Can my grandparents take my children to US for a vacation without the parents? Any document needed?|187606

My parents-in-law have children living in the Baltimore whom they visit frequently. Since it is summer vacation here in the Philippines, they wanted to visit with my children this time. I worry about the preparations and cost of tickets if they will not be allowed to get into the US with my children. My children are aged 11 and 8 years old.

  • You should get a Power of Attorney authorizing your parents to travel to and from the United States with your children. You should also get a Special Medical Power of Attorney giving your parents permission to authorize treatment in case of emergency or sickness while they are in the States.
  • When did the construction on the San Diego-Coronado Bridge start?|110427

I know it opened 1969, but when did people start building? An exact date would be best, but just saying the year is fine too. Please only answer if you are sure, because this is for a project and I need an exact answer. Also, any information about the bridge would be appreciated.(e.g. fun facts, materials used to build it, etc.) I already know about the suicide thing, so if you know anything else, please write it. Thanks!

  • It started in February 1967 i think their is no exact date srry it opened in August 1969 still no exact date if u want exact dates ur gonna lik need blueprints or something hold up.. srry cant find exact date if u want it the blueprints may have it

look at my sources for facts and info hoped this helped all the best

  • _Construction started in February 1967, and the bridge was opened to traffic on August 3, 1969 during the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the founding of San Diego, oldest city on the West Coast._

Of course, planning probably started earlier.
  • What are good spots to visit in San Francisco?|133439

I_ve like in the SF bay area my whole life yet I_ve only bin to San Francisco like 5 times in my life. I really want to go and just hang out over there but i have no idea were to start. Im more interested in actives rather then shopping or museums. Please help me out.

  • Just exploring the city is an adventure. Here is a list of my
    Must Do San Francisco

    1. Ride a Cable Car, the only moving historical landmark in the world. Stop off at the Cable Car Barn at Washington and Mason to get a full understanding of this unique form of transportation. Riding the Powell Hyde line will allow you to see Lombard Street the famous crooked street.

    2. Visit Alcatraz, this former prison is the most popular destination in San Francisco. The bay cruise to and from the island will give you the opportunity to see the skyline from the water a unique perspective. During the height of tourist season it is wise to purchase tickets before you arrive as tours are often sold out days to a week in advance.

    http://www.alcatrazcruises.com

    3. Visit Coit Tower, Beautiful murals inside, impressive bay view from the tower or Pioneer Park at the base. Then descend Telegraph hill via the Filbert Steps on the East side of the park for a unique view of how folks on Telegraph Hill live, more beautiful bay views and the chance to hear and see the famous Parrots of Telegraph Hill.

    4. Golden Gate Bridge, not just a feat of engineering, this 1.7 mile span offers incredible views of The City, the bay and the Pacific ocean. Be sure to visit Ft. Point under the bridge for a different view of this San Francisco Icon.

    5. Explore Golden Gate Park, this large urban park can consume a whole day. The New Academy Science, Japanese Tea Garden, Deyoung Museum [American Art], the Arboretum, Bison Paddock, and Paddle boats are all worth a look and watch the sun go down over the Pacific over a drink or dinner at the Beach Chalet.

    6. Chinatown, the most densely populated portion of San Francisco offers the largest Chinese center for shopping, food and unique architecture found outside of Asia. The best place to buy souvenirs to take home to friends and family.

    7. North Beach, traditionally the Italian section of the city which has no beach but abounds in quaint shops, great restaurants and The Citys best coffee options.

    8. Civic Center, the largest collection of Beaux Arts buildings in the US. Home to San Francisco City Hall, with a dome larger than the US Capital, the Asian Art Museum and the Modern San Francisco Library with its San Francisco History Room housing an eclectic collection of city artifacts and photographs.

    9. Buena Vista Gardens, this urban park is home to; the Museum of Modern Art the Museum of The African Diaspora, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, Contemporary Jewish Museum, Cartoon Art Museum and the Metreon will keep you entertained for hours.

    10. Twin Peaks, see The City and the bay spread out at your feet. Especially captivating at night when the lights seem to go on for ever.
  • What are some things to do in and around Kenosha WI?|131349

We are planning a family trip w/ my 4 yr old next month and I was wondering what family attractions are in the area.

  • You_ll need things that will be entertaining for a 4 year old. Try the beach on Simmons Island right on Lake Michigan. South from there is Wolfenbutel park. It_s nice for walking along the lakefront and has a children_s playground and a water fountain that kids can play in. In the same area is Harbor Park where the Kenosha Museum is. The Wholly Mammoth is a favorite of kids and they have an interactive kids area in the museum as well (and it_s all free). You can catch a ride on the Kenosha trolley for a quarter per person.

While the Ren-faire is awesome, a 4 year old would probably not last long there. Wait a couple more years for that. By the Interstate is the mini-golf park with bumper boats, go carts and a large arcade area.

Of course you wouldn_t want to miss taking the youngster to the Jelly Belly warehouse in Pleasant Prairie. They have a free train ride around the inside of the building that kids enjoy.

  • The Jelly Belly factory is about 10 mins away in Kenosha and my son loved it! He_s 6.

  • Bristol Renaissance Faire
    Address: 12550 120th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53142
    Phone: (847) 395-7773
It is only open on weekends.

  • We used to go up to Kenosha a lot for mini-golf at Congo River. It_s still there, but I don_t know if a 4 year old would appreciate mini-golf.

Now we go to the Brat Stop down the street.

  • Apple Holler off I-94.. All the apple good times you could ask for, Holler! Serious, look it up

  • I know there_s a lake and picnic tables and swings there.

Can you walk from the bus station to the campus of Indiana University Pennsylvania?|109941

I think that the bus station is at 1176 Grant Street or maybe University Square One, but I_mhaving a hard time finding the address. And I think it might be walkable to the campus, but I_m not sure.

  • ~What bus station are you looking for? If it is Grant Street, it is definately within walking distance.

  • What are the natural disasters that occur in Atlanta?|183946

I have to do a report on a city that I_ve never been to and I chose Atlanta, GA. What natural disasters occur in Atlanta? Thanks!

  • These sites may help you out.

  • There was a big tornado that hit two years ago, that moved the SEC tournament from the Georgia dome to Georgia Tech_s basketball court.

And five years ago, there was a small earthquake that was actually in Alabama, that could be felt. But there was no damage taken in the city.

Otherwise, Atlanta only gets bad rain storms here and there. And a few hurricanes come through here, but that mostly just rain and wind. Atlanta is a very safe place to travel and live.

  • There was a tornado last year that tore through downtown messing up several buildings. There was also a freakish snow storm about 15 years ago that crippled the city (we aren_t used to snow).

Mostly it_s rain storm related flooding and falling trees. Atlanta doesn_t get hurricanes, earthquakes or anything like that.

Google Atlanta Tornado and you should find it.

Where is there a hotel close to decent surf in hawaii?|197421

i_m planning a trip to hawaii for my 21st birthday in january and am taking about 10 friends with me there surfing experience is all different from just starting out to surfing the giants. is there any place (preferably with sandy beaches) that is also close to night clubs and bars? preferably a resort on the beach.

  • In January, the surf is on the north shore, so that means the Turtle Bay Resort. It is the hotel that was used in the recent film _Leaving Sarah Marshall_. There is not much night life on the north shore though. You might need to break up your vacation _ spend a few nights at Turtle Bay _ a few nights in Waikiki. But any novice surfers need to be very cautious about surfing on the north shore in January. They might be better off in Waikiki.

    http://www.turtlebayresort.com/

  • During winter (Nov - March) the waves break on the North Shore _ get really big but you can always find some place with smaller waves away from the North Shore swell. Kaanapali Beach or Ritz Carlton Kapalua or Kapalua Bay Hotel _ Villas (hotels _ condos)

  • If you go to Oahu stay at the Turtle Bay Resort
    http://www.turtlebayresort.com/default_.
on the North Shore; there are huge waves on the North Shore. Small waves can be found on Waikiki and there are tons of hotels on Waikiki. And there is alot of nightlife.

  • Why not find one near North Shore on Oahu, where the surfing is great?

  • What subway do I take to get from Penn Station to the Hotel Pennsylvania?|170465

What subway do I take to get from Penn Station to the Hotel Pennsylvania? This is my third time to NYC and I am still unsure of how to read a subway map.

  • Hotel Pennsylvania is directly across 7th Avenue from Penn Station.

That_s the side of the station where the 1, 2, and 3 subway lines are, by the way. The A, C, and E lines are on the 8th Avenue side.

  • Walk out the Seventh Avenue exit of Penn Station (pass the Duane Reade on your left). At the top of the stairs, look directly across the street. That would be the Hotel Pennsylvania.

  • they_re across the street from each other, they were built, owned, and named after the same thing, the Pennsylvania Railroad.

  • My friend, the hotel is right across the street from Penn Station. Its just a simple two minute walk.

    Good luck

  • They have exactly the same stop.

  • You dont. You just walk down the street on 7th Ave.

  • They_re on the same block. Good luck!
  • What is the best way (pricewise)to book a family vacation to disney world for 14 people?|181856

I am looking to book a trip for 14 to disney world fl. and I would liketo have a comfortable condo at a reasonable price. Also if there are any sugestions for park tickets that would save me money.

  • How fun!!!

Go thru disney. They will have deals for _good neighbor_ hotels that include park hopper tickets.

Check disney.com or call a travel agent. If you buy tickets and a place to stay seperately, it will more pricey.

  • don_t go

  • Get discounted park tickets through one of these legitimate vendors:

    Disney Store
    AAA (membership required)
Costco or Sam_s Club (Membership required)

My husband and I own a timeshare and sometimes stay at Fantasyworld Vacation Villas in Kissimmee. They are very nice. You can also look into the Best Western Lakeside - which is a wonderful resort with ajoining rooms.

