What is the normal price range to rent out a hotels ballroom for about 6 hours?|174453

I am hosting a graduation party and none of the hotels seem to cooperate with me! the ballroom should hold about 70 people!

  • usually no cost if using hotel catering as opposed to strictly renting facility room. check with non-profit churches, community facilities etc.

  • Does anyone have an opinion on the rooms that were remodeled at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas?|173386

Heading there for a march madness trip, and are deciding between Bellagio, PH or the Wynn.

  • They_re really nothing special. I would rather stay at the Wynn.

  • I can_t imagine they_re as nice as Wynn or Bellagio
  • How can I kill 4 hours in downtown Albuquerque? Should I stay in a hotel, or take the bus home that night?|140259

Next week I (and probably 1 other friend) am taking the bus to Albuquerque to see a free concert of my favorite band. The bus arrives 4 hours before the venue opens. Is there enough to do and see in downtown ABQ to kill the time? And also, there is a bus that goes back that night at 4:25 AM, would it better to take that bus home, skip the hotel all together and save a little extra cash?

  • I think the bus drops you off on 1st street right down town. It depends where the concert is, the convention center, which is downtown, Tingly, which is at the fair grounds, or the Journal which is out by the airport. There is not much to do down town. I would probably get a room and even rent a car. Everything is pretty spread out. If you had a car you could go ride the Sandia tram then get to the concert! Not sure when the bus will leave that next day but it_s never that fun to sleep in the station! I would get a room! Good luck!

  • What kind of shoes should we wear in winter in Chicago?|139861

My daughter will be going to Chicago in Feb. to check out a few art schools. We are from So. Cal so we have NO idea what winter is really like and have absolutely NO idea what kind of shoes she will need to walk around the city in. Help!

  • Well it sorta depends. If there is snow on the ground then you_ll want something that you can walk around comfortably in and keep your feet dry. So like a hiking boot would be good.
    http://www.columbia.com/Category.aspx?to
If there isn_t snow on the ground then basically a sneaker or whatever you feel comfy in. But I wouldn_t wear open toed shoes during the winter here. It can be brutally cold here in Feb.

  • Boots, get them offline if you can_t fine any, you don_t want to get to Chicago without them. Your toes will freeze trying to find some to buy. She might want to buy leg warmers to wear under her pants and layers.. layers ...layers.. The wind will cut right threw you... its the worst part... She_ll need a scarf and hat/hooded coat..

  • Being from Cali, you probably will be REALLY sensitive to the cold. So I suggest insulated boots/shoes. If it is snowing, then insulated boots but no snow, get the insulated shoes. With the insulation, she can just put on several pairs of socks. I don_t know if they sell boots in Cali judging from what the previous person said but you can always get here and buy boots for cheap. And if she will be walking around, she will need a hat, scarf, gloves, long johns or tights and a good warm coat. Every part of her body should be covered because the chill factor downtown is not nice. It is brutal even without the snow because the wind is blowing air from Lake Michigan which makes it colder than outside the city. I hope she has fun!
And I hope I didn_t scare her off.

  • WARM WARM WARM!!!!

  • Boots
    Anything that is close toed.
I live in Texas and know that Chicago is a cold state, ummm watch the news ,mabe?

  • I lived there two years. One winter had NO snow. The other had a little. Both were skin ripping, bone crushing cold because it really is windy. No misnomer. Even in April, the wind is so strong it felt like it would pull out my hair. BUT, Chicago is awesome and I would move back in a minute. Summers are incredible and she will never be bored. If she_s going to live in the city, I would recommend Lakeview, Wriggleyville, or Lincoln Park. There are other nice parts as well but I_m less familiar with them. I would want her to live around the Loop/downtown. And this is going back 12 years now. Hope it helps. Philly has good art schools as well. Great city but a little more _lived in_ than Chicago.

  • A normal winter has lots of snow so make sure she has boots. Yes I know that she wont be able to get them at home but put aside $200.00 just for winter boots and shoes that would be a min. As the temp. goes below freezing at time -10 with the wind chill factor you do have to worry about getting the feet damp and then getting frost bite. I live in MI , across the lake and had up to 7 toes frost bitten at one time. My first year I did not have boots. Not fun
  • In CALIFORNIA Can Teachers and Student stay in the same hotel room?|124003

My class is going on their senior trip soon, and our travel agent is trying to give us crap about the teachers and student staying in the same room (and possibly sleeping in the same KING bed). It_s illigal in Oregon but I can_t find anything for California.
    Help?

  • If the teacher and student are the same sex it shouldn_t be a problem to share a room but there is a risk in that either one could say that something happened and there would be no way to defend against it. The same bed part is just asking for trouble though, especially if the people are of different sex, even if it isn_t against the law it can still get everyone involved in big trouble. I don_t believe there_s currently a law against it but it could be classified under general inappropriate behavior laws.

  • It has been since the mid 90s since I was under 18, but I know that it was never an issue when i was was in school. In fact I clearly remember a class trip where I shared a room with a teacher.

This day and age people are so wierd and sensitive that it wouldnt really suprise me if it was true though.

  • I don_t advise it people always freak out about that type of thing (look at Michael Jackson), you should probably keep teachers and students separate. Even if it is legal (I have sared a room with a chaperone (not a teacher), although there were seperate beds.
