How much time should I spend at Universal Studios?|191613

I am splitting the day into two. I have express passes and 1-day 2-park admission tickets. How much time should I spend at Universal Studios before going to Islands? Keep in mind I have express pass.

  • 9-2 IOA 2-close US

  • At least half a day. Get there at opening time!
  • About the bus line between Atlantic city and New york city. How exactly does it work?|189230

There is a bus line goes from New York to Atlantic City called lucky streak. I think people take it because they can get their money back when they come back to New York. But how exactly does it work? Do I need to be a frequent rider to get on that bus? how much do I pay initially and how much do they give me back? Thank you for reading the whole thing. Hope my crapy English doesn_t bother you that much.

  • Ahh, the gambling bus. I_ve taken it many times. You buy your ticket at the Port Authority Bus station in NYC. Do not buy a ticket to Atlantic City, they will only give you a ticket to the town, not to the casinos, you won_t get your voucher. You must tell them you want the bus to the casinos!! The ride is about $23 or $27 round trip. I don_t remember exactly. You pay full price in NY and when you get to the casinos, depending on how they_re doing that day you get money back. The people on the bus are total gamblers, they always know which casinos are paying out best, different casinos pay out different amounts. The bus stops at several casinos, once I got off at Harrahs and got 14 dollars back, once I only got 8 at Caesars. You do not get any money when you come back to NY, you only get the money when the bus gets to the casinos. Have fun.
  • What is there to do in South East Michigan with a 1 year old in winter?|162274

My hubby and I are new to parenthood. We adopted out little girl this summer and are looking for things to do in Southeast MI over the winter. Any ideas?

  • Go to the Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth and stay the night. I take my kids there every winter and we all have a blast. They have 5 indoor pools including 2 kiddie pools (one is only a foot deep). They also have an indoor mini golf, a huge game room with prizes, restaurant and gift shops. The rooms are nice too. If it_s not too cold, they do have nice little outdoor shops in walking distance. The price is well worth the fun you_ll have. Trust me!!

  • campus martcius(sp?) take her ice skating and to the winter blast...im taking my neice to that (if its not toooo cold)..she_ll have SOOOO much fun!!

  • Play in the snow, bake cookies, color with crayons. For events, go to clickondetroit.com.

  • Nothing.

    Isnt Fun by itself?

  • Maybe sledding, building snowmen, snow angels.

  • Yippy usually has some caroling going on in the downtown area. Social exposure is great for kids.

  • Enjoy the cold and the snow.

  • A 1 yr. old is really too young to enjoy anything outdoors during a Michigan winter. Play indoors as you would anywhere with the little one.
  • How cheap can I get a last minute holiday to Florida around Xmas time?|163634

And does anyone know how hot it_d be that time of year?

  • I went to Orlando last December. The temp was in a high 70, it was great. I waited untill 7 weeks before i wanted to go and got a flight from Gatwick (virgin) for 300 pounds and booked at the International Inn for 7 nite_s it cost 190.pounds including breakfast, and for 2 people....you only pay for the room in the State_s not per person. I was in International Drive so next to everything. The only thing which i would tell you to look out for is the taxi_s from airport to hotel....get a quote before you get in the cab....they can rip you off.

  • Try Last Minute or Opodo online. Both below.

  • The weather will be quite pleasant that time of year, but _cheap_ is NOT what you_ll be spending to go to FL around Xmas, that_s super peak season, and everything will be priced at a premium. Now, if you_re willing to go between Thanksgiving and Christmas, then you_ll probably find a heck of a great deal, but plan on being out of there before Christmas week. Good luck!

  • i live in orlando year around, and in december it is still around 70 in the day, and 50s at night. i have a pool, i swim year around

  • it depends on who the gift is for but you can go as gheap as $10 for a good gift for parents and grandparents!!!!!

  • It is going to be very difficult to get a cheap flight to Orlando anywhere near the holdiay rush. The week between Christmas and New Year_s is their busiest week.

I would advise getting your airline arrangements made ASAP.

  • its cold here too! just because we are in the south doesnt exclude us from winter in the northern hemisphere...we ar in the northere hemisphere to!!!...go to Austrailia its summer there

  • Last minute around Christmas is going to be hard. It is a popular area for people to go for vacation and rooms will book month in advance. You may be able to find a room available, but you won_t likely find a lower price. A lot of hotels won_t even offer discounted rates around Christmas time, just because there is no need to.

It also depends on what you are wanting to do. If you are wanting to go to Disney, it is almost definite that you won_t get a discount. And, what Disney does with discounts, they put a code out a few months before travel (currently for dates in August and September) Since Disney can sell out of rooms pretty quickly, or particular room types, most people book months in advance and then they apply or their agent applies the discount when it comes out. It isn_t guarenteed that this discount will come out, Disney does not offer last minute specials and if they do it is for Florida residents, and if you wait too long to book, you may not be able to get any discount or you may not be able to find a hotel.

If you are just wanting to be in the area, then you can usually find a room. You just can_t be real specific about where you stay. Usually, offsite hotels offer the lowest rates if you book directly with them. Other than that, you can try a site like Priceline. I_m not a real fan of these sites, there can be a lot of problems, they aren_t real accurate and many times you don_t save any money, sometimes they charge more. But, you could try Priceline and put in a really low rate, you may get lucky. Just be aware, that you don_t always get what you ask for on Priceline, i.e. location, stars, etc. If you do something like this, you should go ahead and try to book now. Waiting till the last minute can be bad because you never know what will happen. If you book your air now, for the best rates, you may not be able to get a room later. But, if you wait to book your air until you have your room, the air my double or trip in price. I had a friend that was going to go on a trip with me in September, I told them to get the air once I had all of the reservations set up. They decided to wait. When I told them to purchase it, the price was like $220 per person. They looked a week or so ago and air is now $900+ per person, for September.

December if really beautiful in Orlando. The highs will be around 70, lows around the 50s. Mornings and nights can be chilly, so you will want a sweater or jacket. But, in the afternoon, the sun can be pretty warm, so a lighter shirt would help. If you plan to be around the water, it can also be a little chilly. If you are used to cold, snowy winters, it won_t be a problem for you and most people can still swim. It is never really cold, but it can be a little on the cold side if the sun doesn_t come out.

  • I would try to go the first 2 weeks of December. The week of Christmas is crazy with the crowds.

I don_t know what the weather would be like, but I would assume it would be better than freezing. However, I have seen times when the temps get to 32 F or lower. But that isn_t the norm.

You should shop around for the best deals. but don_t wait too long! And once you have made a decision and purchased your tickets, don_t keep going back to see if they get cheaper! you will only get depressed if you find something for less than you have already paid. (my sister does this all the time _ it drives me crazy!)

  • try here
    http://www.gogowwv.com/home/default.asp

  • The two weeks before C-mas at Disney has the best deals. You won_t be disappointed. C-mas time and New Years are the busiest time for Disney. We went in 2004 and had a terrific time, but a cold front had just come in and it was 40 for the high... but then again, it snowed in Texas... that doesn_t happen often. The neat thing about c-mas time is how pretty the park is. At night, on main street, Disney blows tiny bubbles in the air and it looks like snow... and at MGM there is a light show on the back lot that is unbelievable. They have a big lighting ceremony. Wonderful. We were there for C-mas day and we went to Epcot to listen to the c-mas story. Disney has a famous person come and read it while a beautiful choir accompanies him... we saw Gary Sinese Good time. You won_t be disappointed. Go early for cheaper rates.

What does your weekend usually consist of?|175937

I was just wondering what other people do on the weekends I usually go to the beach, movies, shopping and down to Pointe Orlando. I live in Florida and was wondering what others do for fun.

  • well i live in maryland
most weekends i go 2 d.c and skateboard
    movies with friends
hang at my friends house and play games
    chat over the computer
    and that_s just about it........
we run from cops when we get caught skating in the wrong area

  • Our weekends have become our really relaxed time. Sleep in, watch some morning shows, Husband usually plays at least one game of golf, I read, research stuff I am interested in on the internet. Usually, we get some yard work done and maybe some extra cleaning. Play with our dogs. I love these days versus running wround for birthdays, lunch out, etc. We_ve both become real homebodies-which works well with the cost of gas! :)

  • My week-end usually consists of laundry every week-end, and house cleaning one week-end, yard work the next week-end. Whoopee! Actually my husband and I are retired. So we work like a dog on week-ends then enjoy ourselves during the week when it_s not so crowded where ever we want to go or do. :D

  • i like to do things with my husband,, hes a redneck and all he wants to do is go 4wheeler riding..its fun but not all the time.. i been trying to get him to take me to Florida,, hes never been and i practially lived in Daytona..i just want to get away.. i need a break,, so i don_t have much fun at all honey but i try ....there got to be away to do things i like,, its always about him..

  • well i live in the middle of texas...so no beaches for me... =[
but i usually hang out with my friends, go see a movie, hit up the mall, maybe a party.
    its usually fun!

  • Gardening, swimming in my pool, entertaining friends, hiking,
and of course mowing the lawn.

  • Sleep, hang out with my friends and family, go to the mall, and get on the computer.

  • Friday night, Saturday, and Sunday.

  • A Saturday and a Sunday xxxx

  • work, sleep,
  • What is the name of the national parks in Maine were you see colorful threes?|174870

You see red, orange and beutifal colers.I saw it on travel chanel.I forgot the name of the park.

  • Maybe you are thinking of The Arcadia National Park on Main_s coastline.
The link below provides park information:

    http://www.acadia.national-park.com/

Or it could be the Appalachian National Scenic Trail:

    http://www.nps.gov/appa

The above answer is quite corrrect, in the north eastern states you don_t really need to travel to a state park to see the colour. Drive along any road for glorious tree colour.

  • _The Arcadia National Park_? Try Acadia National Park.

  • Arcadia National Park. There are several parks. However you don_t have to go to Maine to see the fall colors. Any New England state has the fall colors. Maine, NH and Vt are very well known for the colors.

  • Only National Park in Maine is Acadia which is on Mount Desert Island near Bar Harbor. However, you can see the fall colors everywhere in New England, especially in northern New Hampshire and Vermont.

  • Live in Maine is right on. Acadia Nat. Park is outstanding in the fall or anytime. I lived there for several years. My daughter is named for the park, Acadia Rose.
If you ever have the chance, in New Hampshire_s White Mountains you can drive the Kangamangas Highway,(spelling??). This is a very beautiful drive that runs through the mountains.

  • I live in Maine, and there are a few. There is Arcadia Park and another very good one is Baxter State Park. I have been to both, and they are both very good.
  • What is the best way to get from Santa Maria, California to Whitney Portal?|175832

East on 166 to Bakersfield, across to Tehachapis to Mojave and 14 North. Or south through Ventura and across to 14 North.

