What should I do for three weeks in USA?|105081

I am planning a trip to America for three weeks at the end of August and start of September and need some ideas for what I can do. I am flexible with where I go and have never been to the states before so need some ideas!

  • The possibilities are endless.
Three that pop into my brain:
    New York City
    Walt Disney World
    Las Vegas

  • As I have said before, first of all decide what your interests are, then prioritize them Decide whether you want to go to cities with their cultural attractions like museums, theaters, nightlife or do you prefer nature such as the seashore, rugged coastlines with fishing villages, the mountains. Then look at a decent map of of the US which shows you the mountains, the shoreline and the cities. Now focus on an area - you cannot cover and see all of the US in three weeks. Enter the area and places of your choice in a search engine like Google. After some searching, you_ll find the answer to your question.
  • What are some things to do in New York City that are very little known?|196118

We go to New York a lot and we pretty much have seen every main attraction. We_ve seen the museums, Broadway, and all the touristy spots. Are there any little known spots in any borough of the city that could provide a fun family activity?

  • You can:

Go to the Zoo in Flushing Meadows/Corona Park. Most people only care about the Bronx Zoo. In the Queens Zoo, you can see some animals, and on the other side, there is a farm where you can feed some of the animals there.

To get to that Zoo, you can take the 7 train, get off at the Willets Point/Citi Field stationm, walk to Flushing Meadows and you can follow the signs to get to the zoo.

If you like playing sports, the park on Shore Road in Bay Ridge is great. It_s huge, it has a lot of baseball fields, some basketball courts and tennis courts, and its right off the water so it_s always cooler there.

To get there, you can take the N down to 59th st, and walk west towards the water.

Or you can take the R and get off at Bay Ridge Boulevard, 77th st, 86th st or 95th st, walk west and you_ll get to the park on shore road.

Prospect Park is another cool place. You can take a nice long walk around the park. There is a zoo in the park, there is a lake where you can rent paddle boats and canoes and head out on the lake, plus there is a section of the park that has a carousel and a couple of other things.

Right next to Prospect Park, there is the Botanical Gardens and the Brooklyn Museum.

To get to Prospect Park, you can:

Take the B/Q to the 7th Avenue Station or the Prospect Park Station.

Take the F/G and get off either at the 7th Avenue station, or the 15th St.- Prospect Park station.

Or you can take the 2/3 to the Grand Army Plaza station or the Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum station.

  • Try a rooftop bar/restaurant at sunset. 230 5th comes to mind... Very memorable.

  • What is the cheapest way to move your stuff from one state to another?|195051

I_m planning on moving from Florida to Colorado in May. I_ve checked ou U-Haul, which seems to be the only company not afraid to give their prices online (because its like $2,000). Everywhere else requires you to call and get a quote. I was just wondering if anyone knows of the cheapest way to move your stuff.

  • I dont like uhaul as the news shows teh company as a whole doesnt maintain their trucks well.

  • I found that UHaul, Budget, etc. were way too pricey for my move from NY to NC. We actually used ABF...it cost about $800 and they drop off a truck at your place which you load yourself...you pay only for the amount of space in the truck that you use, which is nice. A driver then comes and picks up the truck and meets you at your new location, which you then unload. The only downfall was that the delivery day isn_t _guaranteed_. But if you can go a day or two without your furniture it_s definitely worth it. Google them, it_s a good deal.

  • Renting a Trailer and do-it-yourself is cheaper. If you don_t have something that will tow and you need a truck, that_s more. Either way 1-way rental is always pricey, and it_s too far to return it.

  • you can ask some of your friends to bring their cars or trucks..... im sure they would be happy to help

  • when we moved to las vegas, we sold all our stuff and only kept clothes and things we really needed. shipped the boxes by us mail and spent maybe $300.

  • U-Haul is the best way

  • I used U-Haul When I Moved And It Was Great I Got Like The 24 Foot One :)
  • What can you do in the city that is fun and cheap during this kind of weather in NYC?|180071

  • What is the best hotel in Las Vegas during spring break?|105562

I am searching for hotels and my daughter has a late spring break. I was wondering for opinions and ideas of good hotels. Make sure the hotel you mention has at least a casino and pool!

