Hows the job market in LA? Is it easy to find jobs there and are there many jobs?|162053

What time of the year are there the most jobs? If compared to phoenix, which city is easier to find jobs and have more jobs?

  • I would say jobs, in general, are easier to find in LA because the job market is so much bigger. Check out monster.com and careerbuilder.com, to see a few jobs in your field.

  • I don_t know the Phoenix market at all, but the LA market is vastly bigger. In certain job types, I am sure it is seasonal, but my opinion is that if you are GREAT at your work and come highly recommended and exhibit a great attitude, you will always find work.

    Good luck!

  • I agree with what they said earlier regarding the job market. It also depends on which field you are looking into.

Check the websites suggested and also http://losangeles.craigslist.org

Also the www.latimes.com then click on jobs

  • lots of jobs if you_re an illegal alien but if you have any viable skills, those jobs are being outsourced to india. you might want to apply at the post office.
  • What is the cost of living in the state of illinois?|136455

i need to know the cost of living in the state of California, Louisiana, texas, Illinois and atlanta so that i can compare them and get a statistic.

  • The site at the following URL will give you cost of living figures for 289 cities.

The cost of living in Illinois depends on location. Chicago is more reasonable than New York or San Francisco, but there is a wide range of housing. Better neighborhoods and some of the more upscale surrounding communities can be pricey, but there are also very affordable areas. Downstate Illinois offers less expensive living,

  • You need to go to the library and do your research.
  • What should my girlfriend and I do in NYC for our one day trip?|182582

We_re 17 and we are going into the city on the 29th for the day and plan to just do whatever and enjoy a nice meal. Anyone have any suggestions on what to do? Not too crazy about spending a lot of money.

  • Inexpensive:
Ride Toys _R_ Us Indoor Ferris Wheel in Times Square.

    Free:
    Ride Staten Island Ferry
    Explore Central Park

  • It depends on how touristy you want to be. I like times square, she_ll probably love walking through toys r us and Sephora and the Hershey store etc.. but its a pain to be in those crowds for very long. Central park is a great great place in the city where you don_t have to spend any money. I wouldn_t personally spend the money on a carriage, walking is just as relaxing. I would walk in from the lower west corner at Columbus Circle and work your way up to the Metropolitan- that way you get a taste of the upper west and east side. Also, the Upper West Side is a great place to find cute restaurants. Just walk up Columbus and you_ll find something great and usually pretty reasonable.

Another fun one is going down to Chinatown/ Little Italy- if your girlfriend likes purses she_ll have fun bartering for a fake and its a fun atmosphere downtown, great place to wander. Just get down to Canal Street and have fun finding your way around.

As for transportation, if your looking to save money- take the subway- if you only have a certain amount of time though and you want to get on the other end of the city, splitting cab fare might help you see more in the span of a day.

One last thing. Riverside Park, if you go in around 72nd street is a fun walk along the river.

    Hope that helps! Have Fun!

  • i suggest going to central park. its very peaceful there.
also you could go to times square and just wander around. do a little window shopping. there_s that ferris wheel at toys r us which costs like around i think 5 dollars to ride. its pretty cool.

there_s also ice skating at the Pond which is in Bryant Park (42nd and 7th ave) which is this skating rink that has no admission fee. you only pay for the rental skates. if you have your own skates then its totally free.

to eat out i suggest going to Dallas BBQ at 42nd near 8th ave. its pretty cheap for a lot of food. there_s also Juniors which is a bit more expensive but like for example the chicken Parmesan (which is amazing btw) is big enough for two people then you can buy dessert for like a total of 30 dollars.

  • Take a horse carriage ride thru Central Park, its usually like 15 bucks per person for 45 minutes or so. Otherwise just walk and explore it! I highly recommend walking thru Strawberry Fields or under the bridge.

Or walk around Time Square and look at all the beautiful christmas displays. See the big christmas tree (which lights up on Dec 3rd!).
See ground zero _ walk thru the beautiful church across the street. Or go window shopping at all the high end stores. Honestly, the possibilities are endless. Just get into the city and take it from there.

  • iight max- find out what kind of food she likes the most (ex. mexican=taco bell -jk (like a nice restaurant chi-chis or something nice )) idk what else she likes to do? go to a flower shop and buy her stuff
  • Is it possible to make a trip to Empire state from Newark Airport within 5 hours?|150955

I Would be reaching Newark airport @ 3pm and my next flight is @ 8:20pm on the same day.
Could you please suggest the shortest way to reach?
How much time it would take to reach empire state building?

  • The best way to get there would be to take the AirTran from the airport to the NJ Transit stop. From the train stop, you can take the train directly into NY Penn Station. Try to sit near the front of the train. Once in NY, you can easily walk to the Empire State building (if you sit near the front of the train you_ll be near 32nd and 7th, and the ESB is on 34th and 5th, about a 10-15 minute walk). The train ride in will take about 25 minutes.

On the way back to the airport, be sure that the board says _EWR,_ otherwise you won_t be stopping at the airport. Be sure to buy your tickets before your board, otherwise you_ll be charged an additional $5 fee on the train.

and go to _trip/ itinerary planner_ type in your points (newark airport and empire state building) and it will give you directions on how to get there using mass transit. Probably take you an hour. Or you could grab a cab if you want to spend the money, it might take a half hour up to an hour depending on traffic.

  • 18 miles
    33 minutes
    (each way)

  • It_s very close. You can see it from the airport. Best way, just take a taxi.
