What do you do when Travelosity makes a mistake, books a hotel on the wrong date and charges you for it ?|108922

We spent an hour booking a trip to Seatle June 07 with Travelosity in Sept 06. 15 mins latter email confirmed a hotel in Oct and flight in Nov. After another hour they canceled everything so we thought. The credit card came and $400 charged from the Hotel as no show. Now Travelosity says there is nothing they can do even though it was their mistake. After 2 more hours on the phone they say to contact Customer Service, which can only be reached by phone. Have they ever messed up things this badly for anyone else and what did you do.

  • i would call them and go off on them and have them give you ur money back!!!:)

  • panic. get stressed. shout at _puter. that_s what I do. dunno about anyone else tho

  • I would just keep calling until they resolve or if your credit card has a good policy on disputes, (like AMEX) you can always go to them and ask to reverse the charge and they will do it for you.

  • Never use them again. They are a terrible service with poor to no customer service. Next time use a real travel agent. Contact your credit card company and file a dispute and have the charges reversed.

  • I don_t want to throw salt in your wound but they are terrible service i find out just how bad it is when i get my clients from them because they were terribly displeased with service and were stranded after events such as hurricane and missed flights.

It is a great service for self help and the do it your self traveler but ultimately the support is not there. I would become a thorn in their side but disputing charges will definitely be the easiest route to go.
  • How much would the average cost of living be per month in New Orleans for one person? (average rent, food ect)?|122216

Hi - I am moving to New Orleans in Jan 09 (from Ireland) and am looking for a little guidance as to how much I will likely spend on basics such as rent, food, travel each month, just an idea would be good. I am a single female. Thank you!

  • Rent depends on the usual factors - how long you expect to stay (can you sign a long lease?) and how nice/how large an apartment you want to rent. Short-term rentals cost more, as do furnished apartments.

Rents are most expensive (like usual) in the city center: French Quarter, Central Business District, and _Warehouse District_. Outside the city center you typically get what you pay for in therms of neighborhood.

You can get a decent 1-bedroom, unfurnished apartment outside the city center in the $800 to $1000 per month range. That doesn_t include utilities (power, water, phone/internet), which will add hundreds of dollars per mont to the total. You MAY have to pay an extra deposit for a pet, though maybe not for a cat (not all landlords allow pets)..

New Orleans does have public transit, and parts of the city are well-served (parts are not): www.norta.com

Food costs depend on how often you eat in restaurants. I have not been to Ireland so can_t compare, but a normal full breakfast at a restaurant in NOLA costs about $10.00, and lunch _ supper cost about $18.00.

  • Is a winnebago access big enough for 15 people to sleep or should we get a hotel?|100327

in comfortably.i_m going to six flags and knotts berry farm for 3 days in march with 15 of my friends and we are planning on renting an rv .it says that the rv sleeps 8 but i was planning if we run out of beds people could sleep in sleeping bags on the floor.

  • Maybe it will work. You should all have a ball! Take extra sleeping bags for comfort!

  • go to BookMe. You can compare prices on all the major travel sites from one location. It_s the only way you can guarantee the best deals for the best hotels for your money online.

  • What to bring to Mississippi for first time visitor?|137302

I_m from London, and I could be going to the delta region this summer.
What should I bring in terms of weather clothing?
Does it get really hot? I burn quite easily.
    Does it rain a lot?
    What_s the local food like.

  • The local food will depend on where in Mississippi you go. Southern Mississippi has a more creole/cajun/delta flare while Nothern Mississippi is more traditional Southern Cooking. For good Southern food I recommend eating at a _Cracker Barrel_ restaurant. They aren_t too expensive and are all over the place in the South, particularly on or near Interstate off ramps.

  • I live ni the Delta, about four miles from Dockery and 30 minutes from Delta Blues Museum. Suspect that_s why you_re coming. Regardless, it will be hot and humid. Hi temps. will range from 90-100 but the humidity is what will get you. Take water with you if you plan to do any walking.
It does not rain too much during the summer.
The food is mostly _southern fried_ but there are places to get healthier alternatives if you_re not into that. Fried catfish is a favorite in this area as we were at one point home to a lot of catfish farms.
Hope you have a safe trip and enjoy your time in Mississippi.
I_d be happy to try to answer any other questions if you have any.

  • If you are from London, then you will probably see weeks and weeks of sunshine. It will be hot, 89-99 F. Bring a bathing suit, suntain lotion, and so forth. It is a really warm state, but beautiful.

Also, we americans like the English accent, so you are more than welcomed.
  • Where would I find a nice private spot for a couple to converse in Chicagoland?|166838

Someplace romantic we can sit and talk about our relationship and such without having to censor ourselves for fear of being overheard. Northwest suburbs (Des Plaines _ Schaumburg) preferred.

    Thanks!

  • I_m sorry I don_t know the name but the woods between golf and higgins at 53 east of the malls. I_t big and quiet, you can get a jomba juice and go for a long walk. Good luck.

  • ned brown woods, you can rent a row boat
