How can I get my lizard from 2 states away?|158369

I live in Indiana and my bearded dragon and Herman_s tortoise is St. Louis. I don_t know how to get them to me, without driving all the way there and back. They can_t go on a plane, and a train would be too long to have them out of their cages.

PLEASE HELP!

  • Put a sign around their necks, have somebody put them beside the highway, and a friendly trucker might give them a ride.

    Drive home and get them.
  • What is the most unusual/beautiful natural spot in the US?|169466

I_m always thinking a few vacations ahead and just would like some opionions on some maybe nice unknown beautiful spots in the US. I don_t like the tourist traps. But i don_t want to spend nights in the wilderness either. Campgrounds work though.

  • Depends on what you like. For ocean views, Big Sur (CA) and Coos Bay (OR). For canyons, Monument Valley (UT) and Dead Horse Point State Park (UT, near Arches NP). For lakes, Lake Tahoe (NV). For mountains, Colorado portion of Rocky Mountains, especially Maroon Bells.

  • Glacier National Park, Wyoming state.

  • Acadia National Park in Maine.
    Kiawah island, South Carolina
  • Wondering how to work in NYC and commuting home on the weekends?|159436

How could I commute to NYC for the week from Albany and go home for the weekend? I know how to get the train to Grand Central, Is there a way to just get a cheap bed and avoid getting an apartment?

  • Sure, you could check the ads on CraigsList for someone who_s looking for a roommate, and then just rent a bedroom in someone else_s apartment, and you_d be the perfect roommate, too, because you_d be gone on the weekends, so be sure to mention that a LOT when answering the ads.

Good luck, and the link below is to the Roommates page on CraigsList...
  • Where can I find a good place to go dress shopping in the Greater Cincinnati Area?|182448

I life in the greater cincinnati area and I know Dillards and Macy_s sometimes have homecoming dresses, but I really want something unique that other girls in my school probably won_t have. Does anyone have any good, different stores that others might not go to?
Boutiques? Or even stores as far us as Indy or Columbus? Throw some ideas at me. Thanks. :]

By the way, I_m a Junior in high school, if that helps narrow the search at all.

  • start hitting up the goodwills. i;m sure no one else will have the same dress that you would be wearing.

  • This depends a lot on what you want to spend and if you_ll have time to order a dress. You might want to check out the Bridal District in Reading (
    http://www.readingbridaldistrict.com/).
You can order a bridesmaid dress in your choice of colors (or a bridal gown if you want). Otherwise hit the malls, there are lots of stores that will carry dresses. Also consider second hand -- thrift stores, consignment shops, e-bay, craigslist. Remember most of the dresses you_ll find were only worn once. Also check out Burlington Coat Factory, they usually have a good dress selection and in general they_re less expensive than Dillard_s or Macy_s. Good Luck!

Any ideas for a nice quiet place to go to visit with my sister on the north side of Indianapolis?|155106

Looking for a park or somewhere like that. Not really wanting to spend a lot of money. Just some some where we can sit and talk.

  • The Broad Ripple area is pretty populous, but has a nice canal walk where you could sit on a bench and feed ducks and talk. There are also several cafes with outdoor seating that are reasonably priced and pretty tasty.

  • Indianapolis has lots of parks where you can sit and visit. I agree with the person who suggested Broad Ripple...it has a park plus lots of little restaurants/cafes that aren_t expensive. Does your sister live in Indianapolis? Ask her if she has any suggestions on where you two can visit.

Here_s a listing of Indianapolis parks:

    http://www.indygov.org/eGov/City/DPR/Par

Click on different ones to find out their locations. Hope this helps.

  • US 31 and 151st Street, go east a little to Cool Creek park. Quiet well kept park away from the hood.
  • What do we do with a dog when visiting Universal Studios in LA?|178119

We_re going during the winter and we_re taking our dog with us. What should we do with him the day we_re in the park?

  • Universal Studios Hollywood provides a complimentary Kennel Service for their park guests. Visit the Will Call window at the park entrance, and your pet will be escorted by one of their Guest Service Representatives to their facility.

Maybe they_ll train the dog to be a stunt dog, and put it in a movie. OK, just kidding.

DON_T leave the dog in the hotel. The dog won_t like it, and may trash the room, and you will have to pay for it.

  • you can_t bring him with you into the park, and I wouldn_t leave him in the car; it might get hot out, and the many passerby could upset him. even though he_ll be lonely, just leave him in his crate in the hotel room with water, food, and maybe a toy.

  • You may have to take him to a doggie hotel or kennel for the day if you bring your dog with you unless you trust he won_t trash the hotel room...
  • What is the weather like in virginia beach and in the norfolk/chesapeake area?|179667

im planning on going to visit my family in that area sometime this summer but i dont know what the weathers like there. never been on that part of the country.

  • The weather in Hampton Roads (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, etc.) is similar to Houston (humid-subtropical).

Summer is mid-80_s, spring and fall are 70_s and gorgeous. Winter is fairly mild and only occasionally dips below freezing. Snow is a rarity. Because of all the water it is humid here and it can especially be felt in the summer.

We get pretty regular rain (3-4 inches every month). Storms can be pretty intense and it can be windy on occasion.
Overall, the weather is nice, if unpredictable at times.
  • How can I buy discount tickets at the Colonial Theatre in Boston?|189698

I want to see a show in March called Avenue Q. I can_t find any details about student rush tickets or other discounted tickets. I_d rather buy the tickets beforehand and I already know about the TKTS booth.

  • Simple answer - try the theater and they will tell you when the tickets will go on sale and if any student discounts apply at that time.

Both the MA and NH Colonial Theater websites did not have Avenue Q on their events schedule.
  • Is it possible to get around Los Angeles without a car? How are the buses and cabs from LAX outward?|190179

I am going to a conference there in October and I am from NY. I am being told the traffic is horrible worst than NY. I don_t really want to rent a car. I_ll be going from I assume (a)El Segundo to the (b)Marriott @ LAX. Does public transit run from point a to point b? I am also being told that cab_s don_t come on time when you call? In fact I am being told the buses don_t run on time either, haven_t heard about the trains. This will be a 5 day trip.

  • I live in LA and have taken cabs many times to get to and from the airport. I have never had one not come on time when I_ve called for one.

Without knowing the address of your conference, I can_t tell you if public transit is going to work for you but it looks like line 109 is what you want:
    http://socaltransport.org/tm_pub_stops.p

    http://socaltransport.org/tm_pub_start.p

  • For the short distances you will be traveling, you should rent a car (it_s L.A. - it makes sense here, isn_t that strange?). There might be some congestion on the larger avenues, but you won_t move slower than 20 - 25 mph at worst. Cabs are an option - albeit an expenisve one. I guess if you will be with colleagues you can all split a cab to/from the convention.

Busses work well if you can take one bus, and if it comes at the time you can be at the bus stop - because they only run once an hour or once a half hour.

The traffic is bad heading west in the morning rush hour, and heading east in the afternoon rush hour, but I_m not sure how the traffic patterns flow around LAX.

I don_t think the metro will serve your purposes, unless you are wanting to explore Universal Studios and/or Downtown L.A., in which case a car will still take less time or the same amount of time than all those metro changes (green to blue to red to gold...or something like that).

  • well there a free shuttle from Lax, to the Marriott hotel
(Lax is Not in El Segundo but Westchester (oart of Los Angeles))
but its a shared service (meaning it might stop at other hotels
before yours) and on the return to LAX especially early morning
a lot of times those bus are already full by the time they get to the Marriott
as for taxis from LAX be advise that there is a Minimum
charge of $15.00 +2.50 airport fee when taking a taxi
    from LAX
its also very expensive to take a taxi here are some of the fares

    Fares (ordinances 177843 _ 178050 , effective 10/01/06 and 12/25/06)

All Passengers Ride for Price of One

    1. $2.65 Flag drop (First 1/7th mile).

    2. $0.35 For each additional 1/7th mile ($2.45 per mile).

    3. $0.35 For each 47.5 seconds waiting time and/or traffic delay ($26.53 per hour).

    4. $42.00 Flat fare for trips between LAX and downtown.

Area bounded by Alameda St., Santa Monica Fwy., Harbor Fwy., Cesar E. Chavez, Union Station and Chinatown.

    5. $2.50 Surcharge for all trips originating at LAX.

    6. $15.00 Minimum fare for trips originating at LAX (In addition to the $2.50 surcharge)

As forr public transit, someone told you
    incorrect information
they will come but depening on traffic, they might be late
and being at the marriott means you have direct service
from the hotel to Santa Monica, (Santa Monica #3) stop
right at Airport and Century) ; service to Culver city including
Howard hughes center and fox hills malls
there are no trains from the airport (the only trains we
have are metro rail (the Green line) Blue Line, Red Line
    Gold Line
    as well as Metrolink
it all depends where you want to go
(if you need bus info email (check my profile for my email address)

  • LAX is located in El Segundo so you won_t have to go far. Just take a taxi and give yourself some buffer time in case of a late taxi. Century Blvd is one of the main throughfares to LAX. (I use it everytime I go to LAX) In fact, you could probably walk to the hotel---it_s relatively close.

LA_s freeway system gets a bad rap. It is superior to other cities and much more extensive. You just need to know when to take it and when to avoid it. At nighttime, nothing beats it. However, you won_t be renting a car so you won_t be experiencing too much.

LA has a good subway system (Metro). Not as extensive as NYC_s but it will get you to the far points of the metropolitan area (including the San Fernando Valley, Hollywood, Long Beach and Pasadena) They have a great website with times and maps. For 5 bucks you can get an all day pass. Also, FYI, there is a designated bus that takes you from Metro Red Line Union Station to LAX--I think it leaves every half hour and costs a few bucks. It runs into the late hours.

