Whats the best place to raise a family in Northern California?|189464

Please consider education, rental, and crime rate in choosing a place. Thanks.

  • That_s a good question, because most of the bay area(San Francisco area) is great, but it_s very expensive. I also love the Shasta/Redding area. It_s much more affordable, has low crime and good schools. The only problem with that area is it_s pretty far from any university. But all in all, it_s beautiful, near Shasta lake and mountain and a couple of hours from the coast.
  • Is Myrtle Beach on Memorial weekend a good place for couples with children?|131779

We have never been to Myrtle Beach and I_m concerned that Myrtle Beach will be like South Beach Miami on Memorial weekend. South Beach on Memorial weekend is no place for couples or children.

  • It depends on your family_s moral structure. However, I_m going to go ahead and venture a guess and say that it will not be appropriate here for you _ your children on Memorial Day weekend.

This weekend_s motorcycle rally, the Atlantic Beach Bike Rally (also referred to as _Black Bike Week_), is oft attended by bikers (not Harleys...think crotch-rockets) who will pop wheelies while going down the highway, who have extremely scantily-clad girls on the back of their bikes, and who have no problem shouting or saying whatever to whoever. People who support this rally will tell you otherwise, or that these people are in the minority of their attendees...but from someone who has lived here for 23+ years, that observation is not correct.

In short - if you_ve already got plans to come down here this weekend (before Memorial Day), then there_s not much you can do...but if you can wait, I would very much suggest coming next weekend. This weekend is one of two weekends a year us locals just give up and stay home. Hope this answer helped you.

  • Myrtle Beach will be pretty wild. The other thing is, in my opinion, there isn_t much for kids to do other than miniature golf, unless they play adult golf. Plus, the water is still freezing this time of year. Just my opinion. Good luck. I love the Gulf, but taking kids anywhere there are morons on the beach is scary.
  • Where is the best place to go camping in southern california?|140374

Wanting a place close to the LA area to camp for the weekend. Ideally looking for an area with small hikes and plenty to do.

  • You_re asking for the Moon, and you want it on the week end. There probably are such campsites, but you will be competing with 20,000 other Angelino_s for them. I wish you luck in finding one.

  • im in the same person ilive in oc,
yea ive been to many but im waiting for lake perris in moreno valley been there its alright kinda hot in summer but perfect now. and lake isabella near bakersfield i heard its good from some and bad from others.

  • Not too close to LA... but the BEST place to go camping in Southern Californa is Mammoth Lakes.

  • Get an AAA Southern California Camping Map...it has all the state and federal and private parks.

It depends on what you want. Beach? Lake? River? Mountains? They all have what you want it_s just different scenery.

  • The best place to go camping is Carpinteria State Beach. If you_re lucky, you can book a site at www.reserveamerica.com. Since it is one of the most popular campsites in California, it_s hard to book, especially this close. You can take a walk down the the excellent tide pools, or walk or ride the trail to Rincon, view the sea lion rookery, or just go into town. There are sites right on the beach, for tents as well as RV_s. It_s a very friendly place, we make friends there all the time.

  • Hi,
Depending on your hiking interests this time of year I would head up the 395 toward Mammoth. There are a number of places you_ll find to camp. If you are looking for pack-in camping you_ll find that as well and less of a crowd.
During the Fall and Spring try Death Valley. This place has some very remote areas and you can find pack-in camping and a lot of things to see and do. Stay away in the Summer.
If you want real adventure try the Channel Islands out of Venture. Santa Cruz Island has a lot of ground camping and a Kayak Camp. From the location at Scorpion you can hike for hours. Check this out on www.nps.gov and look for National Parks of Marine Reserves.

  • sequoia is cool.big trees.its about 2.5 hours from la

  • what about 3rd Street Promenade?
  • To Wrigley Field?Where should I stay in Chicago for a weekend trip to Wrigley with the boys?|150593

Some buddies and I are planning a weekend guys trip to Chicago to take in some Cubs games at Wrigley and we_re trying to determine the best part of town/hotel to stay. We_d like to be close to Wrigley, I guess, but more than that we_d like to have access to some good bars. Any suggestions?

  • Alot of out of town visitors to Wrigley stay in the River North area. There is a CTA Red Line stop at Grand _ State (subway in this area) which takes you right to the Addison stop for Wrigley Field.

In the River North area there is high concentration of bars, clubs and excellent dining. Most of the major hotel brands are in the area too. There is a Hilton Garden Inn at Grand _ State too just steps away from the subway entrance. Within a few blocks there is also a Hampton Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, Marriott, Homewood Suites and many others. When doing a hotel booking search look for River North or Magnificant Mile (Michigan Avenue) locations.

A word of caution...plan ahead. River North is a popular area on weekends in the summer so get your hotel booked early.

  • If you_re willing to spend some money, you can stay in the loop (downtown area, where most of the attractions are) and take the red line up to Wrigley. When I went to Chicago, I purchased a one-day _fun pass_ at a CTA ticket booth that came in handy and wasn_t too costly.

  • There are a couple of websites geared toward people coming from out of town to Wrigley Field. they list area bars, restaurants and hotels. Here are a couple

    http://www.wrigleyfieldhotels.com/

    http://www.hotelsnear.net/chicago/wrigle

    http://www.outoftheballpark.com/

And as far as bars, there_s only about 50 bazillion around the ballpark. You won_t have any trouble in that department. You can_t spit without hitting a bar.

  • Why! so you can watch the _Cubs_ lose like always. Thank God! for my Boston Red Sox_s