    Have a great time!

  • I don_t know if you ever heard of Coastal but they have some great vacation packages that you can purchase once and can use it for the rest of your life. these are 15,000.00$ and upwards packages for pennies on the dollar. You don_t have to sell these packages to own one. Here is the website you can check out
    http://www.shahansdestinations.com
. It is a home based biz site but go on check out the packages(which are cheaper when purchased as just a package), then call the 1-800# and give them the ID code 7973LS and tell them you are interested in a package only not the biz or you can buzz me at 1-866-562-1967. Hope you find what your looking for and GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!!! (If you check out the site, it is a biz site and you start receiving emails just subscribe)

  • Traveling with 14 people, you may want to take a look at renting a vacation home instead of a condo. You may want to consider renting one of the homes with 5+ bedrooms. If you want to split up your travel group then you may want to consider renting two 4 bedroom homes. You may also qualify for additional discounts by using the _group travel_ method.

  • I am doing the same thing this year but we have 17 people going. The cheapest way is going to be to rent a villa. The best site I have found is www.VRBO.com. They have tons of homes. You are probably going to need a 6 or 7 bedroom yourself - it depends on how the families are divided. They are running anywhere from 1800 up to 3000 for the off season. Check them out.

  • The best way for you to go to Disney World with 14 people is to camp there and for you to drive there from where every you are right now and you you to go at the beginning of spring and end of winter. Also get park passes before you go there so you don_t have to pay for them there. If you say on property you will get to go to a park early (early hours) and leave later then everyone else. I hope this helps.

  • its going to be EXPENSIVE no matter which method you use. For all those things, you would have to book direct with disney.com possibly

  • here is the site for affordable disney vacations

  • Is Wisconsin a decent place to live if ur gay?|120035

I_ve heard many positive things about Madison. I am in Ohio now and thinking of putting in for a transfer at work to Windsor Wisconsin(near Madison). Overall I would think it can_t be any worse then Ohio or Michigan.

  • Madison isn_t bad but much of the rest of the state sucks. Lots of bigots there sadly and oh yes very stupid people it seems. I lived in Mich my whole life and it s better that slohio and Wisc. believe me. Try A2 or Royal Oak or Ferndale Mich. All great places!

  • excuse me, sharonlynnvn I live here and I think Its beautiful here and I think that anywhere else would be horrible to live. especially where u live (i_m not talking about u bs 2008

  • Madison is amazing - don_t even consider the Fox Valley (Green Bay/ Appleton). Very conservative!

  • I dont know about wisconsin but when i was in San Diego, it was awesome, there were a lot of gay people, and the people that werent seemed very accepting and it was pretty much the norm. I know this probablly doesnt help at all since it has nothing to do with WI, lol but i just thought id throw it out there.. i loved san diego :)

  • Just a shout out to Michigan. Ann Arbor has a very liberal progressive community that openly accepts gays and lesbians. In fact, the majority of Southeast Michigan population ranges from accepting to tolerant of gays and lesbians. Please don_t stereotype the Midwest.

  • Madison is probably the most open and friendly city in the state. You_ll love it.

Cool local music scene, very arty people, and the massive university sure helps too.

Here_s a link to the free weekly paper...

    http://www.thedailypage.com/isthmus/

  • Madison is the most gay-friendly city in Wisconsin. I live here, and although I_m not gay, I think you_d love it. Plenty of culture, yet very safe city.

  • Madison is a great place to live. My brother is gay and he loves it. He says it_s very accepting and it_s a lot of fun. Best of luck.

  • Most of Wisconsin is extremely conservative in its attitude toward gays. The exeptions are Madison and La Crosse. Its no suprise that they are both college towns and are very accepting.

  • I would say that in Madison or most other larger cities not an issue - small town Wisconsin - may be a different reaction all together.

  • nope no queers in wisconsin move to cali anything goes there lol

  • I live in Wisconsin :]
    Move here. It_s lovely.

  • San Francisco is!

  • Why would your sexuality have to do with where you live?

  • I think anywhere you go, people will judge you for your actions. Sorry, but our world is full of closed-minded people :(
  • Any Florida residence that can tell me the best time to visit?|131132

My family and I are planning a trip to Orlando next year, around September October, and we are trying to find out when the crowds aren_t so hefty. We will be traveling with 2 small children and anyone out there with children know that kids don_t do well when the have to wait 3 hours to get on 1 ride. Thanks ahead of time to all who answer.

  • February, End of September, Early October. These are the best times to visit b/c (1) Less crowded and (2) Weather is nice. I know from experience b/c I have been going to Disney for many many years now. I have the seasons pass to Disney so I can go any time of year that I want...but I still go those times b/c all the other months there are way too many people and it is also too hot. You can sometimes get away with going at the beginning of December right after THanksgiving but before Hannakah and Christmas.
Also, you can use your tickets to put into the fast pass machine. If you_ve never used fast pass, it is a machine that gives you a ticket to go on a certain ride at a certain time.

Example....lets say you want to take the kids on Snow White and Peter Pan....Get a fast pass for Peter Pan, it will tell you the time to come back to Peter Pan. In the meanwhile you can go on Snow White and then come back to Peter Pan with the fass pass and have less wait time to get on the ride. You don_t wait in the regular line if you have a fast pass.

  • From working over a year in tickets at a theme park id have to say early-mid june. the parks are open extended hours, the good kids in florida schools are working (the rest are in summer school) and the rest of the nations schools have not let out yet.

  • Beginning or end of November are nice, beginning of December, beginning of January and last 3 weeks of Sept are all _quiet_ meaning not a lot of lines at the Disney parks, not a lot of children but still the same great service.

  • if your looking between those two months I would go for late september early october too. Also, go during the week.
That way your safer (in both cases) that kids are in school so theres less of a crowd.

  • September and October are the best times to visit. This is the time that the kids are back in school and the parks are less crowded.

  • The week after Labor Day is usually pretty slow. Although it is still a little crowded at the theme parks but you can ride the rides on and off pretty quickly.

Usually Orlando doesn_t have any downtime. A lot of people more often think in the same wavelength.. so during the slow months, it could be busy also.

Since you_re planning your vacation around Sept or Oct, you_re off to a good start. There aren_t anything much going on September but Disney has Halloween party every October.

  • in sectember belive me its the best!

  • If you have children, the absolute best time is actually late September/ Early October. The Weather is still awesome and the because everybody has just started school the crowds are very low... Enjoy!

  • january through febuary
come to central florida best time to come

  • January - Feb and Sept - October

These are wonderful times to visit!

  • I work in one of the theme parks and the best advice I can give you is to come after Labor Day but before October. Unless you_re really into Halloween, October is pretty much a continuous Halloween party at the parks, attracting alot of locals. If you come in the last couple of weeks of September, the parks are usually slower. It will still be hot (depending on where you_re coming from and what you_re used to) but it_s not too bad.

If I could tell people to come any time I would say January/February. It_s not hot and it_s very slow. Hope you have fun!

  • in the fall when kids are in the school and parents work. because on the winter and summer breaks it is packed with people

What are some activities or things to do in Columbia, MD besides shopping?|183060

  • Im moving to New Orleans for school, when do I start looking for apartments?|116584

I currently live in Austin Texas, and will be attending graduate school at Tulane in the fall. I_m looking at apartments now, but am not sure if I should go ahead and start looking into certain apartments since most of the leases start in June or July, and I_m not moving to NO until August. Any suggestions on how to go about apartment hunting in New Orleans??

    Thanks!

  • Welcome!

There is lots of rental property in the neighborhood around Tulane and the university should have a list of available apartments. There should be no problems with the lease as it would start when you move in.

Do consider staying in a dorm for your first semester - that would give you time to look for an apartment without being rushed. You may even be able to stay in the dorm temporarily (not for a whole semester). Ask.

If you are not restricting your search to the area around Tukane there are many choices. The French Quarter, Central Business District, and Warehouse District have lots of condos/apartments for rent, but tend to be expensive + parking can be a problem. The Bayou Saint John/City Park area is a great place to live, and Lakeview (which flooded badly) is recovering + has rental options.

An aparement building in the Bayou Saint John area is The Esplanade:
    http://www.liveatesplanade.com/

    Good luck!

  • As a student who has lived in New Orleans for almost 7 years, I would like to inform you that it probally is best you stay on campus and do some searching first before jumping into an apartment. The prices have been steadily fluctuating since katrina, and with various types of people moving in and through the city, sometimes a relatively affordable place to you could potentially host unwanted renters. Ultimately if you want comfort and saftey you will most likely end up paying 695 at the least! Like I said I would just apartment search for a while..try apartment reviews online as well. Oh yea and welcome to New Orleans...it_s gonan be one hell of an eye opener from what you_re use to. Quote me.

  • Look at an area called Mid-city. It_s between uptown and metairie. it_s a nice area that is still part of new orleans it_s close to uptown so you_ll be only 10 minutes away from tulane. it_s a safe area that is still fun. another area to consider is uptown around magazine street or in the garden district. this is the fun party tourist area but it_s not bourbon street so it has a nice balance. it_s REALLY expensive to live there though because it_s a nice area and the parking in a pain in the asss you have to parallel park everywhere and there_s a lot of one-way streets. i_d recommend visiting before july to see what you like. i_d just stay away from the ninth ward, gentilly, and parts of uptown. you_ll KNOW when it_s bad. trust me

    hope i was a help

Im curious because I wanna get good place to view thats why XD please anyone let me know asap.

  • Bring your enthusiasm and leave your bags at home.

