What are the best ways to shuttle from Phoenix (or Las Vegas) to south rim Grand Canyon?|164315

Going on a hike through Grand Canyon in mid-October. Flying into either Phoenix or Las Vegas (or even another airport if a better option occurs) and hoping to find a shuttle method from that city to the south rim of the Canyon. Ideally I have to make it to the rim and be ready to walk by 2-3pm. I can either travel the day before (Friday) or the morning of (Saturday). Whichever option I take, I need to ensure proper rest (hiking the canyon without proper rest is very dangerous).

Any info is greatly appreciated.

  • Give Scenic Airlines [ airline code YR] in Las Vegas a call and tell them that you_re hiking and want _the ride only _ fare You should know that that fare may very well cost you more than your flight into LAS did

    Just so you know :
Unless you_re planning on using Indian Gardens as a CS or making a dry camp above the Redwall ,2:00 3:00 PM is a kind of late to start your hike
I mean the Inner Canyon does get dark before the Rims do and gets light after the Rims do
    Enjoy the Canyon

  • I recommend you rent a car, but also check out local tour operators

I was recently in Las Vegas and I took a tour from Look!Tours to Death Valley and was very pleased

  • How much time to allow at Logan Airport before my flight?|132131

I_ll be flying into and out of Logan airport in July on Continental flights. My flight out leaves at 8:30am. What would be a good time to arrive at the airport to allow time to get my bags checked in _ go through security?

  • If it is a domestic flight, i would recommend getting there by 7am. That way, you will have 1 1/2 hrs to check in your bags and go thru security. 6:30 would be even safer since its july...

If its for international, get there by 5:30 am, 6:30 at the latest.

It is better to get to the airport early....

  • if it_s domestic, you just need to show up an hour ahead of time. it only takes 15 min to get through check in (you could check in online before and then just check your bags in) and 10 min to get through security. and even if there are long lines, if you_re flights leaving soon they_ll just pull you through.

  • I usually get there 45 minutes before my flight and am the one that had to get the airline employee to get me to skip ALL LINES and I literally just breeze through it all. never once had a problem and always got VIP treatment

  • Get there before 7, because they are highly securitorized there. I flew out of there about 2 years ago and they made me take off my sweatshirt and shoes. We had to go through a lot before being able to sit and relax.

  • I would do online check in, with curbside or self baggage check in, and get there at 7 am no later than 730. If you do online check in it cuts down most of your time, security would be your main issue.

  • For Domestic they want you all checked n one hour before take
    off

For international they want you there 2 hours before take off
  • What are some Christian Based Family Recreation Places to visit in the USA?|130040

I was searching in the internet and read about the Precious Moments Park located in Missuri. It sounds as a great way to spend a good time with the family. Because of this, is that I started wondering if there are other paces such as this one here in the U.S. We are already planning to visit the Precious Moment Chapel this spring! We want to go to a place where we can appreciate christian related activities! (FYI: I am not interested in summer camps in particular)

  • Not exactly what you_re after, but I suspect Dollywood would be up your alley- its family oriented and rooted in _traditional_ values.

A better idea would be to go to our wonderful National parks and appreciate the world_s beauty. Your family can have what ever devotional activities you feel appropriate to the moment, and it will be a much more genuine experience than going to what amounts to an amusement park.
  • How can we save, stop, and slow down miami from Mass Commercialization?|130709

I would do anything to have my city back to how it was before, at least somewhat peaceful, tropical landscapes, instead of these massive high rise condos, and mini malls. Is there anyone in charge of protecting even the soil from this greed?

  • too late... they should have haulted new construction and protected historcal buildings years ago.... its ridiculous now.. its happening here in saint augustine, fl as well

  • Make it less attractive to live there. Then everyone will stop moving there and construction prices will go down, making it not worth it for new development.

  • You must be kidding! You want peaceful tropical landscapes, move to the Dominican Republic.

  • Miami is a big tourist town and it derives a lot of revenue from the gazillions of tourists that go there each year. Like MLaw said, Miami and mass commercialization are synonymous. If you want a quiet, slower paced town, you may want to consider moving because Miami is a great place to visit with many beautiful houses, lots of old architecture to go along with the new and it_s so famous because it_s tropical, warm and a popular place to film shows. I don_t think the city of Miami intends to slow down...it wants the tourists and their money! Once progress is _on a roll_ it_s hard to stop it. It_s pretty much the same thing where I live now, but I will be moving to a quieter city within a few years where it will be many years before this small city (or if it ever) becomes mass commercialized. Look at how many people have vacation homes or condos that live up north where it is cold, snowy and really hard to get around in. I understand how you feel, but I think it is way too late to stop Miami from continuing to develop.
