NYC: How long will it take to get from Grand Central to the Ferry Terminal?|109923

I_m going to NYC for the first time ever in a bit and am taking a train that arrives at GCT around 8:30. I was planning on going straight from there to the Ferry Terminal in Battery Park. How hard is it to get a taxi outside of GCT?, How long is the average cab ride from GCT to the Ferry Terminal and what would be the approximate charge?

It was the Friday after Thanksgiving in 1997. My wife _ I, and the 2 daughters, walked out of FAO Schwarz, on the corner of 5th Ave. _ 58th St. around 6:00 P.M. and had a 6:30 dinner reservation to meet her brother_s family in Little Italy. I told the cab driver there was an additional $20 in it for him, if he could get us there around then.

We were taken on a thrill ride that would rival anything any of us had ever been on...at any amusement park we had ever been to! We went over a sidewalk, through a red light, around other vehicles that I felt I could touch if I just put my finger out the window one inch and at speeds at times that made us feel we were in a movie.

I found it amazing what an extra $20 could do...and my wife threaten to shoot me if I ever did that again.

We arrived in front of Ferrara_s Cafe at 6:35 on the dot!

My friend, the trip from Grand Central to Staten Island Ferry Terminal will takes about 20 minutes. Take the downtown (southbound) #4 or 5 express train (Green Line on the subway map) from Grand Central to Bowling Green.

Once you get to Bowling Green, exit subway at the south end of the station and walk south along Broadway from the station to Ferry Terminal.

I visited Gettyburg with my class this past week and we climbed an 8-story tower near the battlefield. What is it called?

The park service constructed a number of towers on the battlefield near the end of the 19th century. It certainly wasn_t the National Tower you saw because in 2000, the Gettysburg National Tower, built in 1974, was imploded.

_An observation tower overlooking the Gettysburg battlefield was demolished Monday by the Interior Department in a major step toward restoring the site to the way it looked during the Civil War._

The 307-foot National Tower at Gettysburg was dubbed an _eyesore_ by Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt, who was on hand late Monday for the toppling, accomplished with just a few pounds of explosives.

Makes no difference what it was called, it_s just not there anymore!! Consequently it could not have been the one that is being ask about.

when i was there they called it the battle field tower.

I think its the National Tower constructed under the Gettysburg National Military Park Survey.

It will probably cost him 10-15 cents a txt if he did not order any txt package from his cell provider.

Where are the best places to meet female friends in san diego?|158615

Im in my 20s and looking for female friends. where are the best places to look?I. I have read things about the clubs out in san diego to meet friends there. This is a new concept to me. Im not even much of a clubber. These must be some upscale clubs cause at the clubs where Im from the females are usually petty and envious. and are only there to look for guys. I wouldnt think twice of meeting female friends at a club, where im from. but if there is somewhere in san diego, I should be please let me know. it doesnt have to be a club, other suggestions would help. Im a woman of color and I welcome all races as long as they arent drama, uptight, petty, or a backstabber.

I would suggest taking some classes in areas that interest you.....yoga, tennis, etc....that is a great way to meet fun people! Also-the Reader probably has other types of local clubs-ie book clubs, cooking clubs, etc that might be interesting!

if clubs aren_t your thing, check out a lounge (I like Visions restaurant _ lounge in the Gaslamp). this might be a more ideal place to meet female friends. also, try classes at the gym.

What are some nice, fairly affordable hotels within walking distance of South Station in Boston?|130635

My buddy and I are going to be in Boston for just one night next month and need to stay pretty close to South Station. We_d like it to be someplace fairly nice, but not too outrageously expensive. Maybe around $200.00, max. Any suggestions?

Motel 6 is very affordable.

Try Westin Water front. I booked them through priceline.com. I put a bid for $150 and they accepted. I got a room with two queen beds. Pretty cool. And it is walking distance from the South Station and it_s a 4 star hotel. It_s new so you can get lucky.

No Holiday Inn or Motel 6 near South Station.

The hotels that do exist are all luxury. Try Priceline.com, otherwise you_ll have to stay someplace else. But Boston_s public transit is very good so you probably do not need to be so close to South Station in the first place.

Try the Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express in East Cambridge near Lechmere.

I just came from the post office in Henderson. and it is around 2 pm. It is being sent to Henderson jail. I hear it is anywhere from 1-5 days ? (hopefully closer to 1!) please let me know. thank you.

its my experience that it takes one day-two at most

In my town it takes 1 day to go 100mi. away and another day 2 come back!

First it has to go to Tyler, then it goes back to Henderson, so you might get it in 3 days.
