What are good summer vacation ideas for the July 4th weekend?|140746

Planning to take an extra 2 days for the long weekend and would love to know some tips for a great summer holiday anywhere in the U.S.

San Diego has one of the best 4th of July celebrations in the country; I would not want to be anywhere else for that holiday. Pacific Beach and Mission Beach areas just go off for the whole week leading up to the 4th. About 250,000-300,000 people go to the beach or along Mission Bay and celebrate the 4th. And since SD allows alcohol on the sand, the only place in CA that does, it is one huge and wild party. Some parts of the beach are filled with people standing shoulder to shoulder b/c it_s get so crowded in some spots, but many spots there is plenty of room to lay out and enjoy the beach if you don_t want to be near the madness. And there are several fireworks shows too; one over the ocean, one over the bay, and one over downtown. SeaWorld also puts on fireworks every night of the week in summer and puts on a pretty good 4th of July show. There are just so many parties and people in SD for the 4th it_s so much fun.

Camping along Maines Coast in the summer is great or on one of the lakes. Our state parks are awesome. Check out Acadia National Park. You would fly into Bangor Airport.

I_m doing the same thing, will be staying in San Francisco from Wed to Sun.

NYC and Washinton DC are always special for the 4th of July. Great cities to visit and have the best fireworks shows.

Some hotels rent to people 18 and older. Others make the age 21. Call the particular hotel and ask. As for what is considered a child...it_s 18 and under some places and 15 and under some places and most often 12 and under. But, then again, you just have to call their front desk and ask, or look on their web site.

What requirements are there to cross the border from San Diego to Tijuana?|150589

I_m going on a trip to San Diego this weekend, and if we have time, we wanted to go to Tijuana. I know you don_t need a passport, but what do you need?

Well I live in San Diego and go to Tijuana all the time to go eat or party and all you need is your I.D. And make sure no one goes over there without one or forgets it somewhere in TJ, because then you get put in secondary, and it takes like 3 hours to get out of there.

i think you need a passport now as of jan 1 07. id check the internet.

My sister very recently went to Mexico and checked first. (I listened in.) They told her she only needed a passport to go into Mexico by air or water. They have just changed that temporarily with the exception that you need to have proof that you have applied for one, but it will be required again in the future. By land, she did not need one unless she would be there for a long time. It never hurts to have one when traveling outside of the U.S.

How can I go about researching my neighborhood?|160901

Found what seems to be a great home in Decatur, GA. I just wanted to know of any online sites where I can research my subdivision or neighborhood. Also, my landlord goes through a property management service so I have no contact with him/her, is there a site online I can go to and research my specific address to bring up recent closings, ect?

Check out the Decatur Police Dept. They may have district or precinct stats on crime.
Next the county Assessor_s Web site. Some record all sales transactions for tax purposes.
If this home is strictly a rental the Sheriff_s office or City Constable may have eviction records.

The newspaper www.ajc.com has a section on recent home sales by zip code. You may want to also drive the neighborhood, walk the neighborhood, go to a park nearby talk to the neighbors who are out. ask questions. Make sure you drive the neighborhood at night, and on a warm weekend evening. See what is going on. If school was in, I would suggest driving by when the school bus lets the kids off, that way you can see how many families w/ children live in the area. There are plenty of things you can find out just by driving around.