  • Security and Rules

    * There are no bags or backpacks allowed in Times Square.(When they say no bags then mean no bags including _a small bookbag_)
    * There is no alcohol allowed in Times Square. However, this is difficult for police to enforce. If they see alcohol, the NYPD will confiscate it, but they rarely write tickets.
    * Emergency routes and sidewalks must be kept clear. There is no loitering outside restaurants.
    * There are no food vendors inside the pens. If the visitor is hungry, he must leave his pen and go to one of the local restaurants.

Can i work for a travel agency which is in America staying online in India?|119149

I want to stay at home in India and work for a travel agency in India, is there any agency which can provide me this work?

  • probably. you people pretty much ruined all the American jobs anyhow. Just walk down your street, I_m sure there_s an American travel agency in Dehli or somewhere.

  • Easy, all you have to do is walk down the street, because that_s where all these American Travel Companies went, and while you_re at it, ask those greedy people for a big raise.
  • What damage is there in Virginia Beach from IDA?|114201

Esp along the Boardwalk and the Christmas lights, we are going the weekend after thanksgiving. Any suggestions on what to do besides the lights?

  • Damage mainly happened to people_s homes. The Christmas lights didn_t get much damage so they will be fine by the time you get here,

If you_re looking for other things to do besides the go to the beach, Virginia Beach has plenty of malls, movie theatres with IMAXs, clubs, bars, an aquarium, restaurants, and a lot of other fun things.

  • We go there annually in the summer. The Virginia Beach Marine Science Museum (I think that is the name) is a must see. Another good thing about Virginia Beach is you can take the trolly to just about anywhere that you want to go and leave your car parked.

  • What time does Warped Tour usually start and end?|195177

I_m Jenn, and me and my friend Sarah are going to Warped Tour on August 2nd at Tinley Park, IL, and we need to know what time it starts and ends so that we can get our train tickets.

  • The gates open to get in 11 AM.
I_m not sure what time it ends offically, but you can leave whenever you want to.
Last year I left around 9:30 PM

If you want to meet band members I would say stay as long as you can. This year I_m going to stay since a lot of the band members walk around after their sets and everything.

  • I live in calii

and both warped tours i went to
the gates opened at like noon.

so idk what it will be like for illinois.

did you try calling or emailing?

and ticketmaster should have the starting times.

and it ended around 8ish or 9ish here in cali

  • usually around 11, and it ends around 10 or 11 too. Get there early because there is no way of knowing what time bands are playing untill you get there and the worst is when u get there 2 hours late and you find out youve missed your favorite band

  • Ticketmaster says that the gates open at 11 and bands start playing at 12. It says it ends at 9:30, but last year we stuck around to get autographs and such.

  • When I went last year the doors opened at 10 and it ended at 9-10ish

  • I_m going to that show too. It usually starts around 11-12ish and ends 10-11ish.
  • How do you get into the hottest clubs in Los Angeles? Does it cost a lot to get in and if so how much?|170458

I am 20 years old and living in Los Angeles and next year I_ll be able to go to 21+ clubs, but I was wondering: how do you get into the hottest clubs in LA? Does it cost a lot to get in? How much does it cost to get in?

  • Los Angeles_ straight hipsters follow a very simple maxim: Just go where all the gay people are.

The best clubs are in their natural habitats any way: Santa Monica, West L.A., West Hollywood, and Hollywood. And there_s some truth to the idea that the homosexuals know what_s _hot_ and what_s _not_.

A quick browse through the L.A. Weekly will basically confirm my point. Most of the places they recommend are mixed venues (with both straight and gay patrons).

Cover charges in L.A. aren_t too bad... usually $10 - $20. Most clubs make their profit when you drink rather than with an admission fee. That_s why they don_t do more 18+ nights (they lose a lot of money).

Dress code is the same as Vegas: Smart Casual. Unless you_re _somebody_ (they always let celebrities in)... you probably won_t get away with sneakers, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and tanks.

If there_s a guest list, you can pretty much guarantee you_ll get in by being on it. Sometimes, that means shelling out far more money though (for a _club membership_ or _VIP Priority_...or some other soothing label).

  • It helps to be on some kind of guestlist. You can check the club_s websites for this info. If you can arrive early to clubs; there won_t be many people there... but the cover charge will be less, if they even have one. The most i ever paid for cover is $20. Drinks on the other hand can get ridiculous; which shoud be more of a concern instead of cover price. If you have the time and money you_d have a better time in Vegas in my opinion.

  • My suggestion to you is that you never EVER stand in line. It is a waste of time and it makes you look desperate. You can generally get on any list by knowing the promoter. How do you get to know the promoter, you ask? Well, of course, by perusing Myspace. Every promoter who likes to make money has a Myspace page and will eagerly add any hot girl or guy to his/her VIP guest list. Just search the names of clubs you want to go to on Myspace and the profile of the promoter of that club will more than likely show up. Also, you might just ask your friends, your friends friends, older siblings, siblings friends, coworkers, whoever if they know anyone who works at ________ club. Everyone knows someone who is a promoter/bartender/barback/bouncer in LA. Also, remember that the _hot clubs_ are generally those that haven_t been toted in the tabloids yet. Once celebrities check these places out, they get crowded, then the celebrities don_t return and the club goes down...the endless cycle in LA. Sooo, I would suggest trying to get into the places that have just opened to good reviews, places with name DJs and who are noted for good drink prices, not just the ones Paris Hilton frequents. Hope this helps!

  • you pretty much have to dress up if you want to get in. Girls might be easier to get in. If you_re on the list, then it_ll be easier for you to get in. May be if you_re waiting for the first time, just be friendly with the bouncer and slip tip so next time when you go, he_ll remember you and let u in without having stay in line.
    have fun!!
  • Where is the best romantic 3 day vacation spot in the Northwest?|170060

Sept. 15-17 I am trying to plan a getaway for my girlfriend and I. We are 25 and 29 and enjoy wine and mountain biking. We are tired of _the coast_. She loves to knit and some sort of hot tub/spa is manditory.

  • My hubby _ I go to Hocking Hills in southern Ohio...south of Columbus about an hr...beautiful beautiful beautiful and we get a hot tub every time....we really enjoy Cabins at Cedar Grove..stay in the Deer Run or Whispering Pines....small 1 bedroom cabin with secluded hot tub...naked of course...and very very clean..you just need your food and clothes and maybe a couple of big towels for the hot tub...everything else is there...take a short drive to the many caves to go exploring or just drive through the forest....you will see deer at your cabin and along the drive at dusk....nice area to stay at and very very close to Old Mans Cave..enjoy and have fun....

How long does snow last before melting in Boston in December?|164707

_m gonna be in Boston from the 26th to 30th of December to see some shows and it looks like it won_t be snowing at all, sadly. I live in LA, so I rarely get the chance to see some snow. Thing is, I know Boston just got hit with a big winter snow storm, so I_m wondering if I_ll see any snow left once I get there?

  • There will be plenty of snow, just bring a heavy jacket and hat _ gloves! It_s cold here. Only 19 today!

  • Probably not, because it_s supposed to rain before then and it will probably be all melted. If it stays cold after a snowstorm, it can last for weeks, until it gets above 32 again.

  • dont worry there will be snow here, alot of it. just cuz its raining xmas eve, just means ICE. but its freezing here, stay in LA! i wish i was in hot weather right about now.

  • It will last till next March.
  • How old do you have to be to stay alone in Universal Studios?|182575

Im going to Orlando this weekend, and i would like to drop my daughter off with her friend (theyre 13, and 14) at the theme park. Universal and Islands of Adventures. Can i leave them alone? Or do they need to have an adult 18+ with them in the park?

  • It_s perfectly fine to drop your daughter and her friend off. They will have a blast and you do not have to sit around and wait for them to go on their types of rides. I just got back from Islands of Adventure yesterday and the wait times were between 30-65 minutes. If you want, you can purchase them a express pass for $39.95 and they will not have to waste their time in long lines...they are guartneed to be on the rides in 15 minutes or less with the pass. I see a bunch of teenagers by themselves so it is fine!!!

  • ok, why would you leave your 13 year old alone in a park? sorry but thats pretty irresponsible. I dont care what kind of kid she is, you leaving her alone in a theme park she doesnt know and with thousands of strangers. Ok then. then we wonder why our kids disappear.

    sorry lady but your crazy.

  • 9UN8I-0

  • They can be there by themselves.
  • What is the best place to live in the Northwest?|167970

I_m considering moving up there in the summer of 2008.
I currently live in Los Angeles,California. I_m sick of California and I cannot stand the hot weather and I love the rain.I have visited Seattle and Portland many times but I just want some of your opinions.
    Thanks!

  • Seattle is the best place to live in the Northwest, no other city in the region comes close. Of course compared to LA it_s really boring and there really isn_t much to do, but Seattle preferable over Portland.

  • Sorry but as a long time Portland native I can say that between the terrible traffic and the less friendly downtown scene, that seattle does not match up to Portland. That aside, if you_re looking for something else that you havn_t seen before, check out eugene.-
  • How do I get a certified document that states I have no crminal record in the United states?|166610

I am a US Citizen, living in Switzerland. It would be alot easier for me to process my residency status there if I can produce a certified document that proves I have no criminal record in the US. My Swiss mother in-law works in a job where (She says) she has seen this document many times. the Swiss govornment asks US Citizens for this, and she says she has seen US Citizens produce that document.

Where can I get this document and how do I request it and have it notorized? If it helps, I used to live in New York City, and am in the US now and for 5 more weeks, then I go back to Switzerland. Thanks!

  • The NYPD regularly provides Good Conduct Certificates for people to show no New York criminal record. You can order one here:

  • I would suggest you contact the NCIC -- National Crime Information Center at:

What is that haunted hospital called in kentucky?|197769

Its haunted and i wanted to read about it it was a tuberculosis hospital.

