How can I travel from West Hollywood to Anaheim?|154751

My husband and I are staying at Hotel Angeleno, and we would like to go on a day tour that is advertised. It leaves Anaheim@9am and takes 11hrs...this is our first trip to the US, can anyone give me tips of how to get there and back in these hours?

  • Just get on the 5 freeway and go south. When you see disneyland and the Matterhorn sticking up you are in anaheim. good luck. Lots of mapping sites on line that will show you the way and google earth will litterally fly you along your route to give you the idea.

Which is the best place to see fall season around NJ ?|156542

I am planning to take my parents to see this year_s beautiful fall season. We wanted to see the nature where trees change their leaves color to yellow / Maroon.

I need to see this nature change and cherish them with beautiful pictures as well.

I heard if we take I-287 north we get to see this places ? Any other locations ? even if it is 2-3 hours from bergen county, NJ is fine.

    Let me know.

  • If you are willing to drive 2-3 hours, take them for a drive along the Potomac River, or you can go to New Hope on the Pensylvania side of the Deleware. That area is really pretty. OR, even better, take them to Lancaster, PA to the Amish Country.. NOW THAT IS THE VERY VERY VERY BEST!

I am from Southern NJ and know all the good spots.

  • delaware water gap ..................

    A River and its Valley

For 40 miles the Middle Delaware River passes between low forested mountains with barely a house in sight. Then the river cuts through the mountain ridge to form the famed _Water Gap._ Exiting the park, the river will run 200 miles more to Delaware Bay and the Atlantic Ocean at Wilmington, Delaware.

There_s still more to do; this valley has been a home for thousands of years, and dozens of historic structures dot the park_s scenic byways. Step back to the year 1900 at Millbrook Village (left), open weekends in summer. In October, a hundred volunteer _villagers_ bring the place alive for Millbrook Days.

  • What are the best places/states to visit in the USA?|151593

I am planning a trip to the USA and want to experience the best it has to offer.

  • Plan a very long trip because there are so many places. Depends greatly on whether you want to see the land for historical value or scenic beauty. New York is always a prime destination and Philadelphia as well as Washington DC where you can see many museums and sights. Chicago also has much to see. Tennessee and Alabama have beautiful country in the South and then the Dakotas on to the Grand Canyon out west then to California and the Redwood Forest provides beautiful scenery. Most every state has unique features that you could make a trip out of seeing. Google the States you think you might like to see, contact AAA if you are a member and get information. Write, email, to each state you might like to visit and get a book on their state and state_s features sent to you. If you want entertainment then don_t forget to check out Disney World and the places in Orlando, FL and then New Orleans, LA and the French Quarter. Memphis, Tennessee and Branson Missouri and the many shows that it has. Like I said figure out what you are wanting to see .. History, Scenic beauty, entertainment etc and then start from there.

  • Definitely go to Washington DC. Threes so much to see.
If you didn_t do the grand canyon when you were in Las Vegas, then its well worth a re-visit to do a helicopter tour of the strip and the canyon, the views are breathtaking.

Florida is also a must, whether you choose Disney, or venture further south to the florida keys, it will be well worth it.

  • Black Hills of South Dakota. It_s the US mini Switzerland!

  • How about Lancaster, Penns.? There is a great deal of sights. There are outlets, farmlands, Amish tours, Herrs chips tour, model trains in Strassberg.
New Hope Penns. has a mule barge ride and quaint stores.

  • florida is a very pretty place to have a vacation!

  • Acadia National Park in Maine. You can stay in Bar Harbor.
    Las Vegas Nevada
    New York City
    Hawaii
    The Outer Banks

  • It realy depends on what your looking for as entertainment . I live in Saint Louis Missouri in the central usa . There are great places to visit throughout the country . I would be glad to help if i had some idea of what your looking for and how long you have to visit thanks , Patrick .

  • Mount Rushmore, Mississippi River, Grand Canyon

  • Seattle - Washington state.

  • mall of america!

  • we holiday in the states every year, this year we did vegas, los angeles and new york. los angeles is a great city, hollywood, beverley hills, great beaches, something for everyone. alot of americans in the LA area recommended san diego as a great place to visit, we didnt get chnce this year but we will do in the future. Florida is fantastic, disney is great, so is miami, i love south beach. new york is a must do city, just so much going on, i wouldnt stay there for too long tho because its all such a fast pace there, central park is a great refuge . my next trip is going to be in the kissimmee area of florida so that we can combine the theme parks with some drives out to the beach at clearwater.

  • Is there anything exciting to do in arkansas besides museums? what about activities for kids?|187683

Im planning on moving to arkansas from california in a couple of months and I cant fing anything interesting to do there besides museums(which I dont like) and a few parks!!!! All i could find was a water park and a zoo which had horrible ratings. I have a two year old daughter, what does arkansas have to offer as for as excitment for children?

