What area very close to times square in new york can I stay at to get cheaper hotel rates?|110889

I would like to the area to still be nice, very lively, and just as active as New York City TImes Square. The rates are SOOOOO expensive in Times Square.

  • You could try the Penn Hotel on 34th Street between 7th and 8th Avenues. They_re still expensive but cheap compared to the places around Times Square. Also Chelsea hotels are less expensive than Times Square. If 100 dollars a night sounds like too much, try Astoria, Queens, it_s right on the other side of the East River and a short commute into Manhattan.

  • Go to the Bronx..
  • How busy are Florida theme parks in April compare to September?|121987

We tend to go to Florida in September as it is good weather and the theme parks are quiet - how does Aprial (after Easter weekend) compare?

Are the parks quite busy at that time of year or are we better waiting till September??

  • From Feb- July/August is out busy season and Things will be packed in April... September is a slower month and kicks off our slow season since kids are starting school again.

  • Theme parks are much, much more crowded during the springtime/school break times compared to September, when the kids are back in school.

Remember, not every school district has spring break at the same time, but almost everyone_s kids are off school the week after Easter.

Reservations are tough to get and more expensive, and waiting times for rides and restaurants are outlandish. Still, the kids don_t have to miss school, and if you keep a good attitude, and don_t expect to get as much done each day, it can be a lot of fun.

  • In September the crowd levels are so low, it_s a great time to go. It_s a drastic difference from going in April. In April you could wait up to 2 hours to ride a popular ride. When we went in September the longest we waited for anything was for 20 minutes once. Every other time was 5-10 minutes, if that.

We went at the end of September and the weather was perfect. We were never too hot or too cold and it only drizzled once one morning for 10 minutes and that was it. In April it will be very hot but there is also a low percentage of rainfall in April too.

  • My best guess would be that September would have less of a crowd, due to the beginning of school. The closer you get to summer, the more chance you have of getting bombed by a crowd.

I_ve been to Disney World quite a few times, and that_s the way I_ve always seen it.

  • I have been there in September and in April. If you go at the beginning of September or at the end of April you shouldn_t have any trouble with the lines. Just remember to avoid the Easter Holiday and Labor Day Weekend.

  • hey, I_m goin to Florida in April and i went last year, and although i_ve never been there in september, april has got to be the nicest place to be....it was never too crowded, just right.

  • i would stay away from april---many schools here in NY either have spring break or their Senior Trip Sept--truly is best!!

  • they will probably be fairly busy since most schools have spring break in fl during that time

  • bepends on the temp
  • What is the cheapest limo service from Orlando Sanford to Disney Resorts?|134401

I_m going to disney soon and want to rent a round trip limo for our trip for the trip. It_s for my honeymoon so I want everything to be really nice, and was hoping someone could give a good recommendation for a particular service.

  • Check these out:

    http://www.orlandosanfordairport.com/tax

    http://www.orlandocarriers.com/home.html

The first site is a link to Orlando/Sanford International Airport_s transportation arrangement page (non-rental). They have a list of different transportation companies they contract with which includes limo services.

The second site is the site I will probably be using to schedule transportation from Orlando/Sanford. They are one of the contract members of the airport, and they have several transportation methods including limos, all of which travel to Disney World Resort and many other places in the Orlando/Kissimmee area. Their prices are for one-way OR round-trip. Good luck with the wedding!! :)

  • i don_t know if it_s the cheapest in orlando, but heres a limo service in orlando.

What would be the best way to travel to Philadelphia from Wilmington, DE?|120920

Hello, I am wanting to get to Philadelphia (May 18) from Wilmington, DE. I do not have a car, and I cannot afford a train. Does anyone know of a way to get there and back and not spend a large sum of money? Thankyou.

  • Take the R2 septa train to the Wilmington train station (same as Amtrak station).

  • You will need to take the train. Its on $9. Cheaper than driving. If you do not have $9 than you should turn off the computer and figure out how to make some money

Ok some of my friends and I are planning on going to florida for spring break but cant make up are mind where we will be staying. We are in high school are senior year and we just want to have some fun because its our last spring break in high school. If you go to Orlando there_s plenty of theme parks (universal studio_s, island of adventure)! I would definetly recommend the South Beach area in Miami as the best!

How can we do to travel to Texas from California?|107034

We would prefer not to fly(too expensive) and we also do not want to ride in a car or train because that gets uncomfortable. I was thinking that if we can be comfortable on the road, we will ride in a car or something. There are three of us(14, 16, 16) and we are departuring from Los Angeles, CA going to El Paso, TX. We don_t want to spend too much because we aren_t rich(well, our parents aren_t) and we are going to see our dad. What can we do to get there safely, budget-friendly and comfortably?

  • Southwest Airlines will have special deals from LAX to El Paso. You need to know when you will be flying and keep checking those dates.

There are other airlines that probably fly this route---ask your parents to keep track of the rates. They can check travelocity.com or ask a travel agent to shop for your tickets.

Start trying to save your money--babysit, wash cars, do lawn work, whatever you can do to get extra cash.

Flying is probably the safest way for your to make your journey. Good luck, I hope you can find bargain fares.

  • ok flying is out, you don_t want to ride in a car or a train.

    not old enough to drive.

that leaves bus, ship or walking.

    ship won_t work.

so it is either the bus or walking.

    try hitch-hiking then

read your question, you are not making sense at all
  • What is the best lake for wakeboarding in Utah?|108101

  • What is the best beach to visit in southern California in December/January?|117253

We are from Alberta and are visiting California for a day while were in Las Vegas. Were looking for a nice beach to visit (not necessarily swim) while were there. Nothing too crowded and preferably not too far from Vegas. Thanks!

  • Any beach in So Cal will be at least 280 miles / 450 Km. or more from Las Vegas. Most beaches won_t be very crowded because (to us) it_s too cold, and windy there during December and January. I guess being from Alberta you_ll think it_s bikini weather. Pick anywhere from San Clemente in Orange County, to Malibu in Los Angeles County.

  • Venice Beach Santa monica or Malibu

  • Zuma Beach in Malibu, Will Rogers, Santa Monica Pier.

  • How hard is it to get into a club in vegas?|123277

my sis is having her bachelorette party in vegas and lucky me is the only one who isn_t 21 but i really wanna go. I can most likely borrow someones id that somewhat looks like me. So it would be a real id jus not me. I am not planning on using it to gamble or anything jus wanna get into the clubs. Has anyone tried doing this in vegas? Do you think it will work?

  • yeah it will work! just make sure you know everything on the ID. one crazy question is: what is your Initials? dress up, 4 lbs of make up high hills, short dress, and be very out going!!! my friend, she did this for a year in vegas, it works! if you a dude good luck!

  • yeah shouldnt be that big of a deal. If someone boots you, just try another club. There are obviously like thousands of clubs to go to. I went to vegas for 4 days and never got carded once. Im 26 but look younger. You should be fine.

  • yes if u make sure 2 go in a big group at a busy hour they will just ask 4 as many ids as ppl in ur party n of course wear plenty of makeup as an excuse 2 any differences in ur id if it may possibly come up

  • If you throw some money here and there, you can try...not promising anything...if you_re looking for suggestions on clubs though, definitely give Moon and Ghostbar a go!

  • It could work but IF you are caught the entire group will be 86_d (kicked out). They check each and every ID for anyone under 25.

BTW they will take the ID, too
  • What train leaves grand rapids michigan and goes to Union Station in chicago illinois?|194621

  • What is there to do in the Bethlehem, PA area other than your normal tourist type things?|104253

I am visiting there on during the week of July 4th with my husband and 17 month old son. There_s only so much family time we can take before we have to escape and do something a bit more fun! So far, I_ve founds a zoo that we can take our son to, and a white water rafting trip my husband and I can take. Also, a winery that might have a tour available. Anything else?

  • There are some Amish things in the area, that are touristy, but give you a picture of life in that area.

  • There_s always bowling. An excellent lane is Jordan Lane on Rt 145 just south of Rt 22 (If you_re travelling south, make a right by Dunkin Doughnuts) You can_t miss it.
There_s also whitewater rafting on Rt 903 in Jim Thorpe or antique shops and train rides in town on the weekend.

  • Here_ s what I do. Look in the local newspapers for a block party, usually for a good cause like a volunteer fire co. , and you will have tons of fun. Great to take kids too. Also, post this question or search at the website below.

  • I grew up in Easton and when i lived there, there was a celebration downtown for the 4th called Heritage week with all kinds of things going on and a very good fireworks display. The Crayola Visitors center is downtown and a mile from Lafayette University with is beautiful. Bethlehem itself is kinda blah (except at the end of August for Musikfest) but Allentown always has stuff going on--- check the city website.

  • Other than normal tourist type things can be jogging in the swimming pool, racing along with the trains, swimming in shallow rainy water, dancing with animals.