If you stay at the Marriot on Century Blvd, then you will be in no man_s land because there is nothing to do in that area except stay at the various hotels. If you want to get away one day, I suggest taking the Metro Subway. FORGET THE BUSSES! Slow, crowded, and not very trustworthy. Remember that LA is a GIANT city, in population and size--in the same league as NYC and Chicago. Getting around without a car is time consuming.

I am a veteran of the LA freeways and it_s subway system, and I also used the busses for a short while. I lived in L.A. for 15 years.
One last thing: If you choose to take the Metro trains, ask the taxi to take you to the green line station. The green line goes east to the blue line and the blue line takes you to the red line which is located downtown. That is where Union Station is located.

  • L.A. Traffic is only bad during rush hours 6-9 am and again from 4-7 pm.

I would think the Marriot @ LAX would provide a free shuttle. Check that out.

Cabs..we don_t use them much but there are a few of them waiting at curbside at LAX. I believe you have to go to the Cab area (a guy kind of keeps things in control).

Now, once at the hotel and you want to go out and do things...that_s another story. You may need a car then. As I said, people don_t use Cabs as much in LA as they do in NY. You can_t just go out onto the street and flag one down.

Forget any trains. You need a way to get to the train station.

If you are just hanging around the hotel the whole time, then check for the shuttle from the hotel.

It_s not true what the last person said about exits not being marked. They are marked for up to 3-4 miles before the exit. You just have to know the name of the street you want to exit onto. Also, our Freeways are a little confusing for those that don_t live here. We don_t have exit numbers (at least they are working on that) , the exits go by street names. Also the freeways say _San Diego_ for example. We all know San Diego is SOUTH of Los Angeles. But for someone who doesn_t live in CA, that can be confusing.

My suggestion: Get some good maps and rent a car if you are planning to go see things outside of the hotel.

  • In the L.A. area, you are lost without a car..they have NO clue what public transportation is supposed to do.

The traffic is heavy but - believe me - the freeways can handle it. They have the best freeway system in the U.S. Your best bet is to either order a taxi to move you around or rent a car. If you rent, get a small car...easier to navigate.....and KEEP YOUR ATTENTION TO THE EXIT SIGNS. Unlike here in the upper east coast, they usually don_t give you a warning that your exit is coming up....it just is THERE.... if you are in the wrong lane, you_ll miss it.

  • I work at LAX. Transportation around the airport is very good. We have shuttles, cabs, buses, Metro Rail. Yes traffic can be bad on the freeways, but if you are staying close to the airport renting a car should not be a problem. Its when you plan to drive from LAX to...say...Orange County that you would have traffic problems. The Marriott is a great hotel and will call taxis for you, but there are generally taxis just outside their doors. If you have any more questions let me know.... kingsleydr60@yahoo.com YOur hotel should be able to provide you with a shuttle.

  • Metro it!
Most LA buses run on a 24 hour basis as well.

  • There should definitely be a shuttle bus from the Marriott that will pick you up at the airport and take you to the hotel. Where those shuttle buses pick up are clearly marked (outside of baggage claim). Taxis from LAX ARE reliable, just not cheap.

I lived in LA for almost 20 years. It is rough to get around without a car if you are planning on doing anything other than hanging at the hotel. However, if you plan on just going _nearby_, taxis can get you there easily enough.

Driving in LA is not nearly as awful as people will tell you. The freeway system is easy to understand. Yeah, there is a lot of traffic but most folks know how to drive in LA, unlike many other parts of the US/the world.

If you_ve got any sense of adventure, rent a car. If not, the taxis/shuttle buses will work for you just fine!

Can anyone recommend family accommodation in New England with plenty on offer in surrounding area?|153016

My husband _ I have visted Boston, Marthas Vineyard, Kennebunkport etc pre children and really want to take our kids there, 9, 7 _ 5 years of age. It_s important to get the right accommodation for 5 of us and that there is stuff to keep kids interested. Bike riding, boat trips, parks, beach etc.

  • Consider Rhode Island. Our small state has many of the things you_re looking for... here in Newport we have beaches, a beautiful big harbor with a wide range of boat trips, gilded-age mansions, many colonial era buildings, a fort, nature reserves, excellent shopping, world-class events etc. Within a short drive, you_ll find much more - a great zoo in Providence, more beautiful scenery and beaches, woods, off-road cycle paths etc. It_s also a great base for exploring further afield - you can get a fast ferry to Martha_s Vineyard, and Boston is only 1.5 hours away by road. Cheaper family accommodation may be found just outside Newport in Middletown, Jamestown or Portsmouth.

  • Thank you Marj, great reply. Sorry it_s taken me so long to appreciate your email. I will certainly look into the useful links you sent. Thanks again.

  • You may want to look into a school exchange program. Generally, if you_re under 18, you need to travel on your own and live in another country for an exchange program that involves some sort of education. I_ve provided links below in sources to exchange program sites. You should also look into this at your school as they may have information on this.

Your other option is to wait until you are 18 and you could apply to a college/university in the U.S. to study there on a student visa.

  • If you_re talking about the new year celebration in L.A., then you definitely have to take your family to the world famous _Rose Parade_ in Pasadena.
You can find motels w/ reasonable prices along the Colorado Blvd. Rose parade is free and the accomodiation will cost you about $100/night or so. You should give it a try.

What restaurant did you love the most while in Waikiki and what impressed you about it? I am planning a trip to Hawaii and I want to know your opinion. Thank you.

  • Duke_s at the Outrigger Waikiki - great atmosphere (particularly at night), good food, live music
Ruth_s Chris Steakhouse - unbelievable steaks, very upscale
Yard House - fun, loud, good music, good menu
Cheesecake Factory - excellent menu and service, busy

    Kua _Aina - great burgers
Cheeseburger in Paradise - good food and music, fun decor

  • I would say the fancy bufet at the Pacific Beach Hotel on Kalakaua ave
in waikiki. It has a large indoor Oceanarium Restaurant, and they dive in and feed the fish while you are eating. If you make reservations the day before, make them for about 6:15pm. I think they feed the fish at about 6:30pm, and if you realy want to surprise your family or guests. When you make your reservations the day before, ask about having a sign made. For about an extra 25 dollars they will make a sign that says for example Aloha welcome ________ whoever or happy birthday______ and you will be seated close to the tank, and your sign will be displayed by the diver when he/she comes by your table. I did for my grand kids when they came to visit and they got akick out of it. I didn_t tell them about and they were so happy and surprised.

    Oceanarium Restaurant

  • Like another person said. The Pacific Beach Hotel Buffet. It was good. There_s a multiple variety of food. We went on a Sunday dinner and there was king crab and a full roasted pig. they also have a pasta station and A LOT of dessert. And the aquarium is an added bonus!
  • Why is it illegal for the people in new york to sell knock of purses?|166185

My daughter and i went to new york and bought knock of purses in their underground rooms, or back rooms! Why is it illegal and such a big secret? Plus why are some purses out in the open but others have to be SO SECRET?

  • Because they are stealing the profits from the original manufacturers.

Yes, bags at a Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Dolce _ Gabana (just to name a few) are expensive as heck! But you get a quality bag. And even though these knockoffs are remarkably close to the main manufacturers, you_re getting a cheaper quality counterfeit. Also add to the fact that if your bag ever broke, the main manufacturers would replace them....not in the case of a knockoff. If anything just TRY to bring in a knockoff into these stores and you may be arrested for owning counterfeit goods.

You took a BIG chance by going in a back room. Some of these places rob you...literally.

  • the only real reason is they pay no tax remember its all about the money...
some vendors pay a license to sell knock offs
some dont and those are consider illegal.. its a shame because the rich is trying to get richer
    P.S
believed or not some of these guys are selling the real purse
it came out in the news some of these purses are real and no one know lol...

  • There are several reasons why it_s illegal -- typically, they are smuggled into the country without the sellers having paid import duties. The sellers are also less likely to report their income or pay taxes on it.

There_s also the issue of copyright violations that are being perpetuated by the manufacturers.

  • they are knockoffs, not the real thing. losing the maker of the REAL thing millions if not billions of dollars, plus to taxes have been paid on the imported good. Others are similar but not knock offs. but might have similar patterns without the REAL purse makers name on it.

  • For the same reason that it_s illegal to sell boot-legged movies and CDs....

Give the designer and artists some credit....

  • Because the profits do not go to Louis Vuitton, Chanel or Dolce _ Gabana..
And some of the profits actually fund terrorism.

  • Copyright/design infringement, no sales tax paid, no vendor license,...etc....It is essentially black market goods.
  • Where is the best place to live for serious solo work?|175337

...secluded inexpensive housing near a lake? I have lived the Urban Life and it is beautiful. I need a change for the next two years. I need the lush green and the singing birds and all that. I am open to living anywhere in the United States, but would prefer to at least be 2 hours from some kind of life.

  • Lake Guntersville in Alabama is a great place to be, and the real estate prices are amazingly low. For more info, go to
    http://www.guntersvillelakeinfo.com/

  • West Tulsa, Southwest Santa Fe, North Miami (Actually north OF Miami), or Southeast Alabama (yes, the state.).

West Tulsa still has some people in it, but theres a lake nearby, and there are indeed birds, but its really just small flowers, trees, and patches of grass.

Southwest Santa Fe is for _winter wonderlanders_.

Country north of Miami is a good choice if you like the stuff like living around snakes and other biotic factors like such. If you can avoid using sudden movements, you don_t have anger or fear problems, and you don_t mind going outdoors around snakes once a week, then this is the #1 choice, all across the country.