  • It_s called Waverly Hills Sanatorium and it_s in Louisville Ky. They actually offer tours and ghost hunts but they are booked up for the rest of the year. They_ll start scheduling again in January.

They are also doing a haunted house but this Friday and Saturday are the last days for it.

Here_s their website so that you can read up and learn more about it_s history.

  • What is the best city to live in Oklahoma?|102886

Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Stillwater, Muskogee, Baja, Henrietta, Tate, Norman or Moore?

    Home to Toby and Reba?

I want to start a new life somewhere with a lower cost of living and slow paced lifestyle compared to LA County, CA. Please help.

  • Without a doubt Norman. The nicest and cleanest city in Oklahoma, is centrally located 25 minutes from OKC and 3 hours from Dallas. Plus The University of Oklahoma is there, so you will find a little more diversity than in other cities.

    Good Luck.

  • tulsa

  • I lived in the Norman area for 18 years. It_s not the greatest, but pretty good as far as Oklahoma goes. Not a fan of the Tulsa area, and I highly advise NOT living in Stillwater. It_s way to hard to find a job there.

  • tulsa, much nicer looking town than okc, if you know what i mean

  • Is there a comprehensive site listing all of California public beaches?|113796

There are a lot of them. I_d love to have a web site that lists each one, maybe has pictures, and discusses amenities and features.

  • Resources about California beaches. Links to the hundreds of public California beaches, including private California beaches and nude ones. You_ll also find reports about the water quality at California beaches and photos of California beaches, as well as the best guidebooks to California beaches.

  • Here are a couple of more sites for you.
If you go to the beach often, I would recommend that you get an annual state parks pass.
It makes dropping by the beach on your lunch hour or to watch a sunset that much easier.

Is there a fairy from Florida to Texas over the gulf of Mexico?|100796

I am moving to Texas and was wondering the fastest/cheapest/easiest on a vehicle way to get there (from Florida). Is there a fairy or boat that will take my family and mini-van across the gulf?

  • No ferries but you might check at your local port for a cargo ship coming into the Houston Ship Channel. They would probably take your car but I_m not sure about passengers.

  • I think you mean a ferry. There is currently no ferry from Florida to Texas. It would be a good idea, but unfortunately there_s no ferry service at all. You will have to do it the long way and drive around through Alabama and Mississippi.

  • No, not at all. I know it may seem like that would be the shortest route but in fact the gulf of Mexico is actually bigger than you might think.

  • Not unless TINKER BELL has a new route.

  • do you mean Tinker Bell ? or do you mean a ferry? no, there is no such thing

  • Nope

  • FAIRY?????????????????
I don_t think there is a FAIRY,nor is there a FERRY,you_ll have to drive like everyone else.
  • What is the best night club in Waikiki for 21 year old females?|181689

We_re going to Hawaii on Vacation on Oct. 25th, and we would like to go out and enjoy the night life of Waikiki on Saturday, the 27th. Any suggestions???
We_re 21, and we_re looking to have fun!! Dance, drink, and listen to great music! :)

    THANKS!

  • I recommend Pipeline Cafe!

  • Pipeline is good. Only they have a lot of 18 and over nights. Always have entertainment too (local bands.)
I recommend Monkey Bar. 21 and over night club. Lot of local and UH students. Professional dress code. Casual but professional.
Mai Tai_s is a great place also. Open bar with entertainment. Local people.

  • Rumours at the Ala Moana Hotel is fun. I have been there a couple of times. Moose McGillycuddy_s on Lewers St. is a good place, also. There is Tsunamis on Kuhio as well as Scruples. Waikiki is *full* of places to party! You might start off at Duke_s (no dancing, but the Barefoot Bar is fun and they often have live music) and go from there as Duke_s closes early (around 10 pm on weeknights). You don_t have to restrict your nightlife enjoyment to weekends in Honolulu, by the way. It_s a tourist town, so there is something to do *every* night! Enjoy. I bet you_ll love it!

  • Zanzabar On Kuhio Ave.
Pipeline Cafe ~ just be careful not to get in the middle of the fight outside after closing
  • What shops on Fifth Avenue and Madison should I visit durring Christimas?|179201

Hey everyone! I already know all the brands I like so I_m visiting that but is there any other really nice boutiques in NYC? or sightseeing places? FAO Schwartz, world_s biggest toy store near Saks.

    Madison Square Garden

  • I was told to go to Macy_s and Saks for the displays. I_m also heading to Bloomingdales next week and FAO Schwarz. Have fun! I know I will.

  • None, unless you have lots of money to spend! If you_re coming during the holidays you might have a chance at some sales and stuff.
You could visit the 80ft Rockefeller Tree, the Empire State Building, China Town/Delancy (lots of purses and shoes), Soho (also lots of boutiques) and of course the world famous 42nd Street!
    Happy traveling!

  • None of them its murder! lol...got back tuesday and the police have to control the people trying to shop!!!! try shopping down up broadway, loads of the shops you have to que up outside of due to the amount of people trying to get in!

What are the best Vegas lounges without a dancefloor?|197534

I_m looking for a cool lounge in Vegas that doesn_t have a dancefloor. Basically we like to go to a cool lounge and listen to music and have drinks. We really like Ghostbar since its an upscale lounge, but doesn_t have a dancefloor. Now we_re looking for someplace similar.

  • Caramel at Bellagio
    Shadow at Caesars Palace
    Cathouse at Luxor
    Tabu at MGM Grand
    Revolution at Mirage
Tao at Venetian (the downstairs lounge not the upstairs club)

  • I too like GhostBar. Rain seemed to be simliar and also @ Palms
You may want to try a place called the Living Room @ Planet Hollywoood. CatHouse @ Luxor is a restaurant that becomes more lounge like later evening. As is Mixx@ Mandalay Bay
I_m not sure if Tryst would considered a dance club or not, either that or Blush. Both are @ Wynn

  • Try the Fontana Lounge at Bellagio or the Seahorse Lounge at Caesars.

  • How do I get it across to out of state employers that I am willing to relocate?|167810

I am currently in the job hunt and I am looking on the east coast, I live in Ohio. I have sent numerous resumes to various employers on the East Coast I do not hear from them. Anyone?

  • Put in your cover letter that you are planning on relocating. Not that you are willing to relocate. Makes you look more definite.

And, unfortunately, you may have to move first.

  • Did you tell them you would be glad to relocate? and probably they don_t want to foot the bill to move someone that hasn_t had the chance to prove their worth to them.
  • What is a nice cheap weekend getaway for a couple in New Jersey?|175646

My fiance and I want to do something different this weekend. There are only so many times to go to the movies, play pool, and go bowling. We are currently on a budget saving for our wedding. What would be a nice cheap weekeng geatway for a couple in New Jersey? Any ideas?

  • pennsylvania! you can go to the mountains..if thats what you mean by getaway. I believe most stuff is much cheaper here then towards the coast.

  • Visit New York City - Metropolitan Museum of Art.

  • The very best getaway I ever experienced was to tell everyone I was going to NYC. Then I just stayed home, stayed in doors so they didn_t know I was there, and later pulled out old photos and made up stories about all the things I had done. It_s harder to pull this off than you think because it_s very tempting to go outside.

One time I did that, and while everyone knew I wasn_t gone, I had a great time. That time I MADE myself go to all the tourist attractions close to home and just see my local community as a tourist would. Believe it or not, that was a better getaway than taking a trip. The key on this one was to go to TOURIST things, and to not fall into the trap of going to the mall, the grocery store, etc - all the things that are part of your daily work. One way to make it more that way is to eat every single meal out that week (or whatever time period) and to not turn your television on AT ALL during that time period. Make sure you go to a lot of movies, museums, art galleries, and all the other fun stuff you might overlook in the hustle and bustle of your daily life.

You_ll be surprised how much fun you_ll have. Better than taking a trip, and less expensive, too.

  • Go to upstate New York and find a bed and breakfast. Or, go to Long Branch or one of the places along the Jersey shore. It_s the off season so the place will be dead, and you can visit all the little shops and stuff.

  • Cape May (the city) is well known for its romantic B_B_s.

There_s still walking on the beach even tho_ the weather_s getting cool and there_s a downtown pedestrian mall that has excellent food and shopping.

As it_s off-season, rates will be lower and crowds will be non-existant.

    Really recommend it highly.
  • Where should I plan a summer vacation to in Colorado?|153205

We are wanting to rent a cabin for a few days and have several activities in mind. This are some of the things we are wanting to do.

    1. Whitewater Rafting
    2. Golf
    3. Jeep Tours to old Ghost Towns
    4. Any other fun things

What would be the best place or area to go? Thank you.

  • The best whitewater rafting is in late spring early summer when the water is high.
The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs has golf, jeep tours, rafting etc.
But if you want to rent a cabin, maybe you should think about Grand Lake up in Rocky Mountain National Park.

    http://www.grandlakechamber.com/recreati

  • Estes Park, there are rafting trips, Golf, I dont know about the ghost towns. Estes park is close to Rocky Mountains National Park. There is the Stanly hotel, I like it up there, great view all the way around. I think you would like it even if you find someone else to stay and take a day up there.
Good luck, have a nice vacation.

  • Aspen, Telliride

  • go to steamboat they have all those there =)
the stanley hotel is said to be haunted lol spookey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • What is the Los Angeles job corps like? What is the process for getting admitted?|149943

I have a HS diploma, but would like job training. I will be homeless in the los angeles area, and want to know if I will be able to get into to the job corp in LA. Does anyone have experience with this or has been/ finished the Los Angeles job corps training?

  • You can find it all at the job corps site:

I have never seen any alumni from job corps here, nor any reviews online.

