How much money should I bring on my trip to Washington DC?|126608

I will be flying out this week for a trip to DC and I want to know how much money to bring. I will be there for 9 days and I will be staying with friends. My main mode of transportation will be the metro/bus and a lot of walking. How much money should I bring?

  • The more, the better.
If you only eat MacDonell and take bus, subway without buying anything else,it costs $20 per day.

  • You should bring atleast 750 USD. It is very expensive, I went and I spent about $400 and I went with my school and Im only 15. That wan_t even including hotel or anything like that it was just for eating and souviners and our whole trip was like $2000.

  • D.C. is expensive. 50 dollars a day for 9 days is conservative. If you go to bars and entertain make that 100 dollars a day.
  • Where in northern Georgia is good for a beach vacation?|126211

I_m going in a week and think it will still be too cold in South Carolina. Never been to Georgia before. Any info welcome!

  • There are no beaches in North Ga.The beaches are in South Ga. an Savannah is the place.

  • myrtle beach !!!
  • Is it possible to just be unhappy living someplace, regardless of how hard you try to make it work?|151062

I live in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky (Lawrenceburg/Harrodsburg/Versailles area.) I have tried involving myself in community activities where I live. I have waved at and tried to strike up conversations with my neighbors.

As it turns out, unless you were raised here, it_s hard to be accepted or even acknowledged. My neighbors are unpleasant, sour, and one of them even flipped me off the first time I waved at him. In retail establishments, even if you ask the cashiers how they_re doing with a smile, they do not respond in kind. Bunch of jerks...

There is much more southern hospitality in Louisville, where I_ve lived before and will be moving back to in August. I can_t wait!

  • you_ve got my permission to get out. I_ve lived in those towns where you_ll never really be a local but the people were still friendly and tolerant. I liked kentucky when I was there, nice people great food and beautiful woods and rivers. We were in the area south of Hendersen for the 18 year old girls softball nationals. Guess some towns will just never be home.

  • You can be unhappy where you live no matter how hard you try. My Aunt lives in Kentucky and she literally hates it there. She_s tried everything...she loves to garden but can_t do that because too much clay in the soil...ARGH...so she_ movin_ back to Kansas!!!!
Actually it_s also what you make of it too...Sometimes...you just can_t adjust or fit in for a number of reasons...Some small towns are like that.

  • wow what a crappy town. i thought miami was bad. i can_t wait to leave here. to give an answer, i believe its possible. get out of there man.

  • That is horrible!

I am sorry to hear about your experience.

I don_t think it matters where you are, where you have moved from, or where you live. A smile is a smile, and is a warm and genuine effort of friendship. I don_t blame you for harboring such ill feelings about such people and deciding to move away from them. I don_t think I would ever be comfortable living with those types of people, or wanting to expose myself to that type of environment for any period of time. Life is already too short and the world is already full of grudgery. Go somewhere else where your kindness will be appreciated! God knows there is a shortage of that!

  • Sure....anything is possible.

You know how it is in small towns.......maybe you_ve insulted someone and don_t even know you_ve done so.

But if you_re truly unhappy.....move. Why live somewhere you hate just because........

  • Absolutely. You already know you don_t belong in this town, and you have a plan to go somewhere else. BUT UNTIL YOU DO, you have a purpose for being where you are.

Maybe it is to connect with someone else there who doesn_t belong, or maybe it_s to show a bunch of small-town, narrow-minded people an example of someone who rises above all that and can show courtesy, warmth and humanity wherever they go.

That smile of yours may not be returned, but it will be remembered! You will never know how many hearts you touch, but you can know in your heart that you do. Then get the hell out of there...

  • Sure, it_s possible. I don_t think there are truly cities where people are friendlier or unfrendlier - that depends so much on the individual, but liking or disliking a particular area of the country? Sure, that happens all the time.
  • What is the quickest route from Texas to Wyoming?|135204

We are moving from Corpus Christi,Texas to Rock Springs, Wyoming. We will be traveling with 2 sons and a puppy. Therefore, I need the shortest route with lots of rest stops.

  • You are already on Yahoo so go to maps and ask for a map from CC to Rock Springs.
There isn_t a quick route with lots of rest stops. You will have about 650 miles just to get out of Texas.
Go through San Antonio to up to Aveline, then to Childress. Hit 287 and go to Amarillo. Plan on spending the night there because once you leave Amarillo there isn_t a decent place to stay until you get to Raton, N.M. From Amarillo go to Dumas then to dalhart and Clayton N. M. . At Clayton you will cut north again to Raton, Trinidad, up to Denver. From Denver to Casper Wy. then west to Rock Springs. From Denver to Casper not many stops and from Casper to RS nothing. Trip with the kids, stopping to eat etc. will take 30 + Hrs. about 1500 miles.
Drive careful, be sure to stop when feeling tired. Hwy from San Antonio to Raton is almost all 2 lane so be careful.

  • I grew up in Rock Springs! That_s weird... and why would you want to move there?? lol I think there are about 15,000 people in the whole town.

I-80 goes right through Rock Springs, and you will have to take 25 to get to 80 from TX. There are a lot of long stretches between cities on 80, so there are lots of rest stops along the way.

  • a straight line.

  • Route #41.
  • When are the chirstmas window displays open in Manhattan?|131557

Just wondering when they start? We will be in NY early November and are hoping they will be there for us to show our son.

  • Decorations go on display in late November, right after Thanksgiving.

    Good luck
  • How much Jesus juice does it take to get a Michael Jackson fan to turn around leave LA and go back home?|115218

While most people are at work, these loafing lazy bastards are converging in LA like it_s some sort of a retarded Mecca, creating traffic jams and moonwalking in the streets. Shouldn_t they be ticketed for loitering to help split the bill for all the law enforcement used to protect them from themselves?

  • The only reason I touched this..is I was able to obtain an 11 foot pole....

the rest of your response appears to be the sound of one hand clapping..
or flipping you off...you are so bad...I_m coming to L.A. to personally administer an open palmed ****** slap!

  • I can_t count that high. And how long will it be before we_re allowed to forget about him? If Elvis Presley is an example, it_ll be at least another thirty years.

  • Ah, the juice that only a priest can give.

    .......or Michael Jackson.
