Where is there a hotel close to decent surf in hawaii?|197421

i_m planning a trip to hawaii for my 21st birthday in january and am taking about 10 friends with me there surfing experience is all different from just starting out to surfing the giants. is there any place (preferably with sandy beaches) that is also close to night clubs and bars? preferably a resort on the beach.

  • In January, the surf is on the north shore, so that means the Turtle Bay Resort. It is the hotel that was used in the recent film _Leaving Sarah Marshall_. There is not much night life on the north shore though. You might need to break up your vacation _ spend a few nights at Turtle Bay _ a few nights in Waikiki. But any novice surfers need to be very cautious about surfing on the north shore in January. They might be better off in Waikiki.

  • During winter (Nov - March) the waves break on the North Shore _ get really big but you can always find some place with smaller waves away from the North Shore swell. Kaanapali Beach or Ritz Carlton Kapalua or Kapalua Bay Hotel _ Villas (hotels _ condos)

  • If you go to Oahu stay at the Turtle Bay Resort

on the North Shore; there are huge waves on the North Shore. Small waves can be found on Waikiki and there are tons of hotels on Waikiki. And there is alot of nightlife.

  • Why not find one near North Shore on Oahu, where the surfing is great?

  • which island are you going to?
  • What subway do I take to get from Penn Station to the Hotel Pennsylvania?|170465

What subway do I take to get from Penn Station to the Hotel Pennsylvania? This is my third time to NYC and I am still unsure of how to read a subway map.

  • Hotel Pennsylvania is directly across 7th Avenue from Penn Station.

That_s the side of the station where the 1, 2, and 3 subway lines are, by the way. The A, C, and E lines are on the 8th Avenue side.

  • Walk out the Seventh Avenue exit of Penn Station (pass the Duane Reade on your left). At the top of the stairs, look directly across the street. That would be the Hotel Pennsylvania.

  • they_re across the street from each other, they were built, owned, and named after the same thing, the Pennsylvania Railroad.

  • My friend, the hotel is right across the street from Penn Station. Its just a simple two minute walk.

    Good luck

  • They have exactly the same stop.

  • You dont. You just walk down the street on 7th Ave.

  • They_re on the same block. Good luck!
  • What is the best way (pricewise)to book a family vacation to disney world for 14 people?|181856

I am looking to book a trip for 14 to disney world fl. and I would liketo have a comfortable condo at a reasonable price. Also if there are any sugestions for park tickets that would save me money.

  • How fun!!!

Go thru disney. They will have deals for _good neighbor_ hotels that include park hopper tickets.

Check disney.com or call a travel agent. If you buy tickets and a place to stay seperately, it will more pricey.

  • don_t go

  • Get discounted park tickets through one of these legitimate vendors:

    Disney Store
    AAA (membership required)
Costco or Sam_s Club (Membership required)

My husband and I own a timeshare and sometimes stay at Fantasyworld Vacation Villas in Kissimmee. They are very nice. You can also look into the Best Western Lakeside - which is a wonderful resort with ajoining rooms.

    Have a great time!

  • I don_t know if you ever heard of Coastal but they have some great vacation packages that you can purchase once and can use it for the rest of your life. these are 15,000.00$ and upwards packages for pennies on the dollar. You don_t have to sell these packages to own one. Here is the website you can check out
    http://www.shahansdestinations.com
. It is a home based biz site but go on check out the packages(which are cheaper when purchased as just a package), then call the 1-800# and give them the ID code 7973LS and tell them you are interested in a package only not the biz or you can buzz me at 1-866-562-1967. Hope you find what your looking for and GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!!! (If you check out the site, it is a biz site and you start receiving emails just subscribe)

  • Traveling with 14 people, you may want to take a look at renting a vacation home instead of a condo. You may want to consider renting one of the homes with 5+ bedrooms. If you want to split up your travel group then you may want to consider renting two 4 bedroom homes. You may also qualify for additional discounts by using the _group travel_ method.

  • I am doing the same thing this year but we have 17 people going. The cheapest way is going to be to rent a villa. The best site I have found is www.VRBO.com. They have tons of homes. You are probably going to need a 6 or 7 bedroom yourself - it depends on how the families are divided. They are running anywhere from 1800 up to 3000 for the off season. Check them out.

  • The best way for you to go to Disney World with 14 people is to camp there and for you to drive there from where every you are right now and you you to go at the beginning of spring and end of winter. Also get park passes before you go there so you don_t have to pay for them there. If you say on property you will get to go to a park early (early hours) and leave later then everyone else. I hope this helps.

  • its going to be EXPENSIVE no matter which method you use. For all those things, you would have to book direct with disney.com possibly

  • here is the site for affordable disney vacations

  • Is Wisconsin a decent place to live if ur gay?|120035

I_ve heard many positive things about Madison. I am in Ohio now and thinking of putting in for a transfer at work to Windsor Wisconsin(near Madison). Overall I would think it can_t be any worse then Ohio or Michigan.