Finally Southeast Alabama is the simplest, and it is like a second resort to the Northern country in Miami. Its not in the tropical area, and its nowhere near any amusement parks or serious life, but it does have that same pretty green grass. It has birds, trees, grass, and lakes. However, it does have a lot of bugs. No snakes though.

  • My niece did the same between undergrad and grad school. Escaped it all at Crested Butte for two years. check it out.

How good are the Columbia summer programs in new york city?|155581

i just got into the stock market program at columbia summer program. has anyone gone on any other program and was it not a waste of time?

  • The summer programs admit just about anyone who is willing to pay, but that doesn_t mean they are no good. I_m sure you_ll learn a lot and have some fun in NYC. You_ll get out of it whatever you put into it.

During the summer, most students at NYU and Columbia go home, so both schools use their summer programs to gain some extra revenue and to fill classes which would be otherwise be empty.

I_ve taken summer classes at both NYU and Columbia and they were not bad at all. In fact, campus will be nice and empty which is a nice change from the hectic fall and spring semesters.

In summary, as long as you_ll be studying something you are interested in and the credits transfer to another program which would give you some kind of terminal degree or certificate, I don_t see any problem with taking part in one of these summer programs.

    Have fun!

  • I_m doing that program, too. It seems like a really good time to study the stock market, as well, so I don_t think it_ll be a bad experience. Especially since Wall Street is right there.

  • Is renting a limo from the airport to my hotel really worth it?|162331

I have waited in long taxi lines before in vegas and found them really unjoyable. I don_t mind paying a little extra if it is worth while. We get to vegas at 5pm on a saturday, and there are four of us staying and the MGM. If you do think its worth the money what is the best limo service? Or should I spend my hard earned money another way?

  • As others have stated, a limo to the MGM is an expensive 5 minute drive that would run you about $45-50.

Another mentioned a shuttle. X-nay that idea unless the taxi line is an hour wait. I doubt that on a Saturday evening. That shuttles are about $5-6 each. If there are 4 of you that_s
    $20-24.

Taxi - The Taxi Authority has it estimated at $12.30 to MGM. If the taxi line is short the fare may still be a little higher because of traffic on Tropicana on a Saturday night. Just tell the driver NO TUNNEL or it will cost you double plus. If he does tunnel you then get his name and number from his permit hanging in the cab, the cab company and cab number. DON_T tip him and let him know you are reporting him. Then call the Taxicab Authority and report the driver.

If you really like the idea of a limo, and yes I_ve done the limo and enjoyed the experience, then here_s another suggestion.

At your beginning location where you are boarding the plane and while you are waiting for your luggage, see if you can find 1-2 other passenger(s) that are also staying at MGM. If they don_t have other transportation arranged they maybe interested in sharing a Limo ride and expense. I_ve successfully done that to Paris. I believe the maximum for a limo is 6 passengers. It still is a little more than a taxi shared 4 ways but it does get a little extra attention when arriving. Since I am a women..._flattery is wonderful_. ; o )

  • It is abslolutely worth it- the lines are so long at the airport for a cab it looks like a line at an amusement park. Getting back to the airport however the lines are much shorter from the hotels- and i don_t think you need a ride to the airport. But when you arrive have a limo or towncar waiting. I_m going to vegas on tues. and have always booked a limo. I_m having a pickup at the airport, with a liquor store stop and dropoff at the palms i have a 6 passenger limo for one hour and it_s $53.00- a town car would be cheaper. You can get an online quote form lasvegaslimotransportation.com or maybe it_s lasvegastransportation.com, or you can them for reservations at 1800-621-1535. They are a reputable company that has driven for michael jordan during the all star games, amongst other celebs. Definitely get the limo or a towncar- it is worth every penny, and actually not that pricey- considering you_d be paying at least $8-17 anyways, plus your valuable time. Best of luck

  • Only you can answer that question. However, you might also look into shuttle services [e.g. Super Shuttle] or perhaps your hotel offers a shuttle service.

Go to the airport website and look for _ground transportation_ for info on what_s available for how much.

  • For crying out loud, you can throw a stone and hit the Strip from the Airport. Take the shuttle buses for the quick 5 minute trip. A limo is overkill. For that kind of money you can rent a car for a week.

    *

  • Hello,

yes limos are worth it, and they_re cheaper in vegas
    find one at
    http://www.LimoXonline.com

  • Before you pay to rent a lime, check with the MGM because they probably have a free shuttle if you are going to be a guest in their hotel. Most do. And I bet the limo is no cheaper or faster than the taxi.

  • The limo line is a lot shorter. I live in Vegas, we gave up on the taxis a long time ago. Yes, a limo is more expensive but what is your time worth ?

  • I would say it_s up to you. Personally, I would just take a cab and spend my money on something that would make me happy for more than a half an hour.

  • the mgm is as close to the airport as you can get.....sat nite at 5 the cab lines should not be bad.....with 4 people take a cab....

  • Limos are a fun way to go but most hotels have shuttles. Guess it just depends on you

  • It honestly depends on how mch money you want to spend. I personally like to spend my money on other things.
  • How can i get married in North County San Diego fast and cheap?|190310

Is there a way you can get married fast and cheap, Then have a big wedding later?

  • yes go to the County Recorder_s office in San Marcos, cheap and quick!. . . or there is always Vegas!!

  • There is not much you can do fast or cheap in North county San Deigo

  • Marry in haste; repent in leisure.

  • Drive to Vegas...it_s not that far, easy and convenient.

  • there is a chapel at the barona casino. or just look online.
    easy.

  • There is a wedding chapel on Vista Way in Vista. It is west of Emerald and east of College. You can see it from Hwy. 76 on the north side of the highway. A lot of Marines from the base get married there.

  • Whats the best neighborhood for young professsionals in Dallas?|175414

I am a 22 y.o. student graduating in a few weeks and relocating to the Dallas area for work. I will be working in Plano but want to live closer to the city near other young professionals. I have heard rent is pretty high in Uptown/Downtown. Where is a good place to live outside of these areas with affordable (under $1000 for 1bed) rents?

  • You_d have the best of both worlds in Plano or Frisco ... very nice towns, with good shopping, restaurants _ housing - low crime rates - and just a short drive to downtown Dallas....

  • My daughter who is a single, young professional lives and works in Plano. She loves it. She has a large, very nice 1 BR apt. near Preston _ Park (across the street from million dollar homes, literally). $850 a month at LaVentura Apt. My neice is a single, young professional who lives in Uptown and pays over $1,100 for less sq. ft., but it_s nice there too. So either Plano or Uptown would be a nice, safe place for a young woman to live. Welcome to the area.

  • Addison is a great place to live. It is on the Tollway right to Downtown. I have lived here for 8 yrs. $10 lifetime membership to the Athletic center.

    Best of luck
  • What helicopter tour should my family and i take if we go to Maui?|186324

I_ve been looking into Blue Hawaiian and they sound interesting but which area should we do and which type of helicopter should we ride in? This website will help http://www.bluehawaiian.com/maui/tours/
Thanks for your time and help.

  • Blue Hawaiian Helicopter is a first-class company whose helicopters have large windows and individual luxury seats (not bench seats). They fly big modern Eco-Star helicopters that hold six passengers, so that is the type of helicopter you should ride in. As far as which area of Maui to see by helicopter, I suggest the Haleakala crater and the rainforest on the way to Hana.

There is a comparison of the various Maui helicopter companies on this page:

    http://www.mauihawaii.org/maui-activitie

  • I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian. They have the BEST safety record on the islands and also fly the new Eco-Star choppers (make sure you ask for one) that are extremely comfortable and offer great visibility, even if you have one of the two inner seats (the back row is 4 seats).. We have flown them twice and while there are cheaper services, I go with the best!!

  • Can a tourist use their drivers license while visiting the US?|141220

Hi, a friend of mine from Mexico is staying in Iowa for a couple of weeks for work training. She wants to rent a car and come to visit me to Minnesota during the weekend. She has her valid drivers license from Mexico with her, but we were wondering if this is all she needs or she needs to get some other kind of permission, if so, how and where to go? Thanks in advance.

  • She should also get an International Drivers License. And IDL is only valid when accompanied with a driver_s license issued by the owner_s home jurisdiction. It will have all of the information on it translated into English, so a police officer in this country would be able to read it.

  • Thanks, very complete. She came to visit me using just her mexican drivers license, the international license is a good idea, but I_ve heard they are kind of expensive and she would only stay here for a couple of weeks, so didn_t seem to be worth it. Well, thanks again and have a nice weekend!

How can I get to the scenic Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles?|177310

I want to drive through the scenic Mulholland Drive in Los Angeles and perhaps stop over for a couple of pictures. I am heading over from La Mirada. Thanks in advance.

  • Mulholland Drive is a gorgeous place to take pictures from, but the chances of getting lost are quite high. The way I_m going to tell you is a little further in miles than other options, but it_s also easier and less complicated than other ways.

Take the 91 across to the 405 (or, if it_s easier to take the 5 north into the East LA interchange, and then the 10 across from Downtown, and then go north on the 405 from there, do that), and go north until the Mulholland Drive exit. At the top of the ramp, turn left onto the access road, and at Mulholland, you can go either left or right for amazing views.

If you go left at Mulholland and head west, you_ll be in the hills above Encino, and the road will go for about 3 miles before it ends, but the views of the valley from there are lovely.

If you go right and head east, you can take it all the way through Sherman Oaks, Bel Air, Beverly Hills and into West Hollywood and the Hollywood Hills. There are dozens of places to park on the side of the road and take in the views.

