What is there to do in the Rancho Cucamunga area of Californis?|110927

We are visiting relatives in Upland and would like some ideas of things to do. We will be going to Disney (of course), but teens get bored easily. Any art fairs, festivals, special shopping ideas?

  • Well there is plenty of shopping to do in the area and lots more. Within 30 minutes drive you can be at the beach, in the mountains or in Palm Springs. There is a new mall in rancho cucamonga called Victoria Gardens, has all the upscale shops like Hollisters, Urban Outfitters, Abercrombie and tons of resturants. Also Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear are a close drive. Depends on age of your kids _ what they like to do, but there is plenty.Dont know where you are coming from but the beaches are great, for teens have them go to Huntington or newport beach. The boardwalks are great and the ocean waves good for minor surfing and good boogie boarding. Upland also has a street fair I believe every Wednesday evening from like 6pm to 10 pm with bands and good food and arts and crafts. Its free (well not the food). Ok have fun there. I live there when not living here in Ukraine, you made me think of what i will do when I get back in 3 weeks. Good Luck.
  • What do you do when Travelosity makes a mistake, books a hotel on the wrong date and charges you for it ?|120267

We spent an hour booking a trip to Seatle June 07 with Travelosity in Sept 06. 15 mins latter email confirmed a hotel in Oct and flight in Nov. After another hour they canceled everything so we thought. The credit card came and $400 charged from the Hotel as no show. Now Travelosity says there is nothing they can do even though it was their mistake. After 2 more hours on the phone they say to contact Customer Service, which can only be reached by phone. Have they ever messed up things this badly for anyone else and what did you do.

  • i would call them and go off on them and have them give you ur money back!!!:)

  • panic. get stressed. shout at _puter. that_s what I do. dunno about anyone else tho

  • I would just keep calling until they resolve or if your credit card has a good policy on disputes, (like AMEX) you can always go to them and ask to reverse the charge and they will do it for you.

  • Never use them again. They are a terrible service with poor to no customer service. Next time use a real travel agent. Contact your credit card company and file a dispute and have the charges reversed.

  • I don_t want to throw salt in your wound but they are terrible service i find out just how bad it is when i get my clients from them because they were terribly displeased with service and were stranded after events such as hurricane and missed flights.

It is a great service for self help and the do it your self traveler but ultimately the support is not there. I would become a thorn in their side but disputing charges will definitely be the easiest route to go.
  • How much money should I bring when visiting Disneyland with my friends?|111596

How much money should we bring (per person)? It should be enough to pay for lunch, dinner, snacks, face painting, and a small souvenier (like a $10 thing)

  • Well let_s break it down by meal and event.

Have breakfast at your hotel - hopefully they offer a continental breakfast. You_ll have a full day of walking, so eat something that will hold you off until lunch.

Snacks at Disney, like most things, can be pricy. But plan on about $5 for your first snack of the day - say mid morning.

For lunch - this just depends one what type of meal you_d like. If you_d like something quick and easy inside of Disneyland or California Adventure, plan on $10. Although, I recommend you get your hand stamped and head over to one of the Disney Resorts or Downtown Disney for a great meal. Meals at either of these locations will cost you between $9 and $17.

Figure $5-$7 for your afternoon snack
This is a great time to head over to the Tiki Juice Bar in Adventure Land! Try a Dole Pineapple float - they are amazing!

For dinner, the same rule applies as for lunch. The only recommened restaurant within the park is The Blue Bayou , located inside the Pirates attraction (which costs about $20-$30 per person). Otherwise, you_ll want to head over to the Jazz Kitchen or Rainforest Cafe for a great meal in Downtown Disney. For Blue Bayou, I recommend you make your dining reservations in advance, by calling: 714-781-DINE. You should make a reservation for whichever restaurant you choose for dinner. Cost wise for Dinner, plan on spending about $25 per person.

For souveniers, face painting, etc.. plan on bringing about $50-$60 per person.

So all together, you_d want to bring about $100.00 or more for your Disneyland day!

    Have a great time!

  • I live in so cal and go there twice a year and we spend at least $100 per person in food, face painting, toy, snack. So better to take more to be safe than sorry.

  • Face painting? At Dis? 10$ thing? Yeah right. ok. Take a good 300.00 you_ll be ok for about a day.

  • In addition to money for meals and souvenirs, don_t forget that parking and entrance fees alone can run close to $100.00 Its a great experience to have at least once in your life time, but it isn_t cheap.

  • Well it depends on what you plan to do in Disneyland. Food and souveniers are more expensive then what you would expect. I say about $100.00 each, but it all depends on how you plan to spend your money.

  • At least $100. $200 or more is ideal. Its very expensive.

  • Bring about 200 bucks. No joke
I grew up there and visited all the time if you are only going once then you got to get it all at once. Food is expensive and souveniers are too. A balloon is like 7.50... sorry if that puts you off but its an experience of a lifetime.

