What should I wear to a job interview in Hawaii?|179679

I_m moving to Oahu next week, and have a few interviews. The jobs are for a vet clinic, and a lab assistant position. I was planning on just wearing a shirt and tie, but now I_m worried that that may be too formal for a job like these, especially in Hawaii. Any thoughts?

  • I would personally go with the shirt and tie. I_ve been and used to live in Hawaii and I know the culture there is very laid back. But one of my H.S. teachers told us a story about looking sharp. His brother lives in Oregon and I guess the culture or area around him is very laid back. He went into some company, unexpected, no meeting planned and asked to see the guy in charge. He was wearing a suit and power tie, where the culture and dress was normally laid back. The receptionist decided to let him see the boss and he was able to sell him products (I don_t remember what, that_s not important) worth like 60,000. He said he probably would not have made it if he was wearing just a Polo or whatever.

    Just a little story I think about when I have to dress up.

    Good luck with your interviews.

  • I have seen a lot of men interview in a nice Aloha shirt ( that means not too bright, kinda muted colors) and long pants and dress shoes. You can also go for a long sleeve button up shirt with long pants and dress shoes. People don_t usually wear ties so you don_t need to bother with that :-)
    Good luck with your interviews.

  • wear flip flops, shorts, and a hawaiian shirt. and a flower_s necklace. and sunglasses.

  • Eeemmm, well shirt and tie is a bit too formal. So what about a casual shirt buttoned up with a formal pair of trousers? Hope this helps

  • Vets are supposed to wear a button down shirt at the least, so I think that this is a good clothing choice.

  • Don_t worry, a shirt and tie is fine. ;)

  • a grass skirt and coconut shells! :P

  • a swimsuit dude!!! ha ha lol
  • How much time do you need to visit Salem Mass and see everything?|119616

    I am planning a trip to Salem with my son and I want to be able to see everything, since I don_t know when I would be able to come back. Does anyone know if you can see it all in 1 day or should I plan to stay for 2 days or more. Just interested in seeing the Witch trials museams and things related to that, not the whole city/town.

  • The one thing I would STRONGLY recommend is to not see it all lol. Salem is a great town, with tons of fun stuff to see. But as someone who has, over the years, had to take endless friends there who wanted to play tourist while visiting me, I can tell you there are some super cheesy and very overpriced Witch themed attractions there. I would suggest the main Witch Museum (the one behind the Witch monument), maybe one more, and a visit to the Witch_s shop. Most of the smaller ones really are poorly done and just repeat the same stuff. You would need 2 days to see everything, but trust me one or two would be more than enough. If they still have their version of the duck tour there I would recommend it.

    Even though you said witch only, I personally loved The House of the Seven Gables, though depending on how young your son is, it might not be fun for him. But if he_s old enough it might be very educational. It is the most interesting historical house I_ve been to (generally I_m not a fan of them, but this truly showed how folks lived and was very interesting, esp. seeing how they hid slaves etc. And if you are going when it warms up there is a stunning courtyard garden with a spectacular view, so nice place to grab a liight lunch and enjoy it.

    There is also a free movie at the tourist center that was pretty good (yes witch themed primarily). And be sure to pick up the handout tourist books before you hit the Witch attractions as many have discount coupons available!

    Salem has a superb website at;

    http://www.salem.org/

    And downloadable brochure at;

    You can read and see pics and pricing on ALL the attractions, there is a map and you can get an overall idea. Everything is pretty close.

    I answered a similar question for someone recently and mentioned a few more things...rather than type it all twice here_s the link if you want to check that out;

  • A day is fine. Not really anything else there. They are all concentrated in one area.

  • one day, two at the most,but you can cover everything in a day

  • You could manage in one. It may be more enjoyable spread out over two, but no more than that. Especially if you aren_t going to travel outside of Salem, or pay attention to any of the other things!

  • You can fit in the House of Seven Gables, the Witch museum and the cool shops all in one day.

  • give yourself a good four days. at least. there alot of history and without ample time your gonna miss something.

  • A Day or 2 is Plenty!

    Some reccommendations:

    Take the Trolly Tour - With a pass thats $12 for Adults and only $3 for kids under 15 it is well worth not trying to find everything on your own. It has a bunch of Stops throughout Salem and you can get off and on as much as you want. If only going for 1 day I would first go on the full 1 hour tour. That way you can check out whats around and decide where you would like to explore further. Then use the trolly as a shuttle to the places you pick.

    This is a link to the list of stops:

    http://www.salemtrolley.com/stops.html

    Personally I would not bother taking a tour of:
    The House of Seven Gables - I remember finding it quite boring as a kid, however, its been awhile so things might have changed

    The Witch House - Not much to see

    Peabody Essex Museum - Its been awhile since I_ve been there too, but, to me it was boring and not worth seeing if you are on a tight schedule.

  • How do you start your own website for your business?|170046

    I have a yard service with my friends and we want to make a website. So how do we?

  • I have 2 websites that were created with different formats. The first was a little harder because you need a little background in HTML code. You can get great help for this type of site from Kevin Riley over at Products Creation Labs.com. If you want to look at that example you can go to www.chinamarriageguide.com

    The other was eaiser, created with easy-diy-websites.com. You can see this example at www.usvisatoolbox.com. Hope this will help.