If you follow it all the way across the top of the valley from one end to the other, you_ll find yourself above the Hollywood Bowl at one of my favorite overlook places. It_s on the right about a mile past Outpost Drive, and it_s a clearly marked little parking lot with telescopes and eveyrthing. From up there, you can see the 101 freeway, all of Hollywood and Downtown, but if you_re not familiar with the way back down into the city and to the freeways from there, it would be less confusing to just go back across the way you came, and take the 405 back to the 91 and go home. Truthfully, the views change with the time of day and where the sun is, so going back the way you came might be just as fine as the first time across.

I go up there all the time, and it_s always fun to drive around and see what you can find.

Best of luck, and feel free to email me if you_d like more info.

    :D

  • there are only a few spots where you get to see the entire city. rent a small plane and see the city at night
  • What are some good restaurants to eat at in downtown Chicago for lunch?|188220

I work at LaSalle and Madison and i am tired of eating the same stuff for lunch day in and day out...its either Chipolte, Bacci, Subway, Rolly Polly, Chase building, or Corner Bakery..what are some other places besides those that are good to eat for luch around that area in the loop.
3 minutes ago - 3 days left to answer.

  • Try the Elephant and ? on Adams and Lasalle. Very good, not too xpnsve.

  • The Berghof cafe, Adams East of Dearborn, is in the same price range as these places; Oasis Cafe, at 17 S. Wabash is very good middle eastern,The Mallers Building Restaurant, on the second floor at 5 S. Wabash is good deli, as is Ada_s on Wabash (also sit down), they do carry out. Farther afield is Perry_s on Franklin north of Randolph, which is a bit on the far side for you. A little farther away, but in Printer_s Row on Dearborn just south of Harrison is SRO, a reasonably priced fast food grill with good turkey burgers. There_s also a reasonable thai place IIRC in the DePaul building at State and Jackson. There are many, many places on Van Buren, in fact, both east and west of LaSalle. Happy exploring.

  • Try Hannah_s Bretzel...

    http://chicago.citysearch.com/profile/36

Or try any of these place. Some are more upscale and sitdown type places, some are more casual. Places in the West Loop are mixed in there to so skip those...

    http://www.timeout.com/chicago/Search.do

  • Millers Pub!

  • The Elephant and Castle is very good, as is Trattoria #10, on Dearborn.

  • If you walk two blocks north of La Salle and Madison you have the Thompson Center...you can go inside and down the escalator and there are a number of restaurants in the food court there. There is also Ronnie_s Steak Place on the corner of Clark and Lake Streets.

There is also a restauarant at the corner of La Salle and Randolph called _Petro_s_ thats been there for years.

If you feel like walking a little more, there are a number of fast food places on the corner of Dearborn and Lake Streets and between Randolph and State there is an Arby_s and a Mexican Fast Food place.

Another different place to try is Macy_s. They have a basement food court as well as the standard Walnut Room...both with decent food and great places to eat.

These are just a few of the many places in the downtown area. I_m going to leave you with a link to a site called _The Local Tourist_ which gives even more places to eat in the area.

  • What sorts of interesting things are there to do in Alabaster, Alabama?|158880

It should interest girls in 8th and 9th grade. They are a girl scout troop taking a trip and they were looking to go to Alamaba.

  • Let_s see...Oak Mountain State Park.

In Birmingham, the Sloss Furnaces, the Civil Rights Museum, the Birmingham Art Museum, etc. etc.

In Calera, the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum.

In Montgomery, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival.

Try canoeing on the Cahaba River. I think several people offer that.

Lots of stuff, really, if you look hard enough.
  • What is the cheapest and easiest was to move cross country?|172361

I have to move from Maine to Colorado...I have quite a bit of stuff! Any ideas?

  • a. Do your parents live in Maine? Pick out the stuff you really want or need, and leave the rest with them. When they come to visit maybe they can bring something each time so you don_t have to worry about it all at once. Drive a U-Haul

    b. Pack everything up and let the movers do the loading and offloading for you. You fly - let them drive.

    c. Pick out the things you really want and need and yard sale the rest for extra cash. Drive.

  • Hi, I just moved from Pennsylvania to Charlotte,NC. I rented a truck from uhaul and attached my car to the back of it. They give you estimated miles and cost and it is usually right. Plus they have a free dolly to help you move large things and low truck beds. Or you can have a company move it all for you and you will not have to drive a big truck....though I am not sure of the way they charge.

  • Depends on if you want to drive or not. I would not want to drive that distance myself. Cost of gas is a big factor as well as meals and lodging....

I moved 2200 miles years ago and used a container service to move and it was cheaper than a uhaul truck plus I had storage available until I found a new place without reloading the container or emptying the truck.........

Before that, I rented a truck for a 1400 mile move but had less stuff and less kids so it worked...It was a shorter drive than the move you are considering.

Do a web search and you get quotes from several companies that lease the containers or use door to door or similar comapnies. The quotes are free and then you can compare to see what would work better.

    Good luck in Colorado.

  • Driving, renting a U-Haul truck.

  • I would have professional movers do it and just pay it and forget about it, You never know how much stress and danger await renting a truck, packing then loading, then unloading and unpacking, not to mention the driving for days across unknown territory.
Pay the money and move on , figure out a way to make up for it later, It is just money, where the other is quite an adventure that you never know what may happen.

  • I just moved from Michigan to Georgia, and I drove. I found a place that rented trailers for a week for really cheap, and I drove my car and my mom pulled the trailer behind her. It was less expensive than Uhaul and worked great. I got mine at a local hardware store, maybe you could check places like that. I was able to get everything between the two cars and the trailer. But the downside was that she had to drive it back.

  • get rid of all of your stuff and start afresh in colorado. i did.

  • Drive ( rent a uhaul)

  • Well, sort through the stuff? Get rid of all of the non-essential stuff [hint, if you have not looked at it in 3 years --- get rid of it]

Look into PODS where you can pack a trailer pod and they will move it to you when and where you need it. Drive your care (lightly packed -- fuel is high). Find a small place where you will reside (keep expenses low at first --- you can always upgrade after a year --- learn to live in your new area on a very small budget). Have PODS move your container to where you are --- move it all in or move what is essential and leave the rest packed in the POD --- wait a year --- if you have not used the junk in a POD --- hold a garage sale from the POD --- put all money from sale in a bank.

  • Covered Wagon....
haha, jk....uhaul is pretty well priced

  • Renting a big cargo van and driving there yourself would be cheapest. If that isn_t big enough for all your stuff you should rent a u-haul. It will be cheapest if you do everything yourself. Enlist friends and family to help you pack. Good luck!

  • How come some parts of Denver look so rural?|161933

Like for instance there is nothing by the airport and a few other places where you would expect to see things. Will there be a lot of growth in the coming years?

  • Well, the airport is not _in_ Denver. It was purposely built way out in the boonies so there would be room to grow, and to prevent complaints from nearby residents.

  • The old Denver airport (Stapleton) was originally built way out in middle of no where. Then the city grew around it and everyone stupid enough to buy a home near it complained about the noise/traffic etc..

When it was time for a new airport they did the same, making the new airport way way out in the prairie. At first there was nothing around it, now hotels and other services are starting to pop up close to the airport. Give it time.

The Colorado front range is one of the fastest growing areas of the country.
  • What are the big differences between living in the southeast and living in Los Angeles CA?|159549

Living in the south is great and Ive never lived anywhere else, I will be moving west within the next year. Im curious about what to expect.

  • It_s VERY expensive.
I am extremely happy to pay $1450 for a 2 bedroom apartment in a nice area.

    It_s congested.
Too many people on too few freeways.

The people are rude and mean.

    The weather never changes.
There is no humidity, so you skin and hair are going to dry up very quickly. Get used to carrying a water bottle with you.

    Everyone is pretty...and fake.
You can get plastic surgery as easily as you can get an apple.

    EXTREMELY diverse!
Unlike the South, it_s not just Black and White here. There are cultures from all over the world who call LA home.

  • I think Joan Didion was paraphrashing Gertrude Stein who first said, _There is no there there!_ She was speaking of Oakland, too.

    Refer to
    http://www.bartleby.com/66/37/55537.html

See my previous answers about LaLaLand.

  • cost of living is cheaper

  • Housing is through the roof! We paid almost three times as much for our house here as we did back home (texas) but the shopping is great. The food is great. The wine is fabulous. The southern hospitality is gone though! All of my new friends call me Mrs. Texas bc they say I am so friendly to everyone. And everyone will listen to what you say bc of your accent so you have to be careful not to offend anyone although everyone is really laid back! Oh, did I mention the shopping?

  • rise in housing prices ...more bmw_s and mercedez and also much better bragging rights. Oh yeah more homeless are visible

  • Summers are not humid in LA, so even if the temperature sometimes gets as hot as in the Southeast, it_s much less oppressive. Also, It doesn_t rain in the summer in LA.

  • I_m a lifetime native of LA. Joan Didian said it best when she wrote _There is no there, there!_ In LA, you drive everywhere. Even if you_re going a block, you take the car, and curse the traffic. LA is smog, freeways, rude people, and noise. You can live in a place for 10 years and never speak with your neighbor. But it is also charming. The sunsets at the Hollywood Bowll on a warm summer night are amazing. Likewise, any type of music, art or festival you like is always happening somewhere nearby. Within 2 hours, you can go from swimming in the ocean to skiing down a hill, which is something everyone should try at least once. But the best part of LA is that _cold_ is anything less than 64 degrees!

