How old do you have to be to stay at a hotel alone?|109517

I mean, if you were traveling by yourself, how old do you have to be to stay at a hotel? Can a 17 yrs and 8 monthes old stay somewhere alone?

  • Most hotels/motels require that you are 18 years old to stay. Almost every big name hotel will check your ID. Many less expensive motels such as Motel 6, Budget Inn, Super 8, etc. will not even look at your age unless you are 1.) acting like an idiot 2.) acting in a suspicious manner or 3.) you are a cash paying customer. Make a reservation ahead of time as it makes it less likely that you will be asked for ID. Give a credit card upon checking in - even if it is an ATM/Visa. If you pay cash you will be asked for ID which will usually be looked at carefully and typically an additional cash deposit will be required to ensure you don_t destroy the room. Provided the room is in good condition upon check out you will receive the deposit back.

  • i was 13 and i stayed at a hotel for a day but i had my parents permission

  • 18, checking into a motel is a contract. you must be 18 to enter into a contract

  • You can always call and ask the Hotel.

Personally I can_t remember ever being asked for an ID at a hotel. However I do look older than I am.

  • 18 I_ve been a hotel front office manager for a long time.

  • 18 i am pretty sure

  • HEY!

THE MAJORITY REQUIRE YOU TO BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD, HOWEVER, SOME ALLOW 18 YEAR OLDS TO CHECK IN.

THERE ARE ZERO HOTELS THAT WILL ALLOW ANYONE UNDER 18 TO CHECK IN BY THEM SELVES, EVEN IF THEY HAVE A CREDIT CARD.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW SOME HOTELS THAT ALLOW 18 YEAR OLDS, E-MAIL ME!

  • You cant be serious.;right?

  • I would think that you would have to be an adult - 18. Otherwise the hotel could have problems if anything happened to you. Call a hotel at random and ask, they_d know best.

I think I stayed in hotels before I was 18, but I guess it depends on what type of hotel. I doubt a regular one would care. An expensive place would most likely check age/id

  • That would be the big 1-8

  • How is the job market for recent college grads in Boston?|110958

I recently finished university degrees in business and finance and am thinking about moving to Boston.

Is Boston_s economy strong right now? Is it relatively easy to land a decent job or is there extreme competition for every available position? Do the available jobs tend to be good enough to make up for the high cost of living there?

I_ve been in places where jobs were plentiful (e.g. Raleigh) and places where they were scarce (e.g. Portland, OR), but I have no idea what Boston is like right now.

    Thanks!

  • The thing about New England is that the distances are very short. You could easily live in New Hampshire or Rhode Island and commute to a job inside of I495.

The cost of living is goes down dramatically if you live outside of I495. I live in NH, on the seacoast and drive to a job in the Boston area. My home cost under $300K and I live a mile from the beach. I drive a hybrid, so my weekly gas bill is less than $30, yet I drive in excess of 400 miles a week. Granted I spend 10+hours a day away from home, and my cars are throw aways.

All things bio-technology are hot in Boston right now. Look at a trade rag online called Mass High Tech. www.masshightech.com. This will give you insight to whats happening in the business world around the area.

  • My honest suggestion, it_s a great city, but not for new grads. Chances are you aren_t going to start off with a high paying job and Boston is a very expensive city to live in, Massachusetts in general is very expensive and is not well-suited for a new grad. student. My advice, work a couple of years, get some experience and get a higher paying job.

  • The job market in Boston is great, however, it is also a very expensive city to live in. You_d have to know exactly what you are up against before you put yourself in financial stress. It can be difficult with a starting pay to make ends meet.
  • What is the weather like in Utah during March? Especially in Bryce Canyon and the Southern Part?|108868

Curious about Utah and the weather during March. I was planning on going to Bryce during March 2-8 but was unsure if the park ever closed due to weather.

Or any advice on places out west to visit that time of year? Looking for a very scenic place and to do some hiking/camping.

  • type Bryce Canyon, Utah into your search engine. You can find out about the weather and when the park is opened or closed. You may also look under national parks.

There are so many scenic areas out west that it can take years to see them. Try the Grand Tetons also.
  • How to get from Westchester County Airport to Manhattan?|175805

Bought a ticket, and have to fly into Westchester County. I will be public transportation dependent, and am not spending big bucks for a cab, etc. Do they run buses from the airport to Manhattan, or do I have to get into White Plains to catch a train?

Also, for anyone who_s done this, is it pretty easy/convenient?

    Thanks.

  • The first person who answered is correct. The bus ride is only 10-15 minutes or so to the train station. You can also get a cab to the train station.