But I_m guessing it beats what you_re doing now!
  • Whats the easiest way to get from New Orleans to Atlanta?|162943

I_ll be traveling from New Orleans to Atlanta in early December and I_ve found some reasonably priced flights, but I_m wondering what other options are out there.

  • This may not be what your looking for, but here_s a trick not many people know---do this only if your flexible!!!

Airlines will price _special fare sales_ in advance, when those sell-the _reasonably priced fares_ and _$$$$$ fares_ start selling. IT_S NOT ALWAYS CHEAPER TO BUY IN ADVANCE.

Think about this..... In December, granted there will be a lot of travel happening for the holidays, however early December comes right after late November (bear with me here, i promise to make sense...) Many people will be traveling in late Nov for Turkey Day, it follows that the following weeks MAY have less travelers and it will pick back up again during XMas. Airlines don_t like the lulls and they will typically offer lower fares to entice people to fly, they don_t like flying half-empty planes!!

Keep in mind, travel on Saturday is cheaper then Sunday. If your making a 3-day weekend of it, it_s typically cheaper to fly out Saturday and return on Monday (less departures on Saturday routes). If your really flexible with your days, go to travelocity and search for fare sales. You can do this one of two ways:

    1. Use the option for +/- 3 days
    2. Use the option for _flexible dates_ this will pull up a calendar that shows the lowest current fares and what dates they are available.

Again these change all the time!!

I can_t tell you how many times I got to say _I told you so_ to friends or family who said _gotta buy the tickets now prices are high!_

Anyways, it_s a game and you should really only play it if your flexible. It_s typically going to cost you the same or less if you buy your ticket 3 months in advance or 3 wks.

For all the doubters, last minute fare to DCA for travel tomorrow cost me $190, I paid for that 2 hours ago. Last week it was $320. Again, lots of things factor into this and I should mention that I always depart from Chicago (ORD) there are many many routes to almost every destination, so if AA is $$$$ I switch to UA and save.

OK I really feel myself rambling, but it just kills me to see people spend soooo much on airfare!! Anyways, for whatever it_s worth-I hope this helps!!!

  • Easiest is flying... If you_re not in a rush to get there, take a greyhound and save some $ for the holiday season...

  • Tell your chauffeur, _Jeeves, take me to Atlanta_.

  • How do I get a good and reasonable price and vaction bundles?|102482

I want to take my wife somewhere exciting and away from the kids. I need to get a good deal or ask if anyone knows how to get a very good deals on vacations

  • Skyauction.com tends to have some great deals- often hundreds less than other sites. Priceline sometimes comes through in a pinch. and you can find some decent deals on eBay too. Try to get a timeshare that isnt being used (which you can get on both Skyauction or eBay), those are the best, as you will generally end up with 2-3 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a washer and dryer- more like an apartment, often for much less than a hotel room. Thats all I do anymore, and its far superior to anything you_re going to find on Travelocity, Hotwire, Hotels.com, or any of that crap.
  • What is the cheapest place to get Disney Vacations?|100391

I have CAA and used them in the past. It was fine, but is there a cheaper way to book a vacation to WDW and also Universal Studios.

  • First off-- to save money-- think about Universal OR Disney. Doing both means buying 2 sets of tickets. And Disney is cheaper the longer you are there.

There is no _place_ that is cheapest to buy everything. There are approaches that may save you money, though.

You need to decide if you are going to purchase a package, or buy a la carte. A package will include room and tickets, and you can add dining. you buy packages from Disney, or CAA. You will need to stay on site. There are some great deals going right now.

Or-- you can go the a la carte route. Buy your tickets from CAA, (if you can-- different groups have different rules), or go to a reputable online broker like Mapleleaf or undercovertourist. Be careful-- if the prices seems much lower than Disney, it is probably not a save purchase. Disney doesn_t sell, or allow anyone to sell, deeply discounted park tickets.

Look at off property lodging. You can get a lot more for much less if you move off property. Your own kitchen, a bedroom and private bath for everyone, your own pool.... the list goes on. But, you_ll have to rent a car, drive your self, and pay for parking.

Dining, well, you can buy the disney dining plan for about $40 a day if you go the package route. This gets you one sit down, one quick service and one snack a day. Its free in Aug/Sept. Or, you can pay for your meals. Share food, eat CS, eat breakfasts instead of dinners out. Basically, the same way you would save at home!
If you go off property, you will have a kitchen, so you can cook yourself.

It_s like anything- the more you think about your trip, the more you read, the more you plan, the more you will save. If you just book and go-- you will probably pay more than you have to.

    Good luck!

  • omg u no what u should do (my family was ganna do it) go online and register your familys b0-days all in the same day!! that way u have free 4 everyone!!!

What is the best way for finding a hospitality job in Santa Monica, LA? How fast I can find it?|183865

I_m thinking about moving to California for summer and looking for some hotel jobs, like a houseman, server, helper, room attendant, etc. I_m in New York right now and I cant find any job in hotels here. So I_m thinking about LA like summer destination and maybe hotels there needs some extra staff? What do you think? Thank you very much for your advises!

  • Good luck! Unemployment is still rising here. Check careerbuilder.com, monster.com, and craigslist.com.

  • If you want a hospitality job, your best bet is to go through the hotels websites directly. Look up a bunch of hotels in LA. Call them, apply to them, walk in. Unemployment is awful there, so you will have to try very hard! I find that monster and hotjobs only have internet spam jobs.

  • you probably wont find anything here. Los angeles unemployment is 15 percent.
  • Im planning on moving to New York for a few months, any tips?|161578

I am planning on moving to New York for 4 months. Any tips on where to live and apartment searching, where to work, or any other tips in general.

  • If you don_t know where you_re going to be working, and don_t come from a lot of money, it_s going to be somewhat expensive. I_m not sure what your financial situation is, or if you_re a college student though, so I_m unsure. When you say New York, I_m taking it you mean Manhattan, but for less money, and still close access, neighborhoods in nearby Brooklyn, are really good options.

It_s going to be tempting, only being their 4 months though. Most people I know really become attached to the area. Where are you coming from? I wish you the best of luck. The market is kind of shot, so if you look around, or go through a rent company, they can help you find something for 4 months. Most vacant apartment owners are custom to this and would take 4 months straight up guaranteed rent money, probably for even a hundred less a month, in a heartbeat. One tip I can give you is, don_t bring a car, because it_ll be a pain finding parking. Parking can also be expensive if you drive around. In terms of work, I_m unsure of what kind of work it is you_re looking for, but there_s always a job around that pays like $10-12 an hour. Probably not ideal to live in Manhattan, but enough to do alright.

I have to agree with Jackson, assuming you don_t come from a wealthy, or upper middle class family, that_s going to pay for you to live there.I wouldn_t say not living in New York isn_t worth it, but a lucrative place in Manhattan just isn_t worth it, if you are barely getting by. Maybe you have a semester off from college and you_re looking to have a good experience? I_d say move to a nearby neighborhood in Brooklyn or Queens. Public transportation is still very good there, especially Brooklyn, and you_ll be able to get to parts of Manhattan quicker than other Manhattan residents.

  • For just 4 months? You will have an extremely difficult time unless you are rich right now and just looking to enjoy the experience.

First not many landlords will allow you to rent for just 4 months. It is usually a year lease and if they let you rent for 4 months expect to pay extra to do this. The rent is outrageous as it is if you want to live in a safe area.

The job market is very tough to say the least. You didnt say what field you want to work in but in general its very tough. To be completely honest it might even take the whole 4 months to even find a job.

If you wanted to move to New York for the long term thats one thing but just to move there for 4 months is not worth it at all. I think you should reconsider this to be completely honest with you.

  • That depends on how much you_re will to spend. May I recommend the link below. It will be very helpful.

  • I would look into a sublet. You can_t get an apt (your own lease) for that short a time. Maybe a residence hotel would be a good idea.

  • Hopefully you got money because it is as expensive as hell to live here.
  • What would be a good place around Cincinnati to take some arty nude pics outdoors?|186911

I want to take some tasteful pics of nude model(s) around a car, around Cincinnati this weekend outside in the sun. So i have to be able to drive there and get a few minutes without being seen. Any suggestions?

  • It would depend on what you want for a background. I would suggest a park, but then you have a problem with the _without being seen_ part, which leads to the police showing up. Since you want to use a car, that means you can_t take a bit of a hike either.

Also, I think it might be a wee bit chilly to do that this weekend. It only getting to the 60s. That might be fine when your clothed, but this is Cincy, and it can be nippy when the wind blows...

    Good luck.

  • Go out to Hueston Woods. There are a lot of small places you can pull over and park in this state park, which have no cars in them even at the crowded time of year. And of course, many of them are pretty given that they are in a state park. This is not the crowded time of year, the place will be nearly deserted. There are rangers though, so you_d better be fast.

  • obamas house.
  • Whats the maximum number of pets a person can own in Portland, OR or Multnomah county?|197130

Is there a limit to how many dogs, cats or both a person/household can own within Multnomah county, or more specifally Portland? I currently have one cat, but am interested in adopting at least two dogs and maybe another cat in the next few years.

  • I don_t think there is a limit legally but that depends on a few things.

If you rent then the owners have the say so.
If your animals are _not under your control_ at all times then certain citys may have ordinaces to remove them. IE if you have cats running all over the neighborhood and someone complains then you can loose them. Dogs have to be quiet excetra.

