Where are some good places to go in Milwuakee?|149090

My husband and I are planning a getaway from the city in Chicago and plan on going to Milwaukee. Any ideas as to what we can do there. Keep in mind that we have an 11 year old son.

  • The Zoo is a neat place.
Brewers games are always fun, but all of their upcoming home games are almost sold out. I_m sure if you went in the afternoon before a game, you might be able to get 3 tickets. And, seeing your coming from Chicago, you might even get to see the Cubs who come to Milwaukee from July 28th to the 31st. :)

  • How about the zoo?
  • How do you get a working visa for abroad?|140494

Hello, can someone help me please? I was wondering how you get a working visa to work abroad in other countries. (I live in the UK and want to work in America).

    Thank you for any help.

  • G_day,

I believe you will need a work permit/visa.

You should begin the process prior to your departure.

If the company you plan to work for asks for you specifically, this should help.

    Good luck!

  • To get a work visa for the US you need to apply to the American Embassy in the UK. You need a valid passport to do so.
  • How much do I need for a Hawaii vacation?|140096

I am trying to plan my first vacation and I have no idea how much money i will need to go. Anyone have any ideas?

  • My husband and I went to Oahu Feb. 2008. I rented our car online when I booked our flight, and also booked our sunset dinner cruise online and the day at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We took $2000 cash with us to have and we used pretty much all of it on food, souvenirs, gas for the car, etc.

  • Well your first step is to figure out how much your flights and hotel will cost (try using sites like Travelocity or Expedia where you can sometimes get good package deals). Add a rental car cost in if you are planning to get one (you can do that on the travel sites as well). Then, depending on what you want to do while you are there, add at least $1,000 per week for spending money to do all the touristy stuff, shop, eat, etc.

My husband and I spent a week on Oahu, and rented a condo rather than a hotel room, and we had a rental car. The condo probably saved us a little bit of money because we could eat in sometimes and save on eating out at restaurants. We did a handful of touristy stuff, usually ate one meal out per day, and spent the rest of our time just hanging out on the beach, or driving around/finding places we could go for a walk and enjoying the scenery. We had about $1,000 spending money for the week and managed to do just fine. We probably could have spent more on other touristy things we didn_t get to, but we did ok without.

  • Yes it does depend on where you go but also where you book. I use a corporate travel broker every time I go to Hawaii _ I_ve saved a ton. They have room packages prepaid that they buy in bulk - packages that don_t get used are sold to the public for dirt cheap. You can get 5-8 days for $400 or $500!

If you_re on a budget, definitely check out this site.

They also have an Oahu Fun Pass _ it lets you do some REALLY cool stuff all for free. Well, the pass is $150 but each activity is usually around $50 _ you can use it an unlimited # of times as many activities as you want so it_s a great deal.

You can snorkel, kayak, check out Iolani palace, take the Diamond Head tour, Catamaran ride - _ all kinds of cool stuff. The tours in Hawaii are usually MUCH more fun than you_d expect _ you can get off the beaten path with many of them.

I included the link that shows the Oahu hotel package but if you want the 8 day package or just want the Fun Pass info just click that instead - Good luck!

  • The minimum for a decent, enjoyable stay on oahu would be:
$100/night for hotel, $80/night at the Hale Koa if you_re military
$35/day for a rental car (which you don_t really need because oahu has fantastic public transportation)
or $40/person for a monthly bus pass plus $50 each way from the airport for taxi
    $60/person/day for food
    Money for shopping
Money for attractions and misc., some of which include:
Polynesian cultural center ($120/person for admission + luau)
    Paradise cove luau ($40/person)
    Hanauma bay (snorkeling)
    Catamaran cruises
    Surfboard rentals
    Skydiving
    Parasailing
    Kayaking
    Etc.

  • How much spending money will I need when visiting Florida?|123757

I will be in Florida for 2 weeks and will not be renting a car, so will need to pay for taxi_s and public transport. I will also need to buy all my meals and would like to do a little bit of clothes shopping whilst i_m out there.

  • That is a really difficult question to answer!

You can use the LYNX public transport that is really cheap and you can get passes for 7 or 30days too. Information/Prices/Schedules here
    http://www.golynx.com/?id=1155574

If you plan carefully you might be able to do everything on the LYNX.

I would take a credit card if you have one as you can pay with virtually everything on card.

The $64000 question is how much you will be spending and with all the shopping here
    http://www.orlandotouristinformationbure
you might need to budget for loads!!!!

If you are going to the Parks then most hotels will do a free shuttle bus for you too.

You will have a great time but you will need to travel lots to get the best out of the World_s greatest holiday destination.