  • Dorney Park and Wild Water kingdom is a amusment park in nearby Allentown, Pa. The Crayola Crayon factory is next door in Easton, PA. Bewarned that that areas arround Bethelhem _ Easton are having some flooding issues due to this weeks heavy rains. Philly is about a hour south but crowded for the 4th.

  • I live in the Slate Belt area and work in Allentown. My kids grew up in the whole area and there_s plenty to do. I think the Heritage Festival may be canceled, due to the flooding, check the local papers.

But, here is a web site about the lehigh valley http://www.lehighvalleypa.org/ Also, one about the lehigh valley wine trail. Many of the local wineries will let you taste, very informal. Check out http://www.lehighvalleywinetrail.com/

I almost forgot about the Kutztown Folk Festival! Lots of great food, things to see and do, shopping, Amish and Mennonite info, entertainment all in one place! Check out http://www.kutztownfestival.com/

Crayola is great for the 17 mo old. There_s also the Allentown Art museum, lots of great art and a kids section to boot. Of course, Dorney Park is a must for the hot weather.

You could check out the shopping at the outlets in Reading. Vanity Fair (yes, the bra people) started the original outlets ages ago. You can_t beat their prices and they have things other than bras. Clothing for all ages, name brands, food and household stuff. Check out http://www.vffo.com/

Lancaster and the surrounding area is great too. A day trip to Longwood Gardens outside of Philly is good too. Amazing plants there and to think it was all a home for a very rich family (the Duponts) is mind boggling.

    Hope this helps a bit.

How long will it take me to drive from Orlando Florida to New Orleans, Louisiana?|136354

I_m trying to find a cheap way of getting to New Orleans, and flights are cheapest to Orlando. I know it_s about 650 miles to New Orleans from Orlando but is it an easy ride or ridiculous idea for only a week_s holiday? Thanks for your advice...

  • It takes about 12 hours to drive each way between Orlando and New Orleans. That gives you 5 full days in New Orleans, which is enough time for a decent visit. The trip is all via Interstate so it is an easy - if long - drive.

The second answer is correct and one can make the drive in 9 to 10 hours, but only if there are no traffic delays (maybe late at night) and no stops except the minimum required for fuel _ restroom (no meals).

You don_t need a car to get around in the French Quarter, Central Business District, or Warehouse District. Also, the parking regulations are Byzantine and there are lots of Parking Control Agents. If you drive or rent a car, leave it in a lot or garage unless you are traveling away from downtown.

The regional transit authority (www.norta.com) sells 1 and 3 day passes that offer unlimited use of buses and streetcars for the day(s) you select. There are also lots of taxicabs.

Hope you have a great trip!

  • My friend just did that, she drove at night and no traffic on high way, took her just over 9 hrs. She had a very nice peaceful calm drive.
  • What is it like in Century City and the West Los Angeles district like?|109398

In those areas, is it mostly a middle-class, upper middle class, or upper class in the regular housing?

How much would you have to save to live in those areas?

  • Century City is mostly commercial. There are very few homes and they are all in the $1,000,000 or over range. West LA is a little cheaper, but not much!

  • please gamer vist NYC____

  • upper middle class, many business there such as Fox, MGM, average house $800,000

  • Common Chain Stores: Best Buy, Wal-Mart, circuit city, comp usa, staples, Sam Club, office depot, ect. for Apple Mac go to Florida Mall.

thers also some small non chain store around orlando and kissimmee.

If u wanna try to buy online : tiger direct is good.

    Good Luck, and Have Fun!

  • They have pretty much every common store, like Best Buy, and Radioshack. They have an Apple store at both the Florida Mall and Mall at Millenia.

What Is The Last City Youd Want to Visit and the First in the USA?|123354

Of the ones you haven_t been to, what is the first city you_d want to visit in the US and the last?

My first would be San Francisco, I looked at some of it on Street View, its positiveley gorgeous.
My last would be Los Angeles. Too crowded, and I hear the traffic is worse then that in NYC, which is horrible!

  • Any city in Texas -- gun toting crazies.
Give it all back to Mexico.

Love to See Seattle -- moutains, ocean, never bee to that part of country.

  • I_d like to see NYC.
    Not interested in Pittsburgh, PA.

  • First to see ........... Anchorage, Alaska
Last to see ........... Brownsville, Texas

I_ve seen most of the major cities, which eliminates them.

  • last ..New Orleans tied with NYC
however, Honolulu sounds like a plan

  • i_ve been to most of the major cities in the us.
    New York
    Boston
    Phillaphedia
    Washington, DC
    Richmond
    Charlestown
    Raleigh
    Savannah
    Tampa
    Chicago
    St. Louis
    Salt lake city
    Las Vegas
    San Francisco
    Portland
    Seattle

The city i would like to go to the first would be austin, tx
The last city would be L.A.

  • I_ve driven through Chicago, but haven_t really explored it, so I_ll say I_d like to explore Chicago.

I really don_t have much interest in New Orleans.
  • What is the name of the bridge that connects you to Clearwater Beach?|104246

We drove from Orlando to Clearwater Beach, FL and went over this long bridge across the water. I was just wondering if anyone knew the name of it. Is it the seven mile bridge because it seemed to be that long?

  • A lot depends upon which highway you took. It sounds like you were on I-275 and that would be the Howard Franklin Bridge, crossing Tampa Bay. If you were on Florida 60, that could have been the Courtney Campbell Causeway across Tampa Bay. Farther West it_s the Memorial Causeway, a much shorter span. This is the very last span taking you to Clearwater Beach. Coming from the South from Sand Key is a very short bridge on SR 699.

  • From Tampa, you would have taken Rt. 60 over the Courtney Campbell Causeway, which isn_t as long as the Howard Franklin or the Gandy Bridges. You would have driven across the city of Clearwater and across the Memorial Causeway, which is much shorter, into the beach area.
  • What is the prettiest town in Washington?|178170

I_m writing a book and am looking for a small town in Washington, preferably with beautiful scenery where it rains a lot. It also shouldn_t be on a reservation of any kind, near one is fine though. And along any rivers or coast is a plus also. Thanks!

  • The scenery on the peninsula is probably the best. That is where the rain forest is. There are a few small towns there. I_ll post a link with an overview of the coast if that helps.
  • How do I know what kind of outlet a campground will have?|174908

What do I ask when I want to know what kind of outlets they have? I do not know much. I know some plugs have two prongs and some plugs have three prongs.

  • The best way, to make sure you will have the right plug, is to take an adapter. That way, you will be able to hook up no matter what kind of an outlet they have. We have been RVing for a couple of years and I have only seen two kinds of outlets. I have also seen 2 kinds of service: 30 amp and 50 amp. For our use the 30 is fine but if you will be operating a lot of things that take electricity you may want to ask that question. Good luck.

  • How can my girlfriend and I have the best time in Boston in 3 days?|111775

I will be staying at Boston for 3 days. How can I maximize my fun while visiting?

    Thanks.

  • Luckily for you, most things are very close. You can almost walk to many things!

In Boston, Fanuiel Hall / Quincy Market is a must. Its a little touristy now, but still a place to revel in history while eating and shopping to your hearts content.

Freedom Trail as well, except don_t walk the whole thing. Just hit some of the highlights. Go to the old North Church, Old South Meetinghouse, Paul Revere_s house, and the nearby Cemetery to see John Hancock and other famous people tombstones.

If you like museums, the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts) is one of my favorite in the world (that and the Muse D_Orsay in Paris). Museum of Science is pretty neat too, lots of cool stuff.

If you like Baseball, you might be able to catch a Red Sox game. Fenway_s very easy to get to by subway.

If you like to shop, go to the shops at Prudential Center / Copley Plaza. Also, be sure to walk down nearby Newbury St just for fun and window shop.

Harvard Sq can be entertaining to walk around. Or you can bounce down to MIT and walk those hallways as well. Next to that is the esplanade, where you can walk the Charles River, which is gorgeous in the summer time, walk downtown and grab something to eat near Fanueil hall!

You can also get a day pass for the _T_ (subway) and ride all over just for fun!

If you want to wander outside of Boston (like if you have a car),

    There_s also
    Salem (north of Boston),
Bunker Hill memorial in Charlestown (and you can climb it)
Old Ironsides (USS Constitution) in Charlestown,
JFK library (just south of Boston),
Lexington and Concord (where it all started) out Route 2 (about 30-40 min away).

Be sure to have a meal at a restaurant in Bostons famous Italian North End.

Enjoy the seafood too! For affordable seafood, No Name_s is the place to go. Outside of that, you could do the old reliable Durgin Park @ Quincy Market.

As you might be able to tell, Boston_s one of my favorite cities.

Hope you have a fantastic time!

  • Take the Duck tours which are fun. Go to a Red Sox game. Go to Fanueil Hall and eat all the yummy foods.