  • Madison isn_t bad but much of the rest of the state sucks. Lots of bigots there sadly and oh yes very stupid people it seems. I lived in Mich my whole life and it s better that slohio and Wisc. believe me. Try A2 or Royal Oak or Ferndale Mich. All great places!

  • excuse me, sharonlynnvn I live here and I think Its beautiful here and I think that anywhere else would be horrible to live. especially where u live (i_m not talking about u bs 2008

  • Madison is amazing - don_t even consider the Fox Valley (Green Bay/ Appleton). Very conservative!

  • I dont know about wisconsin but when i was in San Diego, it was awesome, there were a lot of gay people, and the people that werent seemed very accepting and it was pretty much the norm. I know this probablly doesnt help at all since it has nothing to do with WI, lol but i just thought id throw it out there.. i loved san diego :)

  • Just a shout out to Michigan. Ann Arbor has a very liberal progressive community that openly accepts gays and lesbians. In fact, the majority of Southeast Michigan population ranges from accepting to tolerant of gays and lesbians. Please don_t stereotype the Midwest.

  • Madison is probably the most open and friendly city in the state. You_ll love it.

Cool local music scene, very arty people, and the massive university sure helps too.

Here_s a link to the free weekly paper...

    http://www.thedailypage.com/isthmus/

  • Madison is the most gay-friendly city in Wisconsin. I live here, and although I_m not gay, I think you_d love it. Plenty of culture, yet very safe city.

  • Madison is a great place to live. My brother is gay and he loves it. He says it_s very accepting and it_s a lot of fun. Best of luck.

  • Most of Wisconsin is extremely conservative in its attitude toward gays. The exeptions are Madison and La Crosse. Its no suprise that they are both college towns and are very accepting.

  • I would say that in Madison or most other larger cities not an issue - small town Wisconsin - may be a different reaction all together.

  • nope no queers in wisconsin move to cali anything goes there lol

  • I live in Wisconsin :]
    Move here. It_s lovely.

  • San Francisco is!

  • Why would your sexuality have to do with where you live?

  • I think anywhere you go, people will judge you for your actions. Sorry, but our world is full of closed-minded people :(
  • Any Florida residence that can tell me the best time to visit?|131132

My family and I are planning a trip to Orlando next year, around September October, and we are trying to find out when the crowds aren_t so hefty. We will be traveling with 2 small children and anyone out there with children know that kids don_t do well when the have to wait 3 hours to get on 1 ride. Thanks ahead of time to all who answer.

  • February, End of September, Early October. These are the best times to visit b/c (1) Less crowded and (2) Weather is nice. I know from experience b/c I have been going to Disney for many many years now. I have the seasons pass to Disney so I can go any time of year that I want...but I still go those times b/c all the other months there are way too many people and it is also too hot. You can sometimes get away with going at the beginning of December right after THanksgiving but before Hannakah and Christmas.
Also, you can use your tickets to put into the fast pass machine. If you_ve never used fast pass, it is a machine that gives you a ticket to go on a certain ride at a certain time.

Example....lets say you want to take the kids on Snow White and Peter Pan....Get a fast pass for Peter Pan, it will tell you the time to come back to Peter Pan. In the meanwhile you can go on Snow White and then come back to Peter Pan with the fass pass and have less wait time to get on the ride. You don_t wait in the regular line if you have a fast pass.

  • From working over a year in tickets at a theme park id have to say early-mid june. the parks are open extended hours, the good kids in florida schools are working (the rest are in summer school) and the rest of the nations schools have not let out yet.

  • Beginning or end of November are nice, beginning of December, beginning of January and last 3 weeks of Sept are all _quiet_ meaning not a lot of lines at the Disney parks, not a lot of children but still the same great service.

  • if your looking between those two months I would go for late september early october too. Also, go during the week.
That way your safer (in both cases) that kids are in school so theres less of a crowd.

  • September and October are the best times to visit. This is the time that the kids are back in school and the parks are less crowded.

  • The week after Labor Day is usually pretty slow. Although it is still a little crowded at the theme parks but you can ride the rides on and off pretty quickly.

Usually Orlando doesn_t have any downtime. A lot of people more often think in the same wavelength.. so during the slow months, it could be busy also.

Since you_re planning your vacation around Sept or Oct, you_re off to a good start. There aren_t anything much going on September but Disney has Halloween party every October.

  • in sectember belive me its the best!

  • If you have children, the absolute best time is actually late September/ Early October. The Weather is still awesome and the because everybody has just started school the crowds are very low... Enjoy!

  • january through febuary
come to central florida best time to come

  • January - Feb and Sept - October

These are wonderful times to visit!

  • I work in one of the theme parks and the best advice I can give you is to come after Labor Day but before October. Unless you_re really into Halloween, October is pretty much a continuous Halloween party at the parks, attracting alot of locals. If you come in the last couple of weeks of September, the parks are usually slower. It will still be hot (depending on where you_re coming from and what you_re used to) but it_s not too bad.

If I could tell people to come any time I would say January/February. It_s not hot and it_s very slow. Hope you have fun!

  • in the fall when kids are in the school and parents work. because on the winter and summer breaks it is packed with people
