What is that thing in the middle off j street marina in chula vista?|118594

it looks like some kind of boat or house in the middle of the water, actually north of J street, by Bay front park.
Between the park and coronado.
I_m not talking about the power plant.

  • its an old house boat they docked there
  • Why are hotels in downtown Chicago so expensive in April?|106072

I would like to stay for 1 night, April 12th and can_t find any hotels for under $200. Does anyone have any suggestions?

  • There are a handful (near the airport)...

    Head over to
    http://www.resideo.com/us/illinois/chica
and click the _Check Availability_ button. Choose your dates, submit the form, then sort the results by price (that_ll put cheapest places first).

You can then read about each hotel, view pics, book online, etc.

Looks like the Skylark Motel Chicago Midway Airport has rooms @ $87.00 for that night.

    Good luck!

I am always finding good hotels at reasonable prices there. Can_t help much though, if as another poster mentioned there are conventions.

    It_s worth a try, anyway.

  • Because it_s downtown CHICAGO, not downtown Podunk. This a world class city with world class museums, shopping, business HQs, etc. Big high rollers come to down to do business, etc. I mean, Donald Trump picked downtown Chicago for the site of his newest biggest hotel. So it follows that downtown hotels are going to be expensive. If you want something cheaper, try hotels in the Greektown area or other parts of the city.

  • vacation spring break

  • No no, it_s not peak tourist season, it_s convention season. I work at a hotel downtown, and our rates were $99 over last weekend which is about $200 less than they usually are. This week however, the whole city is basically sold out for a week because of the Hardware Convention...
Then right after convention season you_re going to hit tourist season until the end of summer.

  • there are alot of hotels with different rates go to google.com and type in chicago hotels and there are also hotels 15-20 min drive away with only 40 bucks a night and 230 a week so that is cheap!! and yes april and March are more because of spring break time Every1 knows that,it is like that any where were people go for vacation

  • Waukegan and Gurnee are MUCH more than 15 minutes away. Even with no traffic, you couldn_t make it downtown in 30 minutes, let alone 15. On an average day with traffic, it_ll take an hour, easy.

If you_re not picky about where you stay, search the hostels. There are several in the city that have decent reviews.

  • Look at craigslist or vrbo.com for reasonable apartment or condo rentals for the night. Try inns or B_B_s for less expensive lodging.

  • It is because it is peak tourist time... try staying in Waukegan or Gurnee. the hotels are considerably cheaper and Chicago is not even 15 minutes away. Just jump on the highway
  • Where can I charge a battery while inside Disneyland?|108177

My camera takes a special battery (not AA or AAA) and I have to use a special charger to charge the battery. I am planning on buying a second battery just in case, but does anyone know if there are any restaurants, or other places, in Disneyland/California Adventure you can plug in a battery to charge while you eat lunch, etc. if it dies?

  • if i remember correctly there is a camera shop called the Main Street Photo Supply Co. on main street that lets you charge your camera. i_m not sure if they charge money for this service, ive never personally used it.

  • I doubt that the folks at Disneyland, will allow any vistors, plug anything in, at any time.
You should contact Disney, and ask, because you might end up being kicked out of the park, if they have some sort of rules against plugging in electrical devices of any kind, other than for, say, medical purposes.
    Play it safe, contact Disneyland.

I think this is the link for Disneyland, that will lead to those in power, that can answer your question.

    http://disneyland.disney.go.com/disneyla

OK, my bad, that link is for help about the Disney.com site.
Hold on, I am trying to find a link, that will let you ask your very important question, to a person at Disney, that can answer authoritatively...

    Alright...
Here is a contact page, for Disney...

    https://secure-disneyland.disney.go.com/

    Again..
I suggest you contact a Disney Official, for the answer to your question.
I know from experience in the entertainment industry, that most public venues, and parks, have to out of necessity, refuse to allow guests and visitors, to plug anything into a power outlet, due to safety reasons, and the fact, that if you let one park visitor do it, you will soon have 10,000 visitors doing it.
If you have ever been to Disneyland, and seen how crowded it always is, I would say, that it is a safe bet, that plugging anything into an outlet there, is strictly forbidden, and for that fact, they have probably removed any outlets, accessible to the public.

  • You_re not going to have any access to outlets at any Disneyland restaurants. My advice is to get a hotel room close to the resort, like the HoJo Anaheim, and charge your battery there.

  • Ask the workers, a restaurant should have outlets
  • What kind of college degree do i need to work for disney studios?|131880

I don_t want to be an animator or anything like that. What other kind of jobs do they have and what kind of college degree do i need?

  • You will need a degree in web design/animation. Most big colleges or universities will have a program.

  • Disney studios? I am guessing you_re possibly referring to Hollywood Studios, one of Walt Disney World_s theme parks. No degree of any sort is necessary to work at any of the parks for their entry level positions. All they require is for you to be 18 and older and be able to work in the US.
  • Is it possible to make a trip to Empire state from Newark Airport within 5 hours?|121451

I Would be reaching Newark airport @ 3pm and my next flight is @ 8:20pm on the same day.
Could you please suggest the shortest way to reach?
How much time it would take to reach empire state building?

  • The best way to get there would be to take the AirTran from the airport to the NJ Transit stop. From the train stop, you can take the train directly into NY Penn Station. Try to sit near the front of the train. Once in NY, you can easily walk to the Empire State building (if you sit near the front of the train you_ll be near 32nd and 7th, and the ESB is on 34th and 5th, about a 10-15 minute walk). The train ride in will take about 25 minutes.

On the way back to the airport, be sure that the board says _EWR,_ otherwise you won_t be stopping at the airport. Be sure to buy your tickets before your board, otherwise you_ll be charged an additional $5 fee on the train.

and go to _trip/ itinerary planner_ type in your points (newark airport and empire state building) and it will give you directions on how to get there using mass transit. Probably take you an hour. Or you could grab a cab if you want to spend the money, it might take a half hour up to an hour depending on traffic.

  • 18 miles
    33 minutes
    (each way)

  • It_s very close. You can see it from the airport. Best way, just take a taxi.