  • I have nothing but good things to say about The Flamingo. It is by far my favorite hotel on Las Vegas for Overall Value. Anyway here_s a review I wrote about it on Yelp.com

I_ll start off with the bad first: we came in early around noon, and were told to come back around 3 pm to get our keys. We came back at 3 pm, they said come back at 4 pm cus the room wasn_t ready. That_s okay cus technically check-in time is 4 pm. Came back at 4 pm and was told the room wouldn_t be ready for 30-45 minutes....we asked for a manager. Our room was ready in 10 minutes, and he gave us a $30 coupon to use at the bar or gift shop. So that_s decently fair.

Anyway Flamingo_s location is quite possibly the best on the strip. Right smack dab in the middle, what more could you ask for? The distance from room to elevator to the strip was real short unlike so many other casinos where it_s an absolute chore to get from your room to the strip or vice versa. And I like how when you walk out of the casino..you_re right on the sidewalk...there_s no long *** escalator/path you have to take to get to the sidewalk. I mean wow.

We also liked the rooms considering we got the upgrade Go! Rooms that are newly remodeled, and look nothing like the outside of the casino (which is starting to show it_s age pretty badly). The beds were big, clean, and comfy. Huge *** 42_ LCD TV, a TV in the bathroom mirror, a separate shower and tub. The shower also had some body jets which was nice. No problems with the water temp. or pressure. I_m used to staying in standard rooms or Vegas or even sh*t holes like Tropicana...this was anything but that.

Service: I didn_t like how they couldn_t guarantee my dry cleaning would get to me in the 6-8 pm slot that it said on the bag, but it did arrive on time. The cleaning ladies did a decent job, and didn_t steal anything so that_s also good. And when we called for our bags, extra glasses, and hangers..they were quickly brought up (very quickly)..that_s good.

Casino: The theme is losing it_s touch, but it_s still decently nice inside. It_s not Bellagio, it_s not O_Sheas either. Drinks take a little while to get to you, but I think I was up a couple hundred in this casino, and my buddy won $2,000 w/the lucky lady jackpot on the blackjack table...plus they had $5 and $10 tables during busy times..that works for me.

Pool: Really nice, I came a little late so no staff or bar was to be found...but I_m sure in the hotter days it_d be excellent.

View: my two rooms had amazing views. One had a good view of the pool, and the other had amazing view of the Bellagio fountains.

Price: I originally booked the Go! rooms directly through Flamingo for $590 each plus tax for Friday _ sat night. Then I cancelled and rebooked them for $610...why you may ask. Because I found a cheaper rate of $540 on Orbitz. Due to their Best Rate Guarantee..they not only matched the cheaper rate, but they dropped it 25%. Our rooms now were a little under $400 for the weekend per room. Sounds like a great deal to me.

Overall: Other a few slight quirks here and there. I can_t give Flamingo any less than 5 stars. I_m sure it_d be different if we paid more and/or were stuck with a standard room. But considering of our group we paid $100 each for the room here, compared to the $70 each at Tropicana or $90 each for Bally_s. I definitely will say Flamingo was well-worth the little extra money for the room quality and strip location. I_d highly recommend Flamingo_s Go! Rooms to anyone who wants a great value on the strip.

p.s. Other suggestions: Ballys for the same price range. also affordable, great locaiton, clean. Stay away from Tropicana it_s garbage.

    anyway great websites:
www.yelp.com - real reviews by real people
www.cheapovegas.com - critics reviews but gives reviews on the casinos, their service, clientele, rooms, pool, etc.

  • You can search and choose hotel information, rates and availability for free in over 200 countries world wide at my profile.

  • Las Vegas is not a big Spring Break town, in my experience.....

  • Check out the Circus Circus has a few nightclubs in it and centrally located. Also the MGM Grand is nice, good location and has some clubs in it.

  • the mirage or circus circus

  • mgm

  • the palms, hands down. it_s directed towards the younger crowd. the decor, music they play in the casino, their pool, the new sunset tan, and playboy tower says it all.