  • The oceans/shores/waves are different. Smog is out of control there! The values and morals are different. Everyone is fake in Los Angeles but they_re nice to you, which I_m ok with it. I_m from Pittsburgh and moved to Los Angeles and no one really tells you the truth, everyone has weird motives, etc... but once you get used to it, you_ll be ok. Housing is definitely expensive. It_s not as glamorous as everyone thinks-far from it, actually. HOWEVER- the food and shopping is great, you can_t beat the weather (most of the time), you get to see movie stars at random spots, you get all of the movies before almost anyone else in the country does... I love Los Angeles compared to NYC. I_d move back in a heartbeat if I could. And there are good people there if you search for them!

  • The biggest is probably the time zones. It takes a while to get used to different time zones (where jet lag comes from). Although theirs is a different ocean you will find that the culture is very much the same.

  • In Los Angeles, you can find a really ghetto dangerous area, and drive for 15 minutes into a really affluent, clean, safe area.
LA is so diverse. It_s one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. That_s the big difference you_ll find.

  • It_s great if you_re wealthy or in tha Crips.

  • I have travelled to almost every city in the US including all of the southeast. There are alot more work opportunities in Southern CA. The people here are very self concious and selfish. But its not their fault, its just the system. The better you look the more chances you will have to succeed. Hispanics, corrupt and otherwise, have dominated certain lower end communities while places like Orange County are dominated by racist white consertive powerfuls who have priced out many of the hispanics. Most of the gang activity is in Los Angeles County especially from Long Beach up thru the 105 / 110 freeway corridors. Nevertheless, you_ll never here people say hello or be nice like in the south, unless you_re a total hottie. Most people just keep to themselves and mind thier own business. Good Luck.

What are fun things for adults to do in Detroit area for a weekend?|161926

We will have a car and a free Saturday and Monday in Detroit area. How is the Henry Ford museum? Any other suggestions?

  • The Henry Ford Museum and Village are great places to visit
go to The Michigan Renaissance Festival

  • Detroit is awful... BUT. If you like to gamble, there_s casino_s. There_s also Romulus and the Landing Strip if you are a man and like that sort of thing. Otherwise, agree with everyone else. I_m there this weekend for KISS, so Detroit will be A-OK for me as long as I don_t get mugged.

  • The day you go, if the weather is lousy, go to the museum. It will take you the whole day to see it ( if you don_t linger too long at any one item or vehicle )! If the weather is good, then do the Greenfield Village instead where likewise you can easily spend the whole day. Check out Belle Island ( about 5 - 6 miles East of downtown Detroit ) and drive on the _old Detroit Grand Prix_ race track! If you wish, and have time, you can tour Henry Ford_s house in Dearborn, Edsel Ford_s house in Grosse Pointe, the Dodge/Wilson house at Meadowbrook in Rochester / Rochester Hills or even the Fisher house (Fisher Body /GM fame) not too far east from downtown in Detroit. The museum is heavy duty in technology and wonderful if your into cars, trucks, trains and such while the village is in my opinion more interesting if your interested in history though it has it_s share of technology presented ( Paddle wheel boat, Model T_s, train ride, etc). Either way you will love going to either, just remember to wear comfortable clothes and good walking shoes! Food and other concessions are available at both museum and village. Welcome to MY hometown, Enjoy your visit!

  • The Henry Ford museum is great. Other suggestions: Detroit Historical Museum, Motown Museum (Hitsville USA), Detroit Institute of Arts, Pewabic Pottery, Cranbrook Institute of Science (in Bloomfield Hills). There are also cider mills in the Detroit area such as the Franklin cider mill in Franklin, MI. Stony Creek state park in Shelby Township is nice (has trails).

  • Museums are great, there_s Henry Ford/Greenfield Village, or the Detroit Institute of arts.
It_s more of a family thing, but I like to go to the cider mill this time of year.

  • Most of the adults in Detroit don_t have time or money to have fun. They are all out looking for jobs. Any money you spend in the city will be appreciated.

  • Well, the State Fair is this weekend.
  • Wondering how to work in NYC and commuting home on the weekends?|174926

How could I commute to NYC for the week from Albany and go home for the weekend? I know how to get the train to Grand Central, Is there a way to just get a cheap bed and avoid getting an apartment?

  • Sure, you could check the ads on CraigsList for someone who_s looking for a roommate, and then just rent a bedroom in someone else_s apartment, and you_d be the perfect roommate, too, because you_d be gone on the weekends, so be sure to mention that a LOT when answering the ads.

Good luck, and the link below is to the Roommates page on CraigsList...
  • What is a great city in the south to relocate other than Atlanta?|172438

I am looking for place to relocate to in the South. This city should have plenty of jobs and a decent nightlife. I know everyone is going to recommend Atlanta but I am really not interested in residing in Atlanta. Its a great city nonetheless but I will pass. So anyone have any great places what would be your top 5 best cities in the south. The best answer gets 10 points right away.

  • Jobs and nightlife - you could hardly pass up Miami!

  • Tampa, FL.

  • Pensacola Fl.

  • What train services run from Boston airport to Brattleboro, VT at of after 6pm?|106084

I need to fly to America and get to Vermont. I have seen a flight which lands in Boston at 17:10 on December 24th, I then need to get a train upto Brattleboro station the same day.
Being from England I don_t know of train services in America, apart from Amtrak which I have looked into. Amtrak unfortunately don_t have any trains running at the time I need.
Does anybody know of any others that run?

  • I do not believe there is any train service at the time you need. Is there any way you could fly into Vermont and catch a local bus? Or perhaps have someone pick you up at the airport? At this crucial travel time, your best bet is to try and get a flight into Vermont and use local bus or cab transport. Enjoy your holiday!

  • Amtrak is the ONLY long distance train provider in the USA.

Americans mostly abandoned train travel decades ago in favor of auto and air travel. Trains serve very few cities. And unfortunately Brattleboro has no airport.

I suggest you try Greyhound Bus. They have a stop in Brattleboro and a station in Boston about 3 miles from the airport.

    Check here:

    http://www.greyhound.com/home/TicketCent

    Enjoy your trip.

  • Public Transportation, particularly trains, are not big in the U.S. Amtrak is it. I_m always amazed when I go visit my English relatives, how easy it is to live without a car there. Here you need a car if you don_t live in the city.

You_ll have to look into Greyhound Bus or Vermont Transit Bus.

  • This looks like a crunch to do but hopefully Greyhound will work for you. Also if you are travelling the next day or New Years Day be sure to check the holiday schedule in case it_s different than daily one (not sure if Christmas eve will also have special time changes).

  • Why are the moutain marines train in the serria Nevada mountains not a better place like Colorado?|162407

I think Colorado is a much better place in terms of mountains. Colorado has 58 14,000+ FT tall peaks and has very rough and rocky terrain I would think that if the Marines want the best training they would go there.

  • Where did you get the ridiculous notion that the mountains of Sierra Nevada are inferior to the Colorado Rockies ?
Have you ever personally seen, hiked , climbed ,skied the CA Sierra Nevada ?

  • You do not get invaded in the middle of the country, you get invaded from the coasts. If they are on the coast, they are closer to deploy during wartime SINCE YOUR SHIPS ARE ON THE COAST(S)!

What are some things to check out along the Northern California coast?|160566

My friend and I are going on a weekend trip to Eureka, CA (we live in Sacramento) next weekend. I definitely want to check out the redwoods, obviously. What are some things I want to make sure not to miss while I_m up there?

    Thanks.

  • If you went up I-5 to Mt. Shasta City, you could check out Mt. Shasta before taking the beautiful drive from there out to Eureka at the coast. Castle Crags State Park is before Shasta at Dunsmuir, a beautiful place to stroll in, intersected by the Pacific Crest Trail. Across I-5 from the park is the Sacramento River, perfect for dropping in an inflatable raft and paddles, even if you don_t know what you_re doing, for a bit of whitewater fun. Trinity/Claire Engle Lake is on the way out towards the coast. All that region, the Marble Mountains, Scott River, the Trinity Wilderness, is awesome. I love it up there.

  • I want to move to the states from England. i have a carreer in hospitality management, where should i start?|158476

I am 21 years old have been working in the trade since school and am fully qualified. I know entry to the states is competitive and was wondering if there is any call for overseas workers in the hospitality management field.

  • Sorry, not a chance. First, you need a degree to get a work permit for the US. Second, the US has plenty of people out of work who can work in this field.

Your only hope is to work for a firm that operates in both the UK and the US and get a transfer to the US after a few years.
  • What is the cheapest and fastest source of transportation to get from West Covina to San Pedro, CA?|159145

And back. It_s about an hour drive. I have no car and everyone I know is too busy to take me there.

  • yes there is route you can take first take the foothill sliver streak
bus to El Monte station (get a transfer)
then board a metro 577 express bus to Long beach then take
the 577 bus to its last stop at the Long beach transit mall
then board a LADOT 147 bus to San Perdo
you can get ez pass which will be good on all buses for about $80.00
(although you will still have pay a zone fare on the silver street and the 577)

  • Go to
    http://www.metro.net/default.asp,
or call their 800 number and see what they can tell you.

You_re going from one end of the county to the other and it_s a bit of a stretch, but I bet it won_t be as bad as you think.

    Best of luck !!

  • I really don_t think there is any fast way that_s cheap, or cheap way that_s fast.

Take a cab or go on line and check out the metro

  • Cheap and fast are contradictions.

  • Try hitchhiking or use your bike if you have some spare time.
  • Can people recommend good value hotels in Manhattan and must see and do things in NY/surrounding area?|147964

To mark getting on with my life after months spent getting over my wife leaving me, I am packing a rucksack and flying to New York - no pre-booking hotels for me! I am spending 8 days and would love peoples tips and advice, especially on where to stay (not too expensive, but reasonable quality) and what are real must see_s? Am also think about hiring a car and heading to new hampshire for a few days - any tips? Thanks in advance all!

