How long can it take to drive from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City?|108632

Ill be in Las Vegas and wanna go to Utah, still planning if I drive or take a plane.... Thanks for your help!

  • 7 to 8 hours. It is a nice and pretty drive.

A plane is quick and about an hour flight, but once you get into Southern Utah, and drive through St. George it is just really pretty!

  • The drive is about 8 hours by freeway with minimal stops.

  • A good 5 hours
  • Where is the best place for romantic camping close to New York city?|106541

I am 26 years old ,I live in Brooklyn NY and I have 2 days vacation, so I want to take my wife to a romantic beautiful place so we can camp , drink wine and enjoy the charming nature, any Idea?

  • You could take a trip down to Great Smoky Mountains National Park (in TN) where alcohol is permitted in campgrounds provided that the person in possession is at least 21 years old.

    http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/ca

Grounds here do not want to have people under the influence and partying all night long.

  • fire island but you will have a real hard time getting a site

  • You might look into the Hudson Valley.

    http://www.bearsystems.com/camping/campi

In the middles of summer your choices will be a bit more limited.

Fire Island is also an excellent idea. If you are willing to really _rough it_, there is a wilderness on Fire Island that will likely have more availability but you_d have to hike in and carry absolutely everything with you.

    You may also consider Wildwood.

    or Hither Hills

It will probably be crowded on Long Island. Actually, it will probably be crowded in any campground this time of year.

    Enjoy your visit.

  • rascal flatts and taylor swift are coming sept 11. to virginia beach ampitheater
  • How can you get from Villanova to the Tower Theater in Upper Darby?|132125

I know it_s possible to use the R5 and go into Philly and then back out but is there a faster way using the buses or another route? Thanks.

  • The SEPTA Route 100 Trolley runs from Norristown to the 69th Street Terminal in Upper Darby, which is a very short block from the Tower Theater. There is a stop in Villanova, though I am not certain where it is.

  • Well that sure worked out well - have fun!

  • Which is the largest and nicest park in Seattle?|130035

I_m planning to go for a walk tomorrow and get some fresh air.

  • Discovery is the biggest.

    Other popular park spots are:

    Alki.
    Greenlake.
    Gas Works.
or my personal face, Volunteer Park.

You could also check out the new outdoor Sculpture Park down by the waterfront. It_s free and has some cool art to take in while walking.

  • I live by Seattle. Discovery park in the Magnolia neighborhood is the largest park. Its great =]

  • I believe the biggest park in Seattle is Discovery Park.

  • Mt. Ranier National Park

  • O-o I_ve been to seattle..but I don_t know of any parks.
  • How do you folks in the SOUTHERN STATES deal with the HIGH HEAT AND HUMIDITY IN SUMMERTIME?|130702

Do you have to take 20 showers a day or something?
    Thanks!

  • we have a saying... i wasnt born in texas, but i got here as fast as i could. I_m originally from Michigan. It_s the same as the dreaded white stuff, you just deal with it. we have a/c and pools. bikini season is nice and long. golf in january. you cant beat it

  • after 28 years. i am still **tching.

  • Even though it_s bad sometimes, we have always been living in it, so we are pretty much used to it. It_s not like it_s going to be a big change, so I don_t really give it too much thought.
There have been some summers though, that even we can_t deal with it for too long.
Guess that_s why we drink lots of sweet tea and lemonade - lol
Sometimes, a lot of companies that their employees work outside, will start their shifts very early in the morning, then they would be off at noon.. That really helps.
    I don_t know of anyone taking 20 showers a day-lol

  • Air conditioning everywhere.
In your home, car, work, stores.........I rarely stay out in the humidity too much unless we are swimming.

  • Your body adjusts to it. That_s why we like to drink iced tea _ stay in the central AC in the house. You go outside to exercise in the very early AM or after dinner at night when it_s cooler. My mother came to visit me once in the Summer and was so miserable she won_t come back. LOL
I wasn_t born in TX (NC) but I got here as fast as I could too.

  • I live in South Texas..Its really quite beautiful here and green..The humidity can get pretty high and you get used to it...You definately need air cond. and the river helps to cool you off..They have tubing here where you can ride the river all day....On the Guadalupe..In New braunfels..Its really not that bad as they say...i came from Calif where there is none..Mesquitos can be more of a pain than the humidity..Storms are bad sometimes and get alot of rain..We had a doozy the other night with tornados a couple of mi from here..scary..The heat can get up in the high 90_s and with the humidity on top of that at 80% it feels like 105. Not that bad...

  • I live in New Orleans, which is one of the places that virtually defines _hot _ humid during the summer_. No one I know actually adjusts to it - they just cope. Not 20 showers a day, but often morning, afternoon, and just before bed. Many people just live in the A/C as much as possible - better than _indoor life_ during the winter in places like Minnesota because it does cool down some in the evening. I try to take a vacation somewhere cool (ex. mountains) during mid summer for a break from the heat.

However, late October/early November thru early May is GREAT. For example, the forecast for the next 10 days is a high of about 85, a low of about 65, and clear to mostly clear skies.

We pay for mostly nice weather during fall/winter/spring with a brutal summer.

  • I CUT GRASS FOR A LIVING IN SOUTH FLORIDA AND IT CAN GET BRUTAL ...I FIND A DIP IN SOMEONES POOL REALLY TAKES THE EDGE OFF...MAKES THE DAY MUCH EASIER
  • Could someone give me some infor about the Nikon at Jones Beach theater?|144183

I am planning on attending a concert there this summer and was curious about the orchestra seating. Is it fixed? Is there ever a standing room only section in the place of the orchestra seats? The reason I ask is I try to avoid any kind of pit/ mosh pit and generally have anxiety if I am forced to be in standing room only. I found some pictures but couldn_t see close enough to the stage to tell. Thanks in advance for any info!

