Where can I find a street map of Manhattan which also includes subway lines and stations?|103235

It seems that every map I find only has one or the other, but i_m trying to figure out what line to take to get as close as possible to a particular address.

  • Hopstop.com is pretty helpful. You can just print out directions from the website.

  • OnNYTurf has a modified Google map of the city with the subway stations and lines all shown. Sounds like exactly what you_re looking for:

    http://www.onnyturf.com/subway/

Like any Google map application, there_s a search box where you can type in an address and easily locate the lines and stations that are closest to it.

  • Get a free subway map at the station _Token_ booth
  • Do you get a 360 degree view from the Signature Room at the 95th?|128087

I_m going to Chicago this June and am planning on going to the John Hancock Observatory. We are not sure if we_re going to go to the observation deck (94th floor) or the restaurant. The only thing holding us back from going to the restaurant is that we_re afraid we won_t get a chance to see a 360 degree view. I was wondering if there is a deck surrounding the restaurant, so that we could see the view from all angles? Or is there no deck surrounding the restaurant and are you stuck with the view you get while sitting in the restaurant?

  • You don_t even get a 360 from the observatory. There is only a 3 sided view. The restaurant has other people sitting at the tables, it would be rude to walk around to other tables in order to see the view.

If you want 360 you have to go to Sears Tower. Even so, I prefer the Hancock. More to do in the neighborhood.

  • No, there are only like 2 or 3 sides that you can look out of but you see all the important stuff. You can get up and walk around. It_s a good time.
  • How old do you have to be to drive in New York City?|128568

When you turn 16, are you permitted to drive to school with a learner_s permit? Where else can you drive and during what hours?

  • Do not listen to any answers saying you can drive at night or drive with someone with you!!!!!!!!! You mentioned New York CITY. I live in NYC and been here my whole life. Ask DMV yourself if you dont believe what I am going to tell you

In new york CITY (5 boroughs) you CANNOT drive with a learners permit, PERIOD unless the car has dual breaks (drivers ed cars). If you get caught your screwed. The only way to get practice is to go with a drivers ed instructor, or go to Long Island where driving with a permit with a licensed driver over 21 is permitted.

Keep in mind that the same applies to your license- you cannot drive till you get your class D license, which will happen either after you finish driver_s ed and you_re 17, or, you wait until you turn 18.
    Be careful and good luck

  • With a learner_s permit, you may drive within New York City:

EXCEPT at an MTA Bridge or tunnel or roadway within a NYC Park.

The vehicle MUST have a dual brake and a dual mirror.

You MUST be supervised by a parent/guardian, NYS DMV Certified Driving Instructor or High School Driver_s Ed Instructor.

You may only drive generally during daylight and outside of NYC NOT on a parkway in Westchester County.

If you are sixteen and get your license within the first six months you can only drive outside the city and nassua county (except with a supervising driver as above).

You can not drive alone in NYC unless you ALSO obtained a driver_s ed certificate (separate from driving school) and then only at seventeen.

  • You have to be 18 to drive in NYC at all, meaning that you can get your permit in NYC but you cant use it there.

A DJ license and permit cannot be used in NYC at all, which means you have to go to Long Island and certain places in Westchester.

Here is the website that will answer all of your questions. My best friend got pulled over when she was 17 driving to Kennedy Airport from Massapequa.

  • you are allowed to drive alone to school after you have taken the road test and received your full junior license (if under 18) and you can only drive from 5am-9pm ... at least for long island its like that...

  • Yes, my friend you are permitted to drive with a learner_s permit, but between the hours of 7am and 7pm. After 7pm, a license adult will have to be in the car with you.

    Good luck

  • If you have a permit you can drive with a person over 18. If you have a license you can drive on your own.

  • You can get your driver_s license the day you turn 18 but no later
  • How long is the transit from Grand Central Terminal to White Plains at the peak morning hours?|138598

This is my first trip to New York City and I have to go to White Plains on the Metro-North Railway during the peak morning hours on a Monday. How long will it take for me to get to White Plains from Grand Central Terminal? I need to plan so I get to where I need to be on time.

  • You will need to take the Metro North Railroad (not the normal train). Some trains take 50 minutes and some take 35 minutes, so make sure to allow at least 1 hour if you don_t want to be late.
check here for schedules and fares:

    http://as0.mta.info/mnr/schedules/sched_

  • The times range from 35 to 50 minutes, depending on the train you catch from the hours of 6AM to 9AM. You can use the link below to find out actual departure/arrival times.