  • The Belvedere Hotel. 48th Street, 8th Ave.
It is across the road from Broadway, If you walk up the little road from the Hotel you end up on Times Sqaure, 10 mins from Central Park. I have stayed there all the times i_ve been to NY and i love the hotel. It is cheap and great for a NY hotel!

    http://www.belvederehotelnyc.com/

    The Hilton Garden Inn
It_s pretty much in the same location as the Belvedere but on the main road. It is also around the same price.

    http://www.belvederehotelnyc.com/

There is a hostel in Manhatten, Not sure where. But here is the link for the website:-

    http://www.bigapplehostel.com/

Places to see! Where do you start?
1.) Go up either the Rockefeller Center Or Empire State!
    Amazing views! Approx $18.00/ $20.00
    2.) A walk around Central Park/ Bike Ride/ Horse + Cart ride.
3.) Visit Ground Zero Museam + The Site. (World Trade Center)
4.) Take a boat trip around the Statue Of Liberty. It goes right up to the Statue so you can get good photos and it slows down then it goes around the sky line of NY + under one of the bridges and turns around, It doesn_t let you get off at the statue, if you want to do that then get the other boat but you are stuck on the island for 45 mins, there is nothing else there (not good if cold + wet) Otherwise get the boat that goes around the Statue.
5.) Visit Times Square at day + night
6.) Go see a show on broadway (maybe)
    7.) Shopping!
8.) Museams? Lots by Central Park.
9.) Take the _Hop On Hop Off Bus__ And do the night tour on there it goes over the Manhatten Bridge to Brooklyn and you can watch the sun set over the skyline- amazing!
You can also just hop on the bus anywhere and it will go around the city (two buses for upper + lower NY) it_s good ticket is vaild for 48 hours cost about $48.00 but it;s worth it for a first time in NY.

There is a grey line bus tour shop on Times Sqaure and you can get free maps, brochers and they have monthly booklets of what is happening in the city that month and other little bits in there.

Good luck with everything and i hope you have a great trip!!

  • Do the hostels - there are bound to be several in the area. If you_re a member of the YHA then you_re a member of Hostelling International, and will get reduced rates, otherwise you just join up and collect tokens for each night you stay to become a member. 8 days isn_t enough, go for at least two weeks!

I wouldn_t bother with a car, just get the bus (there are loads and the service is pretty good, cheap too).

Need any more advice, let me know!

  • GOOD FOR YOU!!!

    Check Out:
    -Grand Central Station
    -Carnegie Deli
    -South Street Seaport

  • Hi there
Take a look on www.tripadvisor.com.... me and my family have just booked a 3 week travelling trip to America ( new york, boston, washington dc...etc..) and before we booked any hotel (or in some of the places we were staying, B_Bs) we looked on trip advisor...basically people post reviews on hotels, sites and B_Bs around the world...and the amount of places we looked at which were cheap and looked nice which were then given bad reviews on trip advisor was unbelievable!! And we would have booked some of them if it hadn_t been for trip advisor...so it is really useful...and it also gives links to sites that sell rooms quite cheaply...but if u weren_t going to book it then it is useful for seeing the general price depending on the season and if it is a nice place to stay in or not...and most of the reviews give an idea of how close it is to things...so at least if u look at some that are nice b4 u go then u will no that u aren_t walking into a hotel that is a dump...have a look at www.podhotel.com...it was cheap and had good reviews on trip advisor and looked really funky...think is was on E 51st street so don_t no if this is any good but it did seem like a good place to stay...hope this makes sense and hope it is useful...

  • I just stayed at http://www.bblodges.com/ this past weekend for 1 night. It_s on the upper east side near two 6 train subway stops. It_s not central, but near central park and easy to get to a subway. It_s priced well, very clean, and the owners are really nice.

Sites: Met museum, Frick museum, guggenheim museum. Central Park. If it_s nice weather, the Cloisters (part of the Met museum but located on the northern end of Manhattan). If you want to see the statue of liberty but not actually step on the island, you can take the Staten Island ferry for free and it has a good view.

  • hmmm.. usually the hotels in nyc are pretty expensive,, i dont know,, youd have to look around... but you should go to central park and rockefeller center (OMG LIKE AN UNDERGROUND MALL!) there are a lot of museams to go to,,, the museam of natural history, museam of modern art.. just walk randomly on the streets and youll find something lol

  • yes

  • Checkout the followings website

What places do i need to go to the Grand Canyon?|155213

I_m taking a trip to the Grand Canyon from Ky. I need to know the best places to go on the way there and back since we are taking a different route back. I need things like: Museums, restaurants, stores, sites, and any other places you can think of.

  • There are plenty of things to see. Sedona, Walnut Canyon Cliff Dwellings, Meteorite Crater, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Petrified Forest and Painted Desert. Swing up and check out the Dakota sites. Mt. Rushmore, Swing thru Colorado, Check out the wagon train tracks and Windlass Hill or the Arches Museum in Nebraska.

  • Visit Sedona, which is around 100 miles south of Grand Canyon in Arizona. It_s absolutely awesome and relaxing.
  • What neighborhood does Belmont and Kimball in Chicago come under?|160162

I_ve asked this question already..but I_m not 100% sure if the answers were right. Anyway, I am thinking about renting an apartment that is in 3123 Bernard Street in Belmont and Kimball. It_s minutes away from the Blue Line Station. I just wanna know what neighborhood does it come under? I think it_s lakeview but I_m not sure. If possible can someone also tell me how that place is? For instance, is it comparatively safer than most other places? Is the neighborhood nice?

  • That is definitely in Avondale. It_s a relatively safe area. I mean, Chicago is a big city so always be smart and never let a particular neighborhood give you a false sense a safety ;)

    http://www.chicago.com/neighborhoods/Avo

  • Logan Square?

  • That_s Avondale. Any neighborhood that far west is going to be sketchy. I_d suggest looking for a place further east in Lakeview. Anywhere by a blue line stop gets horrible at night.

  • I believe the area in question is called Avondale. I live a little bit further west and would like to say that it seems to be safe, but you should never let your guard down. I am not sure of the exact building you mentioned the neighborhood has its ups and downs.
If your looking for something more diverse I suggest Lakeview which is further east on Belmont very nice area but pricey. Although Lakeview is well kept it tends to always draw rapist or attackers of some sort.
So do your research of the areas you are interested in living. Go by the building at night to see what kind of people may be hanging out near ( if that_ll give you a sense of security).
  • What is there to do in Orlando other than disney and universal?|144701

we are going on vacation for 3 weeks in orlando. We are doing disney one and universal the other. We dont really care about see world. We are both in our twenties. Any suggestions on what else there is to do in orlando?

  • Here_s a few things to do in Orlando besides Disney _ Universal:

    1. Sea World
    2. Airboat Rides are always fun, especially if you get to see a gator or two!
    3. Gatorland Zoo (Kissimmee)
    4. Cocoa Beach
    5. Holy Land Experience
    6. Blizzard Beach (part of Disney though)
    7. Old Town

Here_s a link with all these and more (also has links to all these sites):

    http://www.thingstodo.com/states/FL/cn.h

  • Drive out to Cocoa or Sattilite beach and ejoy the surf. There is also NASA, which is always cool. I_m sure you can also find one day cruise ships. Sea world Orlando is not that great, you_re not missing much.

  • There is a new theme park opening called Aquatica.
There is a vibrant club/pub district in Downtown Orlando
There are all kinds of one-off attractions in the I-drive area (bungee slings, wind tunnels, go carts, dinner shows, etc.).
    Don_t miss the Beach
    Kennedy Space center
    Hot Air Balloon Ride
    Airboat Ride
Gaming at hard Rock Casino (Tampa) or gaming cruise out of port Canaveral.

  • go to seaworld or go to downtown disney there al ot of stuff to do and see there. or go to we n wild.

  • Twenty somethings enjoy wet n wild water park, some shopping? Millenia Mall, Outlets? Prime or Premium outlets. Nightlife? Universals City Walk Hard Rock Live. Go carts? Funspot. There are tons to do. If you will be renting a car I would drive down International Dr. I am sure you will find something to do there.

  • Beach for sure...cocoa beach is only 1 hr away from south orlando...cape kennedy has a nice visitors center and tour...very cool stuff if you are into missles at all...New Smyrna beach is about an hour and a half up I-4 and St. Pete Beach on the west coast is like 2.5 hrs away...east coast has waves, west coast does not....take you r pick.
  • Where are the best places in the US to go backpacking?|144596

My friends and I really like backpacking, and living in the outdoors. We were discussing taking a trip someone over the summer to go backpacking. The only problem is that we don_t know much about good backpacking trails. We would really like to know the best trails with the best scenery (like rivers and lakes and stuff like that) in the US, preferably the continental states. So, do you have any suggestions for me and my friends?

  • Couple of thoughts come to mind - I understand the Smokies have wonderful hiking trails. Say from Virginia south. In the Portland area there is the Cascade river gorge lots of great hikes and you can even check them out online before you go. If you want to add some canoeing - the Boundary Waters Canoe area in northern mn is isolated, primitive and beautiful. No motors allowed good mix of river, lake and forest.

  • Michigan_s Upper Peninsula . Beautiful up there
Lake Superior lake shore is AWESOME and there are over 300 waterfalls and hundreds of inland lakes there. I love going there .Trail follows the Black River north to Lake Superior. This is a one way trail and is moderate in difficulty and takes about an afternoon to complete. The Black River trail has spectacular views of waterfalls and the gorge. Try to go when the wind is from the north as the bugs are nearly nonexistent, otherwise take plenty of bugspray!
    Directions to Hike
From Ironwood, Upper Penninsula, Michegan, go east on US highway 2, just before Bessemer 1 mile turn north onto County Road 513 (aka. Powderhorn Road), follow 10 miles to best parking at Great Conglomerate Falls. Camping available.

