How is Disney World the first week of February/last week of January?|115294

I_m trying to plan out my Disney World vacation and I_m wondering how the parks are during the last week of January and the first week of February. How is the weather? Crowds?

Also, bonus points if anyone can tell me when Disney will have 2010 vacation booking stuff up on their website.

  • that is a great time to go.
the crowd levels are at their lowest.
the average day time temp for that time of year is 72 and the average overnight low is 50. it doesn_t rain much at all during that time of year and is nice and sunny all day long.

i would pack a little of everything from shorts, to capris, to jeans. and be sure to bring a jacket for the early mornings and late at night.
but also make sure you bring your bathingsuit cuz it should be warm enough during the day to go for a swim and if you are staying on disney property they heat their pools to 82 degrees so it is quite warm.
and you_re gonna need your sunscreen too.

mid august is when disney decides if they are upping their prices and that is when you can start booking vacations for 2010.

  • According to yourfirstvisit.net, January and February have pros and cons. The crowds are smaller and the prices are generally lower. However, January and February are peak attraction closure times. Also, often one of Disney_s water parks are closed during this time, too.

So you can save money and have smaller crowds to fight, but you may miss out on some of the attractions. You_ll have to decide what is more important.

  • I did alot of researching and asking around when we planned our trip to Disney. Really, the main consideration with Disney World is the heat and the crowds. So late January or early February is a good time to go on both counts. We ended up choosing the middle of May, while school was still in session for most people and it was fabulous. The weather was warm enough to go swimming and enjoy the trip to the coast that we took. You will want to make sure to check the Disney calendar to make sure your visit does not coincide with any arranged group days that might offend you, annoy you, or just generally bug you! You are going to have so much fun!
  • How far is Graceland from the Memphis Airport?|113204

My husband and I would like to plan a day trip out there and were wondering what the best transportation choice would be.

  • Well Graceland is about 4 miles away from the airport, should take about 10 minutes to get there. A cab should not be that much to get you there, and there are a ton of them at the airport. Since you know that it is only about 4 miles let them know you know so they take you the short way. I really have never had an issue with a cab before but, I like to let them know I did my research and I know where I am going.
There are also a few shuttle companies that go from the airport to Graceland; you will need to schedule them in advance. I have found that shuttles are more expensive than taxi_s, especially when you are going to a place so close. Most run between $15-$25 per a person and the prices varies from round trip to one way.

Also check out the Memphis visitors website, it has all kinds of helpful info, used it when we planned out trip there.

    www.memphistravel.com

You can email them and ask their recommendations for cab companies, this is a free service, these people are local and they know their stuff! I contact the visitors center for all my trips and they are always helpful!

Graceland is a great trip, if you are a AAA member be sure to show your card it saves you 10% which really helps. Also I was able to find a few internet deals that saved me about $5 per a person and since tickets were like $37 per person to do ALL of the tours at Graceland this really helped! Here is the site I found for that:

Well I hope this helps have a great time at Graceland!!!!

  • the Memphis airport is on Shelby drive, about 4 miles from Elvis Presley drive. a quick cab ride down the road. Graceland tickets are about 35.00 each, depending on what you are wanting to see.
  • Where is the nearest shop to Wynn Las Vegas for bottled water and potato chips?|139186

I_m going to be staying at the Wynn, when I arrive I_ll need to stock up on snacks and water, but pay a reasonable price! Is there a CVS or something nearby? Some precise directions would really help. Thanks.

  • Walk across the strip to Fashion Show Mall there are a couple of ABC Stores there that are fairly reasonably priced and very close, one bridge no streets to cross. And the CVS up the road is also a good answer.

  • Yes there_s a CVS and Wallgreens in the immediate area. No more than a 2 block walk. Surprise. Sometimes in the resort convenience store cigarettes and water are just as cheap as in a retail store. THey get you on a newspaper will doubel the price at times.

    have a great trip

  • There_s a CVS just up the strip past the Riviera and Circus Circus. It_s a short hike. When you come out on the strip take a right. 2700 Las Vegas Blvd.

  • I_m sure there is a gift shop in hotel if you want to buy a 7$ bag of chips. Other then that, the CVS up the street is the best option.

  • I was there in August (so bottled water was a top priority) and I seem to recall Walgreens being very close to the Wynn. Have fun and good luck!
  • Where is the best and nearest place to Los Angeles to watch the Meteor shower on August 11 and 12?|115692

I really want it to be good because it will be my first time seeing one. I_ve check and found Joshua Tree National Park. Isn_t there any nearer park that can provide me the same view? Please help me.

  • Mt Pinos is a little closer.

    Lancaster is OK, too.
  • Philadelphia - is it safe to walk from 30th Street station to Univ of Penn campus?|125911

I haven_t been back to Philadelphia since my husband and I graduated from Penn over 15 years ago. Then the area around campus didn_t exactly have a good reputation (the Burger King was called Murder King, and the McDonalds was called McDeath). We would like to go back for a visit with our toddler son and wondered if it is safe to walk from 30th Street Station to the Penn campus in the daytime and early evening. I have no idea what the area is like now. Thanks for all of your help.

  • I grew up in philadelphia and I am a firm believer that basically the entire city is _safe_ during the day. There are blocks I wouldn_t go near once it gets dark, but during the day the city is truly a city of brotherly love. Around the station and campus are fine, there are always a ton of people in that area, just don_t look like too much of a tourist.

  • I graduated from the Restaurant School a couple of blocks away from UPenn. I Walked from 42nd St. To south st. Platform( which I recommend, its right next to Penns stadium) without incident

  • Not too sure how the area is near the school but 30th street station area is fine. Its not the suburbs but you will be fine.

  • My boyfriend is a professor at Drexel--we walk from 30th St. to the Penn _ Drexel campuses all the time. As a young woman, I feel perfectly safe walking alone during the day _ evening. At night, the area is fairly well-lit; I_ve never had a problem. There_s a good security presence in University City, too (the patrolmen often stop and ask if I need an escort).

The area has cleaned up a lot since you were a student. West Philly still has its rough parts, but University City is quite safe (wait _til you see some of the condos that have gone up near Penn!).

  • yea, its perfectly fine.

  • It_s not the prettiest walk. But University City has become a very safe area.

  • yea its safe during broad daylight. i am a soon to be drexel student and i always take the 30th street station to go to drexel which is right next to the penn campus as u kno
  • In Arkansas or Missouri where is the best place to go for digging quartz?|137826

My family and I are on vacation here and I had the names of some mines to go to other than the diamond mine but have misplaced them and can not find them online. Thank you for any help!