What is the best way to go from New York City (JFK Airport) to Wisconsin Dells?|148976

I want to know ways of going from New York City (JFK Airport) to Wisconsin Dells?
please tell me fares and approximate total travelling time.
if u can please tell me prices of Flights traing or Buses

  • I don_t have prices but I can tell you what the best option will likely be. If you fly into Milwaukee and rent a car it will only be a few hours drive from the airport to the Dells and you will have a car for getting around. The Dells area is pretty spread out and you will want your own vehicle. There are a few smaller airports a little closer such as Madison but the higher price($200-$300 more) is not really worth it since you will still need a vehicle and you are still almost an hour away. Also, if you fly into a larger airport such as Milwuakee you will have a better chance of getting a good deal on a car rental and more flight options as well. I wouldn_t suggest flying into Chicago because that adds more driving time and the airfare is not that much different, sometimes it is even more expensive than Milwaukee. Chicago also tends to be busier and more of a hassle than Milwaukee would be. Pices really depend on when you are going and how long you are staying, etc. Hope this helps...also train would not be suggested because there are not any main tracks that get close to the Dells and again you will still need to rent a car. Also Amtrak trips take much longer than flying does.

  • Flying into either La Crosse WI or Madison WI will get you within about an hour of the Dells. Renting a car probably will not be an option because there is no one way rental. How would you get the car back to the airport? Could you contact your future place of employment to see if someone would be willing to pick you up? Congrats on the job. It is in a truely beautiful place.
  • Is it possible to make a living as a full time worker at Disney World?|149936

I_m planning on moving to Florida and I was wondering if it was possible to make a living in an apartment while working full time at Disney World? Is this at all possible?

  • Yes, Disney has many full time workers _ is considered a good employer......but...but...but...don_t rush to move to Orlando just yet, Disney, like so many other companies, is laying off workers right now.

  • Disney World has really cut back on their staff lately, so it may be difficult to find a job right away. But you can definitely try. Visit their Career website, listed below to check current job postings. Disney park jobs don_t pay very much. You receive excellent and fun perks such as free park admission/main gate pass, which can also be used to get family or friends in for free. The benefits are decent and of course, it is a very fun place to work. But again, the pay can be quite low. So be sure to do your research before you make a big move. Good luck!

  • Yes! Disney has and always needs lots of workers!! And some of them, but not all, get paid very well! I guess it depends on what your doing (selling food, operating a ride, singing, dancing, performing, hosting) ..

  • Maybe if you get a job as a waiter/waitress at Disney World. At our recent visit, we tipped at least $25 per meal at the sit down restaurants. One of our waitresses had about 8 tables while we were there so I think she probably does well.

  • Yes, but right now, they are laying people off at Disney.
  • How to go about moving onto an indian reservation in New York?|164834

I_m 1/4 cherokee indian and I was wondering if its possible for me to move onto a reservation? And how would I go about doing so?

  • Reservations are sovereign tribal land. Each reservation is separately governed by its own tribal government. There are no Cherokee reservations in New York. In fact, there is only one Cherokee reservation in the United States: The Eastern Cherokee Reservation in North Carolina. It is called the Qualla Boundary. In order to get a land/housing assignment on that reservation you have to be enrolled in the Eastern Band of Cherokee. If you_re of another Cherokee tribe that isn_t EBC you can_t get a housing/land assignment on the EBC reservation. If you want to live on a reservation in New York you must be enrolled in a New York-based tribe and then you_d only qualify to live on your tribe_s reservation. You couldn_t just go live on another tribe_s land.

  • The main part is proving you heritage. While that might seem simple, if it_s not documented in the Tribal rolls or by a recognized genealogist you cannot do it. Here_s a link:

Hows the job market in LA? Is it easy to find jobs there and are there many jobs?|162053

What time of the year are there the most jobs? If compared to phoenix, which city is easier to find jobs and have more jobs?

  • I would say jobs, in general, are easier to find in LA because the job market is so much bigger. Check out monster.com and careerbuilder.com, to see a few jobs in your field.

  • I don_t know the Phoenix market at all, but the LA market is vastly bigger. In certain job types, I am sure it is seasonal, but my opinion is that if you are GREAT at your work and come highly recommended and exhibit a great attitude, you will always find work.

    Good luck!

  • I agree with what they said earlier regarding the job market. It also depends on which field you are looking into.

Check the websites suggested and also http://losangeles.craigslist.org

Also the www.latimes.com then click on jobs

  • lots of jobs if you_re an illegal alien but if you have any viable skills, those jobs are being outsourced to india. you might want to apply at the post office.
  • What is the cost of living in the state of illinois?|136455

i need to know the cost of living in the state of California, Louisiana, texas, Illinois and atlanta so that i can compare them and get a statistic.

  • The site at the following URL will give you cost of living figures for 289 cities.

The cost of living in Illinois depends on location. Chicago is more reasonable than New York or San Francisco, but there is a wide range of housing. Better neighborhoods and some of the more upscale surrounding communities can be pricey, but there are also very affordable areas. Downstate Illinois offers less expensive living,

  • What should my girlfriend and I do in NYC for our one day trip?|182582

We_re 17 and we are going into the city on the 29th for the day and plan to just do whatever and enjoy a nice meal. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Not too crazy about spending a lot of money.

  • Inexpensive:
Ride Toys _R_ Us Indoor Ferris Wheel in Times Square.

    Video -
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BAfFhGbxv

    Free:
    Ride Staten Island Ferry
    Explore Central Park

  • It depends on how touristy you want to be. I like times square, she_ll probably love walking through toys r us and Sephora and the Hershey store etc.. but its a pain to be in those crowds for very long. Central park is a great great place in the city where you don_t have to spend any money. I wouldn_t personally spend the money on a carriage, walking is just as relaxing. I would walk in from the lower west corner at Columbus Circle and work your way up to the Metropolitan- that way you get a taste of the upper west and east side. Also, the Upper West Side is a great place to find cute restaurants. Just walk up Columbus and you_ll find something great and usually pretty reasonable.

Another fun one is going down to Chinatown/ Little Italy- if your girlfriend likes purses she_ll have fun bartering for a fake and its a fun atmosphere downtown, great place to wander. Just get down to Canal Street and have fun finding your way around.

As for transportation, if your looking to save money- take the subway- if you only have a certain amount of time though and you want to get on the other end of the city, splitting cab fare might help you see more in the span of a day.

One last thing. Riverside Park, if you go in around 72nd street is a fun walk along the river.

    Hope that helps! Have Fun!

  • i suggest going to central park. its very peaceful there.
also you could go to times square and just wander around. do a little window shopping. there_s that ferris wheel at toys r us which costs like around i think 5 dollars to ride. its pretty cool.

there_s also ice skating at the Pond which is in Bryant Park (42nd and 7th ave) which is this skating rink that has no admission fee. you only pay for the rental skates. if you have your own skates then its totally free.

to eat out i suggest going to Dallas BBQ at 42nd near 8th ave. its pretty cheap for a lot of food. there_s also Juniors which is a bit more expensive but like for example the chicken Parmesan (which is amazing btw) is big enough for two people then you can buy dessert for like a total of 30 dollars.

  • Take a horse carriage ride thru Central Park, its usually like 15 bucks per person for 45 minutes or so. Otherwise just walk and explore it! I highly recommend walking thru Strawberry Fields or under the bridge.

Or walk around Time Square and look at all the beautiful christmas displays. See the big christmas tree (which lights up on Dec 3rd!).
See ground zero _ walk thru the beautiful church across the street. Or go window shopping at all the high end stores. Honestly, the possibilities are endless. Just get into the city and take it from there.

  • iight max- find out what kind of food she likes the most (ex. mexican=taco bell -jk (like a nice restaurant chi-chis or something nice )) idk what else she likes to do? go to a flower shop and buy her stuff
  • Is it possible to make a trip to Empire state from Newark Airport within 5 hours?|150955

I Would be reaching Newark airport @ 3pm and my next flight is @ 8:20pm on the same day.
Could you please suggest the shortest way to reach?
How much time it would take to reach empire state building?

  • The best way to get there would be to take the AirTran from the airport to the NJ Transit stop. From the train stop, you can take the train directly into NY Penn Station. Try to sit near the front of the train. Once in NY, you can easily walk to the Empire State building (if you sit near the front of the train you_ll be near 32nd and 7th, and the ESB is on 34th and 5th, about a 10-15 minute walk). The train ride in will take about 25 minutes.

On the way back to the airport, be sure that the board says _EWR,_ otherwise you won_t be stopping at the airport. Be sure to buy your tickets before your board, otherwise you_ll be charged an additional $5 fee on the train.

and go to _trip/ itinerary planner_ type in your points (newark airport and empire state building) and it will give you directions on how to get there using mass transit. Probably take you an hour. Or you could grab a cab if you want to spend the money, it might take a half hour up to an hour depending on traffic.

  • 18 miles
    33 minutes
    (each way)

  • It_s very close. You can see it from the airport. Best way, just take a taxi.

What is the difference between a road jersey and a home jersey?|158790

Im thinking about getting a Lebron James jersey on nba.com but im not sure what is the difference on a road jersey and a home jersey. But, i know swingman is the way to go other than authentic. I know replica are crappy. So help?? pleaseeee? :)

  • Most teams are represented by two colors. Home jersey usually are the lighter color with the darkercolor letters and numbers. Away jerseys usually are the darker color with the lighter color for numbers and letters.

Teams wear their home jersey when they play at home and their road (or away) jersey when they_re on the road.

  • Usually they_re just different colors. Sometimes small changes in the design as well, but it_s often the same thing.

We are going to drive from Toronto to Philadelphia, instead of driving all the way, we would like to stop somewhere for a night so the kids are not too tired. Do you know any national park is worth of going that is on the way? Thank you.

  • I don_t know about National Parks but the Adirondack Mts and the Finger Lake region in New York State are absolutely beautiful. Both areas have lots of activities and neat towns to visit.

  • You can stop in Hershey Pa., there is the chocolate factory and a Park.

  • Niagara

  • Deliver the weekend editions of the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

  • Work as a waitress.
    You_ll get great tips.