What is the best place in Hawaii that can fit my standards?|168102

My family and I have been thinking of moving to Hawaii.(Any island will do.) We are looking for a city that is big, but not too big(like above 100,000), and will not be racist against mainlanders. We also need a middle/ high school with high education, (My Family is smart.) and needs to have a big amount of students, and big sports teams. (Mainly Football and basketball.) So, which city would fit my standards? Or if does not exist, which city is closet to my standards?

  • I agree with Shine...why do you want to move to Hawaii? Have you been there? It really doesn_t seem like it would agree well with you.

There really isn_t a big (but not too big) city. Honolulu_s population is about 400,000. The next most populated city, Hilo, rings in at 40,000. There_s a fantastic boarding school on The Big Island (home of Hilo) called Hawaii Preparatory Academy, but it_s quite a ways from Hilo.

Big sports team? Have you seen the NBA team Honolulu Honus? NFL_s Lahaina Monk Seals? Didn_t think so. What exactly are you looking for, here?

  • If you like the city life, I have no idea why you would want to move to Hawaii, but Honolulu is your closest bet.
PS. People in Hawaii are not _racist_. When you get here we kindly ask that you do not try to impose your _standards_ upon us, and treat our _aina and people with respect.
    Mahalo

  • Honolulu would be your best choice. Its the city.
As far as racist, theres no need to be worried. Hawaii_s a melting pot of cultures, just don_t be ignorant.
Well you could always enroll your kids in private school here, there academically challenging.

  • over 1 million people in Oahu alone....substandard schooling. if you are really smart as you say you are, dont move to hawaii

  • you will have to LOWER your standards to live in Hawaii.....better viewed from afar.
  • What are the best things to do with kids around the Smithsonian?|142213

We are probably going to start at the Museum of Natural History. My girls are preschool age and I think they will like the dinosaur bones. We may go to the Air and Space museum as well, but are there any other highlights/must see things to do around the Smithsonian for young children? Thanks!

  • Several of the museums have special areas for kids - it is a good idea to check them out. In specific, the National Museum of Natural History has discover stations - and a lot of stuff that makes sense on a Children_s level.

Air and Space is good, too, but geared to an older crowd - so take it easy. The Planetarium and IMAX movies might be good, but also might be frightening. Take them in exhibits where they can see things on their level - the Wright Brothers exhibit comes to mind, as do the air and space halls, rather than ones which are more intellectual (earth to the moon). One of the exhibits, how things fly, is very interactive. And there is a video in the exhibit on the planets where they sing _The Family of the Sun_ to the tune of _the farmer in the Dell_, which is quite amusing.

Of course the National Zoo tends to really resonate with kids, and have lots of stuff for kids to do. Go to metro_s Woodley Park/Zoo exit and walk about 8 blocks uphill. (I understand you can also go to Cleveland park and walk 10 blocks, but downhill.)

Someone already mentioned the carousel - it_s not expensive, so let the kids take a ride, after all, the museums are free (as is the zoo).

There is art to see for kids, too. Between the National Gallery of Art, the National Museum of Natural History and the Archives is the Smithsonian_s Sculpture garden. This is a beautiful garden which has some whimsical sculpture which your kids will like. Make sure to check out _the thinker_, not the one you thought of, but a bunny in the same pose, the Roy Lichtenstein house and the chairs. But also look at Calder_s Cheval Rouge, which is there, and let the kids experience a great piece.

And the Postal Museum, off the mall, also has stuff for kids. Good news is that it is also right next door to Union Station, in the basement of which you can find a food court with affordable food to fit any taste.

There is a Discovery Theatre at the Smithsonian Institution - if you can get tickets, they have shows for older and younger kids, so check out if they have something running for younger kids.

  • Well, we raised four kids in the DC area, not too terribly long ago, so we have some experience here.

  • There is a carousel on the mall. Also, don_t forget the National Zoo is part of the Smithsonian. It is beautiful and it is free; if you can go early before it_s hot and crowded.

  • the merry-go-round on the mall
bring a kite to fly near the Washington monument
the Natural Museums of History has some great i-max films (some in 3-D which is always cool for kids)

  • If they are pre-school, they will be worn out by the time you even get to the A_SM. That would not be that interesting to them.
  • What should we do for our honeymoon in Duluth, MN?|132182

My fiance and I are going on our honeymoon to Duluth, MN in July. Neither of us have ever been there. We will be staying in a hotel. We don_t want to do a whole lot of _touristy_ things. We are planning to have a relaxed time.

If you have been to Duluth please let me know what you really enjoyed there.

    Thank you.

  • Well I used to live in Duluth in fact I was born and raised in Proctor Mn which is just up the hill from Duluth, What I would say to do is to take a tour of the north shore of Lake Superior there are lots of bed _ Breakfast places and try not to visit the area during the grandmas marathon as that event causes more traffic congestion in one day then they have in the whole year. Other than that they have no smoking Rules in most places in Duluth-----hope this helps

  • um, it_s a honeymoon.....

inside activities with maybe an occasional visit to the hotel pool or the liquor store

  • yeah rite... buy a tee shirt that says Duluth Mn on it.
  • What should I see on vacation in Philadelphia?|141815

I_ll be there for about a week with my husband and 16 year old son.

  • I_m originally from Philly and I miss it almost everyday. Of course, everyone listed most of the must-see sights. Don_t forget about the art museum! Reading Terminal Market is a cool place to go as well. Just across the river in New Jersey is the aquarium. I also recommend finding time to just walk around the neighborhoods, particularly Rittenhouse Square, Center City, Society Hill, Old City (personal favorite), South Philly/Queens Village. There_s tons of great little art galleries, shops, restaurants, etc everywhere you turn in these neighborhoods. If you happen to come the first of the month, they have First Friday in Old City where between 5 and 9pm all of the art galleries are open to show off their new exhibits. It_s a really cool atmosphere. Make your way down to the waterfront (Penn_s Landing) and/or Boathouse Row on the Schuylkill River. Check out the famous cheesesteaks at Pat_s and Geno_s (they_re across the street from each other). I am personally a Geno_s fan - my friend is all about Pat_s. Make sure you look up how to order correctly! There_s also the Italian Market on 9th that_s a cool thing to check out.

There are endless amounts of restaurants everywhere you turn - some of the more famous ones are the Steven Starr restaurants (my personal favorite is Jones) and I also love the Philadelphia Fish _ Company. The Moshulu is the famous restaurant on a boat in the Delaware River - obviously more expensive but a great experience. Some cool Irish pubs that have great food and even greater atmospheres are The Black Sheep Irish Pub and the Dark Horse Pub. Even now, when I go back and visit, I just love to walk around these neighborhoods and take it all in - to this day, I still always stumble into new places that are complete gems.

Enjoy your time there! Hope this helped!

  • Go to Independence Hall, Go see the Liberty Bell right across the street, go to the Franklin Institute and you_ll have a BLAST!! Also, go to the Constitution Center! They have a really awesome LIVE show with a speaker and it_s just amazing. I live like RIGHT outside of Philly and i never get a chance to go! I love it there and with all the history we have here, it_s just so.....amazing. You should also visit where Ben Franklin_s house used to be and his print shop. You_ll learn a lot and it_s really informational. Also, there_s the Betsy Ross House. lol, i hope i_ve given you a lot of suggestions :)

  • You should definitely tour all the historical places like the Liberty Bell and the Betsy Ross House. Also drive about fifteen minutes out of Philly to Valley Forge (King of Prussia area) and visit things in Philly like the constitution center and museums like the Franklin Institute and the art museum. DEFINITELY (IF POSSIBLE) go see a Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park. They also have horse and buggy rides in Philly where you can learn a lot of unique historical facts from your driver person while going around Philly. Have fun =]

Where is a good place to live around Savannah GA?|144380

My husband and I both love Savannah GA and are looking to move to the area around the end of the year. However, we_re coming from the North East and are not very familiar with the region. We are looking for somewhere with reasonable to cheap house prices, but that is still a decent place to raise a family and close to the city. Any suggestions?

  • Tybee Island would be the best but the most expensive. I would suggest taking a look at Whitmarsh Island. Both are really close to Savannah but the crime is ? of what you will find in Savannah. Personally I would pay a little more and make sure that it was safe for me and my family.

  • For inexpensive and family friendly - I would look in the Pooler area. It_s 10-15 minute drive to downtown Savannah. There are dozens of housing communities (some very established like Southbridge, and some that are brand new). The area is constantly growing. And the public schools in West Chatham (that_s the county) are much better than in the city of Savannah. It is also not as crime ridden as Savannah.

Another area (probably a little more expensive) is Wilmington or Whitemarsh Island. Half way between Savannah and Tybee (the beach!) Good schools, low crime, affordable areas.

Savannah is a great place to live! good luck with the move!
  • What is a good family resort within a couple hours drive of NY?|121577

I_m looking for something not too expensive and has an indoor pool. I have three young ones with the oldest being 4.

  • How about 1 of the dude ranches in NY ? I_ve been to 2 of them and they can be a lot of fun, and everything is included in the price..the one I remember most is Rocking Horse. They do have a pool but I don_t recall if it_s indoors or not, all the kids things to do are supervised.

I am going to Chicago for Thanksgiving and I am taking my 22 month old daughter. I am looking for things to do that is not extremely expenisve but fun and interesting for her. Please someone help me figure this out.