  • You are much better off crossing on the 166 to Bakersfield, but from there you should take the 58 to Mojave and then up the 14. That will be a lot faster than crossing the 178 to the 14.

Hope you have a reservation if you plan to climb Mt Whitney.

How to deal with moving to a new state?|162455

I_m 14 years old and I_ve always lived in the Northeast. My family has been planning for a long time to move to Florida (at the time it wasn_t something we really took seriously) but my dad got a job there so he_ll be moving in the spring and the rest of us will go after my school year is over. I_m really excited and at the same time I_m extremely sad to be leaving all my lifelong friends. I_m looking for some advice about new school, etc, and maybe some personal experiences?

  • i_m 15 but i was only 14 when i moved from california to idaho. i had lived in california my whole life and was dealing with my parents getting a divorce because my dad was having an affair. i was so scared to start a whole new school and to make new friends on top of all the stuff i was dealing with. my secret was i joined volleyball. practices were a week before school started, so i made a lot friends there and then met more people from them, eventually i found the right people i wanted to hang out with. but if your not a sports person you should just be confident that you will be okay the first day because you will be. it does take a little time to find the right friends you want to hang out with but just don_t try to offend people and be friendly and it will all work out. its hard leaving your friends but its like the old saying make new friends keep the old one is silver and the others gold. hah sounds lame but its very true.

  • I was born in Alaska and lived there until the Night before my Fourteenth Birthday. I am almost Fifteen Now. I moved to Missouri and hate Everything Except the Weather. My Town Hates Newcomers and I hate that fact that they do. I made some Friends but not very many, just one Family. You just have to be Confident and Brave and meet new people, throw yourself out there, and be Friendly. You_ll make Friends eventually, if you don_t want to go to a New School, Homeschool that_s what I do.

  • I don_t quite understand how your family want to move to this crappy state of Florida full of bugs and all flat with no mountains but sand everywhere you go.this is the Deep South, the ugliest part of the USA full of poverty and uneducated folks that look dirty in appearance and use foul English.
  • What month is it best time to go to Los Angeles?|161388

I live in Melbourne,Australia and planning to go to Los Angeles(America) in 2009
when is the best time to go in terms of weather etc,
    where should we visit
    good accomodation near theme parks
what theme parks does LA have?

  • Best time to go is late September, when the tourists have left town and the rates are low. The weather is mild (although it may still be hot). Another popular time is in the spring, but avoid the weeks just before and after Easter, when rates are high and so are crowds. Late April is usually very nice.

There are literally hundreds of things to do here in LA. Here is my list of must sees. Visit as many as you have time for.:

Disneyland: The Happiest Place on Earth. Half a billion visitors cant be wrong. (Sometimes it seems all at once)

Universal Studios: A theme park that grew out of a studio tour.

Even if you dont visit Disneyland or Universal Studios Tour, Downtown Disney District and Universal City Walk are very fun places to visit for shopping and eating. And theyre free to visit.

Other theme parks include Knott_s Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Hollywood: Enjoy the Walk of Fame, Entertainment Museum, Chinese Theatre and more. You can see a lot for free. The Hollywood _ Highland complex is AMAZING. It looks has lots of shops and restaurants, and the Kodak Theater (home of the Academy Awards). I also like the El Capitan theater, right across the street,

Rodeo Drive, 90210: Packed with exclusive shops, full of gawkers. They all came to enjoy the excess. Free, unless you intend to buy something.

Venice Beach: Los Angeles kitsch and over-the-top culture at its best. Here you_ll find Muscle Beach, street performers and tacky shops galore. Fun, VERY interesting, but I avoid it after dark, when it gets a little TOO interesting for my taste.

Santa Monica Beach and Pier: Great beach scene and a classic seaside amusement park, complete with antique carousel that has been in a lot of TV and movies.

Santa Monica Third Street Promenade - Downtown Santa Monica_s shopping promenade is often the scene of movie star-sightings. Just a short walk from the Santa Monica Pier.

Sunset Boulevard: Perhaps one of the world_s most famous streets, it began as a route between the stars_ posh neighborhoods and the Hollywood studios. It runs from downtown to the ocean, passing through the _Sunset Strip_ on its way. It makes for a fun drive. When you get to the ocean, stop at Gladstone_s for Fish.

Farmers Market and The Grove - A new shopping complex right next to a Los Angeles landmark, The Grove and Farmers Market coexist. Enjoy a movie or shopping, and then take the trolley to the Farmers Market for lunch or dinner. It is right next to CBS, so walk across the lot to see if they are taping _The Price is Right_. You might even get in.

TAAB: The Americana at Brand- The newly opened TAAB, developed by the same group that gave us The Grove, breathes new life into Glendale, and gives all those hip people in Eagle Rock and the eastern half of LA a great place to go.

Griffith Park - Home of the Los Angeles Zoo, Griffith Park Observatory, Travel Town, the Greek Theatre, and Gene Autry Museum of Western Heritage.

Getty Museum - The Getty_s architecture is so beautiful that it keeps me fascinated. No matter whether you like their art or architecture better (or maybe you_ll just enjoy the view), the Getty is sure to please. Free.

Attend a TV taping - You can get free tickets at audiencesunlimited.com, tvtix.com, or see the booth at Universal City walk. It_s very interesting to see a show being taped. The most popular, by far, is the Tonight show with Jay Leno. Check the NBC web site for all the details there.

Wicked at the Pantages Theater- Located in the heart of Hollywood, this is an excellent and long running production, the most POPULAR show in LA right now.

    Places to eat:
In-N-Out Burger: Multiple locations, best burger in LA, ask anyone.
Pinks Hot Dogs: 709 N. La Brea, just north of Melrose. You might even see a celebrity. Maybe.
Tommys Chili Burgers: Look for the shack, an LA tradition. The original location is at Beverly _ Rampart, a couple miles west of downtown.
Canters Deli: 419 N. Fairfax, between Beverly _ Melrose. Near CBS, you might spot a celebrity.
Phillippes: 1001 N. Alameda. Great roast beef sandwiches. Near Union Station and Olvera Street. Watch the mustard, its hot.
The Pantry: Corner of Figueroa and 9th, downtown. Huge portions, they never close, GREAT steak and eggs.

    Places to Stay:
Since LA is so spread out, there is no single place that is close to EVERYTHING. Most people who come here tend to stay in Hollywood, Santa Monica, or Anaheim.
In Hollywood, I recommend the Renaissance Hotel at Hollywood and Highland, the Best Western Sunset Plaza, or the Holiday Inn Walk of Fame.
In Santa Monica, the Holiday Inn Santa Monica is close to the pier and reasonably priced.
In Anaheim, I recommend the Howard Johnson (HoJo) Anaheim, and the Candy Cane Inn. If you want to splurge and make this a most memorable trip, stay at Disneys Grand Californian. You get the full Disney experience.

    Places to Shop:
    Third Street Promenade, Santa Monica
    The Grove, Los Angeles
    Americana @ Brand, Glendale
    Beverly Center, Los Angeles
    Citadel Outlets, Commerce
    Brea Mall, Brea
    The Block at Orange, Orange
    South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa
    Fashion Island, Newport Beach
    Santee Alley, Los Angeles

  • I would consider May to be the best month. The rainy season has just ended, The temperatures are warming up enough so you don_t need coats, the vegetation is green and growing, and the local kids here are still in school so lines at the touristy things won_t be too long.

The worst month is August. Too hot, most of the vegetation has turned brown and every [place you go will be crowded. I_ll allow someone else address the theme parks and accommodations. (A day or two in Anaheim will be worthwhile. Lots of attractions in that area)

  • well i am assuming you want sunshine. the weather here is usually pretty good but i don_t reccomend going in the early fall because we always get santa ana winds. i think the best month is may because it is usually sunny with a nice breeze. as for theme parks go to universal studios.

  • I would go around June.

  • any time. LA is gorgeous. but winter is a good time because it is not too hot and its a bit chilly. and look at the link that other guy posted. good stuff
  • When does Disney start the Castle Lighting?|172779

I am going to WDW in late November of this year, and I really want to see the castle lighting ceremony. Does anyone know if by the 25th they will have this going on.

    Thanks in advance.

  • the x-mas season at disney world starts around november 10th so you will definitely be able to see the castle come alive with the special x-mas lights.
  • Does anyone have any suggestions on a Hotel to stay at when visiting Hershey Park during the Christmas season?|172298

We are planning a family trip during the christmas season and wasn_t sure if Hershey Lodge was worth the expense? Thanks

  • Try TripAdvisor.com for comments from past guests about hotels. For a family, you might want to look into an apt/condo. There_s a list at HomeAway.com, although I don_t know for a fact that they have listings for Hershey.
  • How do I get casino and theme park resorts?|163229

I live in Los Angeles does anyone know about resorts. I am a single mother of 5 I would like to know of any discounts for theme parks places to take my family.

  • See if your company participates in
    http://www.TicketsAtWork.com
they have cheap tickets to california attractions!

  • i_m not sure about discounts....but if you like disneyland you should get a job there....even if it_s like the worst job on earth....you and your family can get in for free anytime you want as much as you want

  • are you coming to orlando? your question doesn_t make sense.

What is the best way to get to Fire Island from Manhatten?|149267

First time to NY soon, and was possibly interested in a day trip to Fire Island. What is the best way to get there and is a day long enough to hit the best highlights of the island?

  • It depends on which part of Fire Island you_d like to go to. If you want to go to the _party_ area (Ocean Beach) you_d want to take the LIRR to Bay Shore, the train will let you off not too far from the Ferry station (I_m not totally sure if It_s in walking distance, or a VERY cheap cab ride)

If you want to go to the more relaxed, quiet, gay-oriented (although not all of it is) you_d want to take the ferry out of Sayville. It_s pretty much the same situation as with Bay Shore. Hop the LIRR to Sayville and take the ferry.

A day, starting very early in the morning is enough time to see your designated area... you_re not going to cover the whole island (you actually can_t, some spots you_d have to take a water taxi to get to)

  • Fire Island has NO highlights. It is a weekend beach community populated mostly by the NYC gay community; it has NO sights, NO shopping, NO nothing. If you persist in wish to visit, here is a website with ALL the info you could possibly want.

    http://www.fireislandcc.org/fitrans.html

  • It is a very unique beach community. It_s either time shares or weekend/vacation homes. There_s only one part of Fire Island that is known as the gay area. Not many hotels throughout. Some shopping but nothing much more than local shops selling souveneirs, or family owned stores. I didn_t see any big stores there. There are restaurants and bars, the nightlife is pretty good in some parts, most of the island is closed to cars other than emergency vehicles.

You can take the LIRR (to exactly where I don_t know, i think it depends on what part of the island you are going to), but many people take a cab to the ferry, it_s not that expensive.

