How much should I plan on budgeting on souviners in Disney World?|168575

I want to get a couple things for myslef and my boyfriend and something for my parents and brother and a couple small things for a few other people or myslef lol....any sugguestions on what to get and the best places to shop and how much moey to bring? Thanks!

  • I would not use the Disney Shopping website as a guide. There are many items that are only available in the parks, so you can_t price them online. Also, Disney Shopping has frequent sales, the parks do not.
I like to browse around for my first few days and get ideas, then I shop toward the end of my trip. If you have a Disney Visa card you can get a discount at the World Of Disney store in Downtown Disney. Also, they have a huge selection of stuff at Downtown Disney with many different shops for all different tastes. It is a good place for one stop shopping!
I would plan on around $300-$500 depending on your taste. Another idea is to set an amount you want to spend for each person and then find something in that range. There is so much to choose from, I am sure you could find something for anyone in just about any price range.

  • Take a look at this website for some items that you might like to purchase and calculate the cost of it online. That should give you a pretty good estimate.

    http://disneyshopping.go.com

  • $250-$500... it_s expensive! It also depends what you want to buy! Set a limit on how many items and how much you will spend on each person. I went one time and decided to get gifts for my family(about 4-5people) who lived oversea_s and I spent $1000!! :-O And I was banging myself over the head once I found out how much I had spent all in one day! It goes so quick, so be careful!!

My suggestion is to either have the things sent to your room (if possible) or shop at the end of the day. Otherwise you will end up lugging around everything all day and that gets tiring! Every resort/onsite hotel I have ever stayed in had an excellent gift shop as well with disney merch.

Good Luck! And happy shopping! =)

  • Depending on you taste, I would budget at least $300. If you are extravagant, budget more. If you looking at smaller trinkets as gifts, budget less.

The best place to shop is World of Disney in Downtown Disney. Unless you are looking for more park specific items, WOD will give you a large selection.

  • Tell yourself that you will only spend $10-15 the most $20 per person if not youll end up buying the whole world of Disney store.

  • You can get a few cool things for $100 bucks. You wont find many sale items there. However, there is a wide variety of items in every price range.
  • How hard is it to find a good serving job in Maui?|142498

I am planning to move to Maui within the next two months. I_ve been a server (not find dining) for about 4 years, and I was just curious as to how easy or difficult it would be for me to find a job. Also, I don_t know how good the money will be. I know that living out there is expensive...

  • Most people in the service industry don_t make alot of money there and room rents are very expensive. Most people end up rooming with several others who can share the rent.

There_s always a shortage of good servers in most of the hotels in Lahaina on the west side of the island as well as the hotels on the SE side of the island in Makena.

You may also find some serving jobs in Kahului in the North central part of the island.

Hana is a beautiful part of the island on the east side, but there_s only the Hana Hotel and most tourists don_t eat or stay there because it_s VERY expensive.

As for other expenses...gas is about $5(+) per gallon and food is about 20%-30% more expensive in the stores.

As Jessica mentioned, speaking a second language is very helpful, especially Japanese, Korean, Polynesian, or French.

  • Where there is tourism there is a need for servers. Lahaina is where you_ll find most of the tourism on Maui, and hence, many restaurants and bars. Wailea, Kahului and to a lesser extent, Kihei will also be places where you_ll find opportunities.

If you have experience, it_ll help. I_ve talked to many people from the mainland who had stories not unlike yours and made the transition.

Of course it_s very expensive, but I_m sure you know all about that, it_s no secret at all.

  • Its not hard to find a job, Its just hard to find a good one. You can work at a resort or get paid to fish or something, but if you are looking for a gig that will help you pay the rent, don_t even try. Prices are crazy and jobs don_t pay well there. Its just not practical.

  • It shouldn_t be too hard - there_s a lot of restaurants on Maui from Fine dining to Casual to Hotel and Fast Food. They need great people that are dependable and have a good attitude. Maui is a nice place to live but like you mentioned cost of living is pretty high. Good luck!

  • if you speak a 2nd language, very easy
  • Im going to Projekt Revolution at the Blossom Music Center. How early can you get in to park?|180697

My friends and I are planning on going EARLY, like before 8 AM, so we can try to get up front in the pit. Is it possible to get to the parking area that early or even just into the park? If not, what can we do in terms of parking, etc? And is there more than one gate? Thanks!

  • Well I don_t think they open the doors until noon, and I have no clue what time they open the parking lot. There is only one main gate to get in and out (there are a few little gates you can get out but not in), and the way they are doing it i guess is they are having 2 stages, and they aren_t opening the main stage until 3 o clock.