  • Look for a bartending job: weekend hours, alright pay, tips, and cool people. If you have a great personality and are enthusiastic, a lot of places will hire you and then train you their way.

Or, put up signs adverstising housekeeping, dogwalking, lawncare, etc. and talk to your neighbors about doing small oddjobs for them

What hotel is the best hotel to stay at in las vegas to celebrate a 21st birthday?|168884

I_m trying to plan my 21st birthday, I want it to be a trip to las vegas but i wanted to see if i could get a hotel room or something that had more than one bedroom in it, so my friends and I can have our own privacy. Any recommendations? I_m also open to any other 21st birthday ideas!!

  • The 2+ bedroom suites tend to be extremely expensive - often several thousand dollars a night. It would be far cheaper to just get several rooms together or adjoining instead. You could consider an all-suite hotel like Venetian/Palazzo or Rio - the standard rooms are one-bedroom suites, but offer a bit more space than standard rooms at other hotels. You could book several of those if you still want separate sleeping areas.

Good party hotels on the strip include Luxor, MGM, and Planet Hollywood. Caesars and Venetian have some of the best nightclubs on the strip (Pure and Tao), but they aren_t otherwise really party hotels. Off the strip, Palms and Hard Rock are good party hotels.

  • You will find out that Las Vegas not only has the best hotels in the world, they also have the most affordable rates. If you want some privacy the best thing to do is get two rooms next to each other because suites are very expensive and will not offer you that much privacy. Use promo codes to get discount rates.

  • How do I go about getting into Rehab at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas this Labor Day Weekend?|152838

A friend and I are going down to Las Vegas this Labor Day weekend (Sept. 6 is the Sunday) and were wondering how to go about getting in since neither of us have ever been there). Please help! Thanks!

  • well first u cant go into rehab for no reason and second you can call or email to contact them

  • Hang around the Hard Rock on Saturday night, there will probably be promoters around that are looking for girls for Rehab for the next day, they will give you passes or wristbands or put you on a list.

Get there EARLY, as in don_t go out Saturday night at all (or stay up all night)

Be aggressive about talking to a doorman once you get there, don_t just stand back and wait for one to come to you, go up to everyone you see who works there and ask them to help you get in (just don_t be too annoying about it).

  • get in line no later than 8 am, maybe earlier because i think its their closing weekend? but seriously, get there by 8 in the morning, the line can be hours long. and the pool gets nasty within only a couple hours of being open

Im traveling to Atlanta from Midwest in February, what is the typical dress for business casual?|132202

I am attending a conference in downtown Atlanta the first week in February. We usually dress business casual at these conferences but I_ve never been to Atlanta and am unsure of what _business casual_ is in Atlanta. Also, what will the weather be?

  • Business casual usually equals slacks and a nice shirt. No cleavage. You can also go with a nice knee length black skirt and nice blouse.
    without a suit jacket.

As for the weather. Usually in the winter is when we get all of our rain...and February is pretty chilly.

  • it_s going to be expensive, can_t really help you there. Unless you really want to slum it of course. As far as the location of your hotel, stay somewhere near midtown, doesn_t matter how close you are to either of those spots. Don_t be afraid to use the subway to get around when you get here, it is inexpensive and best way to get to the sites. Also bring your walking shoes, lots to see here.

  • NYC is Great! I suggest you to go to the Rockefeller Center. It is really cool and fun to be in there, you would enjoy the shops, ice skating rink, museums, and the city itself. I also would suggest you to visit Time Square, and Broadway Theater. There are awesome areas and places in New York City. You will love it! Enjoy!

  • How does someone from Canada apply for a job at Disney World?|146807

I have been to the basic careers site but it says to come in person and I obviously can not do that. Is there an email address or another site?
Furthermore, does anyone know if its hard to get a job at Disney World if your from out of Country?

  • first your going to need a work visa to get a job in the US. For an hourly job you will need to live in the area of WDW and go to the casting office to apply for a position. If you have a college degree and your applying for a non hourly position there will be a link with each job to submit your resume. Click on the job your interested in and it will give you a complete description, what qualifications are required, what qualifications are desired and a link to apply. But again you will need a work visa to come here to work and Disney generally doesn_t pay for someone to relocate. Your best bet again is to live in the area. There is also a job hot-line you can call listed on the careers website, you might give them a call.

Another thing you can possible look into is the college program if your in college and at EPCOT each of the World Showcase Pavilions is staffed by cast members from that country, there is a Canada pavilion so you might look into a position there, they may and probably do help with the visas for these positions.

  • Honestly, I believe you have to come go to the casting building in Orlando for an interview. I would do what anyone would do when applying for any job that is not in your immediate area. Send them your resume and then call them to set up an interview. The truth of the matter is, you probably will have to travel to Orlando at some point.
  • Is there a bus that would take you from indy to noblesville ?|130761

I don_t drive and would come into the Amtrak station if that is of any help.

I don_t know if the bus to and from Fishers is still running or not. If you check IndyGo_s website (IndyGo.net), they will have more information. Good luck!

Is it stupid to drive into Vegas on a Saturday night without a hotel room already booked?|129818

I really don_t feel like booking something ahead of time and will be driving through Vegas on January 16th and stopping for one night. Is it okay if I just wait til I get there to get a room or does everything stay booked up in Vegas?

  • Not if you mind either paying a lot for a room, or ending up in a dump. But chances are you will get a room. This Sat is not a Holiday or anything _ after New Years. You probably will be fine.

  • El Cortez Vegas is $79 a night for a tower room with a view of the strip. It_s the oldest casinos in Vegas.
Plaza Hotel above bus stop is $59 a night. It is usually the cheapest hotel casino in Vegas (1000 rooms).
    ========
A Capri room in the _Imperial Palace_ si $165 a night for that night. It is usually the cheapest hotel room on the strip in a principal location.
    =================
The super 8 behind the casinos has a non-refundable rate of $65.69 (includes tax) for that night. That is a savings of $10 for booking non-refundable.

  • I would say you would be better off to book it ahead of time because
#1 It_s a Saturday night, all hotels in Vegas jack up their prices on weekend nights, even during the recession.

#2 They are not going to allow you to take advantage of any of the great room specials in Vegas. at this point you can get a great hotel at a really decent price if you use their online codes.

It_s easy to book a room online. Just go to
    http://smartervegas.com/
find a hotel with a rate that you like, click on the link, and book the room securely through the hotel website.

The cheapest rate I found was $65 for Sat Jan 16 at Excalibur through a special email offer I received from smartervegas.com. If it works, here is the link
    https://reservations.mgmmirage.com/booki

  • If you_re intent on staying the night, you might as well get one in advance. First, you won_t be at the mercy of the hotels when it comes time to pay up, and second, you_ll probably feel less anxious knowing you have a room waiting for you, instead of having to waste time and energy searching the city for a place to crash last minute.

As easy as booking hotels online is, there_s no reason to wait.

  • Are you going to Party while there?
Or, are you just looking for a place to crash and continue on your way the next day?

It_s _Off Season_, No problem_s. (Stick on 13 or higher)

PS. Motel 6_s are like $35!
Drove through Reno-Vegas on my way to Phoenix mid Nov. No problems with finding a place to stay just how much I wanted to spend.

  • Ha ha.. well since you used the word stupid, I will agree with you. On the other hand, if your car is comfortable, you can sleep in it that night. Getting a room will be hard without a reservation and if you do, it will be more expensive than what you would have paid if you booked ahead of time.

    http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/special.p

  • You can book when you get there but I would book a room in advance because then you will get a better room price. In addition you can use a promotion code when you are booking online in order to lower the nightly price.
    http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com
    has the latest codes available.

  • That is a long weekend. Dr. Martin Luther King holiday. So, it could be hard.
But, you can always get a motel 6 type place.
Just do a web search of a few places to see if there is availability that weekend. If there is risk it. If you are concerned, make a reservation.

  • Getting a room is easy, so is paying way too much. Unless money does not matter to you, I would book on line where you can shop for price, amenities, location etc.

    *

  • Not stupid.. there are so many empty room here they closed or closing whole towers cause of the ecom. is so bad. no problem here at all .

  • Not with the current economy but you might not find a good deal at a hotel you desire.

  • With all the hotels there are in Vegas there will be rooms available. Just depends on what you_re willing to spend.

  • you will be able to find a hotel but don_t be picky at all cause you probably won_t be able to get exactly what you want
  • How can I create an LA atmosphere in my house?|168291

My Boyfriend is from LA but he goes to college out here in Chicago. He is really missing home, and I thought it would be a great idea to transform my house into _LA_ for a day. Only problem? I have NO idea how to accomplish this. Any suggestions?

  • Hire a taco truck to sit out front. Or make fish tacos, they are a big thing here, so are burritos. Make some margaritas.

Play some Los Angeles specific music. Snoop Dogg, Social Distortion, Guns N Roses (Welcome to the Jungle), Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beach Boys, Suicidal Tendencies, The Pixies, etc. all have songs about Los Angeles and California. Whatever his tastes are.

You could have a race riot.

Spanish style homes are numerous here.

Get some Dodgers gear and mail order some Dodger dogs. If he_s an Angels fan get some of their stuff. Lakers gear would probably also make him happy since I don_t know anybody that cheers for the Clippers. The LA Kings and the Anaheim Ducks are our hockey teams. You could also get some USC or UCLA gear if he likes those colleges.

We do have a lot of graffiti and homeless, but he probably doesn_t miss that part of LA.

Buy a small palm tree. They probably sell them as house plants in Chicago. Bird of paradise, ficus trees, bougainvillea and nasturtium are some plants that grow outdoors here.

Tattoos are huge in LA. Everyone is tatted.

