What age is good for kids to go to Disney world?|137289

I have a 2 year old ( will be 3 by the time we go) and a 6 year old (will be 7 by the time we go). I know that we will go twice before the kids get two old. I want my oldest one to enjoy Disney as a child. Kids grow up so fast. I wanted to know if anyone had a similar situation with smaller children and what was your sechedule like while you were there.

  • My two older boys both went for the first time when they were 3 years old and it was great! They couldn_t do the big rides, but there was so much for them to do that it didn_t matter. The look on their faces when they saw the castle and mickey for the first time was so great!
On our last trip, my youngest was only 11 months and my middle son had just turned 7. He had a blast! He rode everything, he loved the characters, he was so into it!
I think that your kids will have a wonderful time at those ages.
We used an itinerary and touring plans service for our trips called Custom Mouse Plans. It made everything so much better. There was no arguing about going on which ride when because it was all there in black and white. All the kids knew that they would get to do what they wanted because it was on the touring plans. Also, they helped us avoid lines, which really helped us avoid meltdowns! We didn_t wait more than 10 minutes for any ride. And, they worked in nap/pool time for us to relax. I will never go to Disney without them again!
    Have fun with your kids!

  • 5 is perfect they can go on everything and they remember it vividly~~~~~~~~~~

  • At 3 the Magic Kingdom may still have the toddlers section, but either child will have to either be escorted, or meet a height requirement for many rides. Plus you should plan _2_ strollers, as even a 7 year old might balk at miles of walking and you_ll have to move around slowly in any case.

I think the notion that they grow up to fast, discounts that at age 3 they will unlikely archive every memory for a lifetime, and probably appreciate the parks more at an older age.

Taking a 3 year old may mean that one parent will not get to ride, while watching the toddler.

For anyone, child or adult, Early as you can go is my advice.

    Just my two _sense_

  • I think you should go as often as you can, there is no memory more special to a child.

  • i would say 3+ once there teenagers they might not like as much but most pep still like 50+ its great for everbody

  • You_ve got the right mindset. You already know that you_ll have to go again when they are a little bit older.

If you ask me, you need to go when they are really little fo you - so that you can experience the magic through their eyes and also to see their faces when they see Mickey for the first time - it is absolutley priceless! Just go at their pace - don_t push too much, enjoy the little things!

Have a wonderful time! (We are taking our fourth son for his first trip in December - can_t wait!)

  • I have 2 children and they have both been many times. My son, who is turning 9 in 3 weeks, went at 8 months for his 1st trip. My daughter, who is now 5 1/2 was there at 7 months for her 1st trip. They loved it then and every time since then.

We don_t get hopper passes because our son is on the Autistic spectrum and doesn_t like going to more than 1 park per day. He also doesn_t like leaving the park during the day for any reason. Since we have been many times (my son-8 times, and daughter-4), we just go slow because we know what we want to do.

What you can do with your 6 year old, is look at maps online or on the disney site at the ride descriptions and ask if he/she would like that. Then you can gear some of your trip around what they would like and they feel like they helped plan some of the trip. We did that with ours for our trip this past August and they loved it. Everytime we went on a ride, they said, _this was one of my picks_ or _ oh, this was mom_s pick_ and such. They remembered it because they had a say in the planning (as much as we wanted them to have). And now they are trying to help with our trip that is coming up for Christmas _08.

Good luck with your plans, they will love it. Just one bit of other advise. Plan, yes. But don_t get so wrapped up in it that you get stressed and not enjoy it. It can happen especcially at WDW with so much to do.

We also always do 6 day passes. 2 MK days, 2 EPCOT, 1 AK, and 1 Studios. That_s how the kids (and us adults) like it, but yours can be so different. To each their own.

  • any age is great for disney , but 3and 7 sound ideal ages for their imaginations to run riot , they will love everything about the place , its brilliant .

  • I think the 3 yearold is to young. The 7yo will be fine. The best park for both will be magic kingdom. They have little kid sections.
