What area very close to times square in new york can I stay at to get cheaper hotel rates?|130121

I would like to the area to still be nice, very lively, and just as active as New York City TImes Square. The rates are SOOOOO expensive in Times Square.

  • You could try the Penn Hotel on 34th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. They_re still expensive but cheap compared to the places around Times Square. Also Chelsea hotels are less expensive than Times Square. If 100 dollars a night sounds like too much, try Astoria, Queens, it_s right on the other side of the East River and a short commute into Manhattan.

  • Go to the Bronx..
  • How would we get to Manhattan from LGA using Public Transportation?|105004

We are arriving at LGA in the morning and were wondering whether it would be better to take the subway or the bus into the city. From there we would want to go to the Marriott downtown which is located at 85 West Street, New York City, NY 10006. I_m wondering which trains and buses I should take and whether buying an unlimited metrocard would cover travel between the airport and all the neighborhoods.

  • Personally I would take the M-60 bus to the Astoria Blvd stop in Queens and then go upstairs and catch the downtown W to Rector St
    Why?
    1) Astoria Blvd is the second stop on the N/W line which means that regardless of hour you are guaranteed to get a seat
    2) By getting off the M-60 in Queens it saves you the trip over the Triboro Bridge into Manhattan
    3) Rector and Trinity is one block closer to your destination than Wall _ Bwy is
4)If you_re hungry the Neptune Diner which is basically under the Astoria Blvd subway stop is a good place to get a bite to eat
As far as unlimited MetroCards go Yes by all means get one b/c they offer an incredible value if you intend to explore this city at all
    Just so you know :
The Hudson Newsstands in LGA sell $4.50 MetroCards ,they have locations upstairs and in the gate areas _So make sure that you have a MetroCard in your possession before heading downstairs to catch the M-60
NYC buses also take CHANGE But not bills So tossing a roll of quarters in your luggage isn_t a bad idea
    $2.25 buys you 1 ride+1 transfer
    Enjoy NYC

  • The unlimited card is a great idea. There are a number of buses at LaGuardia that connect with the Subway. Best way I can see is to take the Q33 Bus at the airport to 74th St-Broadway. Take the Subway there. Get on the E line and go Chambers St/World Trade Center. (It_s the last stop.) Get off and walk a block west on Chambers St. to West Broadway. Take the M20 Bus on Chambers St. Take it to South End Ave and Rector St and walk a block east to the Hotel on West St. Even though it is not a long way, you really need to take the M20 bus. The M22 bus does not go there. There is a lot of traffic in this area and some of it is restricted due to the proximity to ground zero.

  • Metrocard is always a good idea and works out to $4 per day for a ($27) 7-day card.

Unfortunately, the Marriott at 85 West Street does not provide shuttle service.

The W, R, 1, 4 and 5 are trains that stop nearby the Marriott so from the airport, you could take the M60 Bus and transfer to the 4 train at 125 Street/Lexington Station and ride the 4 train to the Wall Street Station where you can then exit and have a short walk to the hotel.

  • Yes buying an unlimited metro card would do the trick, you can take the m60 bus into Manhattan directly from LGA, the E train will take you right into the World Trade Center site, which is quite close to West street, and the Marriott should be visible from there. I would recommend buying a weekly or longer metro card depending on how long you are staying. It comes in quite handy in NYC.

  • Do you really want to drag your luggage on a bus or train, and then through the streets of Manhattan? You can take a taxi from LaGuardia into midtown Manhattan for $25. It_s worth every penny.

  • take the ny airport service bus, they have a special
    http://www.nyairportservice.com/

  • Maybe you can take B60(?) bus to Manhattan you should check it again in the bus map

  • Purchase the unlimited ride MetroCard, you will save a lot of money riding the subway and subway system in the city. I highly recommend it.

The unlimited ride card ranges from $8.25 for the 1-day pass, to $89 for a 30-day pass. However, if you_re staying in town for a week or two, I would recommend purchasing a 7-day or 14-day unlimited ride MetroCard. The 7-day unlimited ride card will cost you $27 and the 14-day card will cost $51.50 per person.

Please note, the unlimited ride card can not be shared, it has to be purchased individually.

In regards to how to get from LGA to 85 West Street in Lower Manhattan, here are the travel directions.

Step 1: after purchase your unlimited ride MetroCard, take the take the M60 bus from the airport to the Astoria Blvd subway station.

Step 2: at the Astoria Blvd subway station, transfer to the Manhattan-bound (westbound) _W_ subway lines (Yellow Line on the subway map). Take the _W_ train from Astoria Blvd to Rector Street. The transfer between the bus and the subway at the Astoria Blvd subway station is free.

Step 3: at Rector Street, exit the subway and following the walking direction at the link below.

Please note, _W_ train only operates during the week (Mondays to Friday). If you_re traveling on the weekends, you will need to take _N_ train to Rector Street.

I hope this information is very helpful.

    Good luck happy holidays

  • How can I get Broadway tickets for a cheap price?|102914

I want to go see Avenue Q on Broadway in NYC. I just went on the site to see the price for the tickets, and they are like over $100 a seat. I was wondering if thats the cheapest price, or can, it go cheaper then that? If it can, let me know how to get it. Thanks!

  • There are sites that offer broadway discounts to some shows.

    www.theatermania.com
    www.broadwaybox.com

This site offers theater discounts and parking discounts:

    http://www.seasonofsavings.com/

This site is just for parking:
    http://www.iconparking.com/

  • There are a lot of online clubs you can join for free that will give you discounts on Broadway tickets. Also, if you go the day of the show you can get tickets for about 50 bucks, but there is no garentee that there will be tickets still.

  • I_ve found a two-step approach to be efficient for getting half price tickets without having to stand on line to TKTS. The website I_ve used is http://www.broadwayoffers.com. You have to put in a _promotional code_ but those things are available all over the Internet. Just google the show you want to see and _broadwayoffers.com_ and chances are you_ll find a code. Then just pick up the (half price) tickets at the theater.

  • Defintely check out these websites for discount tickets. Print out the page and take it to the box office, or order them in advance.

  • go queue up at TKTS booth. you can get 50% discount. the Q is long, so be prepared.

  • stubhub.com

  • That_s an awesome musical!!!!!!!!! If you sit in the rear mezzanine, it_s around $50 per ticket. But a cheaper way is the TKTS booth. The tickedts can be 50% off.
