How to adjust Disney World touring plan with the closure of Space Mountain?|106832

When Magic Kingdom opens, most guest head to three main rides: Space Mountain, Big Thunder Railroad, and Splash Mountain. With the latter two rides being in roughly the same area, how should one adjust the _Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World__ touring plan?

  • According to the Unofficial guide website (www.touringplans.com) they state to just skip Space Mountain and proceed with the plan. I believe the plan states to head to Buzz Lightyear next so that is what I am going to try when I go to Disney World in June.

Edit: of course, this isn_t the route that _everyone else is going to take._ because everyone else hasn_t read the book. They estimate less than 1% of the people at the world are following the tour plans in the book. Everyone who has tried it says it works and so I_m going to give it a go!

  • What I did when I was there was got a fast pass for space mountain then waited in line for the other two.. or else, you could go on one of the two as you have a fast pass for space mountain, then go on space mountain, then get a fast pass for the other one of the two, go eat or whatever, then u can go on it :)

  • If that is the route everyone else is taking because it is the path that is detailed in a book I can guarantee I am going the opposite direction since there won_t, in theory, be any lines.
  • What are the safer parts of town to live in Las Vegas?|116172

I want to buy a small house sense I_m never going to need a big one, but areas smaller homes tend to have higher crime. What areas of town should I avoid? Break ins and gang activity are the only things that really concern me.

  • Avoid Central and North Las Vegas. You want to stay away from the housing that is really close to I-95 _ I-15. My personal opinion of the better areas are Green Valley, Henderson, Seven Hills, Summerlin, Mountains Edge, and Silverado Ranch.

Break ins happen regardless of the neighborhood, but gang activity tends to occur around schools, older North Las Vegas and South East LV, and central areas of the town.

You could always visit www.lvmpd.com and search crimes by neighborhood if you want to research on your own.
    Good Luck.

  • To add to wildangeldreamer great answer, I would also consider where you might work. If you are looking to work at one of the casinos, then the South side of town is better. Such as Henderson, The drive time from the North with all the construction that is probably going to last for years is horrible. If you are in general work such as Dept Stores, Grocery Stores, Mechanic_s, Medical, etc you probably can get a decent job that is off strip on the west side of town. Then Summerlin, North West may be a better option. Just my 2 cents.

  • Las Vegas is pretty safe, but there are some places that is not safe and have dark alleys. The safer roots are the houses south of Las Vegas, If you go north, takes you to downtown. If you go in the east and west direction, there are some safe neighborhoods you can trust.

  • Check out homes in The Lakes, Summerlin or Piccole Ranch, all that have smaller homes. They are the west end of Sahara.

Gang are everywhere but they action is not a major issue in these planned communities.

  • For you the best area would be the southwest. They have newer houses there in various sizes. The area is pretty safe and is just being developed so there is still desert area everywhere. That would be your best. South of 215 around S.Jones, S. Rainbow.
  • What is the temperature like in Los Angeles and San Francisco in April?|198237

I_m asking this because my parents said our family could maybe go to California (Los Angeles or San Francisco) in April because that_s when my school has Spring break. Could you please let me know? Thanks!

  • L.A. will be warm but S.F cold (as it usually is). Normal temps are in the 70_s to 80_s in L.A. and somewhere around 55-70 in S.F.; but S.F. weather can be crazy and very warm in the Spring while freezing in the Summer (just ask those who go to Giants baseball games in August with their sweaters, mufflers, gloves, etc.).

  • It is very warm and wet or sometime dry.

  • As HOT as The 2006 Division Champion Detroit Tigers!
  • What neighborhood are safe and good neighborhoods in Orlando Florida?|108455

I am considering moving to Orlando Florida. What neighborhoods are safe and nice and which ones should I stay away from.

  • Orlando is a big area and what people consider Orlando is even bigger. There_s a lot of great places around Orlando to live. Windermere, Winter Garden and Clermont are good. Winter Park is nice as well but very costly. There are 2 places called Stoneybrook- on is Stoneybrook East and the other is Stoneybrook West. Both are good areas.

Avoid Parramore and Pine Hills at all costs.

East Orlando is ok but UCF is there and you will find it_s a lot of young college kids around. West Orlando is more family oriented.

That Forbes list that someone referred to was from data collected in 2008. Orlando is no longer considered the 6th most dangerous city.

