What are some really good Vintage Stores in San Francisco?|164783

I am going to San Francisco soon and I want to go look for some really good vintage clothes but I don_t know of any good vintage stores there. Would any one recommend any good vintage stores?

  • If you are not adverse to paying a lot for vintage fashion check out Torso on Sutter at Grant. All clothes in A-1 shape and style with correspondingly high prices.

Suggestions for the more budget shopper:
Valencia Street C From 15th to 22nd. This is the Latin heart of the city with a lot of home stores, chic boutiques, and funky vintage stores. Also great Mexican food along this route. One of the best shops for vintage is Clothes Contact on Valencia between 15th and 16th, fashion by the pound!

Upper Fillmore C From Geary to Jackson a wide range of boutiques, furniture stores, good restaurants and some unique consignment stores, and one of the most fabulous hat shops Ive ever seen. And believe me, after collecting for 20 years, this gal knows hats!

Haight Asbury C Yes the famous summer of love lives on here. Funky shops, vintage stores, a few chain stores and the most eclectic street scene you ever encounter.

  • Try going to Haight and Ashbury. Those shop are as vintage as you can get
  • Whats there to do in Reno? Are there any cool bars independent of the casinos?|148925

I realize it_s Reno and that_s what they_re known for but if I can I_d like to see the real Reno. Or I_m kidding myself and the casinos are the real Reno. Restaurant recommendations are also greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help in advance and I_ll gladly reciprocate when anyone needs info on South Florida.

  • well, I lived in Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Las Vegas- LT and CC are very close to Reno and I still have lots of friends in Reno... that being said, as much as there ARE _local_ bars and restaurants, loads of locals also hang out at the casinos for a meal or some music and drinks. I always did because I always had musician friends playing at one casino or another. When you get there, ask a couple of bartenders at the casinos where THEY go to hang out and which the best oout of casino bars are- they_ll be happy to tell you!
While you_re there, check out Virginia City and Lake Tahoe and maybe hng out down on the river walk. Have fun!
We_re going to FL on Saturday (from TN now)
  • What is the story at the Haunted Mansion in WDW?|149406

People say they tell you the story at the beginning of the ride, but i don_t remember it. Something about Master Gracey or the Bride and her many husbands. Anyway, i wanted to know because my friends and i want to tell ghost stories at our sleepover.

  • The mansion is Gracey Mansion however the woman who killed her husbands is not Madame Leota but rather Constance. She is the _Black Widow_. She killed each of her husbands by cutting their heads off with a hatchet. As she says in the ride, _Till Death do us part_ and _In sickness and in Wealth_. The story has changed a number of times from the conception of the attraction and really is broad enough of a story to adapt as necessary.

P.S. The tombstones out front are not the dead husbands but rather the imagineers who created the attraction. And Madame Leota is the floating head in the crystal ball. Just a little FYI.

  • The original story was very generic. More stuff has been added over the years, and it is different depending on who you ask. If you want to know a good ghost story, I would suggest going here:

This site is all about the Haunted Mansion, and they have a history of the story and how it has changed over the years and different stuff that people have made up about the story. So you_ll get lots of good ghost story info!

  • The Haunted Mansion, aka Gracie Mansion is haunted by Madame Leota, who killed all 7 of her husbands. They are burried in the front yard, and you can see their graves before entering the mansion. The ride, takes you on a story of each of their _ends_ throughout the mansion, ending in the attic where you meet Madame Leota herself. The mansion is home to 999 happy haunts now, but there is room for 1 more!

  • I just got back from Disney, and couldn_t even remember! LOL Just remember being inside and seeing paintings on the wall of the ppl who were trapped inside and it was men and women.. hmm not sure.
  • Which is best to visit in Florida during the summer?|198496

Which is the best to visit in Florida during the summer...Miami or Orlando? I was thinking Miami because of the beaches and stuff. But I_m afraid Miami might be too dangerous? Idk?

  • It depends on what you want to do. If your heart is set on going to the beach, then Orlando is out (unless you want to drive 45 min. to Daytona). Of course, if you love theme parks, then Orlando_s the place for you.

Miami Beach isn_t that dangerous. The dangerous part of Miami is away from the beach. You can have a great time in either place.
  • How far away is the statue of liberty from Manhattan?|198893

I know this sounds a crazy question, but my husband and i were discussing it earlier and i said it was a short boat ride? Am i right?!

  • It_s about a mile off of Manhattan. You can see it from land, but you can take a 15 minute ferry ride out to the actual island.

  • yes my brother went on the boat that takes you thier its about 15 to 20 minutes away

  • depending where u are in manhatten..but yes the boat ride is less than 1/2 hour right to liberty island. and it is worth the ride. that beautiful lady is one of our backbones of the USA

  • How far is Manhattan from the statue? Just across the water.

  • yes about 15 min by ferry

  • According to Wikipedia, _Liberty Island is 2000 feet (600 m) from Liberty State Park in Jersey City, New Jersey. By comparison it is 1-5/8 statute miles (2.6 kilometers) from Battery Park in Manhattan, this makes Liberty Island much closer to Jersey City, New Jersey than New York City. The island has a land area of 59,558 square meters, or 14.717 acres, according to the United States Census Bureau._ (See Liberty Island)

This shorter distance from Liberty Island to NJ is the main reason the Supreme Court just a few years ago decided that the Statue is part of Jersey, not NY.

While it is a short boat trip, the line to take that short boat trip can last a few hours--they suggest one leaves an 1.5 hours from the time they arrive in Battery Park to actually be on the boat.

If you want more info about the ferry trip,

  • you can go by car. it isnt a long ride . you will reach a place where there_s a ferry that takes you to the statue in a few minutes. when you make your visit of the small island on which the statue stands, you will take the ferry back to the bank .then take your car to your destination.

  • It is a short boat ride...you get off the subway at the bowling green station, by the water. Cost about $8...stops first at the Statue of Liberty (about a 20 min. ride) then goes on to Ellis Island, lets people off and on there, back to the Statue to pick people up then back to the shore. It_s a nice, scenic ride.