But, you say this is your first time to NY, so I say don_t bother. It_s far. It takes at least 2, maybe 3 hours to get there from the city. You will lose an entire day and you won_t see much there. If you don_t plan on spending at least a night there, you might as well just go to Long Beach. Fire Island doesn_t have many motels, it_s mostly timeshare homes.

  • i would start out early in the morning. Take the LIRR form penn sta. (mta.info will help) to station nearest fire island then commute the rest of the way by bus or just take a cab
  • What city in in NY is a good place to find a nice loft?|158607

When I turn 18 I am planning to move to NY. I just need to know an area out there that is safe, nice, and that has big lofts...Anybody know any places?

  • Lower Manhattan, very safe and very interesting. Do you have any idea how expensive it is?? Good luck, any way.

  • Well, Manhattan is a good place to start, if you could afford it. Renting a loft there can be very expensive. If you_re looking for cheaper accomadation, you can always try the boroughs out side of Manhattan.

    Good luck

  • I hope you have $4,000 to rent a nice _big loft_ a month or $1.5 million and up to buy one

What to do and where to eat in Palm Springs California during the HOT summer months?|146004

I know its hot as crap in the summer but have to go down for work. I know there is a water park there and golf. What other nice things are there to do in Palm Springs, Cali during the summer that doesnt involve a heat stroke? Can anyone recommend any nice romantic resturants? Staying at the Vacation Internatioanle Oasis Resort anyone stayed there before?
    Thanks

  • When it_s that hot, I don_t even like to go out. It_s just TOO hot to do much except enjoy the pool. However, the free bike rentals in the evenings are very nice if it ever cools down.
    Here are some nice restaurants:
Devane_s :Housed in a Spanish-style building which doubles as an Italian villa, this restaurant offers reasonably priced Italian specialties with pasta in a dozen different forms and plenty of pizzas. It is owned by actor William Devane and his wife, and the couple is actively involved in every aspect of the restaurant. Enjoy Lasagne, Gnocchi, Chicken Saltimbacco and other rich entrees. End with a slice of Chocolate Thunder Cake or Tiramisu.
Las Casuelas Terraza:Always busy, this well-run restaurant and bar, complete with dance floor, provides great Mexican food, friendly service and a never-failing spirit of fun. Sit inside for a little insulation from the hustle and bustle or grab a sidewalk-side table near the Palapas Bar, where the heated dance floor keeps people bouncing even when the temperature is unseasonably cold. Choose a tequila from the vast selection of premium brands while listening to the strolling mariachis, who start playing in the morning. The Carnitas are excellent
Doug Arango_s Restaurant: This acclaimed restaurant is discovered by word of mouth and from lavish praise in magazines like Cond Nast Traveler, Wine Spectator and Bon Appetit. Housed in a gracious, Italian villa-style building, it has a casual atmosphere. Ready-made take-out food comes from the deli case, but the dining areas are elegant. Wine Spectator Magazine continues to bestow its award of excellence on the extensive wine list, which features California wines but also provides many rare and imported vintages. A signature entree is Spaghettini Alla Checca, a vibrantly fresh tomato concasse over fresh pasta.
Lord Fletcher_s: As the name implies, this is somewhat of a British Pub. The two signature dishes are the Prime Rib and the rack of lamb, but there is a full menu of choices. Located at Palm Canyon and Country Club.

  • hadley_s in cabazon is a must stop

    http://www.hadleyfruitorchards.com/locat

  • The Internationale Oasis resort is a great place to stay! There will be a lot to do there- as long as you enjoy water! The pool is fabulous and there is a mini-waterpark, too. The food is good- many choices ranging from $ to $$$...

Palm Springs is also home to some nice museums: an art museum, air museum, and the living desert museum- although summer is not the best time for that.

Go on an architecture tour- some of the homes are so unique...

Downtown, there are also many shops and restaurants- with misters lining the streets to help stay cool...

    I think you_ll enjoy it!

  • ncblkgy---You go take that tram ride up the mountain, after reading this I am starving...I_ll see you later...

  • Take the tram up to the top and cool off about 30 degrees. Or get the hell out and get to the beach.

  • Ther is a wonderful water park. As to where to eat they have such a wide range it depend what you like and can afford.
  • What sets the San Diego zoo apart from other zoos?|171015

We are planning to go to San Diego in March and will be there for 2-3 days. Everyone says to go to the zoo. I know that it_s supposed to be an awesome zoo but we are not big zoo fans. Don_t get me wrong. We love animals but we_ve been to zoos so many times that it tends to get boring. What makes this zoo different? We have a limited time in San Diego and really want to spend our time wisely.

  • In college, I had the opportunity to go to the zoon every morning. I would be there at 9 am and leave around noon or a little before one.

The exhibits and the habitats are GORGEOUS. Very well kept and maintained. Lots to see! There is a LOT of walking since the park ground is HUGE.

If you choose to go to the zoo, be there early, when it opens. Most animals are active before noon and that would be the best time to see them interact with each other, play....instead of sleeping :)

Seaworld can be a little on the expensive side. It_s about $60 some dollars per person.

September is usually really warm to hot....so if you can plan it right, rent a beach cottage by the beach (Mission or Pacific Beach) for those days you are here, do the zoo or seaworld trip...come home and enjoy the beach on your off time.

  • The San Diego Zoo is famous for it_s collections of animals and plants throughout the world, and the Zoo_s effort to display each animal in a setting closest to it_s natural environment as possible - no cages and bars in most places, some renovations are still ongoing. They rely mainly on moats and enclosures to isolate the animals from the visitors.

I agree with you about visiting Zoos. As far as animals are concerned, if you_ve seen one Zoo, you_ve seen them all.

So I would recommend the San Diego Zoo_s Wild Animal Park, north of San Diego in Escondido. The animals all roam free on open ground (predators separate, of course!) and you ride a tram around the perimeter and also right down into the animals to get close up views you don_t get in any Zoo. It would be worth your while to see the Wild Animal Park.

  • You might enjoy SeaWorld more, since they have shows with trained seals, dolphins and whales - plus boat/stunt shows, which is very enjoyable regardless of age. There is a lot of walking at the zoo, whereas, at SeaWorld you sit for 20 minute intervals for the shows.

There is also Wild Animal Park, which is located in Escondido, CA, a community of San Diego. You can ride a tram and see wild animals throughout.

In Long Beach, CA, there is the Aquarium Of The Pacific and it is a neat experience, but it is a ways from San Diego (approximately 45 minutes to an hour_s drive).

Go online or contact the Chamber of Commerce and have brochures sent to you.

  • I_ve been to lots of zoos. San Diego is first on my list and the fort worth zoo is second. SD_s zoo is great because it_s bigger than most....and cleaner. The animals have nice habitats (not just a kitty in a cage). They have the SkyLine, which is like an enclosed ski lift that takes you from one side of the zoo to the other. Sea World is also an option. It_s a lot smaller, but has a lot of shows that your son would enjoy. Take your family down to Pacific Beach while you_re there. There is a roller coaster you might want to take them on. I would also suggest Little Italy for dinner one night. Go to a place called Fillippe_s. It_s great Italian at a low cost. Also, walk around downtown a bit...there_s a mall and movies! You daughter might like to go to the Fashion Valley mall...they have designer stores and stuff like that. Hope that helped! Have fun!!!

  • I have been to many zoos, but SD zoo is by far the best. The animals are set up with habitats that closely resemble their true one. There are so many things to see, that I couldn_t name them all. I can suggest their live cam videos of their animals and the park. That was you can see for yourself.

  • Beautiful scenery, great exhibits and a diverse bunch of animals. Plus, it_s in Balboa Park which also a gem and totally worth your time to check out. Don_t miss the variety of plant species from all over the world. They should be blooming by March and it will knock your socks off. Enjoy!

  • Im not much of a zoo person ether and i live in San diego and that zoo is increbibly boring the wild animal park in escondido is way better but thats just my opinion

  • Is there any main special holidays or school holidays during Sept and October in the US?|171496

Thank you so much for any help! Just any national (or state if you know!) holidays during these months?

Im just mostly wondering if I holiday during these months if it will be packed with holiday goers or not! But will also be nice to know if any will be on whilst Im there!

  • While it is true that the only holidays are Labor Day (first Monday in September) and Columbus Day (second Monday in October - closest to October 12), it should also be noted that there is often a university-level October break in early October. This is not a huge holiday - not a week long, and students tend to go home, not away for the weekend.

Many families take holidays that END with Labor Day, because school traditionally starts the Tuesday after Labor Day. In 2008 these holidays will occur the last week of August, ending the first weekend in September, but in 2009, Labor day is late, and therefore the first week of SEptember will be busier that year.

September sometimes has older holiday-goers who take advantage of the shoulder season.

But generally, there are not a lot of holiday-goers out and about after Labor Day at all. It is one of the quietest periods for tourism in the US. I usually recommend that people visiting Washington DC do so in late September/October because there are so few tourists.

  • labor day sept 1st, halloween october 31st

  • Labor Day is in early September.
    Columbus Day is in October.
  • What is the best place to go for a family vacation in the usa? at a beach?|143516

It would be myself, my husband and our 3 year old son. My husband is looking for a beautiful beach, as tropical as possible in the continental us. We would also like a place with activites for my son. Thank you in advance :)

  • florida has tropical beaches and disney of course!

  • San Diego would be a perfect choice for you. You would have the tropical beach that your husband wants and you could take your son to the zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World, or Legoland.

Two of the hotels that are tropically landscaped are the Marriott on Coronado Island and Paradise Point in the Mission Bay Area but there are others as well.

For more info on hotels and things to do in San Diego check out this site:
    http://www.sandiego-romantics.com

  • Look into the gulf coast. From Alabama on down there are beautiful spots to visit. Sanibel and Captiva Islands outside Ft. Myers are wonderful vacation spots. The island offers great sea shells and the sometimes a shark tooth or two. You might also think about Clearwater or St. Pete and the Tradewinds Resort or the Don CeSar. If you want to go further south look into Hawk_s Cay Resort in the Keys.

  • We always took our children to Seaside Florida. It_s on the panhandle. It is very family oriented. The sand and water are not to be believed! The cottages are all so cute and the town has everything you need. There are shops, art galleries, restaurants, evening family type activities. I just love, love, love this little town. It is a planned community and is soo safe.