And Blossom is way out in the country, they have 4 parking lots, 1 parking lot is for the people who paid for a parking pass, and the other 3 are first come first serve. If they fill up you have to park on grass, and its a long, long walk. So I don_t know about getting there at 8, possibly a little later, just don_t be late, or else plan on walking.
  • Where is a good place to sell a vacation package?|152717

I have an orlando florida vacation package I have to sell. I cannot travel due to health reasons this year and need to sell it quickly. Any ideas where to advertise? Free places please.

  • First I would verify that you are not able to cancel the vacation first without any fees or problems like that. Most place in the Orlando area are very good if do need to cancel, most not charging any fees, but it depends on when your vacation was.

If you aren_t able to cancel you need to confirm that you are able to transfer the vacation. Most places require the lead guest to remain the same or the reservation needs to be cancelled and redone. If this is the case there may be fees involved.

Finally, you could check with some message boards, specifically Disney related boards where people may be looking to take a vacation to the Orlando area. Also Cragislist is a good idea. Just be very careful because this can be risky for both sides involved. Be sure to have as much proof of the vacation that you can, a lot of people will question whether or not this is real or just a scam. The more proof you can offer the better. On your end you need to be very careful that you get all of your payment before changing anything to the new party so that someone doesn_t get your vacation and you get nothing. So be sure to keep good records and use a secure payment method to be on the safe side.

If you had insurance purchased for your vacation, which would probably be your best bet at getting your money back. Make sure that health issue isn_t something they would cover. Good insurance companies will refund just about every penny of the trip in most cases. So hopefully you had the purchased.

Good luck and sorry to hear you can_t go. I hope everything works out for you.

  • How far away is Strongsville from downtown Cleveland, OH?|178606

And what is the best way to get from there to cleveland? I am only 20 and the enterprise rent-a-car_s in cleveland have age restrictions, so is there a transit that goes from and to both places and how much are taxi_s usually? Also, if you could give me any information of cheap hotels in cleveland (less than $70 a night), that would be very helpful.

  • Check out the rta trip planner here:

    http://tripplanner.gcrta.org/

It may be able to get where you_re going for cheap.

There are so many different taxi companies that you may want to call around. Here is a list of some, and some of those include reviews of their service:

Here is a link to a place where you can compare prices on hotels:

And here is where you can read reviews about the hotels:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=com.micr

But I think your best bet might be to visit your local AAA. They should have all kinds of guides about local hotels and some of the other information you_ll need.

  • Strongsville is about 11 miles away from downtown. Taxis are about 20 i think. Also, if you mean a hotel/motel in Strongsville, I know that there are a lot of little hotels in Strongsville (they are probably really cheap as well)

Also, Strongsville has a huge mall (Southpark). You_ll love it

  • Strongsville is about 15 miles to downtown Cleveland. It all depends upon which part of Strongsville. You can get on I-71 at Rt. 82 or at Rt. 42 (Middleburg Hts.) I_m not sure about taxi rates anymore. I_m not sure what your hotel/motel question really is...downtown or Strongsville or in between. There are lots of motels and hotels with the motels generally less expensive than the hotels. And downtown will be more expensive than the suburbs. I live in Strongsville and have lived in the area for about 50 years. Email me if you want more info.
  • What will the weather in Kentucky be like in August, statistically? How do I find out?|151357

I know there is a way to find out how the weather generally is the last week in August, but I can_t find it. We are going houseboating on Lake Cumberland and I am curious what to expect temp/rain wise. Also water temp??

  • You can use the site below to find out the usual weather in a certain place for certain dates.

  • Hot. This is a very hot summer this year.

It is Ky, though. The saying around here is _Don_t like the weather? Wait five minutes and it will change._

  • wikipedia usually tells the climates heres what you needed

  • Would the trek to Vermont to the bear factory be worth the trip?|145082

I just received a Vermont bear as a gift. I see they have quite a factory and tourist trap. I was just wondering if anyone has been there. Thanks in advance.

  • Sounds like a great trip to me. There is a place in Colorado called Estes Park that is beautiful. They have this big shop in the shape of an Ark and it is called Estes Ark. They have TONS of Boyd_s there.

  • Probably it is, because Vermont is a nice place. You can also stop at Ben and Jerrys on the way up there (Eastern side.) Or you can travel up the West on Rt 7 and visit Bennington and Manchester. Even if it is a tourist trap, you_re gonna have fun and a nice relaxing weekend. I would love to do that. It brings back wonderful memories of when my son went to summer camp in Vermont. Except, once we stayed at the _Chicken Pox Hotel_ and the kids all got chicken pox. I had to go back a week later and pick him up. Enjoy!

  • if your driving down rt 7 in VT then yes its worth a stop. its a very nice tour but its not some place I would make a long drive just to visit.

  • I collect bears. I am hoping to visit the Boyd_s Bears factory in Pennsylvania someday...if the gas prices go down.

  • Never been there or to Vermont either.I hear Vermont is beautiful in the fall.