  • mmm $200 or $155

  • $40-$50. It depends upon how expensive the meals are, and how many snacks you buy. But, that should do it, bare minimums.

    Have fun on your trip!

  • Disneyland is very expensive, believe me. I went with my school for a special event and it was so expensive. $100 or more should be enough. Depending on how long you will stay. Per day its about $50 at LEAST. Water, for about half the size of a regular water bottle is $3.50. And most of the snacks are around $10, if you really want a good snack. Also be prepared for long lines.

    Hope my advice helped!
  • How many days should we spend in New Orleans during Christmas?|160205

When I watched TV the other night, the government Officials encouraged tourists to visit New Orleans. They said it helped building up the economy. So, me and my friend are thinking a vacation to New Orleans during Christmas.

How many days should we spend in New Orleans? We want to see the French Quarter. But, if we go during Christmas, can we see anything? Besides the French Quarter, what else can we do? Remember we only have 3 days. We don_t want to spend too much time on traffic.

Any good eating places in New Orleans?

    Please advise. Thanks!

  • We haven_t been since the floods, but before that we went several times.....once the day after xmas. Stayed till NewYear_s eve. LOTS to do and a whole lot of fun.

Any good places to eat???? LOL.....LOTS of WONDERFUL places.

Try Mulates and some of the other well-known places. Go to a bookstore and get yourself a Fodor_s guide to New Orleans. It_s well worth the money and it_ll help you hit the good spots for sure.

Check out the garden district and the downtown areas, as well as the French Quarter. It_s fun everywhere. Be sure to take a riverboat cruise.....there_s a really good aquarium there....go to the revolving restuarant at the top of the World Tower (not sure of the name, but it_s the tallest building along the waterfront)....great shopping mall on the waterfront.

Have fun....Wish I was gonna be there, too!

  • a week or two

  • at least a week

  • i agree.. you have to stay for ATLEAST a week. Just in the French Quarter alone.. you wont be able to experience everything in just 1 week. but for a start Yall can take some tours.. just go to neworleans.com .. under 101 things.. also under tours and attractions. You can take an awesome haunted history tour .. of the french quarter.. i_d recommend going to the 8pm one...
    http://hauntedhistorytours.com/

you can also take a tour on the Natchez steam boat.. you can choose to either have lunch or dinner .. while touring the Mississippi .. and listening to some great live cajun music...

    http://www.steamboatnatchez.com/

You can go to the River Walk .. The French Market.. go grab a burger at Port of Call .. Take a carriage ride around the French Quarter while being told the history.. as for food.. Everywhere you go will have good food... you cant go wrong when you_re in the French Quarter.. just make sure you get to eat Gumbo and Jambalya before you leave. Also .. you_ll have to try Cafe Du Mondes beignets (pronounced Ben-Yays) and their coffee. If you dont experience those things.. then you haven_t expereinced New Orleans.. and once you have .. you wont want to leave..

Theres ENDLESS things to do .. so enjoy and ..

    Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

  • a week in a half for christmas and new years, better make that two weeks. eating places? hmmm....not sure, but i bet itll be fun.

  • New Orleans is a city best visited by eating your way through. You really need more than three days to _dig in_, so I would give myself 5-7 days. Stay in the French Quarter or in the nearby Marigny. This allows you to walk around most of the time and still not be far from your base. You could rent a car for only part of your visit while you explore outside the Quarter.

For the Quarter, there is much to do. Of course you can go to all the bars, but let_s put that aside right now. Give yourself a day for shopping. There are antique shops, tourist shops, and assorted art shops on Royal Street and Chartres Street. There is also some interesting shopping along Decatur by the French Market.

For traditional creole cuisine, go to Galatoire_s, Arnaud_s, Brennan_s, Gumbo Shop, or Antoine_s. For other Louisiana fare, go to NOLA, Palace Cafe, GW Fins, Bourbon Oyster House, Irene_s Cuisine, or Stella. Have Beignets at Cage Du Monde, or have a full breakfast at Cafe Beignet or Petunia_s. There are so many restaurants in the French Quarter you would never have to leave the area to eat.

Other activities include: take a ride on a streetcar to the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) in City Park. The museum is nice and is in a beautiful setting at City Park. City Park also has the Celebration in the Oaks event during the holidays. It is a nighttime display of lights and other holiday festivities. Magazine Street in Uptown has nearly five miles of shopping and dining. Mafazine is best accessed by having a car, so you can stop where you want and walk around. The Audubon Zoo is in Audubon Park by Tulane and Loyola Universities. By the way, you will drive through uptown and the garden district to ge to the zoo. Spend some time driving around in the garden district, it has some of the finest 19th century architecture around.

This should be enough to grab your interest. New Orleans is still the greatest place in the country to visit, maybe even live! Good luck!

  • Blow the 3 days I say 4every and a day ..have fun and eat plenty...PeAcE