  • Depends on budget, and time of yr., i.e. you don_t want to go to Florida during hurricane season. I went online and googled various states vacation travel guides I thought we_d be interested in, and, we keep them in one of those expandable folders. They have a lot of info re: kid friendly stuff, things to do/see, and coupons. Take out AAA for more savings - they will even plan your route out on a map for you for free. We have traveled places we never knew existed in the U.S. Neat places in the South, although during the heat of our Okla. summer the cooler climate at Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons with the mountain lakes and the geysers and wildlife were a welcome change. Make sure you check closely and find out if there has been any recent oil spills, etc. - we went to Galveston once, and it was oily and nasty b/c there_d been an oil spill from a ship less than a month before. Also - check for wildlife before you camp or anything - we camped on a beach at Port Arthur, TX, and woke up to see a dune 50 feet behind us. We walked up the dune - there was an alligator in a swampy area behind the dune! My brother is stationed in San Diego, and loves the beach and climate there (although he said the same thing when he was on the East Coast). I_d like to do either a gem mining vacation, or a lighthouse touring vacation next.

  • How can you find out when and where filming locations are in LA?|137971

I_ve lived in So Cal my whole life in Orange County but I hardly ever go up to LA. I thought it would be cool to see something being filmed because I_ve never seen a celebrity in person before (Yeah weird living in So Cal my whole life). So I was wondering how you could find out where and when a movie or TV show is being filmed in the LA area? I tried google but didn_t know exactly what to search and couldn_t find any good info.

  • Hollywood on location can help you out. But they do charge for their location lists. However if you have tourists in town who want to see celebrities, it may be worth the fee. I believe location lists are still about $10.00 and updated daily.

  • RyRy, Shoots are picked like the night before they are shot depending on what they got done the day before. They are not published except on the _call sheets_ given to the people involved. The best way to find a location is to look for the directional signs on telephone poles and such which directs the staff to the location.
The location manager_s assistant frequently posts these like at 5:00 am or so in the morning....

  • At one time the Los Angeles Film Permit Office would issue a daily record of each film shoot, and its exact location. In the industry it was called the _Shoot Sheet_. Unfortunately it is no longer made available to the public

  • trust me it_s rather boring. Most of the time the crew is setting up or breaking down. and the actors are usually in their trailers.

Where are some good places to stop when driving from San Diego to Los Angeles on the 101 or 5?|173872

I will be driving from San Diego to Los Angeles and I am interested in stopping at sceninc spots or beaches or tourist spots along the way. Does anyone have any good ideas?

  • Mission San Juan Capistrano, especially if your drive coincides with the return of the flocks of swallows each March 19th.

Also lots of beach areas along the drive, if you see water just turn off and stretch your legs....ahhh.
  • What should my girlfriend and I do in NYC for our one day trip?|158014

    Explore Central Park

  • It depends on how touristy you want to be. I like times square, she_ll probably love walking through toys r us and Sephora and the Hershey store etc.. but its a pain to be in those crowds for very long. Central park is a great great place in the city where you don_t have to spend any money. I wouldn_t personally spend the money on a carriage, walking is just as relaxing. I would walk in from the lower west corner at Columbus Circle and work your way up to the Metropolitan- that way you get a taste of the upper west and east side. Also, the Upper West Side is a great place to find cute restaurants. Just walk up Columbus and you_ll find something great and usually pretty reasonable.

Another fun one is going down to Chinatown/ Little Italy- if your girlfriend likes purses she_ll have fun bartering for a fake and its a fun atmosphere downtown, great place to wander. Just get down to Canal Street and have fun finding your way around.

As for transportation, if your looking to save money- take the subway- if you only have a certain amount of time though and you want to get on the other end of the city, splitting cab fare might help you see more in the span of a day.

One last thing. Riverside Park, if you go in around 72nd street is a fun walk along the river.

    Hope that helps! Have Fun!

  • i suggest going to central park. its very peaceful there.
also you could go to times square and just wander around. do a little window shopping. there_s that ferris wheel at toys r us which costs like around i think 5 dollars to ride. its pretty cool.

there_s also ice skating at the Pond which is in Bryant Park (42nd and 7th ave) which is this skating rink that has no admission fee. you only pay for the rental skates. if you have your own skates then its totally free.

to eat out i suggest going to Dallas BBQ at 42nd near 8th ave. its pretty cheap for a lot of food. there_s also Juniors which is a bit more expensive but like for example the chicken Parmesan (which is amazing btw) is big enough for two people then you can buy dessert for like a total of 30 dollars.

  • Take a horse carriage ride thru Central Park, its usually like 15 bucks per person for 45 minutes or so. Otherwise just walk and explore it! I highly recommend walking thru Strawberry Fields or under the bridge.

Or walk around Time Square and look at all the beautiful christmas displays. See the big christmas tree (which lights up on Dec 3rd!).
See ground zero _ walk thru the beautiful church across the street. Or go window shopping at all the high end stores. Honestly, the possibilities are endless. Just get into the city and take it from there.

  • iight max- find out what kind of food she likes the most (ex. mexican=taco bell -jk (like a nice restaurant chi-chis or something nice )) idk what else she likes to do? go to a flower shop and buy her stuff
  • What are the best National Parks to visit in the state of Washington?|142742

I love beautiful scenery, hiking, backpacking, etc. Can you tell me about your favorite parks and hikes?

  • Olympic National Park is the best one to visit in the state of Washington. Some spots I like the best in the park are Hurricane Ridge, Hoh Rain Forest, and Rialto Beach. Stop at the Park Visitor Center first to get maps and ask questions so you can save time and figure out where you want to go. I enjoyed auto touring and taking a few short hikes in the park. I also enjoyed watching the wildlife in the park. Everything is so green there, it_s absolutely amazing. Olympic National Park has beaches, forests, mountains, beautiful wildflowers and interesting wildlife. I highly recommend going there if you can only visit one park in Washington state.

Here is a link to the park:

    Also try this link.

  • What are some good time-consuming things to do on an airplane?|168233

Besides the obvious, sleeping and reading, what other things do you normally do on a plane to pass the time?

So far I plan on bringing a 2x2x2 and a 4x4x4 Rubik_s Cube, some paper and a pencil, my iPod, cell phone, and that_s pretty much it. (just for my small carry on).

Also, am I aloud to bring my own food on our does it have to be bought at the airport?

  • If you can, get your hands on a portable dvd player. Watching dvds is great for killing time. Plus, it might fit in your carry-on.

And yes, you can bring your own food. I almost always stop at Subway and carry on my lunch/dinner.

  • You may not be allowed to bring food since they might have restrictions.

To pass time consider playing with cards and play solitaire or bring an electronic like psp.

  • Get a book of crossword puzzles, specially the type that have no clues and just give you a few letters with every square numbered.

  • I would bring your laptop and watch dvds...

    Enjoy your trip:)

How is Southern California and Florida the same?|132600

How are they both the same and how are they different? Accurate and Complete Answers only please.

  • They are both the same because of the palm trees and sunny beaches. They are different because of Southern California don_t have hurricanes as Florida does
  • How do you travel between islands in Hawaii?|170610

We want to go on a trip to Hawaii and spend 2 night in Maui and 2 nights in Kauai. How do you travel betwen the two?

  • From Kahului Maui, the way to get to Kauai is by air.

You have many choices: Aloha Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Island Air and GO!.

I suggest you start by visiting all their websites. Fares change frequently because of competition, so you might get lucky and find a great fare.

Aloha, Hawaiian and GO! fly jets. Their service is OK.

Island Air flies smaller turbo-prop planes that carry 37 people. Some people do not like to fly prop planes, but I fly Island Air frequently and my experience with them has been good as well.

    Good luck!

  • Fly into maui for 2 days then get on a flight to Kaui for 2 nights then fly back to maui for another night since you have to leave from the same place you fly into and you really dont want to split 2 days into 1 and 1 it wont feal like enough time trust me. plus with the extra day you can spend it just relaxing b4 you have to back home. You can try many different airlines hawain, aloha, much more look online they have deals for last minute trips and 30 days in advance trips. One time I got lucky and the inter island fairs were 18 dollars!

  • by airplanes which take 30 minutes between each island

  • Very easily and quickly. There are hourly flights; you won_t have any problem. have a wonderful trip..... it is just so gorgeous.

  • By air or boat.

  • The main mode and most popular is by air. Hawaii air has flights between each of the islands.

  • you can travel by helicopter...

  • You take a bout or a plane, thay might have a ferry.
  • How do i go barefoot to pick my sister up from harlan?|142338

I was wanting to know how to go barefoot to pick my sister up without anyone knowing. She lives in Harlan,Ky and I live in Whitesburg, Ky it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get there _ I need some help to go _ get there barefoot. Can anyone help?

  • Why don_t you want anyone to know you_re barefoot? Some people don_t like it but it_s not illegal or gross to go barefoot, even in stores and even when you_re driving. Stand up for yourself and don_t care so much what other people will say or think, just go barefoot and who cares who sees you!

If you really don_t want that, you could try barefoot sandals, they_re like a strap that covers the top of your foot and leaves the bottom bare. Most designs are girly but you can easily make your own from a strap of leather, all it is is really a figure-8 around your ankle and second toe, attach the two straps at the right place near the toe and you_re done.

  • Lelars is correct. You are an idiot.

  • nope can_t help you with your problem............

    You sound like an idiot.......................

  • yOUR SPIRIT OF CHOICE and YOUR pAXIL !

  • I don_t understand the problem. Just go barefoot. Many people go around barefoot all the time. Its more comfortable than wearing shoes, its relaxing and healthy and good for your feet to be without shoes. Dont worry what others might think. most of the people are ignorant of the laws regarding bare feet. It is not illegal to drive barefoot and no state has any health department regulations regarding footware in places. Just do it.

What are the MOST SUITABLE STATES/CITIES TO STUDY IN US?|158489

I_m from Turkey and I_ll be graduated in a few months. I_m planning to study in a grad program about international business in US. What are the most suitable states and cities for grad studies?

Actually, It would be great if you give some school advices too.

  • Reference 1 has a list of good schools.
Being a foreigner is somewhat limited. You have to apply to several schools and see which schools show some interest.
The advantage of going to a school in a big city is that you will have more things to do when you are not studying. You will also feel less homesick in a big city where you might see more Turks and find more Turkish food, etc.
    Good luck.
  • What are some warm vacation spots in US in June?|131240

I live in Michigan and am looking for somewhere warm and within 12 hours driving distance. Love beaches and the outdoors. Vacation is the first week of June.

  • South Carolina! We_ve already had days in the 80_s. We_ve got lots of mountains on one side and the Atlantic ocean on the other. I moved here from Milwaukee about 10 years ago and it_s awesome. It takes me about 13 hours to get from here to Milwaukee so your driving time should be a little better. :)

  • I think Virginia and the DC area are about 12 hours away. I guess it depends on what part of Michigan you_re in. You could also rent a cabin in one of the Ohio state parks, in southern Ohio, like Hocking Hills or Wayne National Forest. Just check the forecast because if it rains a lot things will start to flood. Same goes for West Virginia.

  • I_d like to mount a campaign to encourage people not to go anywhere. Travel has become so expensive and unpleasant that it_s hard to understand why people don_t stay home.
Why are we crowding our highways and airports to get someplace else? Newspapers and magazines are filled with ads trying to get us to travel. They want us to go somewhere - anywhere but home.