  • You do not say where you are staying, what plans you have when you are there. as in are you going into disney or universal parks or neither. I never use a hire car and i find transport really cheap. Inside disney transport is free. Food is also cheap to eat out. But you may get into the shopping bug. It really cheap there. if you was going on a budget I am sure you could manage quite happily for 2 weeks and have a great time eating well on 600 around $1200.

You will have a great time...

  • difficult to answer this without knowing what kind of things you_re planning to do. You write as though it_s only you going and have said nothing about accommodation while you_re there, so I have to assume you_re camping or staying with friends or are otherwise sorted and budgeted for. The budget is the other factor you make no mention of, but anyway here goes.
If you are mainly about shopping and eating but not too much in the way of theme parks then you would probably get away with about 350-500 as you can eat pretty cheaply, public transport is quite reasonable and there are lots of factory shops/malls where you can get all kinds of cheap clothing as well as fairly priced label stuff.
If you_re taking the Florida theme park route then invest in one of the multi-park deals such as a Hopper 7or 14 day pass. They give you more freedom in terms of spreading your visits which makes it less stressful as trying to do a whole theme park in one day is incredibly tiring. There is a great deal to see and do so a bit of research and decision making as to what you really want to see and do versus what you think you_d lilke to do will save a bit of time. If you_re looking to do this type of Florida holiday then I reckon you would need to up the budget to around 800.
Keep a close eye on the dollar rate of exchange too, at the moment of course it is still pretty strong but if we hit any more Nothern Rock type scenarios it may have an impact on the the strenght of the pound.
I hope this helps a little. We went there last about 3 years ago, rented a lovely villa in Kissimmee and had the best holiday we_ve ever had, it was the last big family holiday with our 2 sons (they_re too _old_ now), and we had a fantastic time. If you_ve never been, I would recommend Sea World, Kennedy Space Centre and Gatorland as must sees along with Universal Studios (but I_m a big movie fan). Ripley_s Believe It Or Not is also an entertaining time, good for an afternoon or pre-shopping session. Florida Mall has great shopping and International Drive offers restaurants services to suit just about every taste and budget. Have a fab time, oh and don_t forget you don_t just need sun cream you_ll also need a brolly they have mega electrical storms with pounding rain and they have them pretty frequently. They are spectacular for their lightening displays but you will get wet (on a more positive note even their rain is warm).
    Lol.

  • A lot!!

  • As much as possbile. Orlando is a fun town. You can do it on a budget. Just depends. Do some reading at places like
    http://www.OrlandoFunTickets.com
    and
    http://www.MiceChat.com

  • Not as much as last year. What with the devalued dollar at 2 to the pound you are on a winner. Think what you would need in London for the same holiday and you will have some change.

  • me oh my that_s kinda a broad question cause i have NO idea how much shopping you will be doing or how often you use a taxi or what kind of restaurants you_lle be eating at. And so I won_t be able to tell you how much $$$$ to bring if i don_t know all that :-( sorry

  • It all depends on the area that you choose to travel in. In regards to dining and lodging, anywhere near the coast is much more expensive. Thankfully, there are plenty of lower end eateries and hotels/motels. In regards to shopping, look for the Outlet Malls if you can. I am quite sure these Outlet Malls are everywhere near any major city throughout the state. The ones in the Orlando area are surprisingly cheaper than going to the many malls that offer the same items. I take the 35 minute drive to Orlando_s Outlets anytime I go shopping, which is usually two to three times a year, as I do not enjoy shopping one bit. (Thank you retailers for offering on line accounts and deliveries) Hope you have a great, and safe time here filled with wonderful memories to take back with you dear. Jen
  • What is there to do between Arkansas and Arizona?|190065

Some friends and I are taking a _road trip_ to the Grand Canyon. We_ll be driving from NW AR through OK, TX and NM to AZ... We will have a few extra days to goof off a little. Any suggestions on what to do?

  • Depends how much time you have...
Arkansas has the diamond mines (where you can mine your own diamonds)
    There_s Hot Springs.
    Oklahoma has Arbuckle Wilderness
You can stop at the border or Ark/Tex (Texarkana) for a picture (see link below)
Oklahoma has a lot of native american places/museums and a nice Art musuem.
New Mexico has Taos and Santa Fe and Alburqueque which are all really nice. There are the sandhills over there too.
When you_re at the grand canyon, you can take tours down inside. (take a peak at google earth for a tour)
Kinda out-of-the-way north of the canyon is the meteor crater.
I_ve been on this trip several times - it_s pretty long but easy to be spontaneous.

  • i dont know what there is to do really but dont speed through West TX or you WILL get a ticket

  • Check out Santa Fe and Taos N. M. Lot_s of scenery, great food, and loads of history. Also a couple of nice casinos in the area if you are interested in those. You will have a great trip !!
