What are the cheapest and safes small twons to live in near big cities? I mean dirt cheap living amp; close jobs!?|176765

I am curious what are the best and cheapest small towns to live in and where to find them , websites online, surveys, etc.

  • Depends where in the world you are. If you wanna live with the _working class_ (me) there are alot of advantages, you do have to put up with crime and violence. Youre choice. I live on the outskirts of London, and although I hear about alot of stabbings and burglaries up the road, I still think I have it pretty peachy.

  • In the U.S.? There aren_t any small towns that meet your requirements for _dirt cheap_. The closer you live to a city the higher the cost of living becomes.

Safe? The suburbs (That is what small towns around a city are.) are generally safer than the inner city, but that doesn_t mean much anymore. Remember that the cheaper the living in the suburbs, the less money available for police protection.

Jobs? Very few and far between in this economy.
  • What is the best way to get from Dallas Greyhound bus station to DFW?|194924

I_m coming from Austin and I have a plane to catch in Dallas. I found a pretty cheap ticket via greyhound to Dallas, and I_m wondering the best way to get from the greyhound bus station to the DFW airport...Safely.

  • DART (Dallas Area Rapid Transit)

  • Lindsey, the best way, unfortunately, is not the cheapest way.
The best way is to take a taxi. From downtown Dallas to DFW airport is $40. If interested the number is 214-426-6262.

  • dart bus

  • There are two answers to that question. One solution is to go with convenience and call a cab. That will be more expensive, but it will get you from point to point (in your case from the Greyhound station in downtown Dallas to DFW airport) whenever you need to go without a big wait. It will be maybe 20 miles (guesstimating) so it will likely be a pretty hefty cab fare. I_m guessing it would run $35-50 at most. Find out if you terminal is closer to the north or south airport entrance to save a little money (see link). Super Shuttle could provide a shared ride at a lower price, but you may have to wait a little bit and take some extra time to pick up other passengers who are airport-bound like you.

The other option will be cheaper, but may require some patience on your part. The DART system (Dallas Area Rapid Transit) is the bus and rail system in Dallas. There is a DART hub a few blocks north of the Greyhound station (I think they call it the West End Transit Center or something close to that). From there, you can pick up a DART local bus that will take you to the TRE (Trinity Railway Express) which is a commuter train between Dallas and Ft. Worth. The TRE makes a stop at DFW airport. So you_d have a short walk from the Greyhound to the transit center, hop a bus to the TRE, board a train for DFW airport, and then you might have to get on another train (Skylink) inside the airport to shuttle you to the correct terminal. Of course you might have waits in between depending upon the schedule for each leg of the trip.

I_ve provided links to the important pieces below. Have a great trip and enjoy your little bit of time in Dallas.
  • What is the safest city in North Carolina?|192833

I plan on moving from Orange County, CA to North Carolina and would like to know from people who live in North Carolina where the safest city is in the state. Is Raleigh safe? And are there major department stores near these cities?

  • Any city in North Carolina is very safe compared to Orange County. Except some places in Greensboro are pretty shady.

Raleigh is very safe and so is Charlotte. Charlotte is a bit bigger than Raleigh though, so there is definitely more to do there.

And it depends on what you consider a major department store. There_s no H_M or anything like that, but there is Belk, Sears, JC Penney, Macy_s, Dillards, etc.

And that will DEFINITELY buy you a nice house in NC, check out

    and see for yourself.

    Good luck and happy swimming!

  • The cost of living in CA is much greater than the cost of living in N.C. Save your money for something else, THAT much money would buy you a mansion in N.C.

Try _Yahoo Neighborhoods_ for community information, population, crime rates, etc for numerous cities and states.

  • What things are there to do for a 16 and 18 year old in Atlantic City NJ?|192435

My brother and I are looking for a little three day vacation, and Atlantic City is one of our options. I know that my brother can do things that I can_t while we_re there, because he_s two years older than me. But I wanted something that both of us can do, being that Atlantic City is known for gambling.

  • There really isn_t much to do in Atlantic City during the colder months besides gambling and drinking. If you have a taste for shopping, the Walk Outlets is a great spot to shop, with big name clothing brands such as Nike and Coach. The casinos also have alot of entertainment too, such as the Showboat_s House of Blues or the Borgota (an attraction in itself). However, casino venues often require a hefty wallet. Bike rentals can be found at many casinos from 6:00am -11pm; I occasionally even bike right next to the ocean waters (no one really cares, especially when you head towards the suburbs such as Ventor and Margate.)