  • Destin florida make reservations early , fills up fast.

    anywhere in florida is good

I would like to know if it is possible to book a hotel in Adirondack Park. And, if yes, how can I do it? On-line booking with the payment by a credit cart is welcomed.

  • Yes im sure..Just go to their site if they have one and check.

If not, search major hotels for that location online

  • Yes, it_s definitely possible. Just search online for the area in which you want to stay - there are lots of hotels and inns in the Adirondacks, and pretty much all of them use online booking.

    Good luck with your search.

  • Is Disneyland busy between Thanksgiving and Christmas?|141271

Our family is planning a vacation to Disneyland and we_d like to be in the park December 12-15 2009 so between Thanksgiving and leaving 10 days before Christmas but we want to know if it_s super crowded during that time. If that is a busy time what time is good for us to go to see the Christmas decorations?? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

  • That_s a great time to go. It_s never a ghost town, but there are optimal times to go to avoid the worst crowds. From the day after Thanksgiving to the week before Christmas is a great time. We went there just this past holiday season then. Very nice, although it did get packed as usual on Saturday night.
The park is decorated beautifully, and they make it snow at night. Haunted Mansion gets a _Nightmare Before Christmas_ makeover that_s really something.
I think you_ll have a great time. I do see that you are planning to be there Saturday-Sunday-Monday-Tuesday. You should be prepared for crowds on the weekend, especially Saturday night, but Monday and Tuesday will likely be excellent in terms of light crowds.

  • I_ve been the first part of December as well as the week after Christmas and both were good times with very low crowds as well as enough Christmas decor to make you wanna hang yourself with some holly lol I would imagine that the dates you_ve listed being right in the middle of Christmas breaks and would be pretty busy. Good luck planning your trip hope you have a wonderful time:)

  • Yep, it_s going to be busy. Like mid-summer busy, especially the 12-13. First week of December is much better.

Christmas decorations are all up on Nov 21, and there_s a huge crush Nov 21-30. Then it_s not so crowded until schools get out. I would avoid the first weekend of December, since that_s the weekend of the Christmas Processional. Town square gets really filled up.

  • For the past few years my family has been going for the Christmas season. And we find the best time to go is the very 1st week of December. It is the least crowded. Any time after that and the crowds get pretty bad. So if you can change it to closer to the beginning of December I would. And definitely go during the week always avoid weekends if at all possible.

  • I believe that it would be for that_s when a lot of people are off school/work.

  • It is quite busy but still worth it.
  • What do you like best about the idea of renting a Vacation Home Rental instead of a Hotel?|139180

I_ve been researching Vacation Rentals and alot of people i_ve talked to Really like the Idea. Whats everybody elses thoughts?
Whats the deciding factor in your decision to rent a vacation home instead of a hotel.
    Thanks

  • We use a timeshare place, with two bedrooms, and a full kitchen. I love to cook, and we travel with another couple. We all have privacy, and there is a great living area for TV when we are too exhausted to go out. Always get a place with lots to do in the area, like Orlando, Daytona Beach, or a place in the mountains. Hotels are too boring, and there isn_t room to spread out.

  • Well I like the idea of vacation rental or time shares because you can take day one and clean it from top to bottom. You can eliminate so many germs that way. Also it can be cheaper depending on the time of year. If it is fully equipped you can also save by cooking your own meals. Not that I would want to cook on my vacation.

  • i too recently starting using only vacation rentals: much more space, kitchen for your own food, usually not much more expensive than a hotel

  • we rented a vacation house at christmas in california. we chose a house instead of hotel so we could cook our own food, have the entire family together in the morning and nights instead of seperate hotel rooms, and we have little kids so they could have more room to play. honestly, for a family trip it was great we spent tim together and relaxed. if it was a quick trip or we had a lot to do everyday(and will be gone alot) a hotel is good, but the house was good to relax on the beach.

How much does it cost to move from san fransico to los angeles?|154159

How much do you think it would cost to have movers load a truck of two thousand five hundred pounds (one bedroom apartment) from san fransisco to los angeles california and drive the truck from san fransico to los angeles ??

  • The last time I moved, and when my parents moved, we used Wheaton World Wide Movers. They have a cost estimator tool on their website.

They did an amazing job of handling loading and unloading and have tons of _how to_ info to help you get ready. Good luck!
  • What is the best tent campground at Glacier National Park?|187977

I note that there are two campground at Glacier National Park - Fish Creek and St. Mary. It appears that Fish Creek is on the water. I am looking for the best tent campground and the best site at that campground. I am not really interested in being in a campground with a bunch of Motorhomes. Would prefer a more secluded type of place. Unable to do back country due to the fact that it is going to be just me and my young daughter.

  • Fish Creek is a beautiful site!

  • Since the only way to get to Glacier Bay National Park is by ferry, there will not be any motor homes (or cars if I remember correctly).
I would suggest staying at the Bartlett Cove campground right near the visitors center and the lodge.
Not to freak you out, but I personally wouldn_t be brave enough to camp there, we saw too many bears when we were there. We stayed in the lodge.
It is BEAUTIFUL there, enjoy your visit!
  • How far is Graceland from the Memphis Airport?|188751

My husband and I would like to plan a day trip out there and were wondering what the best transportation choice would be.

  • Well Graceland is about 4 miles away from the airport, should take about 10 minutes to get there. A cab should not be that much to get you there, and there are a ton of them at the airport. Since you know that it is only about 4 miles let them know you know so they take you the short way. I really have never had an issue with a cab before but, I like to let them know I did my research and I know where I am going.
There are also a few shuttle companies that go from the airport to Graceland; you will need to schedule them in advance. I have found that shuttles are more expensive than taxi_s, especially when you are going to a place so close. Most run between $15-$25 per a person and the prices varies from round trip to one way.

Also check out the Memphis visitors website, it has all kinds of helpful info, used it when we planned out trip there.

    www.memphistravel.com

You can email them and ask their recommendations for cab companies, this is a free service, these people are local and they know their stuff! I contact the visitors center for all my trips and they are always helpful!

Graceland is a great trip, if you are a AAA member be sure to show your card it saves you 10% which really helps. Also I was able to find a few internet deals that saved me about $5 per a person and since tickets were like $37 per person to do ALL of the tours at Graceland this really helped! Here is the site I found for that:

    http://www.memphistours.us

Well I hope this helps have a great time at Graceland!!!!

  • the Memphis airport is on Shelby drive, about 4 miles from Elvis Presley drive. a quick cab ride down the road. Graceland tickets are about 35.00 each, depending on what you are wanting to see.
  • What are the fees for the entrance to the epcot theme park at disney?|143647

My husband and i are planin a trip to orlando and id like to know the fees for both the epcot theme park and the magical kingdom at disney land.

  • The prices for Disney are $79.88 per adult, for a 1 day ticket, with park hopper it is $133.13. A 2 day ticket is $158.69 with park hopper it is $211.94. These prices include the tax. If you stay at a Disney resort while you are there parking is free otherwise it will be $12 per day

    Linda

    http://wdwtravels.com/Linda.aspx

  • for 2 adult base tickets for 2 days it would cost you $298 total.
if you wanted to add the park hopper option it will cost you an extra $50 per person total so you would now be paying $398 for 2 adult park hopper tickets for 2 days (lets you go from park to park as many times as you want in a day. there are 4 theme parks magic kingdom, epcot, hollywood studios, animal kingdom)

parking is $12 per day. so if you went to magic kingdom and paid $12 to park then later in the day decided to go to epcot you would not have to pay for parking at epcot.

  • $75.00 per person per day for one park. A Hopper Pass would allow you to go to more than one park (as many as you like) per day. Go on the Disney web site to see all ticket prices. The more days you buy, the cheaper it is per day.

  • I know there_s a way to get good prices. Take a look here:

    http://www.dwinsider.com/guide.html?hop=1j9d8t3

  • I_m not sure about Disneyland but for Disney World parking is 12 at both Epcot and Magic Kingdom each day.
  • What do you think about the city of Minneapolis?|144128

Whats up, Im 16 and I have lived in Minneapolis my entire life. I was just curious to see what its thought of outside my bias and environmental influences. What do you think?

  • it_s a nice place to visit in the summer.....

  • High crime rate.

  • cold, and white people that talk funny.

What are some awesome places to visit in Boston or Salem?|128076

What unique places have you found while visiting there? im planning a trip there sometime during the summer and want to experience all i can there.

  • I live right in the heart of Salem, MA and there is so much to do, but you can actually see all the great tourist stops in one day. Boston on the other hand - I work right on Beacon Hill and there_s enough here to keep you busy all summer!

If you like horror movies, check out Count Orlok_s Nightmare Gallery on Derby St. in Salem. It_s a museum, not a haunted house. The Pirate Museum is also good, as is the Witch History Museum.

One place most people don_t know about in Salem is The Willows.

    http://www.salemwillowspark.com/

Check out this site and you can also call and request your own visitors guide: www.salem.org

  • both cities are full of unique, historical places to visit. even without a detailed plan you will find interesting points of interest.

    http://www.salemweb.com/

btw, go to Salem Willows and get a chop suey sandwich. yummmm

    http://vacation.away.com/massachusetts/t

you really can_t go wrong with either city. but i might be biased, my family is from Salem.

  • Cheers is pretty cool. For a great meal go to the Oyster House, it_s the oldest resturant in the country, the cross the street and you_ll find all kinds of neat shops.

  • You can visit OGradys pub. John O_Grady founded it, he was some Irish Immigrant from 1867 and in Salem you can visit the trees where they hung the witches until they died
  • What are the best places to order a Thanksgiving dinner to-go in San Diego?|128347

I_m only having a thanksgiving for 2 people this year. I_m not sure if I should do the baking or get some thanksgiving dinner to go. Are there any other places besides Ralph and Mimis_s cafe that will sell thanksgiving dinner to go? Thank you for your help.

  • My personal favorite is Whole Foods in Hillcrest of La Jolla. My family and I did that one year and it was delicious.

  • A friend of mine SWEARS by Vons service deli for a full Thanksgiving dinner (he buys there every single holiday). I_ve heard that Henry_s Marketplace also has a pretty good deal. Shop around online...you may be surprised at what you find at your local grocer.
  • What is the best/safest area in Dallas to rent a clean motel/hotel at a reasonable rate and close public trans|140866

We will be flying into the DFW airport and vacationing in Dallas at the end of May. We would appreciate information on motels/hotels that are clean, reaonably priced, and in a safe area with close access to public transportation. We also need information on places to go and transportation to get there. Any information on vacationing in Dallas would be appreciated.