  • Well, it would really all depend on what sort of trip you are looking for, and what interests you. It would be nice to stay in a nice hotel directly downtown, and go to a romantic restaurant in the North End, and take a walk around the commons. Maybe walk through the Musuem of Fine Art, etc. . .If you_re looking for something more active/fun you could try to get tickets to a Red Sox game, go to the Aquarium, walk around Fanueil Hall (lots of sites, food and shops there) and then go to some of the bars around that area. Duck Tours and the Freedom Trail give you good ideas about the entire city. The top of the Prudential Building is good for a great view of the city.

  • Have a lot of sex!

Seriously do the duck tours, see fanueil hall/Qunicy Market, Walk the Freedom trail and see the Public Gardens and Boston Common

  • all boston has is liqour and 18plus clubs. I hope you like to drink. and to maximize your fun do not and I repeat do not walk into a dark ally. bostons fun untill one of the gangs kills you and gang rapes you girl. true story.
  • What place in South Orange county has character without being extremely expensive?|112842

I may relocate somewhere near Aliso Viejo. A lot of it seems like strip malls and look-alike housing developments. Laguna Beach has its charm, but I_ve heard it_s over-the-top expensive. What areas have character?

  • ::sigh::
Another question that_s impossible to answer.

See, OC is all new, for the most part. Have you ever seen the video that shows the opening of Disneyland? The only thing you had outside the park was I-5 and Orange Groves. Everything built since then was done with a cookie-cutter, because that_s what people wanted.

The exceptions to that rule are ALL expensive. Heck, even the cookie-cutter places are expensive. In order to find places with character, you have to go back into the history books. But people who already live in those areas aren_t going anywhere. And the laws of supply and demand dictate a high price for such real estate.

But you can start looking in the following areas:
    -Huntington Beach
    -Downtown Brea
    -Downtown Orange
    -Santa Ana
    -Laguna Beach
    -Newport Harbor
    -Fullerton, esp. near downtown
-La Habra (might be your best shot at a decent price)

  • Remember cost is relative...
Yes, all of Laguna Beach is extermely expensive compared to Omaha, NE, but compared to most of OC there is a lot of responsibly priced rentals. Can you get a 1 bedroom in Irvine and Laguna Beach for $1200 = yes... the one in Irvine will be a much nicer place/the one in Laguna will be a much better location.

If you really want character without cost, I would look at the Old Town area of Orange or Belmont Heights in Long Beach.

FYI - Laguna is far from anything. It takes 20+ mins to get to the freeway.

  • dddddddddddddddddd

  • There are no cheap coastal areas, none.

At Wilderness on the lake in the Wisconsin Dells, can you bring your own boat?|177766

My family has been at the Wilderness Resort in the Wisconsin Dells a few times already, and we have had a great time. This year we want to go again, yet spin it up a bit, so we are thinking about wilderness on the lake. On the website it says there are boats available for use. First of all, do you have to pay to rent those boats, and second Can you bring your own boat and use it, and keep it there on their marina?

  • im not sure but if you did bring your own boat, the most they could do is make you launch it some where else near by.
  • Which Chicago airport is easier to get to downtown on the train from?|124852

I_m going to Chicago in September and would like to know whether it_s easier to take the train from O_Hare or Midway to downtown. Thank you in advance for your help.

  • Both are fairly easy, but they are constantly doing work on the Blue Line, the train line that comes from O_Hare to downtown. There are delays all the time, so for that reason I_d say Midway, which is served by the Orange Line.

  • Both are easy but it depends where downtown you are talking about.

The Orange Line goes right into Midway and goes around the Loop before heading back out to Midway.

The Blue Line starts at O_Hare and goes under Dearborn Street as a Subway. And many destinations downtown can be accessed by the underground Pedway keeping you out of the elements.

If you have business in the West Loop west of the Chicago River, you can take the Blue Line from OHare to the Jefferson Park station and then take Metra into Olgilvie Transportation Center at the Citicorp Center.

See the map below for the downtown area map for the CTA. The second link shows the Pedway System.

That is one area we are one up on New York - their Subways do not go th the airports. They come close but you have to find a bus to finish the trips to LaGuardia and JFK.

  • Both are easy. From Midway take the Orange Line from the Terminus -sort walk from baggage claim- (12 stops on Orange Line to Clark + Lake). From O_Hare take the Blue Line (16 stops to Clark + Lake).

  • They are both easy. Ohare is farther so it takes longer. The midway train might require a slightly longer walk to get to from the terminal.

  • midway
  • What are some places in Chicago that are open 24 hours a day and have free wifi?|199361

I_m looking for a place (preferably on the north side of Chicago or downtown) that has free wifi and is open 24 hours a day. A specific place would be appreciated. Any public place like a coffee shop, a diner, or something of that nature would be perfect.

    Thanks.

  • Dunkin_ Donuts opens really late but i_m not sure how late. They also have free Wi Fi ;)

  • My friend sits in the library parking lot in her neighborhood at night, and uses their wifi.

  • How much will a cab cost from Jamaica Queens to Newark Airport?|177285

I am planning on going away in Jan 2010 and i really don_t want to take the train out to Newark.

  • You can call either Dial 7 or Carmel Car Service, which will take from the Jamaica to Newark for about $45 to $50. The phone number for both car service companies can be found at the link below.

    Good luck
    Native New Yorker

  • I found:

    Midtown Special | JFK $49* | LaGuardia $45* | Newark $59*

*Tolls _ reservation fees not included, all reservations must agree to company terms _ conditions

  • Listen...your in New York, never take a cab that many miles. Take a cab around in Manhatten, not too Jersey! There are plenty of companys that pool that route.

What are the pros and cons of living in Santa fe,New mexico?|186918

What are the pros and cons of living in New mexico in general?
Do you know any good places?
    Hows the weather?
Im looking for a place thats mostly warm and has nature near it.I also do not wish to live in a big city.
    Thank you

Also what about the the weather, natural disasters, things to worry about, the types of animals/creatures/bugs.

  • I have lived there:

    Cons:
    1. Housing and cost of living is extremely expensive!
    2. Job market is very limited - mostly service related jobs
    3. Winters are cold but not really that bad
    4. Closest airport of any consequence in Albuquerque. Santa Fe does have an airport and has some commuter type service.

    Pros:
    1. Beautiful old city (oldest state capitol in the US)
    2. Vibrant arts/cultural community
    3. Excellent skiing very close (Santa Fe, Taos, etc.)
    4. If you are an artist it is an excellent place to work
    5. Excellent all around outdoor activities close
    6. Has an excellent rail system to and from Albuquerque/Belen/Los Lunas
    7. No natural disasters to speak of (Tornadoes, etc.)
    8. Has 4 distinct seasons. Summers are not too hot and it is a very dry climate (no humidity)

That just about sums it up.

  • winters are fairly cold, its in the middle of nowhere, havent been there but ofviously its beautiful

cost of living is high but not in albekurkie
  • Kentucky: What is the best town in central Kentucky in which to live?|174503

Think of the Louisville-Lexington area, extending from Elizabethtown/Fort Knox to Mt. Sterling and Stanton, and from Dry Ridge to Mt. Vernon and Liberty.

  • Bloomfield: beautiful, quaint, tiny, but still right off the Bluegrass Parkway.

Woodford County: this would include Versailles and Midway. Both towns are gorgeous and (mostly) clean, have just undergone downtown _makeovers_ through the KY renaissance program, and the farmland surrounding the towns is so beautiful. Full of history and character; however, Woodford just DOUBLED its property taxes at the start of _06.

Lexington: rude people, nut drivers, but a gorgeous city! Also surrounding by stunning beauty.

Frankfort: nice little town, kind of a scroungy redneck outpost, but it does have its nice parts. Has a very expansive and well-maintained park system for a town that small.

Owen County: if you can_t stand city life, move there. There_s absolutely nothing!

Nicholasville: a booming southern suburb of Lexington, with two large shopping _districts_ (not centers, they_re larger than that) currently under construction. Nice land, relatively low cost of living, and Lex. is a stone_s throw away.

Danville: lovely town, home of Centre College. Can be a little snooty and high-handish if you encounter that type of people, but it is THE bargain of the central KY area. Great public schools, three colleges, a good police force, safe town, very clean, nice parks, two performing arts centers, and the mountains are only 30 min. away.

Stay away from: Lawrenceburg!!!, Harrodsburg, Taylorsville, Shelbyville, Winchester, Richmond, Georgetown, Mt. Sterling

  • none

  • hopkinsville,ky area
  • What kind of neighborhood is the 16th street and mission street area in San Francisco?|184136

Is it a bad neighborhood or is it an okay place to be going for a concert?

  • The Mission is San Francisco_s Latin Quarter. Most of the residents are impoverished Hispanic immigrants, so there_s some gang activity. However, the atmosphere is very lively.

And whatever seedy dealings are going on at night... it usually doesn_t involve clueless, non-Spanish speaking outsiders. Just ignore the roving bands of young men _hanging around_ and they_ll likely ignore you too.

