What are some things to do in New York City that are very little known?|167973

We go to New York a lot and we pretty much have seen every main attraction. We_ve seen the museums, Broadway, and all the touristy spots. Are there any little known spots in any borough of the city that could provide a fun family activity?

  • You can:

Go to the Zoo in Flushing Meadows/Corona Park. Most people only care about the Bronx Zoo. In the Queens Zoo, you can see some animals, and on the other side, there is a farm where you can feed some of the animals there.

To get to that Zoo, you can take the 7 train, get off at the Willets Point/Citi Field stationm, walk to Flushing Meadows and you can follow the signs to get to the zoo.

If you like playing sports, the park on Shore Road in Bay Ridge is great. It_s huge, it has a lot of baseball fields, some basketball courts and tennis courts, and its right off the water so it_s always cooler there.

To get there, you can take the N down to 59th st, and walk west towards the water.

Or you can take the R and get off at Bay Ridge Boulevard, 77th st, 86th st or 95th st, walk west and you_ll get to the park on shore road.

Prospect Park is another cool place. You can take a nice long walk around the park. There is a zoo in the park, there is a lake where you can rent paddle boats and canoes and head out on the lake, plus there is a section of the park that has a carousel and a couple of other things.

Right next to Prospect Park, there is the Botanical Gardens and the Brooklyn Museum.

To get to Prospect Park, you can:

Take the B/Q to the 7th Avenue Station or the Prospect Park Station.

Take the F/G and get off either at the 7th Avenue station, or the 15th St.- Prospect Park station.

Or you can take the 2/3 to the Grand Army Plaza station or the Eastern Parkway/Brooklyn Museum station.

  • Try a rooftop bar/restaurant at sunset. 230 5th comes to mind... Very memorable.

  • What is there to do for FREE in Kansas City during the DAY for a young married couple?|168747

I_m not interested in nightlife, and I don_t want a list of restaurants/movie theatres. I need to know what to do during the day for free or really cheap. We are kind of new to the area so we_re friendless at the moment. Luckily we have each other.

  • The Nelson-Atkins Art Museum is lots of fun. I haven_t been in a while but I believe it is free on Fridays. You can walk around on The Plaza, visit Crown Center. Walk around on Westport. There are lots of things to do in KC during the day. I hope this helps!! :)

  • Check the website for the city of Kansas City and I don_t know what city you_re talking about since there_s one in both Missouri and Kansas.

  • Is it okay to bring a camera to a broadway show?|191069

I_m going to the city tomorrow, and I_ll have a camera with me. I_ll be seeing a broadway show and I have no intention of recording it. Will the theater be fine with this as long as I_m not recording? And if not, will I be able to leave it somewhere safe?

  • It is absolutely okay if you have a camera in your purse or pocket at a broadway show!! Getting it confiscated is all nonsense. They don_t even usually check bags. I see shows quite frequently, and I always bring a camera with me to take pictures at the stage door. As long as you don_t have the camera out in the theatre, there isn_t a problem.

  • Uh...no. It_s NOT okay to take cameras into shows.

That should be common sense! The shows are copyrighted.

You aren_t generally allowed to bring cameras into most live performances!

I believe they confiscate them, when you enter, if they see them.

And if you were to use a flash, they would definitely remove it. That is a major distraction to the actors and the audience alike. And so many cameras automatically use their flash....

  • I don_t think so. My family and I went to a show a few years ago, and there was a girl below us. She was taking photos and it was funny because the performer actually pointed it out and people began laughing, but yeah, I wouldn_t recommend bringing a camera. Leave it in the hotel room maybe?

Well, if ur not using it, then maybe it wouldnt be a problem, but id leave it home or at the hotel anyway.

  • It is illegal, they say that at the begining of the show but if you don_t get caught and post it on the internet it is illegal for cops to arrest you without letting you know to take it down.

  • I brought one because it was my aniversary....BUT just to take pictures before the show inside the teather....I think its kind of rude when their flashing in the middle of the show.....so defenetely NO NO..