  • I haven_t checked the rates recently. However, I recommend the Embassy Suites Hotel (Northwest Hwy). The rooms are nice, the service is good and every morning you are there you get a full breakfast buffet complimentary. You are saving money with at least one or two meals here because you can eat from pancakes to waffles, from eggs to omelets, etc. For a nice evening meal out, I recommend the Grand Lux Restaurant located at Galleria Mall or McCormick_s Restaurant located at North Park Mall (Northwest Hwy). You can travel by bus to many spots by calling Dart Transportation 214-979-1111 and they also have Dart Train that will take you pretty much anywhere you want to go. Hope your stay here will be memorable and may the angels of the Lord keep you safe while you travel and stay in our city.

  • Public Transportation isn_t great in Dallas. Most of the tourist activities are downtown - museums, etc. - so that is a good place to start even though rooms may not be the cheapest. Take a look at the Hampton Inn downtown - probably your best, most economical bet.

There are always great events in Dallas this time of year. Festivals, plays at the Dallas Summer Musicals and a myriad of other theaters, and so on.

  • Down town dallas. Well the good part of it. Theres tons of good places to eat and tons of stuff to do!

  • Near the grassy knoll or by the book depository
  • What kind of highway is the I-29 between Fargo and Kansas City?|138776

Particularly between Fargo and Omaha. I am thinking of travelling it tomorrow. Is it a good twinned highway that is taken care of? I am heading to Florida (in Minot now) but don_t want to go via Minneapolis because the weather is not great. Can anyone tell me about that highway?

  • Its wonderful, one of the best of the interstates, very little traffic and flat driving

What are the best areas to live around Richmond, Virginia?|137416

My son might transfer to Richmond and we no nothing about the area.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

  • The Richmond Metro area is primarily comprised of the City of Richmond and the surrounding counties of Henrico and Chesterfield.

If he is interested in living in the City of Richmond itself, I can suggest living in the Business District, the Fan, or the Carytown area. There are very few places to live in the Business District, but what is there is very nice! Honestly, there are only about 4 major apartment buildings in the area. Two are brand spanking new. The benefit of living in the Business District is that it is located on top of the Shockoe Slip/Shockoe Bottom areas which offer a lot of restaurants and night life. The Fan is located west of Virginia Commonwealth University, and is a mix of students and young families. The only issue in this area is parking as very few of the apartments have parking lots. Carytown is further west of _The Fan_ and has less students. Again, both of these areas are close to theaters, restaurants, eclectic stores, and night life. Pretty much everyone who grew up in the Richmond Area or went to VCU has lived in those two areas.

If your son is looking at moving _south of the river,_ within the city limits then he should look at the Forest Hill Ave. area or besides the Stoney Point mall.

The main area of Henrico County is the west end, called Short Pump. This area is served by I-64 and has a lot of shopping centers, malls, etc. Lots of stuff here, but the night life is not as eclectic as Richmonds. If he wants to move into the eastern portion of Henrico (Varinan, Sandston, Highland Springs) it is a bit cheaper but he will have _a drive_ to get to everything other than a grocery store. (OK, they just opened up a new shopping center off of I-64 on that end, so he has a Target and a Best Buy that he can go to without going to the west end of Henrico.)

Chesterfield is wide and varied. Most of the areas that a young professional would be interested are located off of route 60 (Hull Street) and route 360 (Midlothian Turnpike). This area is a lot like the west end of Henrico County: Lots of malls, lots of restaurants. Not a bad area at all.

I hope that this helps. Good luck!

  • Glen Allen which is basically ten minutes from downtown richmond is where I live and i love it. I live in the suburbs which if thats what ur looking for makes glen allen a great place to live. short pump town center. innsbrook is the local area for a bunch of companies and stuff. everything u would wanna do is in close proximity to richmond and its a lovely area. west end pride woohoo
  • What are the most interesting sights between San Francisco and Yosemite National Park?|140273

Also, what are the nest places to inside Yosemite itself? As a first time visitor to the region I don_t want to miss anything exciting!
    Thanks everyone

  • Between San Francisco and Yosemite, I think the most interesting thing to do (if you enjoy history and old buildings) is to explore the gold rush towns. A few of these towns lie a short distance off the main highway. If you don_t get off the highway, you_ll never know they_re there.

There are different routes to Yosemite, and each passes near different gold-rush-era towns:

    highway 120:
    - Knights Ferry (off highway; old buildings, covered bridge open to pedestrians but not cars)
    - Jamestown (railroad museum), Sonora (perhaps the largest of the old gold-rush towns). These towns are a small detour from the direct driving route to Yosemite.
    - Chinese Camp (off highway)
    - Big Oak Flat
    - Groveland

highway 132 (not the usual route to Yosemite)
    - Coulterville

    highway 140
    - Mariposa

There_s a nice museum just a couple of miles south of Mariposa on highway 49 -- the California State Mining and Mineral Museum.

When are you going to Yosemite? If you go in the next few weeks, the waterfalls will be great, but the roads through the high country and to Glacier Point won_t yet be open. If you go late in the summer, the high country will be open but the falls will have lower volume (and Yosemite Falls will dry up completely).

Highlights of the park from now until fall are:

    - Yosemite Valley. This is the most famous part of the park, and one of the most spectacular sights anywhere. There are flat trails along the valley floor. If you_re a good walker, the Mist Trail to Vernal Fall or Nevada Fall is fantastic. If you_re a really good walker, there_s a great trail to the top of Yosemite Falls -- well-maintained but strenuous. There are other trails also -- talk to the rangers or buy a map/guidebook.

    - short trails in Yosemite Valley to Lower Yosemite Fall and Bridalveil Fall

    - Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. This has beautiful giant sequoias in a grove near the southern entrance to the park. You can make a short trip to see some of the largest trees, or you can spend an entire day hiking through the grove. There are much smaller groves (Merced and Tuolumne) in other parts of the park.

    - Tunnel View, at the lower end of the tunnel on the road from the Valley toward Wawona

If you_re there in the summer, additional highlights are:

    - Glacier Point (on the south edge of Yosemite Valley)

    - Tuolumne Meadows and the entire drive across the park on highway 120 to Tioga Pass (and continuing east to Lee Vining on highway 395). Lots of hiking trails take off from this road, particularly around Tuolumne Meadows. There_s also an incredible turnout (with a large parking lot) at Olmsted View.

Yosemite National Park is a big place, but you really shouldn_t miss the places listed above.

The other answer mentions Mono Lake, which is a good suggestion (provided you go after highway 120 is opened -- typically around Memorial Day). I could go on for more paragraphs about interesting things east of the Sierra, but that_s a whole different topic. There_s also more to see in the Sierra foothills (western Sierra) such as several caves open to the public, but they_re well out of the way of a drive to Yosemite.

    ---

    one more tip:

If you belong to AAA, you should stop in an AAA office in San Francisco or the Bay Area before you leave, and pick up maps of Yosemite and the Gold Country. (They also have a map called _Mother Lode Guide Map_ that highlights points of interest in the gold country.) If you don_t belong to AAA, you might stop at a convenience store in the Sierra foothills and try to get a detailed local map. The typical statewide map of California that many tourists bring doesn_t have enough detail for real exploration.

If you have lots of extra time and a good map, almost any minor road through the Sierra foothills will take you through beautiful uncrowded country. (Not all are paved, however, and most have lots of curves.) They_re particularly nice in the spring, when everything is green. (examples: The roads through Merced Falls and Hornitos, or Ben Hur Road south of Mariposa.) The main highways to Yosemite have lots of traffic, and detouring onto the backroads gives you an entirely different way to experience the beauty of California.

  • many people drive str8 to yosemite for 4 hrs, you may stop by route 120/49 junction and check some gold rush towns around, and explore underground. jamestown for rail trip and lake don pedro.

in east yosemite, there is mono lake, very erotic style.
  • What are some good prom locations in the Los Angeles/Orange County area?|115263

Im in the sophomore council of my school and we plan the prom of the class ahead of us. Our school has a contract with a prom planning company but their help has been terrible. I need help finding good prom location in the Los Angeles/Orange County area ASAP. Please no hotels.
*It doesn_t have to be a low budget venue.

  • Try some local Country Clubs and Yacht Clubs. (Wilshire Country Club, La Canada Country Club, etc). They have very nice facilities.

Last year, someone wrote a question about Santa Anita in Arcadia; I checked them out, and they are very good, too.

Sinc you mentioned OC, I HAVE to mention the Anaheim Convention Center, and the Downtown Disney Resort (Not just the hotel there, but many of the restaurants there have large private banquet areas, like Naples and Ralph Brennan_s Jazz Kitchen.

    Good luck!

  • THe queen mary is overrated. i mean,...its nice but i have something about low ceilings when the place is suppose to be grand. my senior class had our prom at the Long Beach Aquarium, and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! theres a life size blue whale above the dance floor with 3 to 5 story aquariums for walls. seriosly, try to get that venue. you will be praised

  • The Queen Mary is always cool and hosts events like this all the time. There are several Yacht clubs in the area that will support proms as well and this is kind of cool because a nautical theme always works. Depending on your class size you could also charter a large boat. many are available and this keeps everyone together and helps with saftey etc.
    Hope that helps a little.
  • How long does it take to send somethig from the Uk to the US?|124520

Someone will be sending me something in the mail and i want to know how long it would take for me to get it.

  • Around a week, depending on what mail and class you put it under.
  • Are there any parts of New Orleans that is very dangerous that should be avoided?|124415

Are there any parts of New Orleans that is very dangerous and should be avoided at all costs? If so, please let me know what these areas are, so I know to stay away when visiting this spring. Thank you very much for any info you can provide.

  • There is a public housing development close to the French Quarter (the Iberville Public Housing Development) and it has been the crime generator for the city center for decades. I would not recommend wandering through the development, but - in reality - you would almost certainly not have any problems as long as you were not going there to buy drugs or engage in some other illegal activity. The Iberville is now (since Katrina) also mostly empty.

There are no parts of New Orleans that _should be avoided at all costs_. There are no parts of the city that have been taken over by gangs, or where gangs have become like a shadow government. Even now-notorious neighborhoods like the Lower 9th Ward were/are only dangerous for drug characters.

New Orleans made the news because drug characters are killing each other in disputes. However, other crime is at or below the national average for cities. Almost all of the incidents the first answer refers to (people attacked on their front steps, etc.) involve a dispute over illegal drugs, and the rest are domestic crimes. The news media does not (for political correctness reasons) explain the actual motives behind crimes in New Orleans and the result is that average citizens _ visitors are made afraid - when they actually don_t have to worry about it.

All anyone needs do to be safe in New Orleans is use the same basic common sense required in every city in the world. If you leave your backpack unattended on a park bench it probably won_t be there when you return, wander off into the darkness with someone who promises somewhere you can buy _good marijuana_ it may be a bad day for you, and so on.

