What is a fun but farely cheap place to visit on the east coast?|139130

I live in WV but can_t afford to go to West coast but would love to. I_ve visited NYC and loved it - I was thinking Boston but not sure.

  • Philadelphia...we have the liberty bell, betsy ross_s house, ben franklin_s house, loads of museums _ art galleries, shopping. Our suburbs have beautiful parks, William Penns house, Washintons Crossing.....the list goes on!

  • Boston, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Atlanta
  • Is renting a limo from the airport to my hotel really worth it?|162331

I have waited in long taxi lines before in vegas and found them really unjoyable. I don_t mind paying a little extra if it is worth while. We get to vegas at 5pm on a saturday, and there are four of us staying and the MGM. If you do think its worth the money what is the best limo service? Or should I spend my hard earned money another way?

  • As others have stated, a limo to the MGM is an expensive 5 minute drive that would run you about $45-50.

Another mentioned a shuttle. X-nay that idea unless the taxi line is an hour wait. I doubt that on a Saturday evening. That shuttles are about $5-6 each. If there are 4 of you that_s
    $20-24.

Taxi - The Taxi Authority has it estimated at $12.30 to MGM. If the taxi line is short the fare may still be a little higher because of traffic on Tropicana on a Saturday night. Just tell the driver NO TUNNEL or it will cost you double plus. If he does tunnel you then get his name and number from his permit hanging in the cab, the cab company and cab number. DON_T tip him and let him know you are reporting him. Then call the Taxicab Authority and report the driver.

If you really like the idea of a limo, and yes I_ve done the limo and enjoyed the experience, then here_s another suggestion.

At your beginning location where you are boarding the plane and while you are waiting for your luggage, see if you can find 1-2 other passenger(s) that are also staying at MGM. If they don_t have other transportation arranged they maybe interested in sharing a Limo ride and expense. I_ve successfully done that to Paris. I believe the maximum for a limo is 6 passengers. It still is a little more than a taxi shared 4 ways but it does get a little extra attention when arriving. Since I am a women..._flattery is wonderful_. ; o )

  • It is abslolutely worth it- the lines are so long at the airport for a cab it looks like a line at an amusement park. Getting back to the airport however the lines are much shorter from the hotels- and i don_t think you need a ride to the airport. But when you arrive have a limo or towncar waiting. I_m going to vegas on tues. and have always booked a limo. I_m having a pickup at the airport, with a liquor store stop and dropoff at the palms i have a 6 passenger limo for one hour and it_s $53.00- a town car would be cheaper. You can get an online quote form lasvegaslimotransportation.com or maybe it_s lasvegastransportation.com, or you can them for reservations at 1800-621-1535. They are a reputable company that has driven for michael jordan during the all star games, amongst other celebs. Definitely get the limo or a towncar- it is worth every penny, and actually not that pricey- considering you_d be paying at least $8-17 anyways, plus your valuable time. Best of luck

  • Only you can answer that question. However, you might also look into shuttle services [e.g. Super Shuttle] or perhaps your hotel offers a shuttle service.

Go to the airport website and look for _ground transportation_ for info on what_s available for how much.

  • For crying out loud, you can throw a stone and hit the Strip from the Airport. Take the shuttle buses for the quick 5 minute trip. A limo is overkill. For that kind of money you can rent a car for a week.

  • Hello,

yes limos are worth it, and they_re cheaper in vegas
    find one at
    http://www.LimoXonline.com

  • Before you pay to rent a lime, check with the MGM because they probably have a free shuttle if you are going to be a guest in their hotel. Most do. And I bet the limo is no cheaper or faster than the taxi.

  • The limo line is a lot shorter. I live in Vegas, we gave up on the taxis a long time ago. Yes, a limo is more expensive but what is your time worth ?

  • I would say it_s up to you. Personally, I would just take a cab and spend my money on something that would make me happy for more than a half an hour.

  • the mgm is as close to the airport as you can get.....sat nite at 5 the cab lines should not be bad.....with 4 people take a cab....

  • Limos are a fun way to go but most hotels have shuttles. Guess it just depends on you

  • It honestly depends on how mch money you want to spend. I personally like to spend my money on other things.

  • Whats the best neighborhood for young professsionals in Dallas?|175414

I am a 22 y.o. student graduating in a few weeks and relocating to the Dallas area for work. I will be working in Plano but want to live closer to the city near other young professionals. I have heard rent is pretty high in Uptown/Downtown. Where is a good place to live outside of these areas with affordable (under $1000 for 1bed) rents?

  • You_d have the best of both worlds in Plano or Frisco ... very nice towns, with good shopping, restaurants _ housing - low crime rates - and just a short drive to downtown Dallas....

  • My daughter who is a single, young professional lives and works in Plano. She loves it. She has a large, very nice 1 BR apt. near Preston _ Park (across the street from million dollar homes, literally). $850 a month at LaVentura Apt. My neice is a single, young professional who lives in Uptown and pays over $1,100 for less sq. ft., but it_s nice there too. So either Plano or Uptown would be a nice, safe place for a young woman to live. Welcome to the area.

  • Addison is a great place to live. It is on the Tollway right to Downtown. I have lived here for 8 yrs. $10 lifetime membership to the Athletic center.

    Best of luck
  • What helicopter tour should my family and i take if we go to Maui?|186324

I_ve been looking into Blue Hawaiian and they sound interesting but which area should we do and which type of helicopter should we ride in? This website will help http://www.bluehawaiian.com/maui/tours/
Thanks for your time and help.

  • Blue Hawaiian Helicopter is a first-class company whose helicopters have large windows and individual luxury seats (not bench seats). They fly big modern Eco-Star helicopters that hold six passengers, so that is the type of helicopter you should ride in. As far as which area of Maui to see by helicopter, I suggest the Haleakala crater and the rainforest on the way to Hana.

There is a comparison of the various Maui helicopter companies on this page:

    http://www.mauihawaii.org/maui-activitie

  • I highly recommend Blue Hawaiian. They have the BEST safety record on the islands and also fly the new Eco-Star choppers (make sure you ask for one) that are extremely comfortable and offer great visibility, even if you have one of the two inner seats (the back row is 4 seats).. We have flown them twice and while there are cheaper services, I go with the best!!

  • Can a tourist use their drivers license while visiting the US?|141220

Hi, a friend of mine from Mexico is staying in Iowa for a couple of weeks for work training. She wants to rent a car and come to visit me to Minnesota during the weekend. She has her valid drivers license from Mexico with her, but we were wondering if this is all she needs or she needs to get some other kind of permission, if so, how and where to go? Thanks in advance.

  • She should also get an International Drivers License. And IDL is only valid when accompanied with a driver_s license issued by the owner_s home jurisdiction. It will have all of the information on it translated into English, so a police officer in this country would be able to read it.

  • Thanks, very complete. She came to visit me using just her mexican drivers license, the international license is a good idea, but I_ve heard they are kind of expensive and she would only stay here for a couple of weeks, so didn_t seem to be worth it. Well, thanks again and have a nice weekend!