    1) The Notebaert Nature Museum, in Lincoln Park, which has a year round butterfly haven with hatchings every day, that may interest a toddler; it_ll certainly interest you, which may generate interest in your child. $9 for you.

    http://www.naturemuseum.org/

    2) The Shedd Aquarium: Look! colorful fish! Now the Shedd is very pricey, but if you decide you don_t care about seeing whales and dolphins, then you can substantially cut the cost of the Shedd. The cheapest admit, to the older building only, costs just $8 for you. The full pass costs $27.50 for you.

    http://www.sheddaquarium.org/index.html

    3) The Museum of Science and Industry, which has a baby chick hatchery that appeals to kids of all ages. The Jollyball machine also may catch your child_s attention (It_s a huge wild homemade _pinball_ machine...in which a ball travels through Switzerland...much cooler in person than the description. There_s also lots of stuff (trains, airplanes, farm equipment) that kids can climb in and on. $11 for you, plus $12 for the car (there is CTA service from downtown).

And then there are the Macy_s (Formerly Field_s) holiday windows at the massive store on State at Washington, which this year have a nutcracker theme. Free, unless you obey the siren song of the department store and walk in. :)

I_d recommend some children_s theater if you child were a year older, but a 22-month old won_t likely get much out of that.
  • How hard is it to drive Washington DC? Going to Nationals game, driving from Annapolis to Arlington.?|143711

I will be driving from Annapolis to Arlington, Virginia and then from Arlington to the Nationals game. What type of traffic should I expect? I understand DC is hard to drive in, even for those who are used to major cities.

  • Do you have reserved parking? There is little or no public parking available at the stadium--it_s all set aside for season ticket holders who have paid extra, and other VIPs.

It_s far better to park in Arlington and then take Metro to the game. That_s what most people do. You_ll also avoid the traffic that way.

If you don_t have a specific reason for going to Arlington, you would do still better by parking at one of the Metro stations in Prince Georges County Maryland, such as at New Carrollton, and taking the Metro from there.

  • I just attended my first game on Saturday. We took Metro and arrived an hour early and left before the final inning. I wish we had driven. Yes, its not cheap, but frankly the roads were clear as could be. I asked the police who where stationed everywhere on the blocks who said weekends seemed to be easier to drive as most folks were taking the advice to go Metro. Metro was fine, btw...but as I said...we gave ourselves plenty of time to get there and get out. I only know I wouldn_t want to wait out to the last minute as Metro was packed even as we rode.

Evening games, are another matter! They told me roads were a mess. So....Metro it, if its a game during the week...consider driving and parking at RFK and take the shuttle to the stadium.

This stadium is AMAZING, btw. Take lots of cash...great concessions...but not cheap.

  • I HIGHLY recommend driving to Arlington and taking the metro from there-- the D.C. traffic is insane. Try driving to East Falls Church metro station, parking there, and hopping on the Orange line to L_Enfant Plaza. Connect on the Green line to Navy Yard, where the new Nationals stadium is, and you_re set.

  • If you live in Annapolis, why not drive to New Carrollton at the end of the Orange Line, take the Metro to L_Enfant Plaza and switch to the Green Line? I also understand there_s a shuttle from RFK Stadium, but I am not sure how close that is to the Stadium Armory Metro entrance.

  • Don_t forget if it is a day game on Sundays, parking on the meters is FREE both in DC and Arlington Va so close to any Metrorail stop should be good...

    Hope the Above Info Helps!
  • What is a fun place to visit for a honeymoon in February?|154809

My husband and I were not able to take a honeymoon when we were married. Well, next February will be 8 years, and we are now able to take a honeymoon! I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for that time of year. Also something not cheap but not terribly expensive. :) thanks!

  • Congratulations!

I would suggest an islands circuit in French Polynesia that would include, at least Tahiti, Bora Bora and Moorea!

  • Go to the Phoenix AZ area. It is an amazing area that will have perfect weather in February. There is so much to do and they have very nice resorts to stay in. We got a resort in Scottsdale on priceline for $60 a night. With it being a big city there is always things to do. Here is a great site to go to, http://www.visitphoenix.com/ . I can not say enough about the area because it is just beautiful and it will not break the bank.

  • In February, try South Padre Island in Texas. Weather is great and it_s a romantic place. California is way to expensive and the people are phony.

  • California
  • I am planning a Las Vegas trip for 2 people in 2 states in September do you have any money saving travel tips?|127853

This will be my first time going to vegas I live in Florida and my Mom lives in Michigan. I want to surprise her in September with this trip. We will be leaving from each of our separate airports and I would like for us to arrive around the same time. I would appreciate any travel tips anyone has about deals , hotel , car rentals, must do things while there, best hotels. Thank you !

  • It would be much cheaper to stay off the strip, but you still may want to stay close. walk rather than take a cab or pubic transportation. I wouldn_t rent a car. because you don_t want to drive in Vegas especially near the strip and NEVER on the strip. I made the mistake and was stuck for a very long time in traffic.

  • Thats really good to hear. There are several websites which can give you deals. like orbitz, expedia, lastminute etc. There are some travel aggregator websites where you can find deals from all major travel deals provider at one place. I would say visit
    http://www.Grab2Travel.com
    it might be helpful.

  • Here is a site with lots of tips for first time visitors to Las Vegas.
    http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com
There are lots of fun things to do in Las Vegas. Everything from Vegas free attractions, to casino hopping, to Shopping to Vegas tours etc...

  • Regarding the hotel room I recommend to book it directly with the hotel in order to be more flexible. In addition I would check current hotel special on sites like
    http://www.vegas-hotels-online.com

  • Depending how long you are in Vegas you need to decide whether you need a car I always rent one but many people dont and dont think its needed have a look here at these two posts the first one is about car rental and the second about where you can for trips outside Vegas.

AS far as hotels go the most important thing to get the best price is to book direct this means no middle man and you can cancel or change you booking with no penalty up to 48 hours before check in, there are some offers below.

MGM is a lovely big hotel with the most comftable beds in Vegas, a great pool, great location and less than 10 minutes by cab from the airport. MGM launched some new offers yesterday that over up until September if you book by Visa you can have a free massage at the spa, or a free upgrade to a spa suite or a free in room breakfast form $79 per night.

How much would a Disney world vacation cost for 7 people?|142289

Well i want to go to Disney world because i finished high school. And i want to know how much would it cost for 7 people to go and stay for 5 days the ages are 53,50,22,19,16,14,10 and is it cheaper to go by plane or car???oh and how much are the tickets to go to all 4 parks?

  • Lodging is going to be a bare minimum of $50 a night per room. You_ll need two rooms so figure $100-150 a night for lodging.

5 day park hopper passes are $43 per day for anyone 10 and over. Those are only good for Disney parks so Universal/Sea World/Islands of Adventure are all going to be seperate.

With these numbers I_d say you are looking at $2000 or so.

To make your trip cheaper, look into weekly stay lodging. Consider only going to maybe 1 or 2 parks instead of all of them...there are lots of parks in Orlando. Take a day to drive to the beach(free!).

Do your research online and book ahead! Hit the parks up on weekdays so they_ll be less crowded. Find hotels with shuttles to the parks..Disney has a very good transportation system once you get on their property. Take advantage of the free sites at Disney like the Boardwalk and Downtown Disney...you can walk around all you want for free(great night time activity) you just pay for certain areas(Pleasure Island, DisneyQuest, AMC 24, etc.)

  • Well... I can_t answer that because I don_t have the information of where you live in the U.S.A and I couldn_t possibly ask that because it would be way too much info! But! I know where you can figure it out! Go to:

    http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/ind

And I_m sure this will be able to answer all your questions! :) I hope I helped! Oh, and, have fun fun fun in Disney World!!!!

  • With 7 people I would definitely consider renting a condo or staying at a villa type of resort.

You can check out condos at www.allstarvacationrentals.com

They have different prices depending on what kind of house you want to stay in. Obviously, the more luxurious the house the more expensive.

You can also check out villas. Disney has some villas but they are very expensive. I would check out Sheraton_s Vistana in Orlando. They have 2 bedroom villas that fit 8 people.

If you go at an off time of the year you can probably stay in a Disney Value resort for a resonable price. You can get 2 rooms and get them connecting (not adjoining!). Connecting means that there is a door in between the two rooms, while adjoining just means the are next door to each other. By staying at a WDW hotel you can get picked up and then dropped off at the airport for free by Disney_s Magical Express and you can also use their transportation. This means if you fly you do not need to rent a car!

Disney has now made it cheaper to stay for 7 nights instead of 5. Staying for 7 nights would only mean about $4 more per ticket and then the cost of your hotel. Not a bad deal and you don_t have to squeeze everything in 5 days.

You can check out www.mousesavers.com for ways you can save on your WDW vacation. She shows when codes are available and other ways to save on your vacation.

I would also check out www.allearsnet.com to check out the different hotels on Disney property as well as the Sheraton Vistana and All Star Vacation Homes. She sometimes offers deals as well.

www.mousepad.com has a great forum where you can ask all your disney questions and see what others have asked to help plan a great vacation! You_ll find me on there!

Whether you should go by plane or car it depends on if you would have to take 2 cars or 1 and how far you are. Check out airline prices.

If you are trying to convince your parents figure out an estimate and go to the disneyworld website to order the vacation planning video. Show them the video and show them the prices you came up with and see what they say!

    Good Luck!

  • If you visit
    http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/ind
you can go through and check different resorts, ticket options, and get a quote on how much it would cost. You can compare the different resorts and find the best fit for you and your family. You may want to consider one of the Disney Vacation Club sites if you all want to stay together. When members aren_t using the rooms, anybody can reserve one.

  • I can_t answer that! But, I can tell you not Cheap!

  • I suggest checking out the vacation forums that can give you better information!