  • I_ve never done it, because so many people have told me it is NOT convenient. You will need to take a bus (Westchester _bee-line_ #12) to White Plains, then get on a MetroNorth train to Grand Central.
  • What special events are occurring in Chicago the week of May 7th?|173715

What special events are occurring in Chicago the week of May 7th? I_m a small town businessman (banking and finance) and will be in Chicago the week of May 7th. What is going on that week that if I attend may help me return a better business person?

  • On May 2nd there is the Polish Parade
  • How important is it to make reservations at hotels and camping grounds when traveling across country by car?|173024

My best friend and I don_t want to make and keep to a major schedule on our trip. We want to run across gemstones and things and not have to worry about meeting a reservation. So if it is important to make reservations, is there any way to do both?

  • Wife and I traveled old route 66 from chicago to California. We did not not make a single reservation in advance (ended up in vegas where we did have reservations). We stayed in motels (non-chain) that were reminiscent of the old days. All were clean and comfortable at low price-all less that 40 a night! Meals in the same vein. Good food and plenty of it for less than 7.00 each per meal. Except Oklahoma City they were all in small town USA.

This is the only way to travel and get the true flavor of Americana by meeting the common people who make this country great and at the same time keeping the money away from the cookie cutter motels and fast food joints and putting it in the hands of those who really need.

I can give you more info if you just ask!

  • It could be a good idea to have reservations so you will know you have a place to sleep.
However, if you have a list of places to stay you can always call them during the day or the day before your stay to make sure they have room for you.
I have been left out in the cold before because I did not plan ahead but waited until bedtime to look for a room.
If you have a general idea as to your route and schedule you could make a reservation for the first night at each stop and then look for another place.

  • well its always a good idea to have reservations, when I travel across the u.s. with my bff we had reservations no were and we slept in the car most of the time...we ran into the problem of small towns with booked rooms (in summer) or a town with any major event going on...
So yeah reservations are great, make a list of the places you will be going or driving through and look up on google ---name of place hotels/camping grounds---- write there numbers down call and as what they expect business to be like around the day you might show up there....and take the numbers along with you and call them when you are close to them or know that your going to be their on a certain day, make reservations.....Remember you can make reservations and cancel them, ask what there cancellation policy is......
-----if worst comes to worst, sleep in the car, in a rest-stop parking lot, and make sure you lock the doors (lol) and you can put up sheets in the windows (for curtains sun rising at 4am sucks) just put the top of the sheet in the window (with it rolled down) then roll it back up and the sheet is stuck in window (learned this from many days sleeping in the car)

Good luck...try to plan a little bit ahead....google _trip planning_ they have forms and stuff that you can print out that will help

  • It_s not .
I_ve traveled all over America during the past almost 40 years and I almost never make reservations. The only exception would be if I have zero flexibility regarding when and where I have to be somewhere ....like if I_m going to an out of state wedding
In addition to the local non-chain motels that another poster mentioned there are all of those nice chain motels that you can negotiate prices with after midnight.
I carry on board my vehicle the AAA guidebooks for the areas I_m visiting along with the individual hard copy national guides for every chain motel in America
One thing :If you want to find all of those Mom _ Pop motels you_re gonna have to seek them out on the routes [mostly US highways ] that were used before the Interstate Highway System came into existence
Needless to say ;thoroughly examine all hotel/motel rooms first before you pay for them
    Safe trip
  • Going to Las Vegas, need a hotel that has a nice gym and workout facilities? Any recommendations?|186317

I am training for a marathon. I am planning a trip to Las Vegas. I want to know if anyone has stayed at a hotel in Las Vegas that has a nice gym or fitness center. Thanks.

  • All the new hotels on the strip have a good workout center, i know the hard rock hotel has a awesome one and so does the Wynn casino but those places are expensive, just go to the website of the hotel of your choice and i_m sure they have a link to their gyms with information, good luck with your marathon race

  • Nearly all brand name Las Vegas hotels come with fitness centers. Of the less expensive hotels I have stayed in, The Plaza (in downtown) and Sahara_s gyms are rather small and out-dated. Gold Coast, Hooters, and Stratosphere have good-sized and new fitness centers. The latter two being accessible 24 hrs., I found that to be convenient.

  • One of the better sources for Las Vegas information (and some pretty good deals) is http://DealsToVegas.com
You can find just about every hotel and the amenities they offer, as well as the best rates currently available. I_ve used the website and have been quite satisfied.

  • You can find the best deals on the following URL :

    http://www.hotels.beginbooking.com/City/

This site compares rates from 30+ booking sites ensuring that you get the best deals. Click on the hotel features to find more about the facilities.

  • there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it_s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

  • Most hotels have fitness centers but not all are _free_ so check.
