What made the disney company merge the worldshowcase half of epcot and the futureworld part together?|108208

I watched a documentary on Disney World and it said that future world and world showcase were both two different ideas for a theme park and i was just wondering what made them merge the two ideas. in my opinion they are nothing alike.

  • i watched the same one.

    what i am guessing is:
    1. they didnt want to make 2 separate parks
    2. they both deal with the world, life, and culture, so it seemed best to put them together.

EPCOT stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow

community i guess is the world showcase part and tomorrow is the futureworld part

  • Walt Disney innovated the not-traveling carnival called Disneyland.Epcot is a World_s Fair that never stops.Epcot is a combination of human (World Showcase) and corporate (Innoventions) values. Two Epcots would lead to the failure of the corporate one because humans do not hold corporate values.

Walt Disney wanted a balance of corporate and human values. Most have Walt Disney_s view of corporations but a few are libertarian which is a corporate philosophy. One theory why women earn less than men is that they hold human values higher than corporate values.

  • I think they did it to have some variety at epcot...
    and to make it bigger.
at worldshowcase, they dont have big rollercoasters. but in futureworld, they have a lot of stuff to do there for kids.
epcot is considered _the adult park_, so they probably wanted something for the kids (older kids obviously) to do while the adults are having fun at worldshowcase.
basically, when you put these two worlds together, you make a great themepark.

  • I think the idea of putting these two concepts together came from the Worlds Fairs that had been going on since the mid 1800_s. Two of the major features of these fairs were displays of technological inventions and advancements, and national pavilions showing the culture of various countries.

  • Neither was working separately. They couldn_t figure out what was missing and then someone noticed they fit together so they moved the model together and viola, it worked.

  • Both parks on their own were too small. For this reason they merged the two into one larger park.
I agree they are nothing alike.
  • What are some hipster neighborhoods in San Francisco and Chicago?|106118

Every big city has them. In Los Angeles they_re Silver Lake and Echo Park. In New York it_s Williamsburg (and some other parts of Brooklyn). I_m not too familiar with Chicago and San Francisco, so what are the quintessential hipster neighborhoods in those cities? If there are hipster neighborhoods in some other cities (D.C., Baltimore, Miami...?, St. Louis...?) I_d like to hear about those too!

  • The hipster stronghold in San Francisco is the Mission District. Hipsters hang out in other parts of the city but this the primary location.

  • I_d imagine all you_d have to do is get an updated one from a Masschusetts DMV..

  • Go to any Mass DMV location and tell them you need to get a MA license. Bring in your Maine license and a copy of your official birth certificate (in case they ask to see it)

  • How long does it take to transfer between Chicago Ohare concourse C and concourse E?|125029

I have a short connection (1 hour) - will I have to go through security? How long does the transfer take between the concourses?

  • It_s going to take a while. You have to go through the tunnel from C to B... then walk through B.... then transfer terminals... then re-enter security....

    You should just fly direct.

  • .

  • One hour should be fine. 30 minutes is worst case to get from Concourse C in Terminal 1 to Concourse E in Terminal 2. You will have to walk a ways, but you don_t have to be a perfect physical specimen to make in on time.

Connections between Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are all beyond the security checkpoint, so you won_t have to worry about having to get do TSA again unless you do end up leaving the terminal.

And that will happen if you try to take the PeopleMover trains between terminals. At least you won_t have to walk between terminals, but you_ll have to get past TSA again.

  • It shouldn_t take that long, you won_t hve that far to go. I_d say about 30 minutes, tops. (depending, of course, on what time of day your arrive, what day of the week, etc. For instance, if you were transferring at 10 p.m. on a Tuesday, it probably wouldn_t be that difficult to get from one to the other.)

  • Anyone who tells you 30 minutes is a true optimist.

    A. It_s a long walk and depending on the time of day you may have some _people traffic_ slowing you down.

    B. You have to go through another security check point and depending on the time of day and the number of screeners and machines, that alone can take 1/2 hour, especially if they pull you aside for _special screening_.

    C. Concourse E is no little place. You may have a 10-15 minute jog if your plane is at the end of the concourse.

    D. You actually have to be on the plane a minute before they close the doors or some of the airlines will refuse to board you.

You might be able to do it in an hour, especially between 11 am-1 pm or after 8 pm and before 4 am. But the rest of the day is a crap shoot. But then, this is why I prefer flying out of Midway whenever I can.