  • The Mision District in general tends towards the seedy. I would not recommend hanging out after midnight, but if you are there for a concert, presumably a crowd will be present, and you_ll head elsewhere at the conclusion. 16th is like a major street anyhow.

  • DANGEROUS!! Especially this intersection. Be on very high alert, and be careful!!

  • not safe at all. If you go to the concert, don_t leave anything visible in your car, i know someone who_s dry cleaning was stolen out of his car in broad daylight somewhere around that area.

But i_ve gone to concerts in _rough_ neighborhoods. Don_t live in fear, go, have fun.
  • What is the best way to Get to NYC from PA?|111558

What is the cheapest way to get to New york city from Scranton?
Someone told me that you can drive to NJ and park than take a train or a bus in. I don_t mind driving to somewhere in New jersey as long as my car is safe. I don_t trust myself to driving in New york and parking my car. I need to know details like location, parking price, etc. A bus for 2 round trip is 120 bucks from here.

  • don_t know why native recommended you drive to Trenton from Scranton??? that_s the _2-sides-of-the-triangle_ and makes no sense...

take 80 all the way to the NJ Turnpike and go south on the eastern spur to Exit 15X - Secaucus Junction Rail Station, then take the train only 1 stop to Penn Station, NYC.

Secaucus has huge parking, and i think everything from parking to train fares should be very cheap. and the train ride takes only 10 minutes or so.

  • My friend, you can drive down to Trenton, NJ and take NJ Transit_s Northeast Corridor Line to New York City. The trip from Trenton to NYC will take about an hour and 45 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the service you taking. The fare is $12.50 each way ($25 round trip).

There are several parking facilities near the Trenton Rail Station. The link below show their location.

  • What area in Chicago is most central to the major attractions?|121589

I will be visiting Chicago with my two children, boys ages 11 and 14. When searching for hotels, I am not familiar with the areas such as the loop, north michigan, etc. We visited once before and stayed on North Michigan, but weren_t in walking distance to any attractions. And we won_t be shopping! But, Navy Pier, Museum of Science and Industry, Shedd_s, etc.

  • The Loop or downtown Chicago. Everything is pretty close there.

  • You_ll want to be downtown, close to Michigan ave, but maybe a little further south than you were before. You might try the international hostel on Congress. I_m not sure about hotels in the area.

The Field Museum, The Shedd, and the Planetarium are all south just off of Roosevelt.

The Museum of Science and Industry is not with in walking distance from any of the other attractions. You_ll have to take either the Metra from Millennium Station to 55th/57th St. or a bus that drops you off in front of the museum.

If something is not in walking distance, Chicago has a good public transportation system. You can purchase day passes to ride the L or the buses all over the city.

A good place to start is the Chicago Cultural Center at Michigan and Randolph. There is a tourist information center there and they will be able to help you with the specifics of how to get where you want to go.

  • The major attractions are spread out a bit - it is possible to walk but some of the walks are long.

If you stay in the central Loop area, you will be reasonably close to North Michigan Avenue shopping, the Art Institute and the Bean. Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum are not too far. There is a hop-on, hop-off trolley that you can take to get to these.

The Museum of Science and Industry is down in Hyde Park, not too far from the University of Chicago. You can take the El or a taxi to get there.

  • I would suggest the Gold Coast or Lincoln Park area after looking at the original question but later you mention 3 sites that are not near each other. The only site close to my suggestion is Navy Pier.

Unfortunately Chicago has several attractions...there are 53 museums alone! They are spread out throughout the city and suburbs.

Check out the Museum Campus area in Grant Park...Adler Planetarium, Shedd Aquarium and Field Museum of Natural History. They are within walking distance of each other...but a fairly long walk to the planetarium. These can be seen in one day although the Field Museum can be a day by itself. By the way, the Oceanarium exhibit in the aquarium is closed for construction until May 22. Check them out online:

    http://www.fieldmuseum.org/

    http://www.sheddaquarium.org/

    http://www.adlerplanetarium.org/plan/ind

This time, why not stay near Millenium Park? It_s part of Grant Park and is an attraction itself with many things to see and experience:

    http://www.millenniumpark.org/

    http://www.chicagotraveler.com/chicago_m

Below are some nearby hotels. Some have museum packages:

    http://www.essexinn.com/

    http://www.fairmont.com/chicago/?cm_mmc=

    http://www1.hilton.com/en_US/hi/hotel/CH

This would leave the Museum of Science and Industry. This place is about 6 1/2 miles from the others. There are attractions near there....Obama_s home, Univ of Chicago, Oriental Institute...if your kids are into ancient history.

  • stay in _the loop_ or theater district.
go to hotels.com and type in navy pier for hotels closeby.
take the double decker bus tour. you can hop on and off
    at each stop.

  • Get a room at The Drake.
  • Can anyone recommend family accommodation in New England with plenty on offer in surrounding area?|119499

My husband _ I have visted Boston, Marthas Vineyard, Kennebunkport etc pre children and really want to take our kids there, 9, 7 _ 5 years of age. It_s important to get the right accommodation for 5 of us and that there is stuff to keep kids interested. Bike riding, boat trips, parks, beach etc.

  • Consider Rhode Island. Our small state has many of the things you_re looking for... here in Newport we have beaches, a beautiful big harbor with a wide range of boat trips, gilded-age mansions, many colonial era buildings, a fort, nature reserves, excellent shopping, world-class events etc. Within a short drive, you_ll find much more - a great zoo in Providence, more beautiful scenery and beaches, woods, off-road cycle paths etc. It_s also a great base for exploring further afield - you can get a fast ferry to Martha_s Vineyard, and Boston is only 1.5 hours away by road. Cheaper family accommodation may be found just outside Newport in Middletown, Jamestown or Portsmouth.

  • Thank you Marj, great reply. Sorry it_s taken me so long to appreciate your email. I will certainly look into the useful links you sent. Thanks again.

What is the best thing to do in Baltimore while getting drunk?|161022

I will be there the end of this month for 3 nites and I need some suggestions.

  • Bar-hop the Inner Harbor...

  • I will not answer questions from this screen name or avatar.

  • The best thing to do if you are getting drunk, regardless of where you are, is not to drive and kill someone or yourself.

  • Hit on the bachelorette party girls in Canton, Fells Point or even Power Plant Live who are just as drunk as you are. Stay away from the sober ones until they become just as drunk as their other friends. Be careful you don_t wind up in Baltimore_s Central Booking - that would be the worst thing to do in Baltimore while getting drunk.

  • There_s a place I know of that a lot of people I know have went to while there --- It_s Looneys at 2900 O_Donnell St.

I think it has a restaurant/bar at the bottom and pool tables and stuff upstairs. I understand it_s a sports bar.

  • You are PLANNING on getting sick? Then my dad use to swear on Coke and Vodka.. the only thing that didn_t give him a hang over. Otherwise, just eat plenty and drink water for as much alc. that you have drunk and be safe and DON_T drive. I_d hate for my husband to splat you on his way home from work. No one needs to know that you are being responsible when you drink. Recommend going to the Rusty Scupper restaurant by the inner harbor. It was tasty.

  • Don_t drive!!!!!

  • Stay in your hotel room.

  • Jump into the harbor and swim over to Fort McHenry to look at the flag.

  • the best thing is to either get you someone to drive you around while you party or call a cab
  • Is St Michael Island in Maryland a great place for a short cruise visit?|105138

My friend and I are interested in taking a cruise from Annapolis to St Michael Island in late September. Since it costs $60/ each for cruise alone and one day, we want to be cautious before making up our mind to go. Has anyone with the experience before can share your thoughts with us? Thanks!

  • Jan, the answer to this lies in the type of things you enjoy doing.
St Michael Island is very relaxed, casual, charming and historic (as islands so often can be).
If you like a slow island-pace then you should love it there.

I think the price is reasonable, but remember there will be other expenses too.
The boutique winery on the island (located in a historic Mill) is lovely if you enjoy a drink.

    http://www.st-michaels-winery.com/

    There are many eateries.
Several are real gourmet restaurants, beautifully located on the water, _The Crab Claw_ is wonderful.

If you like all-things maritime - visit the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum or take the Lighthouse Tour.
If your freind is male - he should find it real interesting.

St Michael is a great way to spend a pleasant day with a friend.
    Treat yourselves.

  • Thank you, I hope you enjoy the island.

  • What is the quickest way to drive from Buffalo to New York City?|192251

Driving from the Peace Bridge at about 7am on a Friday and looking for quickest route, Tolls are OK. Thanks in advance.

