What city do you fly into to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY?|123111

Want to plan a trip there and am not sure if Syracuse, Albany, or another city has the closest airport. Thanks!

  • i am not sure if utica still has flights. if so, it is the closest. if not, the other poster is correct.

  • Albany. There is an airport in Binghamton also, but there are fewer flights and it_s about the same distance as Albany. But it_s good to keep in mind if Albany times don_t work or if you_re coming from the west - Binghamton would be about half an hour shorter flight if you_re coming from the west.

  • Albany is closest major airport (70 miles). Cooperstown in the middle of nowhere. The drive through upstate NY is pleasant enough. If you stay overnight, bring something to entertain yourself. The town closes after dark.
  • What area of land is north of alaska and canada?|123885

we have this 60 question open book test.
and it_s like questions from the whole book. and i can_t find any of the answers. we only have 2 class periods to do it, and i_ve already taken up one of them and i didn_t get even half way through it.
and that_s just one of the questions that i can actually remember. so yeah.

  • I smell one of those dumb-*ss trick questions by a liberal teacher. The answer will be somethng stupid like _Oomoo Island, the indigenous homeland of the Mukluk Tribe of the Inuit People_. Or else, the answer could be something not quite geographically accurate, like _Greenland_. Most of Greenland is north of Alaska and Canada, but not all.

Go to the library and get a globe. There is a Canadian island group nearly at the geographic north pole, but the cheap globe I have does not give the name. I really suspect that is the answer, and the teacher is claiming it to be an independent tribal nation. Let me know when you find out the correct answer.

  • Ice my friend. I have been North of Alaska - there is only ice. If you go far enough North you start going South to Greenland.

  • Siberia in Russia and the North Pole.
  • What kind of lines are there for general ticket holders visiting Disneys El Capitan Theater in Hollywood?|120623

We_re thinking about visiting El Capitan Theater in Hollywood, and don_t want to spend the extra money for VIP tickets. The web site recommends arriving at least an hour before show time to get seats. Is that really necessary? How bad is the crowd? There would be 8 of us, but all teenage or older, so we don_t need all the seats in the same row.

  • If they say recommend an hour, they are probably right. you have to take into consideration, Traffic, Parking, getting your seats and all those other things that _Always_ seem to go wrong when you want to do something at a specific time.

  • The past two shows I_ve been to, that 1 hour is just about right. The last show (Hannah Montana), we have VIP tix, and got there just as the box office was opening. There was already a considerable line (This is Friday morning before 10 AM, just so you know).

So yeah, an hour is about right. Maybe more on Saturday and Sunday.

  • We saw a show there a couple of months ago on a Sat afternoon. The movie had been out for a couple of months at that point. There was plenty of seating for us just to walk up and get the tickets. The theater may have been 1/3 full.

If you are planning on going to see a new release, than you need to get there earlier.

  • How hard is it to find a good serving job in Maui?|194546

I am planning to move to Maui within the next two months. I_ve been a server (not find dining) for about 4 years, and I was just curious as to how easy or difficult it would be for me to find a job. Also, I don_t know how good the money will be. I know that living out there is expensive...

  • Most people in the service industry don_t make alot of money there and room rents are very expensive. Most people end up rooming with several others who can share the rent.

There_s always a shortage of good servers in most of the hotels in Lahaina on the west side of the island as well as the hotels on the SE side of the island in Makena.

You may also find some serving jobs in Kahului in the North central part of the island.

Hana is a beautiful part of the island on the east side, but there_s only the Hana Hotel and most tourists don_t eat or stay there because it_s VERY expensive.

As for other expenses...gas is about $5(+) per gallon and food is about 20%-30% more expensive in the stores.

As Jessica mentioned, speaking a second language is very helpful, especially Japanese, Korean, Polynesian, or French.

  • Where there is tourism there is a need for servers. Lahaina is where you_ll find most of the tourism on Maui, and hence, many restaurants and bars. Wailea, Kahului and to a lesser extent, Kihei will also be places where you_ll find opportunities.

If you have experience, it_ll help. I_ve talked to many people from the mainland who had stories not unlike yours and made the transition.

Of course it_s very expensive, but I_m sure you know all about that, it_s no secret at all.

  • Its not hard to find a job, Its just hard to find a good one. You can work at a resort or get paid to fish or something, but if you are looking for a gig that will help you pay the rent, don_t even try. Prices are crazy and jobs don_t pay well there. Its just not practical.

  • It shouldn_t be too hard - there_s a lot of restaurants on Maui from Fine dining to Casual to Hotel and Fast Food. They need great people that are dependable and have a good attitude. Maui is a nice place to live but like you mentioned cost of living is pretty high. Good luck!

  • if you speak a 2nd language, very easy
  • Where is the best value for tanning in Madison, Wisconsin?|157117

I need to get some tanning in between now and the end of May (maybe even early June). I don_t want a commitment any longer than that because I_m moving. Given this information, where is the most economical (best value) place to go tanning in Madison, Wisconsin?

  • outside, in the summer, it_s free

  • in the sun
  • Which island in the Florida Keys is the best to visit?|131999

My friends and I are taking a trip to Florida, and we_d like to spend some of our time down in the Keys. I_ve heard great things, but I_ve never been before and have no idea which island is nicest and has the most to do. Key West seems to be the most popular, but Islamorada looks stunning in photos, too...

    Help? Thank you!

  • I think it kind of depends what you want to do. If you want to:

    See the sights: Key West
Lay on the beach and snorkel: Bahia Honda State Park
    Camp: Bahia Honda/Long Key
Glass bottom boat tour: Key Largo

  • Generally, Key West tends to be the more popular than Islamorada. I_ve been down to Key West before, and personally, I liked it. If it_s possible try to go to both places, but if you_re on a budget and want to go to only one city I would rather much pick Key West.
