Is it possible to make a living as a full time worker at Disney World?|133086

I_m planning on moving to Florida and I was wondering if it was possible to make a living in an apartment while working full time at Disney World? Is this at all possible?

  • Yes, Disney has many full time workers _ is considered a good employer......but...but...but...don_t rush to move to Orlando just yet, Disney, like so many other companies, is laying off workers right now.

  • Disney World has really cut back on their staff lately, so it may be difficult to find a job right away. But you can definitely try. Visit their Career website, listed below to check current job postings. Disney park jobs don_t pay very much. You receive excellent and fun perks such as free park admission/main gate pass, which can also be used to get family or friends in for free. The benefits are decent and of course, it is a very fun place to work. But again, the pay can be quite low. So be sure to do your research before you make a big move. Good luck!

  • Yes! Disney has and always needs lots of workers!! And some of them, but not all, get paid very well! I guess it depends on what your doing (selling food, operating a ride, singing, dancing, performing, hosting) ..

  • Maybe if you get a job as a waiter/waitress at Disney World. At our recent visit, we tipped at least $25 per meal at the sit down restaurants. One of our waitresses had about 8 tables while we were there so I think she probably does well.

  • Yes, but right now, they are laying people off at Disney.
  • What are some great places to shop for clothes around shea?|131726

I am going to shea stadium in NY on Aug. 23 and i wanted to know if there were any good shopping malls for a teenage boy going back to school.

  • My friend, there are no shops around Shea Stadium. You_ll have to go to the Queens Center Mall, which is located on Woodhaven Blvd.

From Shea, you can take the Manhattan-bound (eastbound) #7 train (Purple Line) to 74th Street-Broadway/Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights.

Once there, transfer to the _G_, _R_ or _V_ trains (Light Green, Yellow or Orange Line Local). Take either eastbound train from Roosevelt Avenue-Jackson Heights to Woodhaven Blvd-Slattery Plaza/Queens Center.

When you exit the subway at Woodhaven Blvd, walk a half block to the mall. You can_t miss it.

    Good luck

  • How do I get from Boston Logan Airport to Worcester using Public Transportation?|142824

I will be flying in early on a Friday and I need to take public transportation to Worcester.

  • Simple. Only one transfer:

    1) Take the Silver Line from Logan Airport to South Station.
    2) Take a commuter rail train on the Framingham/Worcester line to the Worcester stop.

See below links for more information.

  • You can take the T from the airport to Alewife Station, and then take a commuter train from Alewife to Worcester. Here is a link to the MBTA website:

    http://www.mbta.com/

  • By taking a bus

  • Check out Boston_s official site:

    http://www.cityofboston.gov/

    Good luck!

  • Take the train from the airport to South Station. At South Station you_ll need to switch to the Commuter Rail, which goes out to Worcester.
  • How do you use the buses in San Francisco?|116161

Do you just tell the driver where you_re going and then he asks for the correct fare? Or are there machines where you drop your money in?

  • There are no fare zones for MUNI buses. So, it is a flat $2.00 for 90 minutes in any direction. Simply board and put your money into the slot. The drivers do not handle money and you should have exact change. All they do is give you a transfer on buses.

However, the subway (BART) and commuter rail (Caltrain) systems do have fare zones. In both cases, you_ll have a fare chart posted near the automated ticket machines in every station. You_ll need to know where you_re going to tell the machine to print out the correct amount. The machines - unlike the drivers - are programmed to provide change.

  • some bus stops have route maps which are color coded and with bus numbers to tell you which bus goes on which route. if you have to change bus routes you get a bus transfer from the bus driver and your on your way or you can go to the main bus station and get a bus route map. not sure of the fare but they have a machine on the bus where you pay

  • Must have exact change or a pass. There are visitor_s passes which are a really good deal and convenient and cheaper if you plan to stay in town for 1, 3, 7 days. If you pay, you drop it into a machine next to the driver when you board. Driver does not carry change.

Don_t sit in back of the bus. Tell the driver where you are going so he/she can call out the stop or tell you where to get off. I find other passengers really friendly and helpful, too.

  • It_s $2.00 for adults and $0.75 for people under 18 and older than 65, no matter how far you are going. The ticket usually then is useful for another hour and a half. There_s a machine at the front where you drop your money in.

  • you need to figure out which one, you can ask the driver. But don;t ask the driver for directions, but the passagener get pissed off when ther bus is not moving.

  • San Francisco has the best public transportation system in California but you have to know where you are going.

  • There are fare boxes at the front. You just drop your money in or scan your pass. The fare is either per boarding or per day, so it doesn_t matter how far you_re going.
  • Where is the best place in Alaska to view the Northern Lights?|107009

Im interested in visiting Alaska sometime during the Spring, and was wondering if the Northern Lights could be seen around that time of the year. Also, are there particular spots in Alaska that are great for viewing them or could be frequently seen? Thanks!