  • This should be pretty simple to follow, assuming you get to I-90 in Buffalo.. (*note, you may need to use I-190 there to get to I-90).. Both
I-90 and I-190 are part of the Thruway..(ALSO note I-90 is a toll road). Not sure where you were going in NYC, so I just did a global search for you.. In anycase once you Hit the Holland tunnel, you will basically be there.. NY state maps are available on the Thruway and on Route 81 at most rest areas.. At some of the rest areas on 81 you might also find a NYC map which will prove quite helpful. This trip should take about 7 hours. Also along the way once you hit 81, you should see signs directing you.

How do I find a place to live in NYC several months in advance?|181146

I_m a soon-to-be college graduate looking to relocate to NYC in summer 2009. I wish I could have an idea now where I will be living and what I would be paying in rent, but of course apartments aren_t typically available that far in advance. Advice on how to plan/ how to deal with this uncertainty?

  • Just because you can_t sign a lease several months out, that doesn_t mean you can_t look at apartment listings in places like Craigslist and get a sense of what neighborhoods you prefer, how much you_ll have to spend / how much space you_ll get in your price range, etc.

  • My friend, may I recommend the links below.

What is the best way to travel between Ohare airport and Midway airport in Chicago?|182751

I will be arriving at O_hare Terminal 5with my wife and a 2-year-old and we need to get on connecting flight departing from Midway airport in Chicago. What is the best way? Is there a bus/public transportation? How much is a cab or a limo? How long will it take? Thank you.

  • Years ago their used to be a helicopter shuttle between the two airports.
There is still a shuttle service called Coach USA / Wisconsin.

This web link should give you some information.

    http://www.flychicago.com/ohare/groundtr

There are also some limo services that will go between the two airports, obviously a bit more expensive.
There is also public bus transportation, but I would not suggest it - especially since you have a small child with you.
    Good luck

  • Best solution is to take a taxi. If you book a car service, they typically require that you call them after you retrieve your bags. Although a car service is much nicer, that process can delay the transfer by about 10-15 minutes. Instead, just step outside to the taxi line and you should have a car within a much shorter wait. (By the way, always beware of any alleged _private drivers_ who solicit business in the airport or even outside -- it_s illegal).

Taxi will cost about $45, give or take, and you should be there in about 30-40 minutes (unless you_re traveling during rush hour and then plan for a good hour). They do charge an additional $1 per person. I wonder if they would actually charge for a 2 year old?

  • The best way to get there would be to just take a taxi cab. However, it will be about $45 and up, depending on what cab service you use. I know because I work at the Hilton Garden Inn right outside the airport, and we always recommend that our guests use Airport Taxi and Limo. Their phone number is 847-297-5556. You can also try calling their 800 number at 800-707-0380. They charge our guests a set rate of $45.

As for time planning, it takes 45 minutes with no traffic, and about an hour to an hour and a half if it_s rush hour, between 4-6pm.

    Best of luck :)

  • Depends upon how much time you have.
There is a bus that travels between the two airports $14 per person.
If you have more time you could try the cta ($2.5 per person). Take the blue line and transfer to the orange line at clark/lake. For this route, I would schedule 2 hrs of travel time. Not the fastest, but cheap.

  • If you travel with a baby, the safest way is to book a limo or a sedan with local chicago limo company, such as
    http://stretchlimochicago.com/
    .

The trip will cost you around $60 in black town car plus you order a car seat rental too for around $5 extra.

Check the following link to a bus line that runs between them

  • take a cab, it may take atleast an hour, but its the quickest way and least expensive, there is no train that goes out there

I am planning a trip to Cleveland and this is the main reason for it. I am a HUGE music freak. so is my fiance. How long should I expect to be in there?

  • It can take anywhere from 3 hours to the whole day depending on what they have going on. I know sometimes they show documentaries so you may get caught up in the documentary for 2 hours.

  • a day and you should get through it i would not plan for anything less than a day u dont want to rush

Heading to Destin beach in a couple days and just wondering what the water will be like.

  • Warm and clear. unless there is a storm. the water temp is around 91. Hopefully there aren_t storms. i went to marco island two years ago and the first two days were beautiful. calm waves, clear and warm water. then a storm came and the water became cold and murky. but the water is usually clear and warm :)
    Have a good trip!

  • How is interstate travel in the Fargo-Moorhead area affected by the flooding?|178365

We have a trip planned from Manitoba to St. Paul this weekend (April 3-5). We were planning on taking I-29 down to Fargo, then I-94 across the river to Moorhead and down to the Twin Cities.

Is this still the best route, or are these interstates experiencing flood-related closures, traffic backups, etc? Is the I-94 bridge across the Red River even open?

Thanks for any information. Also, I would have posted this in the Minneapolis-St. Paul section, but there isn_t one!

  • Currently the Interstates are open to travel---the I-94 bridge between Fargo-Moorhead is one of two bridges that didn_t close, bur there will be some extra traffic due to other bridges still being closed.

What day do they shut off the Christmas tree in Rockefeller center?|192132

What day do they shut off the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center in NYC? Do they shut it down on Christmas day??? If so what day and time do they shut down the tree? What day do all the windows and evrything in Rockefeller Center go down?

  • The tree stays up until after the new year. The only time the lights are shut off are on NYE (I think).

I see that there_s a self-guided Powerplant Tour and a guided Hoover Dam Tour. The self-guided one is $11 and the guided one is $25. What_s the difference? Do I not get to see some of the dam if I tour on my own?

  • You want the guided our as you go into the deper parts of the Dam, hear the history, and so much more. You get to look up from the bottom, something you do not get for the self tour.

  • We took the guided one and it was def worth the $25...you go down into the dam, learn alot of history, and it_s just really interesting..Not sure where the $11 gets you but the following link should help, I_d pay the extra!!
  • Taking a vacation to San Fransisco and curious if the Embassy Hotel by the airport is a good/safe place to sta?|176274

Boyfriend and i are going in aug or sep. Also what are some fun things we could do? Thanks!

  • The airport is pretty far away from downtown San Fran. You could take the BART metro in each day but that would be a bit expensive _ you would probably want to stay in the city as there is a lot to do. log onto any web or pick up a guide book as there is just so much to do.

  • I just recently went to San Francisco, and yes, the Embassy Hotel is definitely a good and safe place to stay. When I was there, my family and I went shopping obviously, but we also went to Pier 39. It has lots of cool shops and great dining. I recommend going to Alcatraz, because we went there and it was very interesting and a great experience. I was glad we went. Have fun and hope I helped!

  • That is more of a hotel for business travelers, there is nothing around there and it isn_t even in SF, actually its about 10 mi from downtown SF. And yes it is a safe area. Its going to be a journey just to get to SF.

  • You are taking a trip to Burlingame?? Why? You should get a hotel in SF. And yes it is very very safe.

  • How can I find a decent studio in nyc without going completely broke?|175793

I have been apartment hunting in nyc and would like to find a nice studio bc I have had bad luck with roommates and the roommate matching websites I have used have not helped out a lot either!! What are my best options to find a place that is not outrageously priced but in a nice part of the city?

  • A studio in Manhattan will go for $1800 or so. The other boroughs can be had for much less. Try Sunnyside, Woodside or Jackson Heights in Queens. These neighborhoods are a short train ride from midtown.

  • If you want to live in Manhattan its going to be hard finding a place that is inexpensive. I recommend you look up Astoria or Bayside they are nice places and a lot cheaper than the city. Also if you are getting a studio it is probably going to be very small. When you do get the apartment you should look up
    http://www.storagedeluxe.com/.
I rented a storage unit from them when I got my first apartment and it worked out really well. Hopefully they will be as helpful to you.

  • LOLOL. Studio? Nice part of the city? Are you Donald Trump. You would do better in the Boros. Rent is outrageous even in bad parts of the city.

  • My advice, don_t look for one in Manhattan, because their expensive. Consider looking for a decent studio in the outer boroughs.

    Good luck

  • How old do you have to be to book a room at the LA airport and what are the cheapest rates?|167679

I_m 19 and am flying into LA later this week. If I am not old enough do you know of any hotels/motels that will give me a room in the LA area? Thanks a lot.

  • You have to be legally an adult and you have to have a valid credit card. That usually means at least 18, so I think you are ok. Actually, as long as you have the valid credit card part, I doubt very much if anyone will even ask about your age.

But airport hotels right next to LAX are among the most expensive in the city. You will do much better on price if you can find a place about 3-4 miles away, and take a Super Shuttle back and forth. For example, try going south into Manhattan Beach or north into Marina del Rey. They are much safer neighborhoods, and with more decent restaurants and fun places to walk around and see the sights too.

  • You are a legal adult in the eyes of the law so you can rent a room practically anywhere.

The only thing ya have to be older to do is rent a car (24 due to accident liability).

As long as you pay for it that is ...j/k.

The first answer said a credit card but hey that is not the case. If ya pay cash and have a valid state ID card you should be fine.

Where is there a tall field of grass in the Los Angeles area?|189351

I am an indie filmmaker making a short film and one of my key scenes involves a condo development near a tall field of grass. I_m told this kind of field doesn_t exist in LA. Does anyone have any ideas?

