How many hours is the difference between Minnesota and New York?|150725

New York is 1 hour ahead of Minnesota.

  • Where to stay while traveling to Boston for a Sox game then off to Maine for a week?|125527

We are rookies in Boston and wondering how difficult the public transportation situation is in Boston. How far north could we stay out of town and still use public transporation to the Sox night game? Also any suggestions for an inexpensive hotel north of Boston on the public transportation line.

  • You could easily stay north of Boston - and save HUGE money on a Hotel. Say if you stayed in Woburn (about 15 minutes outside of Boston) you could jump on the train or commuter rail to get into town. I would not suggest to stay in Boston or you_ll be paying through your nose - And hey, you_ll be doing that at Fenway anyway so better to save your money in other ways! I would look for Hotels in either Woburn, Stoneham, or Medford - They are all on Rt 93 which is the way to Boston. Have fun!!

  • Midtown Hotel is about the cheapest and it_s across the strret from the 55 bus, that goes right to Fenway Park.

  • stay at the tilton manor in titlton, NH. say hi to kirk for me.

  • You can stay as far north as Newburyport, MA and ride the commuter rail to Boston North Station, then get on the green line to Fenway.

There are no motels close to the commuter rail station in Newburyport though, you would need to take a cab.

Newburyport is near the MA, NH boarder - Maine is ~20 miles up I95.

    Look at MBTA.COM

  • As long as the game doesn_t last much past 10 PM, you could stay in Maine and take the Amtrak Downeaster to Boston North Station. Then take the MBTA (subway) Green line to Kenmore Station then a 2 minute walk to Fenway.

  • What is the difference between the two Observatories at the Empire State Building in NYC?|136039

What is difference between the 102nd story and the 86th story observatory? Other than the fact that one is higher up, of course. =) Do you get the same experience from both? It costs $15 more to go to the 102nd story. Is it worth it?

  • The observatory on the 102d floor is entirely enclosed while the one on the 86th floor is open-air. That is the one that you usually see in films and such. I don_t thibnk that the trip to the higher level is worth an extra $15. You really aren_t going to see anything more from the higher level, unless it is important to you to see faraway landscapes.

  • As far as I know, the 102nd floor observation deck has been closed for some time, maybe since 9/11. However, the 86th floor observatory has been open for years, and may cost a New York premium but the outstanding view is well worth the price. Also, the 102nd floor part is enclosed, while the 86th floor deck is open-air.
  • What are some fun things to do in west palm beach ? How is the night life there ?|134679

  • What do you think is going to happen to Universals Marvel Superhero island @ Islands of Adventure ?|116534

Now That Disney owns the rights to all Marvel characters and related merchandise, what_s going to happen to Marvel Superhero Island at Universal_s Island of Adventure theme park? New theme with all-new rides perhaps, or will they just slap a new paint job on the already existing attractions?

  • The Orlando Sentinel had an article about the contract. The contract is basically that Universal has exclusive rights to use the characters in perpetuity, as long as they maintain the Marvel Island. If they rethemed the island, they would have to retheme everything. But I can_t imagine that they would consider that for an extremely long time, if ever. So what they have, they will keep.

  • Universal has an existing contract with Marvel for, I believe, at least four headliner characters. As I understand it, the license for their use in the park is _virtually perpetual_, but most likely at least for another 10 years or so (this is a _best guess_, details aren_t necessarily known publically). Disney, in purchasing Marvel, has to honor those agreements still... just that now Disney is actually making a few bucks off it. Win-win for the mouse.

  • Spider-Mickey and the Incredible Pluto coming soon!
  • What is the best movie theatre in New York City?|126753

My friends and I are going to NYC for a couple of nights. We are staying in Manhattan for a few nights.

We are planning to watch _Watchmen_, but don_t know which theatre to go to. Can anyone suggest a few for me? Thanks

  • ^ AMC Loews at Lincoln Sq (68th st). just as big, not as crowded.

  • lowes theater on 34th street, any of the two forgot the exact names...but they are on 42nd...right across from each other...

  • I prefer AMC Loews Lincoln Square
  • Where is a nice spot in the mountains in the San Fernando Valley?|112252

I have heard that there are really nice viewpoints somewhere around winnetka/topanga and the 118 freeway. I just can_t find them and all the overlooks close to ventura blvd are way too populated.

  • First off, now_s not a great time to get panoramic views of the valley. The smog is bad this time of year.

I was going to say Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills, which straddles the ridge and gives you great vistas of most of LA on one side, and the valley on the other side. But you said the north side of the valley.

Take the 118 to Reseda Blavd, Tampa Ave, or Porter Ranch Dri. head north to Sesnon Blvd. There are a number of parks up there, and even a short trail off Limekiln Canyon Road up into the hills where you can get great views after a storm.

You might also try Browns Canyon. Take the DeSoto offramp, then go north a few miles there_s even an old missile complex up there.

If you want _unpopulated_ views, you might have to do a little hiking.

  • Go to the end of DeSoto under the freeway...go up the hill and then down into a sweet little canyon. Winnetka stops into a gated community. You might want to explore Topanga Canyon also go under the freeway up and over that little hill and that is kinda nice too.