You certainly do _ not _ have to only travel in groups, stay indoors after dark, stay inside the French Quarter, only take taxis, etc. I don_t know where people get the advice they sometimes offer.

  • First let me start off by saying there are no particularly _good_ or _bad_ places in this city. Crime can happen anywhere just like anywhere else. The user above me speaks total lies because crime has decreased Alot. But to answer your question some _safer_ areas my include the French quarters in the morning and afternoon as well as uptown areas and also French markets are very enjoyable and _safe_ when visiting this city don_t keep that kind of negativity in mind because you will become biased when visiting. Keep a positive attitude and know that crime can happen anywhere and it is not limited to wat u consider to be _good_ or _bad_ areas. Also remeber the positive attributes of the city and not the negative things that you here because that is a very small part of this city rather you believe it or not. :) need more info email is alwaysheavenlyangel@yahoo.com

  • Unfortunately, there is still a lot of danger in New Orleans. People sitting on their front porch have been attacked (shot, beaten, robbed, etc.) by gang members and garden variety criminals as well. You should be very careful if you leave the heavily populated French Quarter any time of the day or night. It is sad, but New Orleans is overrun by bad elements and has not recovered since the bad guys surfaced to take advantage of the aftermath of Katrina. There is a lot of news coverage related to senseless violent crimes that are never solved. Just use common sense. Travel with multiple people instead of alone. Be very aware all the time of your surrroundings. It is terrible to have to be so _on guard_, but it seems necessary at this time. I have always enjoyed New Orleans and all it has to offer, but I would no longer feel safe doing the things I used to do on my own. Instead of walking back to my B_B in the early hours and enjoying the jasmine and aromas of early morning strong coffee and bakeries, I would definitely take a cab. Enjoy yourself, but being cautious is a good idea. Have a great time. The food, the music, the history, the art (and all the unique aspects of the New Orleans/quarter life) are wonderful.

  • There are no really _safe_ or _dangerous_ parts of new orleans. Crime can happen anywhere. If you go somewhere you dont trust then go with a bunch of friends and maybe just stay in the French Quarter a lot but remember crime can happen there to.

  • Near the Projects. Don_t go by the projects.
  • Is it best to stay in Yosemite during the high season or stay just outside one of the entrances?|125084

My wife and I are going to Yosemite from August 6-12 and we are looking at rentals in Yosemite and most are pricey and nothing special. We started looking in there because we were told there are really long waits to get inside the gates every morning during that time of the year. First, are the waits that long and second, how long are they. Any help is appreciated.

  • if you possibly can stay in the park it lets you make the most of you park days. waits to get into the valley can be hours long and day parking is limited. for visits outside of the valley waits are really not that bad.

  • I would drive 120 west into either Merced or down to Fresno. Yosemite is a zoo in the summer.

How does Austin compare to San Francisco?|160505

I live with my wife and 2 kids in the SF Bay area and could possibly move to Austin for my job. Can anyone tell me how these two cities compare as far as quality of life, schools, culture and outdoor activities?

  • In several ways....

    1. It_s very liberal.. They have always said that Austin is the most liberal city east of San Fransisco. I think that_s why we_re most known.

    2. We_re pretty gay friendly - That_s what people know San Fransisco for.. Gay friendly. Austin is also very gay friendly.

    3. Great environment - As much as Austin is growing, and we_re growing rapidly.. Tkae like the size of Louisville.. We_re growing that many people in as little as a few years. Anyways, point being, as much as we_re growing, we_re keeping an awesome environment. One person came here and said as much as Austin looks like a mini Houston growth wise, it is so green and nice. That_s the truth.

    4. Arts - Great art stuff? lol, idk a whole lot about that.

San Fransisco is a city mixed with politics, and university students. That_s the same with Austin. VERY political, VERY left, GREAT place to live, one of the best paces to raise your kids, the best place for Hispanics to live, one of the ebst places for shopping, and one of the most friendliest places. It_s a minuture SF, and pretty soon it_ll be bigger lol.

The weather is also very hot, but for the past few years, it_s snowed several times. :) so that_s cool. It_s usually in the 50_s- in the winter, and 90_s+ in the summer. Texas weather is very wierd. One part of town may get 5_ of rain, and the other part may get a trace. One day it was like in the 70_s, and the next day it snowed lol.

Sports are pretty big too.. The University of Texas is what most sports are tho, so it_s not usually proffesional.. Even tho austin is getting a NBA basketball team i think, lol. not to mention we_re not far at all from Houston, Dallas, or San Antonio. We_re like in the middle, lol.

  • You need to learn to like hot weather and live in air conditioning most of the time. Traffic isn_t very bad. It_s got a nice downtown. Great airport. Learn to like TexMex food. It_s very different from the Bay Area. Outdoor activities are limited with the heat. With University of Texas there, cultural activities are pretty good, but remember it_s Texas, not San Francisco. Good luck!

  • its the best. always something to do in/out. schools good, lay-back
life style. and the only time the ground shakes is when the UT football team takes the field. GO HORNS

  • I think Austin is great! I have lived here 4 years and it gets better each year. There is a great quality of life and plenty to do outside. Many people jog the 10 mile lake side jog trail in downtown. For biking Austin is a very great place. Bike Friendly Roads. Austin has 3 awesome lakes. Lake activities are very popular. Wake boarding, water skiing or just hanging out on a boat. There is also very child friendly areas around the lake as well. If you have a dog, it will love life in Austin. I think the most pet friendly place ever. There is also many safe and easily accessible neighborhoods. Austin housing market is also something BOOMING!! Buying property in Austin will PAY BIG!!!! Especially high rises. But all is doing great. Food is pretty good here too. MEXICAN FOOD YUM-MM SF is great but to expensive. I would say very comparable if weighing pros and cons.

  • Austin is 100% better than San Francisco in quality of life, schools, culture and there_s lots of outdoor activity. Good Luck.

  • I have never been to San Francisco, but Austin is a family friendly city. I have been here for 20yrs.

  • Look up the demographics at Best Places to Live:

    http://www.bestplaces.net

  • Better learn to love the heat.
Beyond that Austin has everything you will want except major sports.

  • Austin is hot and humid but a great place to live....a major university...top notch college sports....housing is much less expensive....lots of outdoor activities...biking is big (Lance_s home town)...best of all, its never going to fall into the pacific ocean becuase of an earthquake!!
  • What is the cheapest neighborhood in San Francisco?|174091

I am looking for an apartment while I go to College (SFSU). But San Francisco is an ridiculously expensive place to live and I don_t have enough time to commute ( I live 5 hours away ). And the doorm_s are filled.

So where is the cheapest place to live in SF? Thanks!

  • Here is a list of places renting in San Francisco, ranging from $500 to $750.

    http://sfbay.craigslist.org/search/apa/s

    Good luck.

  • Well the cheapest areas are around your school. Sunset (both inner and outer), Daly City, and maybe some spots in the Richmond District. Be prepared to pay about 800-1000 to live alone or 600-800 if you move in with roommates. Check craigslist...lots of places are looking right now. We just got someone new in our place last week.
  • What do you recommend for a honeymoon to Maui?|171603

My fiance and I are going to Oahu for two nights, and then on to Maui for a week to 12 days (we haven_t decided yet). Neither of us have ever been there. Any recommendations you could give about travel books, places to see, stay, or things to do would be greatly appreciated. We were thinking about staying at either the Sheraton Maui Resort, or the Westin Maui Resort _ Spa. Of course, we are open to suggestions. Thanks so much!

  • That can get pretty pricey if you_re there for that long. If you book through a corporate travel broker you can save TONS _ stay at high quality hotels like Outrigger _ Diamond Hotels _ many more.

We just used an 8 day package from this broker _ stayed at a 5 star beachfront condo resort in Maui which was gorgeous! We spoke to other couples who paid $350 per night at the same resort - we only paid $499 for all 8 days!

I HIGHLY recommend this site for super deals, plus they also offer Fun Passes for Oahu AND Maui which will let you do every attraction _ special tour on the island for FREE! I included the links for all of these below, good luck!

  • RN2B makes a good recommendation - I organized a two week vacation for a group of 8, one week on Kauai and one on Maui. We took the Fodor_s Hawaii book and one other one, I forget which. We found them to be invaluable references when you don_t have a computer handy or are driving around.

On Maui, I_d recommend snorkeling in Molokini, if it_s the right season, maybe a whale watching trip. I would not advise the road to hana drive on your first visit. Maybe go to a luau. If you want to eat at a fancy restaurant, I highly recommend either of the Roy_s on Maui. I usually go to the Kihei one as it_s closer the timeshare I stay at.

I don_t think you can go wrong with either of your resort choices.

  • I have a way that you may be able to ask your own concierge service, your own travel consultant about all of that, if you join this resort condo club. Access 5,400 3 to 5 star resorts and some of them cost as low as $149.00 (complete cost) for 7 days. The one time membership cost is also very affordable and has no additional fees for life. Oh, and you can share the benefits with your family and friends for life and its will-able.
Email me if you would like the link to look it over.

  • We stayed at the Westin Kaanapauli. It was awesome. our room was just a walk to the beach. You can rent snorkel gear from the hotel I think $10 for the entire week. We snorkeled every day!
The old Lahaina Luau was a lot of fun.
We did a helicopter ride. It_s expensive but it was well worth it. Just when you thought it couldn_t be a more beautiful place, to see it from above is just amazing! Blue hawaiian is the one we used.
Pick up a book at the book store, we took it with us and it was very helpful

    http://www.amazon.com/Fodors-Maui-2009-F

It will give you exact mile markers to certain places to see, like the blow hole. The island isn_t that big so it doesn_t take long to get to all the places. We did a lot of hikes off the rodes. Anytime we found a little place that we could park, we took a hike. We found a lot of really beautiful places just by our little hikes.

  • I found the AAA book very helpful... Maui is beautiful, you_ll have a great time no matter which hotel you choose. My favorite place is the Seven Sacred Pools.

  • What is the status of BearFire resort in dallas texas?|127671

Supposedly its been in the planning process for like a decade or so and looks like its dead. Any news on the project?

  • With the downturn in the economy, the project might have been put on hold as it was supposed to open Fall 2009:

How many US postage stamps does it take to send a letter to utah from texas?|124116

im from texas and my friend lives in utah and is soon to go on a mission to argentina...im going to write him but i dont know how many stamps i need to send a letter to utah, and also how many do i need to send a letter to buenos aires argentina. thanks!

  • 1

  • As long as it_s a regular letter/ envelope you only need a .43 cent stamp to send it to utah. For mailing to buenos aires I would check with the post office or maybe someone here can answer, you may need international air mail stamp?