  • If you don_t like rowdy crowds Jones Beach is probably the best place for you to see a concert, The security there is very strict and anyone causing trouble is usually ejected fairly quickly. My husband got yelled at because he was half standing in the aisle to see past the tall guy in front of him. I believe the seating in the floor section is fixed, I_ve been to a few concerts there and have never seen it without seats.
  • Hello, can anyone help me out to pick a nice weekend gateway around Chicago?|124971

I_m planning a short weekend vacation like a surprise for my wife, we live around Chicago and i would like some advices, a destination no more that 3 or 4 hours from Chicago, Thanks.

  • Even though I am a California girl, I was born in Chicago and lived there for 5 years. The Navy Pier is absolutely incredible. They have adorable little shops and interesting information on its history. If you want a classy hotel, the Raffaelo hotel is one of the finest. Tons of amenities, 4 and a half stars, beautiful classic architecture....it is just amazing. Plus, on hotels.com, you can get an incredible room for as little as $150 a night! The John Hancock Center is ddefinitelyworth seeing, and it has a free entry! Of course, Michigan Avenue and Rush Street are nice to see and shop on. Lastly, Grant Park is very pretty, and is fun just to stroll around in!

  • Try Galena, IL...cute trendy shops...creative activities! www.galena.com
  • Is dallas worth moving to from denver for work?|122587

I am currently going to school in Denver for my bachelors in criminal justice. I recently got recruited to apply to the Dallas police department. I got accepted and am trying to figure out if it is worth it to move out there. The starting pay is basically $41k. Is that enough to live out there comfortably? Is it a nice area to live in?

  • An income of $41,000 in Dallas is the same as an income of $47,000 in Denver. If your wife has an income as well, you can afford to live in a nice neighborhood in a city with good schools.

    http://www.bestplaces.net/col/?salary=47

I would not live in Dallas (unless it_s North of LBJ Freeway). Working as a policeman in Dallas is a dangerous job if you have to work in one of the higher crime areas, but that_s true of any large city. Dallas is NOT the _murder capital of the US_. New Orleans and Detroit have recently held that title.

As a matter of fact, when you rate a city by _dangerous crimes_, Dallas isn_t even in the top 25.

Richardson, TX is a city just North of the LBJ Freeway and Dallas. The city has low crime and great schools. The University of Texas at Dallas is there, and they have the highly regarded Richland College (junior college) as well.

    http://www.city-data.com/city/Richardson

Plano, TX is just North of Richardson and had the fewest murders for a large city in 2006. The city had only four murders, a rate of 1.6 murders per 100,000 residents. They have Excellent schools.

I have one relative who is a policeman working in the North Dallas area. He lives in North West Plano. Another relative works in Plano as a policeman and lives in East Plano (more affordable).

    http://www.trulia.com/for_sale/Plano,TX/

The average cost of homes in Richardson is $169,600.
The average cost of homes in Denver is $234,500.
The average cost of homes in Plano is $208,800

    That_s a big difference.
    --------------------------------------

  • There was a similar question earlier today - - was that from your wife? I answered that question and I_ll answer yours which is slightly different.
If it_s just the 2 of you, you could live comfortably, but not extravagantly on that salary. If your wife works too you_ll be doing fine.
The cost of living is less here, especially houses. I was in Denver last month and gasoline was higher there than it is here. I live in a Dallas suburb and personally I wouldn_t live in Dallas itself. Taxes are higher, crime is higher, _ the public school system is inferior. However, the majority of the suburbs are good. People are friendly _ welcoming.
There_s entertainment, although most of it is in various suburbs rather than in Dallas itself, and it_s different than you_d find in Denver. You may want to give it a try. Police are in demand everywhere, so if you don_t like it you can always move back to Denver.

  • I would not join DPD. There is a lot of crime here and DPD always ends up on the news. You should check out Grand Prairie which is less populated and has less crime. My husband and I live off of a combined $70k a yr and we are just fine. It is cheaper to live in Desoto, Cedar Hill, Grand Prairie, and lancaster. They are in southern Dallas county and don_t have high crime rates.
You need to think about the seasons because we dont get tons of snow. I am 28yrs old and the most snow I have seen is 6inches and that was in Denton. In the summer we can hit 110 and have 21 straight days in 100 degree temps. It rains more in Fallas and winter.

  • I like both cities.

Stay away from south Dallas. Dallas was # 1 crime city but I think its now fallen in status.

The median house prices/cost of living is similar to Denver.
Id say in this economy, if you have a good paying, full time job offer. Take it.
Can you afford to take a week_s vacation and visit?
If you go to aa.com ( am airlines) you might be able to find a cheap flight. Theyre both hub airports

  • You can live fine there for that kind of money. With jobs so hard to find right now, go for it.
And like any city Dallas has great areas and it has dumps. Ask the other people in the department for the good places to live.

  • Dallas is great. Much better than Denver. Denver has basically become crime infested

  • Don_t come here!! Reasons = Wont some sweet tea and ya ain_t from around cheer is ya? Ya must be one of them there yaky foreigners. I_m not kidding this has happen to me. So save you self don_t move here. I_d leave but I_ve become so ill from this polluted oil and gas land I_m now unable to get out. HELP ME !!!!!!

  • if you like to sweat alot. Personally i would stay in Denver. Denver rules.