  • Grass is not too likely, weeds are more probable, especialy after winter rains. Grass and weeds are cut down in late spring because of fire danger.
Does it have to be in LA proper or can it be in other areas? there is a Townhome development in Santa Clarita near Bouquet Canyon Road and Newhall Ranch Road that has some taller grass at some times.
I think there are some places in the west valley that may have _natural_ landscapes.

  • Thx 4 the choice. Maybe u can look on Realtor.com for some other places specify condo only and look for something that has open space nearby. Try Santa Paula

  • raging water n san dimas , the LA county fairgrounds n Pomona, Whittier Narrows Park, San Gabriel river near the 605 and I-10 interchange. u can find house with some tall grass if u know where to look.
  • What are the best places to live in Arizona?|188870

I am considering a move to Arizona. Leaning towards the Flagstaff area and want opinions or the city or other cities in Arizona. I am going to school for accounting, so I would need a fairly open job market for accounting and I have a young child, so the quality and safety of the school system is also important. Also, I am african-american, so wondering if AZ is pretty diverse or has a high racial problem.

  • Flagstaff is one of the better places to live and raise a family in Arizona (I grew up there). It is small enough that you don_t get the pollution, traffic, and crime of a big city, but large enough that you still have a good hospital, nice selection of stores and shops, etc. At 7000 elevation, they have four real seasons with nice cool summers and snow in winter. It is surrounded by National Forest and within a short drive of many National Parks and Monuments.

The university also results in a higher number and quality of educational and cultural events than you would normally find in a town of that size (~50,000). Because of the university and several scientific institutions (like Lowell Observatory and USGS), education is valued more than in most of Arizona (where education is generally considered a threat to tax dollars) and thus the public schools are generally better than the state average (which over all ranks among the lowest in the country).

The worst part of living in Flagstaff is a higher than average cost of living for a town of that size (it is becoming a popular resort/summer home/retirement town) and limited higher income jobs. The best jobs are with the university or WL Gore (makers of GoreTex). However, every business needs accounting, so there must be a fair number of account jobs there.

The racial make-up of the town is mostly anglo with large hispanic and native american groups. There are not large numbers of Asians or American-Americans, but the town (and most of its citizens) has a very laid back easy-going quality and is generally very open to different people, life-styles, cultures, etc. Politically the town leans democratic and there are strong artist, outdoor enthusist and counter-culture communities.

Outside of Flagstaff, the towns with the largest African-American populations are Phoenix and Tucson, but even here, they are a pretty small minority percentage-wise and the majority is Anglo and Hispanic. Flagstaff and Tucson are the towns that tolerate and even celebrate diversity the most. Racism is more prevalent in the smaller rural towns and to a lesser degree in Phoenix, but even here it is probably not as much as some places back east (other than the current flaring tempers caused by the illegal immigration debate).

Phoenix is where the most jobs are (high-tech, construction, medicine, retirement/elderly related). Home prices and cost of living used to be pretty good for a city of this size, but house prices have shot through the roof in the last two years (hard to find a modest family home for less than $200K), but is starting to slow down. Unfortunately the anything-for-a-buck boom town attitude in Phoenix has also resulted in lots of sprawl, congestion, pollution, higher crime, and a strip mall culture with little interest in community, arts, or good public education (in my opinion). Summer are hot (113 today) but the low humidity takes the edge off it.

  • We don_t have a lot of high tech jobs. Phoenix would be best for that. We live in Marana near Tucson. Very nice. Smaller than Phoenix which is why we like it. Plenty of jobs. I don_t know how Flag is as far as jobs. It is small and land locked. So if you want a small town that will stay small, that_s a good place. But it_s a lot colder up there. I don_t know if weather matters to you. If you are single, you should stick to Tucson or Phoenix area.
We are planning on moving out of state because of the schools. Don_t like them. Az is VERY diverse. However, I don_t see a lot of african americans about. At least not in my area. It_s kind of odd to see african americans around. There is one family that goes to my gym, but that_s all I really see. Shouldn_t discourage you though because AZ is diverse and open to diversity in many areas.

  • NEAR THE WATER PIPES. OR NEAR THE TRAIN STATION SO YOU CAN GET AWAY.

  • its been awhile but i lived in a town called casa grande very small at the time but it is almost right in between phoenix and Tucson i kept an apartment in Phoenix were my son stayed an lived there on the weekend i found people very friendly and my son worked for a Mexican family in their restaurant

  • I_m not an expert on Flagstaff but am an AZ native who has also spent some years living in Boston. Jennifer_s comments about Flagstaff having a lot of _hippies_ and Native Americans who choose gangs seemed pretty out of line which I wanted to comment on; those are blanket stereotypes in my opinion. Anyway, having spent substantial time living on the East Coast, I really enjoyed my exposure to different cultures and lifestyles. I am truly hoping that the expansion of ASU into the downtown Phoenix area this fall will infuse intellectual property, research, ideas and subsequently, help to revitalize the city and present more cultural experiences for the rest of the valley.

  • Well Queen Creek is a very safe place for you and your child. There are schools such as Queen Creek elementary and Queen Creek Middle School and also there is Queen Creek high school. There are lots of jobs in Queen Creek also. Its a really cool place to live! :)

  • Tucson...its voted best for women (by AZ citizens)

  • Do you want cooler weather, is that why you_re thinking of Flagstaff? Flagstaff is a college town and has lots of hippies (really). The school system there is terrible. My in-laws both work for the school district and it_s very poor. There are many Native American students drawn to gang activity there, and the city is rated in the bottom ten for medium sized cities in the entire nation! So, I don_t recommend it. If you_re looking for cooler weather in AZ, think Payson. Queen Creek schools are good (responding to the post above), but half of Queen Creek is in Florence USD... not so good. Arizona is very diverse and you shouldn_t have problem. I would recommend the Gilbert School District, especially Highland High School area. They do very well and have low crime and high test scores. There are lots of new business in Gilbert, so I don_t think you would have problem finding a job. Plus, it_s located near the 60, so you could take the freeway to work if you found something close by (Mesa, Apache Junction, Tempe).

  • Phoenix has a lot of high tech jobs.

Ditto the nice things other have said about Flagstaff. I think it would be a nice small town to live in. It_s somewhat of a college town, with Northern Arizona University there.

Prescott is a small town, but growing fast, and is also very nice.

I don_t see any racial problems in Arizona. We are a very mixed society with many Latin Americans, Native Americans and every other race.

  • My suggestion is Tempe/Chandler.

If you want the BEST school district for your child, it is the Kyrene School District, which is K-8. It also partners with Tempe Union High School District (9-12), so your child will filter to schools with thier friends. These districts are located in Tempe/Chandler/Awatukee borders which is roughly on I-10 and Kyrene Blvd.

Ultimatly, my suggestion would be to get with your a Real Estate agent in the area and ask them where the good schools are. But Kyrene/Tempe Union is what most of them are going to say.
  • How can we do to travel to Texas from California?|143288

  • What does it take to become a Disney Princess at Disney World in Florida?|111589

I_ve always wanted to be a Princess at Disney World in Florida. Are there guidelines that I have to follow or something? I_ve taken acting classes all throughout high school, and I am willing to take them in college if it means that I can work at Disney World.

  • You will want to attend an official audition. Keep an eye on the audition page for updates. This site is great for any information you want to know about Disney auditions from what to expect, what to bring, what the experience is like, and more.

    http://corporate.disney.go.com/auditions

Disney Princesses are cast into a few different groups. Those who can sing/dance/act and have the ability to portray at least a few characters could be cast as a performing princess. These princesses could be cast for in park performances like parades, stage shows, the beauty and the beast show, and other such things.

Meet and Greet princesses pose for pictures and sign autographs. They don_t necessarily have to be performers. Disney Princesses range in height of 5_4 to 5_7. You don_t have to have the hair color of any particular princess to get cast as her, because every cast member will have a wig. The humidity in Florida is so high, so everyone wears wigs no matter what.

You will also be taught how to do your own makeup, and will do it before every shift by using guidelines. Most cast members are not cast as one particular character, but are cast based on their versatility. They like to be able to tell someone that she is Belle one day and Snow White the next without a problem.

If you think you can do these things, attend an audition and see what happens! They will quickly glance over people and choose those whose faces they think are versatile enough to continue. Auditions can be brutal, from what I have heard. Best of luck to you!

  • First off, you_re going to want to get a job in the Disney College program. That means working a food stand, running a ride, sweeping trash. Whatever it takes to get your foot in the door.

Then, when there is an opening for a princess, you_ll want to make sure to apply and go to the tryouts. The requirements are very demanding, especially in regards to height and weight.

Don_t forget, you_re not the only person who dreams of being a Disney princess, so the competition is going to be very tough.