  • The good schools are in seminole county (Orlando is orange county), seminole is a mostly bedroom community county just north of Orlando...I live in Tuskawilla country club in Winter Springs/Oviedo...due to the great demographics (mostly white middle/upper middle class), all the schools around us are A rated schools and we have basically no crime. It_s a fantastic place to raise a family. I work in Orlando and it only takes me 20 mins to get to work...bottom line seminole county has several really nice towns, winter springs and oviedo are two of them...good luck.

  • Orlando is currently rated #6 in Forbles list of most dangerous cities based on violent crime as of 2009. (new results should be around April)
Florida and Orlando unemployment are above the national average.

  • Stay away from Pine Hills.
  • What neighborhoods in Honolulu are ones with high crime and/or high poverty?|108058

My family is considering to make a move to Hawaii from Montana, and we don_t want to get in an area of high crime or high poverty, but we also need the area to be affordable to live in? Any reccomendations on homes/apartments for sale in good areas? What neighborhoods would it be wise to stay clear of?

  • I_m thinking ur talking about Oahu...the main island. Stay away from (especially if u_re from the mainland and your _haole_ (white):

    Kalihi
    Waianae
    Makaha
    Waimanalo
    Wahiawa
    Halawa
    Hauula
    Laie
    Ewa Beach
Makiki (used to safe...now getting taken over by micronesians kinda)

U basically wanna stay away from the West and East sides (except Kaliua and Kaneohe which are nice). The North shore is very country and slow-paced. U wont find much work up there at all and it gets overrun during winter season by pro-surfers and wannabes. That leaves just the South shore...in Honolulu.

Mainlanders do better in Manoa valley...really peaceful and almost hippy-ish small town feel close to the city. Extremely safe. Punahou, University, Aina Haina, and Niu Valley areas are good as well.

Cost of living in HI is very high...two bedrooms usually at least $1200/month rent. 3-bedrooms about $1800/month I think.

  • I just want to add to the answerer above me who has recommended all great places to move to if you_re coming from the mainland; Manoa Valley is very nice and you_ll like it there (just be aware of the high cost). Pauoa Valley is the valley right beside Manoa Valley; it_s not all bad and it_s a little bit cheaper. Also, Hawaii Kai is a nice smaller town to the east of Honolulu.

Make sure before you move from Montana you view the different communities of Hawaii for at least a week; you_ll get a good idea of if you want to move to a certain community or not.

  • i agree with brmuchim , better to look before you pay so much money.

    other areas to NOT go:
Aiea / Pearl city : i lived there, got broken in 9 times.
    Halawa
    Kaimuki
    Waipahu

areas i recommend if you can afford:
    Hawaii Kai
    Manoa
    Mililani - west side
  • What are the number one sights to see in all 50 states?|131656

I_m attempting to find the #1 sight to see for each state. One day, I plan on visiting each state in a mass excursion, and I want to know opinions on the spots to see. Such as, what should I visit in Alabama? What should I see in Alaska? That sort of thing.

  • Alaska...

    Yikes, try picking ONE spot!

  • Well, when you get to West Virginia, you_ll naturally want to see the New River Gorge Bridge. After that, if you_ve got time go down the road about 20 mins and go white water rafting, which generally gets out just before you go under the bridge. Great view.

When you goto Virginia, the Natural Bridge there isn_t worth the time nor the money. On the other hand though Monticello (Thomas Jefferson_s house) is extremely interesting. As well is Mount Vernon (George Washington_s). Richmond is alright but if you miss it you won_t really mis anything.

  • Tennessee-Jack Daniel_s distillery in Lynchburg, or in Nashville, the Grand Ole Opry,
    or of course,
    Graceland!!! in Memphis.

In Nevada-Hoover Dam and Las Vegas
CA- Yosemite National Park, or Lake Tahoe
    AZ-The Grand Canyon
And Philadelphia has Historic Downtown with the Liberty Bell and Independance Hall.

  • Michigan - I don_t know the number 1 recognized sight but Great Lakes, Pictured Rocks, Upper Peninsula in general. Maybe Mackinaw Bridge connecting upper and lower peninsula, yeah that_s it.

  • PA - Philadelphia Art Museum, Lanacaster County Amish World, Hershey Area - Hershey Park

Nothing really good in PA. If you would like one for each state I suggest going to each state_s webpage and requesting a brochure or travel guide. Or visit your local AAA

  • Alabama............Vulcan..Noccalula Falls!!!!!

    Roll Tide Baby!

  • if you like to meet celebrities and shopping: try CA, Hollywood. =)