  • Hello,

I am a professional Alaskan nature photographer. I have a free 13 page guide to viewing and photographing the Northern Lights on my web site, www.northpolegallery.com in the News section.

Fairbanks and north are best - starting about the 1st week of September through the end of March. I advise people to come to Fairbanks the first week of March - it has been historically a good time to view, the weather is good for viewing, and they have the International Ice Carving Festival and dog sled races going on. The ice festival is a good photo op both day and nightime. This time frame works great because if the northern lights are not happening - you still have things to see and do.

Feel free to email me any questions.

    Kevin

  • I live in Palmer, AK and my favorite spot to watch the Northern Lights is from my living room window! Fairbanks is a good place. In fact, Asian folks think that if you conceive a baby during the Northern Lights the baby will have a long and prosperous life. So, many hotels host special rates to draw in the crowds.

  • Favorite destinations for viewing this phenomenon include Denali National Park and anywhere in Fairbanks.

  • Spring? you must be here before March 30 to see it, the more northward, the more chance you will see it, but not in metro area.
  • Where is a good place to travel at the end of April?|166611

We want to travel at the end of April somewhere nice and warm, and we also have a 10 month old baby. Any Ideas?

  • I would go to Maui. Beautiful weather and it_s such a peaceful place, just right to relax and spend time with your baby!

  • My family_s going to Cape Coral, Florida on Saturday. Nice, warm and relaxing.
  • When is the best time of year to get cheaper airfairs to California?|140615

I want to take a trip to California from NY, but I am kinda on a budget! My daughter and grandkids live there. My wife is letting me have the State income tax refund to buy tickets, and for spending money when I get there. So I have to get a good deal on the round trip ticket so I can spoil my grandkids a little. Thanks.

  • I_m not really sure that there is a time of the year that is best to purchase your airfare. Here are few suggestions. Check with online sites like orbitz, expedia, priceline, etc. These are all online discounters for airfare. Spend some time researching prices before you purchase and check all the online discounters. Also check directly through the airlines, I have found many situations where they are lower than the online discounters. Also watch for advertisements online, in the newspaper, etc. Sometimes they will offer special rates for a certain day, I find this quite often happens.

The best way to make sure you get the lowest price is to check every day for one week. The prices will change each day and this will give you an idea of what day your airline will lower prices. Some do it Monday, others Wednesday and some on both Tuesday and Thursday. So it will take some time, but this will help you get the lowest rate.

Also, be very flexible. If you are willing to spend more time flying and having more layovers, you can get a less expensive flight. You may have 3 or 4 layovers, but if you don_t mind getting in a little later it will save you a lot of money.

I just bought tickets for California in September and I think I paid about $250 dollars per person, with all taxes and fees. This isn_t too bad and it was a pretty good flight, I_m not sure if this is in your budget or not. But I found that the ticket was ten dollars less booking through American than the online discounters.

Also, certain companies will take different discounts. You may find a discount using a AAA card, AARP, teacher discounts, nurse discounts, Sams Club, etc. You can call the companies to see if they take any of these discounts and sometimes they do. Sometimes you won_t even think of a discount they may offer that they have, it just depends what they accept.

You may also want to check with your local AAA office. They may have a lower rate. The only problem is that they add a fee on to the air because they don_t receive commission on the air. I believe they charge $50 for members and a $100 for non-members (I_m not certain on the actual fee, but I think this is close). So if they have a really good deal on the air you may be better off.

I hope this helps. Good luck with getting your air and have a great trip!

  • The above answer is very good but I would like to add that Jet Blue is a discount airline like Southwest, for longer routes. It doesn_t show up on Orbitz and Expedia, but you can go directly to the JetBlue web site.
    http://www.jetblue.com/

Their hub is JFK, so if that is a good airport for you it is worth checking them out. They fly to 7 cities in California nonstop from JFK.
  • Can you visit the United States with a Canadian Permanent Resident Card?|182637

I want to visit the US but all i have is a Permanent Resident Card. So all I want to know is if it_s possible or not and if yes then what are the conditions and some other important information.

  • Whether or not you need a visa to enter the U.S. does not depend on your permanent resident status in Canada. It depends on your nationality. If your home country is on the visa waiver list for the U.S., you do not need a visa, but you do need to register for ESTA...see 2nd site below. See 1st site below to see if your country is on the visa waiver list. If your country is not on that list, you will need to apply for a B-2 tourist visa through the nearest American embassy or consulate in Canada. See 3rd site and follow instructions there.

  • You need a passport and, depending on your nationality, a visa.