  • You need to contact Walt Disney World Casting to see when and if there is an open casting call for that role. You will need to audition. Call Walt Disney World Casting at 407-828-1000. Good Luck!

What is the difference in terms of lifestyle? culture? pace? competition?
Plenty of information would be appreciated.

  • People in California are, for the most part, more liberal than their Midwestern counterparts. You will find more people in California concerned with external superficialities such as: cars, homes, plastic surgery. In other words: how things _look._

  • Of course geography would be an influence on the difference of these two areas. It_s more sunny on the west coast, therefore more people go to the beaches and etc. Whereas the midwest, I hear they do farming? I personally wouldn_t know. To keep it plain and simple, the west is far more diverse.

Its for My boyfriends birthday. We have been to San francisco, San Diego, and Santa Barbara. Im looking for a new spot. All suggestions would be helpful

  • Catalina Island is fun though hotels and campgrounds get booked up fast so its best to plan ahead. Taking the boat out of Long Beach is the best way. There are plenty of adventures to be had over there if you have the budget. Also if you drive the 1 through Big Sur starting off in quaint San Luis Obispo and end up in Carmel or Monterey. You can see miles of untouched coast and go down and explore good beaches. Morro bay is awesome and make sure to stop by the Taco temple for a bite.

  • The San Luis Obispo area would be fun. Pismo and Avila Beach are within that area. You could rent ATVs in Pismo and ride the sand dunes. These rent by the day, half day, or hour and they are a blast. There are many hotels located right on the beach in Pismo.

In Avila Beach there_s a great resort called Sycamore Mineral Springs. Each room has its own private hot tub. Some have fresh water but most have natural mineral springs water. • Where are the best parking places near Arrowhead stadium to park for Chiefs games?|176994

im going to a kansas city game in a couple weeks and have never been to arrowhead, and locals have some good tips on where to park? i dont really want to spend $28 on a stadium parking pass. preferably cheap, less than 1 mile walk (maybe 2 max) with an easy escape to the interstates. thanks in advance!

  • As you exit Interstate 70 (heading east with Kaufmann _ Arrowhead Stadium on your right hand side), instead of making a right towards the Truman Stadium Sports Complex and the church (where $15 parking does exist, not bad), make a left towards a Denny_s _ a motel. Go across the George Brett bridge crossing back over Interstate 70. You_ll go through a few lights but you will enter a neighborhood. The people there rent out their yards to park (similar to college games). There are many homeowners who will only charge you $5-$10 to park your car. In fact, one homeowner (who works for Anheiser Busch) also threw in a six pack of beer for parking there. You can_t beat that!

As previous commentators have mentioned, get there early though. The tailgating scene is amazing. The walk from the aforementioned neighborhood back across the bridge to the stadium is about 15 minutes. The homeowners who rent out their yards sit out on the porch and watch the game, and your automobile too. I have had great experiences with their service. Enjoy the game!

  • If I were you, I would park so you could exit onto Raytown Rd. at the side of the stadiums, it_s much quicker to get out of the stadium right there. Park over at Denny_s or the motel and walk over to the stadium about a half mile.

  • Right across from the parking lot entrances, there is a Church. The parking only cost $15 dollars and you_ll be able to avoid the massive traffic jam when leaving the crowded stadium.

Avoid parking at the hotels and definitely do not park at the Denny_s Restaurant. You will be ticketed and towed!

    `

  • Yep, parking has really increased over the years. The church charges $15 and is unpaved. If you don_t plan to tailgate, you can park at the church and houses on the east side of Blue Ridge Cutoff, which is across from Gate 2. This is just south of I-70 and is on the east side of the stadium gates. It is not far to walk (in fact, some folks who park in lot N walk further).

It is easiest to reach if you are heading NORTH on Blue Ridge Cutoff... so to do that, you must exit on 63rd Street eastbound, then go north on Blue Ridge Cutoff about 2 miles.

If this is your first time at Arrowhead, arrive early and breathe in the smells of tailgating. It is a great scene and home of the best tailgaters in the NFL.
  • How do I get a taxi from the Las Vegas airport to my realtors office?|187025

I_ve never taken a taxi in my entire life and have no idea what to do once I get off the plane. Help/tips/advice about where to go to get a taxi, how to get one, and what to expect would be appreciated! Thank you.

  • After you exit your plane proceed to the luggage area. Normally just follow the crowd. You will see signs above telling which way to luggage claim. After you get your luggage you will see signs telling you what doors to exit for the taxi line. Just get in line, which is usually pretty long here in Vegas. When you get to the front of the line a person will direct you which direction to go to get your cab. They move very fast and is never a wait once you get to the front of the line. You should have the address printed out and directions or a map to give to the driver. You Realtor should provide that for you. Surprised your realtor isn_t picking you up at the airport.

  • There are cab lines at the airport so it_s just a matter of getting in line and getting into a cab as it pulls up. There are signs showing you the way.

Before you leave, go onto MapQuest or some similar site and figure out how many miles it will be from the airport to your realtor_s office and get a general idea of the route. You_ll want to know because the cab drivers in Vegas are notorious for _long-hauling,_ which is when the cab driver takes you out of your way in order to increase his fare.

  • Use mapquest to check the distance between the airport and your realtors office, then write down the directions. Proceed to the baggage claim and once you get on the taxi cab, tell the dirver which way to take, that way way he won_t take you for a ride while the meter is running.

  • What hotel is the best, at a reasonable price to stay in on myrtle beach?|197704

I have been looking at hotels for days to stay in when we go to myrtle beach and I cant decide which ones are the best at a reasonable price! My husband and I are going for the first time for our 1 yr wedding anniversary! Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!

  • there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely give you great hotels and best prices available. just go to BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it_s very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.

  • What are some good radio stations in the central US?|137049

This Friday, I will help my friend move from Houston, TX to Bismarck, ND. Which radio stations would you recommend on our cross-country trip? Where are they based? My friend and I prefer political talk shows and rock music, but we_re open to a variety of formats. Any suggestions, FM or AM radio?

  • B 96
    ( 96.3 )

  • I like 101.9 fm because they play a variety of music.

  • use www.radio-locator.com It is a radio station search engine.

  • How much does it cost to take a train to New York City?|107336

Okay, so over my February vacation I want to take the train to New York City.
Where is the nearest train station in Albany, NY that can take me there? How much does it cost, usually, there and back? I_m only planning on a long day trip with a few members of my family.

Any information about this would be lovely, seeing as I only have a short time to figure all of this out.
    Thank you, in advance.(:

  • The Albany station is called Albany-Rensselaer, NY (ALB), and the NYC station is New York - Penn Station, NY (NYP). Tickets cost about $36 each way, so $72 total. Like other people have said, you can purchase your tickets at amtrak.com. Their website is pretty easy to navigate so you can select the proper day, time, and number of passengers for your trip. Hope you have a great time!

  • You_d want the Amtrak station in Albany. Schedules and fares can be found at Amtrak_s website.

  • go to amtrak.com
  • What is the best way to get from DC to New York and what are the best tour groups to look in to?|163512

We are going to Dc on the 23rd of June and will be returning on the 29th. We want to see as much as possible during our time there. We are wanting to do a side trip to NY to visit Ground Zero, The Statue of Liberty, Time Square, etc. We have never been to either place and want to know the best mode of transportation and what tour groups to look in to while we are there. We are driving to DC from S. Ga., so driving to NY is an option. ANY info would be greatly appreciated.

  • There are a number of shuttle buses that run from DC to New York. Many of them are Asian Owned and/or operated and will pick up in DC_s chinatown and drop off in NYC. One is Eastern Shuttle - it is $40 round trip.

    http://www.easternshuttle.com/

A friend of mine uses these shuttles and swears by them. I personally have not used them, but as I said, I_ve heard good things about them.

A different kind of tour in NYC is done by Photo Trek Tours (web site is:
    http://www.phototrektours.com).
Your tour is conducted by a professional photographer that is also a fount of knowledge about New York City. He will customize your tour based on where you want to go and what you want to see.

In addition to going to all of these great places, he_ll take pictures of you along the way so you have this great momento of your trip. The photo_s are professionally done and you can avoid the _will you take my picture?_ every time you want a shot of you and your travelmates.

In DC, of course there are all of the Smithsonian museums (all are free) and there_s one for every taste. The Spy Museum is fun. The Holocaust Museum and the Vietnam Veteran_s Memorial are both sobering, but very moving. If you like cultural things, there are free outdoor concerts in the summer in a number of locations such as the Kennedy Center. You can get half-price tickets to plays and other performances at ticketplace. The National Zoo is great, especially if you have kids.

Have a great time in DC and NYC.

  • What is the best way to get from DC to New York and what are the best tour groups to look in to?