  • It will be one first class stamp for a letter to utah and about $1 to $2 to send it to argentina.
  • How do I visit a NYPD Station when in New York?|124011

Hi, I am going to New York on Holiday and would like to visit a NYPD station whilst there. I would love to actually speak to an officer and have a look around.
Does anyone have anyway of contacting them or are you a NYPD officer??
    Thanks very much.

  • While anyone can walk into a police station, you won_t get past the lobby unless you have official business that requires you to go further into the building. Police stations can be dangerous places for visitors, with criminals being walked around as they are processed. There_s also the possibility that a visitor might be up to no good--trying to grab a gun, rescue a prisoner, or other mischief.

Native_s suggestion of instead visiting the Police Museum is a good one.

  • Burn, it will be better if you just visit the New York City Police Museum, located at 100 Old Slip in Lower Manhattan. The museum is house inside an old police station. It is dedicated to celebrate the history of the nation_s largest police department.

I hope this information is very helpful.

    Good luck

Im sure its pretty easy. You will probably call and they will tell you what their visiting hours are.

Good luck, and hope you have fun.

  • Have a few drinks and then drive above the speed limit.

  • well.. there is the easy way.. get in trouble with the law, you_ll get to see everything!!!

  • Make a stupid mistake! JK! Just call them and see if they do tours... LOL! I doubt it though... Good luck!

  • easy one this. Just get yourself arrested

What is there to do in the Rancho Cucamunga area of Californis?|110927

We are visiting relatives in Upland and would like some ideas of things to do. We will be going to Disney (of course), but teens get bored easily. Any art fairs, festivals, special shopping ideas?

  • Well there is plenty of shopping to do in the area and lots more. Within 30 minutes drive you can be at the beach, in the mountains or in Palm Springs. There is a new mall in rancho cucamonga called Victoria Gardens, has all the upscale shops like Hollisters, Urban Outfitters, Abercrombie and tons of resturants. Also Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear are a close drive. Depends on age of your kids _ what they like to do, but there is plenty.Dont know where you are coming from but the beaches are great, for teens have them go to Huntington or newport beach. The boardwalks are great and the ocean waves good for minor surfing and good boogie boarding. Upland also has a street fair I believe every Wednesday evening from like 6pm to 10 pm with bands and good food and arts and crafts. Its free (well not the food). Ok have fun there. I live there when not living here in Ukraine, you made me think of what i will do when I get back in 3 weeks. Good Luck.
  • What do you do when Travelosity makes a mistake, books a hotel on the wrong date and charges you for it ?|120267

We spent an hour booking a trip to Seatle June 07 with Travelosity in Sept 06. 15 mins latter email confirmed a hotel in Oct and flight in Nov. After another hour they canceled everything so we thought. The credit card came and $400 charged from the Hotel as no show. Now Travelosity says there is nothing they can do even though it was their mistake. After 2 more hours on the phone they say to contact Customer Service, which can only be reached by phone. Have they ever messed up things this badly for anyone else and what did you do.

  • i would call them and go off on them and have them give you ur money back!!!:)

  • panic. get stressed. shout at _puter. that_s what I do. dunno about anyone else tho

  • I would just keep calling until they resolve or if your credit card has a good policy on disputes, (like AMEX) you can always go to them and ask to reverse the charge and they will do it for you.

  • Never use them again. They are a terrible service with poor to no customer service. Next time use a real travel agent. Contact your credit card company and file a dispute and have the charges reversed.

  • I don_t want to throw salt in your wound but they are terrible service i find out just how bad it is when i get my clients from them because they were terribly displeased with service and were stranded after events such as hurricane and missed flights.

It is a great service for self help and the do it your self traveler but ultimately the support is not there. I would become a thorn in their side but disputing charges will definitely be the easiest route to go.
  • How much money should I bring when visiting Disneyland with my friends?|111596

How much money should we bring (per person)? It should be enough to pay for lunch, dinner, snacks, face painting, and a small souvenier (like a $10 thing)

  • Well let_s break it down by meal and event.

Have breakfast at your hotel - hopefully they offer a continental breakfast. You_ll have a full day of walking, so eat something that will hold you off until lunch.

Snacks at Disney, like most things, can be pricy. But plan on about $5 for your first snack of the day - say mid morning.

For lunch - this just depends one what type of meal you_d like. If you_d like something quick and easy inside of Disneyland or California Adventure, plan on $10. Although, I recommend you get your hand stamped and head over to one of the Disney Resorts or Downtown Disney for a great meal. Meals at either of these locations will cost you between $9 and $17.

Figure $5-$7 for your afternoon snack
This is a great time to head over to the Tiki Juice Bar in Adventure Land! Try a Dole Pineapple float - they are amazing!

For dinner, the same rule applies as for lunch. The only recommened restaurant within the park is The Blue Bayou , located inside the Pirates attraction (which costs about $20-$30 per person). Otherwise, you_ll want to head over to the Jazz Kitchen or Rainforest Cafe for a great meal in Downtown Disney. For Blue Bayou, I recommend you make your dining reservations in advance, by calling: 714-781-DINE. You should make a reservation for whichever restaurant you choose for dinner. Cost wise for Dinner, plan on spending about $25 per person.

For souveniers, face painting, etc.. plan on bringing about $50-$60 per person.

So all together, you_d want to bring about $100.00 or more for your Disneyland day!

    Have a great time!

  • I live in so cal and go there twice a year and we spend at least $100 per person in food, face painting, toy, snack. So better to take more to be safe than sorry.

  • Face painting? At Dis? 10$ thing? Yeah right. ok. Take a good 300.00 you_ll be ok for about a day.

  • In addition to money for meals and souvenirs, don_t forget that parking and entrance fees alone can run close to $100.00 Its a great experience to have at least once in your life time, but it isn_t cheap.

  • Well it depends on what you plan to do in Disneyland. Food and souveniers are more expensive then what you would expect. I say about $100.00 each, but it all depends on how you plan to spend your money.

  • At least $100. $200 or more is ideal. Its very expensive.

  • Bring about 200 bucks. No joke
I grew up there and visited all the time if you are only going once then you got to get it all at once. Food is expensive and souveniers are too. A balloon is like 7.50... sorry if that puts you off but its an experience of a lifetime.

  • mmm $200 or $155

  • $40-$50. It depends upon how expensive the meals are, and how many snacks you buy. But, that should do it, bare minimums.

    Have fun on your trip!

  • Disneyland is very expensive, believe me. I went with my school for a special event and it was so expensive. $100 or more should be enough. Depending on how long you will stay. Per day its about $50 at LEAST. Water, for about half the size of a regular water bottle is $3.50. And most of the snacks are around $10, if you really want a good snack. Also be prepared for long lines.

    Hope my advice helped!
  • How many days should we spend in New Orleans during Christmas?|160205

When I watched TV the other night, the government Officials encouraged tourists to visit New Orleans. They said it helped building up the economy. So, me and my friend are thinking a vacation to New Orleans during Christmas.

How many days should we spend in New Orleans? We want to see the French Quarter. But, if we go during Christmas, can we see anything? Besides the French Quarter, what else can we do? Remember we only have 3 days. We don_t want to spend too much time on traffic.

Any good eating places in New Orleans?

    Please advise. Thanks!

  • We haven_t been since the floods, but before that we went several times.....once the day after xmas. Stayed till NewYear_s eve. LOTS to do and a whole lot of fun.

Any good places to eat???? LOL.....LOTS of WONDERFUL places.

Try Mulates and some of the other well-known places. Go to a bookstore and get yourself a Fodor_s guide to New Orleans. It_s well worth the money and it_ll help you hit the good spots for sure.

Check out the garden district and the downtown areas, as well as the French Quarter. It_s fun everywhere. Be sure to take a riverboat cruise.....there_s a really good aquarium there....go to the revolving restuarant at the top of the World Tower (not sure of the name, but it_s the tallest building along the waterfront)....great shopping mall on the waterfront.

Have fun....Wish I was gonna be there, too!

  • a week or two

  • at least a week

  • i agree.. you have to stay for ATLEAST a week. Just in the French Quarter alone.. you wont be able to experience everything in just 1 week. but for a start Yall can take some tours.. just go to neworleans.com .. under 101 things.. also under tours and attractions. You can take an awesome haunted history tour .. of the french quarter.. i_d recommend going to the 8pm one...
    http://hauntedhistorytours.com/

you can also take a tour on the Natchez steam boat.. you can choose to either have lunch or dinner .. while touring the Mississippi .. and listening to some great live cajun music...

    http://www.steamboatnatchez.com/

You can go to the River Walk .. The French Market.. go grab a burger at Port of Call .. Take a carriage ride around the French Quarter while being told the history.. as for food.. Everywhere you go will have good food... you cant go wrong when you_re in the French Quarter.. just make sure you get to eat Gumbo and Jambalya before you leave. Also .. you_ll have to try Cafe Du Mondes beignets (pronounced Ben-Yays) and their coffee. If you dont experience those things.. then you haven_t expereinced New Orleans.. and once you have .. you wont want to leave..

Theres ENDLESS things to do .. so enjoy and ..

    Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

  • a week in a half for christmas and new years, better make that two weeks. eating places? hmmm....not sure, but i bet itll be fun.

  • New Orleans is a city best visited by eating your way through. You really need more than three days to _dig in_, so I would give myself 5-7 days. Stay in the French Quarter or in the nearby Marigny. This allows you to walk around most of the time and still not be far from your base. You could rent a car for only part of your visit while you explore outside the Quarter.

For the Quarter, there is much to do. Of course you can go to all the bars, but let_s put that aside right now. Give yourself a day for shopping. There are antique shops, tourist shops, and assorted art shops on Royal Street and Chartres Street. There is also some interesting shopping along Decatur by the French Market.

For traditional creole cuisine, go to Galatoire_s, Arnaud_s, Brennan_s, Gumbo Shop, or Antoine_s. For other Louisiana fare, go to NOLA, Palace Cafe, GW Fins, Bourbon Oyster House, Irene_s Cuisine, or Stella. Have Beignets at Cage Du Monde, or have a full breakfast at Cafe Beignet or Petunia_s. There are so many restaurants in the French Quarter you would never have to leave the area to eat.

Other activities include: take a ride on a streetcar to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) in City Park. The museum is nice and is in a beautiful setting at City Park. City Park also has the Celebration in the Oaks event during the holidays. It is a nighttime display of lights and other holiday festivities. Magazine Street in Uptown has nearly five miles of shopping and dining. Mafazine is best accessed by having a car, so you can stop where you want and walk around. The Audubon Zoo is in Audubon Park by Tulane and Loyola Universities. By the way, you will drive through uptown and the garden district to ge to the zoo. Spend some time driving around in the garden district, it has some of the finest 19th century architecture around.

This should be enough to grab your interest. New Orleans is still the greatest place in the country to visit, maybe even live! Good luck!

  • Blow the 3 days I say 4every and a day ..have fun and eat plenty...PeAcE