  • That_s impossible, or I really don_t have any idea how you_ll do that. What part of L.A. is he from anyway? You should take him to the South Side of Chicago, that will make him feel back at home.

  • Go to Hollywood and buy a bunch of souvenirs from the giftshops located near Hollywood _ Highland. Also, visit Target they have a lot of L.A. stuff such as paintings, posters and signs.

  • Hire some illegal aliens to freeload off you, get a smog machine, dump some trash in the living room, and spray paint the walls with graffiti. That should do it!

  • west of encino is probablly not even LA native, only watches too much about gangs on tv. modern furnished apartments. Maybe some candles on just before sunset. I dno somethin like that, hop ehelps.

  • have gang graffiti painted on the walls .. a few abandoned shopping carts would be a nice touch.

  • go to pottery barn and get modurn decocrations
  • From Australia: How long does it take to get a US visitor visa?|144717

I do not qualify for the US Visa Waiver program and therefore have to apply for a B1/B2 visitor visa. Can anyone tell me how long the process is from the moment of submitting the online application, to approval?

  • I_m not sure how up to date this site is, but I do know that the US is having MAJOR backlog issues with any kind of visa or even passport applications.
    Hope this link helps.

  • I_m sure the time varies.

    http://www.usavisitorvisa.com/visitorvis

    Do you have a sponsor?

From Sydney - 9 days for a visa interview appointment - 2 days for processing:

    http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/wait/t

  • Not long - in Australia you should be able to just make an appointment at the embassy and then quite often you_ll take it with you straight away or it will be mailed to you a couple of days later

  • 40 days and 40 nights

The information you need is here....

  • depends on when you can schedule the interview. you can do it online i think. available interview dates range from a week to 3 months from the time you booked it.

then you pay the application fee of $100.

How long does it take to send somethig from the Uk to the US?|139538

Someone will be sending me something in the mail and i want to know how long it would take for me to get it.

  • Around a week, depending on what mail and class you put it under.
  • How early should I get to Bumbershoot if I want two mainstage tickets to Paramore and Death Cab For Cutie?|165029

I wanna see both Paramore and Death Cab, but I don_t know how early I need to go to get passes for both of _em. Both are mainstage. TIA!

  • You typically only need to get a bracelet/_ticket_ for the final mainstage show and for Monday, that_s Death Cab. How early just depends on how many people are trying to get them. They are handed out usually right when the gates open and there will be a booth or two by each entrance and usually at least one more that hands them out. I_d say 12 is usually good, but I_ve seen a couple shows that the bracelets were given out lightning quick at! 12 is probably cool and if that_s too early, you can get the bracelet, then come back later in the day with it.

Add_l: You should just need the one pass/bracelet for the main show. They typically don_t have passes for the earlier shows in the stadium. You_ll need multiples for other people and if they are the bracelets, they are hard to take off (if you wanted to get more than one and give one to a friend later). They have this _rip protection_ tape that kind of shows tampering, but they don_t really get so into inspecting them when you go to the show anyways. I don_t think Paramore will require a pass/bracelet, but if they think the draw is going to be large enough to worry about reaching capacity, they would most likely set one up for that show as well, or use tickets/tokens. I know they had plastic tokens for the main show(s) a couple years ago...

  • I WAS AT BUMBERSHOOT 08 YAY!!!!!!! and i stood right in front of joshie :)

  • Last year we got there an hour and a half before the gates opened and we had no trouble. It goes pretty quickly, we got our ticket and left and came back for the show. If the shows are on the same night you only need one ticket. Have fun!!

What is the address to the Greyhound bus station in Pittsburgh and what is it nearby this station?|115932

While doing a search, I_ve seen 55 11th St, 909 2nd Ave and then one in Monroeville. The pictures on Google Maps does not give these locations any justice.

  • It_s actually right around there, on Liberty and 11th across from the Amtrak Station. It_s in a brand-new building just opened last year. (Google Maps shows it under construction.)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Greyho

Monroeville is out at the Mall, it_s not the Pittsburgh Station.

  • According to Greyhound:

    PITTSBURGH INTERMODAL STA
    55 11TH ST
    Pittsburgh, PA 15222
    Main: 412-392-6526

Using MapQuest, it looks like it_s on 11th between Liberty and Penn, right under 579 and across it from Mellon Arena.

  • How does it take regular mail to travel from Washinghton State to North Carolina?|152426

i am excepting a regular mail and it has already been a week and two days. how long should it take?

  • It should take about 3 to 4 business days, depending on when you mailed it. I think there must be a problem because it doesn_t take as long as you waited. Good luck!!
  • How do I know what kind of outlet a campground will have?|149645

What do I ask when I want to know what kind of outlets they have? I do not know much. I know some plugs have two prongs and some plugs have three prongs.

  • The best way, to make sure you will have the right plug, is to take an adapter. That way, you will be able to hook up no matter what kind of an outlet they have. We have been RVing for a couple of years and I have only seen two kinds of outlets. I have also seen 2 kinds of service: 30 amp and 50 amp. For our use the 30 is fine but if you will be operating a lot of things that take electricity you may want to ask that question. Good luck.

  • For a road trip from California to Canada, where do you recommend stopping and seeing?|162938

I am interested in a roadtrip from Southern California to Canada, and I wanted some suggestions on places to see such as national parks, haunted places, and anything interesting and fun.

  • On your way up through California be sure to visit some of the many great California wineries. You will find many wonderful wineries along the Central Coast in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Monterey, and Santa Cruz. For info on these wineries and places to eat and stay check out:
    http://www.cheers2wine.com/central-coast

If you want to go up through California faster, take I-5 North. Stop and visit the wineries in Lodi, California. There are over 25 with wine tasting rooms and most have free wine tasting. The wineries are not far off of I-5. For info on Lodi Wineries, restaurants, and lodging go to:
    http://www.cheers2wine.com/Lodi-wineries

I would recommend a stop in Ashland, Oregon. It_s a cute little town off of I-5. Make reservations in advance to get tickets for one of the plays the town is known for. For info go to:
    http://www.orshakes.org/

If you visit Seattle, be sure to go to Pike_s Fish Market. For info go to:
    http://www.pikeplacefish.com/

    Have a great trip!

  • Some of the best National Parks are in the area you will be driving through--I_ve been to them all and they were great. So if you like that sort of thing you should hit any of the following: Joshua Tree NP, Death Valley, Sequoia and King_s Canyon, and Yosemite. Crater Lake and Mt. Rainer are also really pretty. Spring is a pretty good time to see most of these places although you could run into snow in Yosemite and it could be really hot in Death Valley. So check out all those details before you go. You could also go along the coast and see some cool cities like San Francisco--it_s one of my favorite cities.

  • well i would detour a little and see the grand canyon, go through Vegas, spend some time in yellowstone national park then go up to glacier national park, stop and check out mount rushmore, go through the bad lands and then go to Grand teton national park and then head back to california

  • Hit every Tim hortons on your way

    =)

  • Your trip will be great! You have the option of seeing SO MANY of our nation_s greatest places! there are literally too many options for me to tell.. can you be more specific about what city to where in Canada? How much time do you have to make the trip? with family? will this be a round trip, so you can take a different route on the way back? Like Sequioa, Yosemite, Redwoods, Mt hood and Rainier on the way up; and Glacier, Yellowstone, I-15 to vegas on the way back ? Write me if you want!

Where is the best place to vacation near Atlanta?|122682

My birthday is coming up soon and I want to go somewhere nice for the weekend. I_m looking for something in driving distance, no more than about 4 or 5 hours, near some water or something really fun and peaceful. Also, reasonable hotel prices since gas is so high and hopefully pet friendly, I would like to bring my little dog with us. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • I had a lot of fun in Helen, GA. There are some nice cabins that you can rent fairly inexpensively from the state park service and they_re really nice.
    Happy Birthday!!

  • Hey, my family just moved to Georgia and i went down in march. They live in cumming GA which is about an hour north of atlanta, and there is a nice lake there and it is very nice there! But atlanta is fun also..i went to the Georgia Aquriam..that was alot of fun, and there is also the Coco-Cola museum which might be fun as well!!

  • Savannah is about 4.5 hours away and it has tons of culture and water. Tybee Island is serene; especially on the boardwalk in the morning.

  • Closest beaches... Hilton Head, SC -- 4-5 hrs away. You could also go to the Savannah area and try Jeckyl Island or Tybee Island. Or.... head down south and try Gulf Shores AL, Perdido FL, Destin FL.

  • Congrats on the B_Day.
Have you thought about a trip toward Chattanooga? Not too far from Atlanta and has a lot of intresting sights and restraunts.

  • Why don;t you stay at Stone Mountain! We did and it was a blast. It_s a short MARTA trip into the heart of the city.

  • Blue Ridge Georgia is only a 90 minute drive from Atlanta.

There are loads of mountain cabins to choose from. You_ll find the basic back in the woods type with limited ammenities to luxury with all the ammenities including wireless internet, satellite TV, upscale log furniture, game room, screen porch with hot tub and wood burning fireplace, mountain views _ more!

    AREA ACTIVITIES:
Ocoee River - White Water Rafting, Kayaking
Lake Blue Ridge and Lake Nottely - swimming, fishing, picnics
    Toccoa River - tubing, fishing
Blue Ridge Marina - jet ski and boat rentals
Aska Adventure Wilderness Area - hiking and biking
    Horesback riding, golf, sightseeing
Old Fashioned Swan Drive-In Movie Theatre
Blue Ridge Scenic Railway - Take a 4 hour train ride along the Toccoa River and through the Mountains with a short layover in neighboring TN
    Day Spa

I have a luxury mountain cabin but I don_t allow pets (sorry)!. Here are a couple of sites with cabin rentals. Many allow pets.