Hi my name is Jim from RI
I would not drive to New York city
to park in city could be maybe $25.00 a day ore more a Day
I would look into the train
best tour groups to look in to?
I would go on line and look

  • My wife and I go to D.C. each year on our wedding anniversary. We never really go on any tours, just kind of go around ourselves, there is so much to do and see. If you want a tour, my suggestion is the DC Duck tour. It_s about a 90 minute tour and the vehicle you are in is amphibious and will end driving into the Potomac. It_s pretty neat.

One great thing we did last year was if you go to the Capitol and find a security guard, tell him you want tickets to sit in the HoR and the Senate and they will either give you the tickets or direct you to the office of your Congressman where you can pick them up. It_s pretty interesting if you have never done it.

I have never done the drive from DC to NYC so I can_t help you with that one. :(
  • What is the time difference between sarnia and las vegas?|173543

If it is 8:30p.m. in sarnia, what time is it in las vegas?

  • There is a 3 hour time difference. Vegas is 3 hours behind. When it is 8:30 p.m. in Sarnia, it is 5:30 p.m. in Las Vegas.

  • Sarnia, Canada?

The difference is Las Vegas = Sarnia - 3 hours. So at 8:30pm in Sarnia would be 5:30pm in Las Vegas.

What is the best budget hotel in Reno, NV?|148022

I_m planning a trip to Reno in October, this is my first time gambling, drinking, etc. I_m looking for a cheap hotel that is close to the strip, but as inexpensive as possible. Also, any suggestions on places to go in Reno would be great. And yes, I_ve searched all the travel sites, but none seem to have a lot of spacific information on Reno, and the official web site of Reno seems like one big ad. Thanks!

Check out this publication for current things happening before you come out.
    http://www.tahoethisweek.com/

Circus Circus is reasonable and just off the strip. There are all kinds of low budget hotels away from the strip but they are not the best quality either. I would rather pay the extra and stay some place safe. There are a lot of things to do in Reno you just have to search for them. Check out the different large casinos to see who they have playing for entertainment. John Ascuaga_s Nugget, The Eldorado, The Silver Legacy, Harrah_s, The Grand Sierra (used to be the Hilton). Check out the Montbleu, Harrah_s and the Harvey_s at South Lake Tahoe also to see who_s playing.

Make sure you rent a car and take a trip up to Lake Tahoe. Do the trip around the lake. It should be beautiful in October with the leaves changing on the aspens. If you are going to be drinking, make sure you have a designated driver with you. And VERY IMPORTANT if you smoke. DO NOT THROW YOUR LIT CIGARETTES OUT THE WINDOWS, ETC. We have huge fire hazards up here with the pine trees and don_t need anymore fires starting.

I will be walking the USA coast to coast. How can I get sponsors to help fund my trip?|145240

I have some money saved up(about $1700), but I know I will need some sponsorship. I plan on starting in Maine in July and head toward New York, then go southwest for winter before heading west for California. I am also thinking about charities to collect money for, too. I am 20 years old.

  • Find a charity, CF, MS, Komen B C R, or something else, and they resubmit this question with a link to the charities website where people (like me) can donate/contribute.

That is how this type of endeavor works best.

    Good luck to you.

  • Heh! Maybe you could get Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurants to sponsor you in an advertising campaign (remember when Forrest Gump trekked cross-country in the movie?).

    http://www.bubbagump.com/

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubba_Gump_

  • Definitely you will need more the 1700, I admire your drive though.

When you talk to national sponsors such as the ones noted already, tell them you are willing to talk to media along the way and give them good press... that usually butters them up quite a bit.

  • WOW! You are one determined man, Glenn! I would suggest telling everyone in your community about the walk. They would be willing to donate, espicially if they knew you personally. Then, contact national sponsers, like Kohl_s, KMart, Circut City, et cetera. Tell them you will be wearing a shirt with their logo, and GOOD LUCK!
  • How much a house in staten island New York?|196713

I wanna move to staten island, and i wanna know how much is a house there.

  • It all depends on how much you want to spend. There is a wide range of homes for sale in every area. I would check out the listings in the local paper. The Staten Island Advance would give you everything you need. They have an online listings.
  • How do i go barefoot to pick my sister up from harlan?|159364

I was wanting to know how to go barefoot to pick my sister up without anyone knowing. She lives in Harlan,Ky and I live in Whitesburg, Ky it takes about 45 minutes to an hour to get there _ I need some help to go _ get there barefoot. Can anyone help?

  • Why don_t you want anyone to know you_re barefoot? Some people don_t like it but it_s not illegal or gross to go barefoot, even in stores and even when you_re driving. Stand up for yourself and don_t care so much what other people will say or think, just go barefoot and who cares who sees you!

If you really don_t want that, you could try barefoot sandals, they_re like a strap that covers the top of your foot and leaves the bottom bare. Most designs are girly but you can easily make your own from a strap of leather, all it is is really a figure-8 around your ankle and second toe, attach the two straps at the right place near the toe and you_re done.

  • Lelars is correct. You are an idiot.

  • nope can_t help you with your problem............

    You sound like an idiot.......................

  • yOUR SPIRIT OF CHOICE and YOUR pAXIL !

  • I don_t understand the problem. Just go barefoot. Many people go around barefoot all the time. Its more comfortable than wearing shoes, its relaxing and healthy and good for your feet to be without shoes. Dont worry what others might think. most of the people are ignorant of the laws regarding bare feet. It is not illegal to drive barefoot and no state has any health department regulations regarding footware in places. Just do it.
  • Where does a family with teens move to within 30 minutes of the Denver airport? We like smaller towns amp; hills?|159260

My husband has gotten a job with the territory of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah so we will be moving to the area soon. We can pick where to live close to the Denver airport but know very little about the area. We have 2 young teens and a 3rd grader and we are moving from Tulsa, OK. We don_t want to be in Denver but more of a small town suburb. Any suggestions?

  • To be within 30 minutes of the Denver Airport you would need to live on the east side of Denver which is flat as a pancake and is a big city urban environment. Aurora is the primary suburb on that side of the metro area and is a high crime area to say the least. You might try Parker or Brighton as possible suburbs fitting some of what you are looking for.

  • Well there are small neighborhoods, part of the city out there, like greenwood village, but the airport is the only thing they are close too. They are far and almost isolated from the rest of the city. But they are only about 10 minutes from the airport which is what you wanted so check them out.

  • You would have better choices 45min. to an hour from the airport. Golden, Boulder, Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock to name a few.
I live in Castle Rock just south of Denver, Takes me 50 Min. to get to the airport.

  • Whats the best way to get into popular Vegas dance clubs?|172846

I_m going to Vegas soon and want to check out some of the popular night clubs. Any suggestions on the best ways to avoid standing in line? Thank you!

  • Get VIP line passes...lots on ebay.

If you are female, dress very skimpy and hot.

If you are male....no can do.

  • Feel free to contact me - I have my own VIP list to the new club Pollyesthers at the Stratosphere.

  • #1 Get your hands on some VIP passess
#2 Be in the company of a very hot female
#3 A couple of C-notes to the doorman

  • You can get VIP passes from lots of places but the safest is Vegas.com

VIP allows you front of the line access to clubs which can cut your wait time dramatically down.

The next way is going to sound shallow but its true. If you are attractive and dressed to the nine lots of times bouncers will hand you free passes/VIP to the hottest clubs.
I have witnessed ladies flirting with older gentleman in the front of the line and they were allowed to _cut in_.
  • What are some things to do from Nebraska to California along I-80 or Lincoln Highway?|171779

My wife and I are making a road-trip from Omaha, NE to San Francisco the week after christmas. We want to spend the whole week just enjoying our trip and making it worth the trip. What are some things to do?

  • stop to see the Mormon temple in salt lake or the Bonneville flats and Reno and dunner pass also the Sacramento CA capitol is a site to see !!
  • What are some price ranges on apartments in hawaii?|170357

I am permanently moving to Honolulu for school, and I was thinking of a one bedroom apartment, but is there cheapers alternatives, and what is the pricing on one bedrooms?

  • You can get an efficiency for about $800. A contel/condtel (hotel room that has a kitchenette) for around $700, but your best bet is roommates. My neighbors are college students they live in a 3 bed room, 2 bath condo for $3200 monthly(guessing on their rent), which is a _luxury_ high-rise.

Good Luck with the apartment and school hunt!

  • delusional people like john/leroy can be the token guy from the mainland working through our armed forces, living in hawaii.... you can point at/blame obama for someone like him.
its gonna be expensive and the schools are NOT at all exceptional. for instance, look at the primary and middle schools, some of the worst education inthe country.

  • Things are pretty chaotic right now and you can bargain with your landlord. A friend of my just had his rent reduced by $200 per month (he_d told the landlord he was moving because he couldn_t afford the apartment any longer)

  • cheap apartments are like 900 or 800 a month..you_ll be luck if you find one that cost 700 a month, and that_s for 1 bedroom apartments. do yourself a favor, and just stay where you are right now,, because if you are worrying about money, you have no business being here in hawaii..only rich people like me can live here comfortably