  • Gentry, AR has a drive-thru safari that I have been to a few times. Some of the animals are too wild to feed but one thing that Gentry has that most other places do not is that they have wild animals that you can pet. Sometimes it is baby bears, sometimes baby tigers, it just depends on what they have out. It is called Wild Wilderness Safari.
    Then there is Cosmic Cavern in Berryville; Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge in Crossett; Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks in Fayetteville;
an elephant sactuary in Greenbrier; their is a riverboat in Hot Springs and North Little Rock; Little Rock and Hackett both have a zoo; and there is the Arkansas _ Missouri Railroad that has stops in Springdale, Van Buren, Fort Smith, and Winslow.
I have provided links to most of the things listed above so you can learn more.
I hope this has helped you.

  • I use the search engine _ask.com_. It pulls up things google never does. I am glad I could help you out.

Go to the Stratosphere for the rides, or have lunch or dinner up top (pricey)

Eat at the Eiffel Tower restaurant (also pricey)

  • All the ads tell you about the casinos, gambling and shows. The real excitement is in the national parks that surround Las Vegas. Just to name a few: Red Rock, Lake Mead, Valley of Fire, even a ski area in the winter. Explore them before you come by looking at VegasNature.com Besides they are a lot less expensive to visit.

  • You have shows, attractions, shopping, dining, sightseeing and tours. See the site below for special discounted tickets.

How can I see all the hotels in one city?|161470

and is there a site where i can see pictures, reviews and other info about the hotel aswell?

  • well http://www.hotelsearchin.com is perfect for you - takes a while to load though..

  • Try searching internet with the name of the town and the word hotel.

But be aware that never all hotels will be on.
Some are too small, new or do not have a website for other reasons.
Most hotels now have a website that do include photos.
If there is no direct link to the site, search the name of the town and the name of the hotel.

I may be moving there. Im 33 years old single male. Please help with details like parts of town, where I should live as a sigle person, places to avoid, what I may pay in rent, and anything else helpful

    Thanks for any info

  • You may want relegate this question to general US, reason being is that while Washington, DC does boarder Virginia, VA beach is a bit far away at least I_d say about 3 hours south of DC. Some folks from the DC area may go down to VA beach for vacation, but chances are there aren_t going to be many folks in the DC/Baltimore area who are going to be great familiar with Virginia Beach knowing it as little more than a beach resort town.

Take this question to the general US, and maybe you can improve your odds of finding people who live in, or at least closer to VA Beach who may be able to better help you.

  • Glad I could help, a little...Good luck!

  • How hard is it to transfer from Southern Methodist University to The University of Texas at Austin?|176766

Having a combined 3.2 GPA from SMU and community college, would I be accepted?

  • I don_t mean to be rude, but don_t you think a simple phone call to U. of T. admissions office will get you the answer? Unless one of their staff is on YA you will only get opinions here, not answers. Good luck!!

  • Although I do agree with the other answerer that suggested you call the admissions office at UT, I would also like to comment that a 3.2 average is very good and I doubt that you would have trouble being accepted with that kind of record. SMU is a well respected school also. The sooner you transfer to the college or Univ. that you intend to graduate from the less likely you are to lose credits since all course work does not transfer from school to school. The admissions office IS your best bet since you want accurate information, not just someone_s ideas about what they think might be accurate. UT is a terrific school ( my sons went there). Hope you really enjoy it.

Wondering how to work in NYC and commuting home on the weekends?|147427

How could I commute to NYC for the week from Albany and go home for the weekend? I know how to get the train to Grand Central, Is there a way to just get a cheap bed and avoid getting an apartment?

  • Sure, you could check the ads on CraigsList for someone who_s looking for a roommate, and then just rent a bedroom in someone else_s apartment, and you_d be the perfect roommate, too, because you_d be gone on the weekends, so be sure to mention that a LOT when answering the ads.

Good luck, and the link below is to the Roommates page on CraigsList...
  • What would a cab ride from the vegas strip to Reflection Bay Golf Course (Lake Las Vegas) cost?|172918

Im going to vegas in a couple of weeks staying at Ballys, and we_re playing golf at Reflection Bay at Lake Las Vegas. Thanks for the help!

  • It will cost about $60 plus tip from Ballys. The taxi cab authority has a chart that lists prices from the airport so you have to add the mileage from Ballys to the Airport and from the airport to Lake Las Vegas.

  • From Bally to Lake Las Vegas/Reflection Bay cost about $50.30 one way

Sixteen taxicab companies service the Las Vegas valley. When you enter a taxicab, the driver will start the taximeter (referred to as the drop) and an initial charge of $3.30 will register. If a taxi ride originates at McCarran International Airport, an additional airport surcharge of $1.80 per trip is added to the taximeter. After the initial drop, the taximeter will assess a fare of $2.40 per mile ($.20 for each 1/12th of a mile traveled). If the taximeter senses that the taxicab is moving less than 8-12 MPH, the taximeter will assess a charge of $.20 (twenty cents) every 24 seconds ($30.00 per hour waiting time). That is why the taximeter continues to accumulate charges even when the taxicab is not moving. Once the taximeter senses that the taxicab is moving at a speed greater than 8-12 MPH the fare calculates on the actual distance traveled.

  • lake las vegas easy 50 bucks.
why not considering renting a car it is cheaper by the day even with gas.
  • Whats the best area to move to in Florida in Dade County. Does all areas have bad hurrica?|160692

I visited south beach for a vacation and loved it. Now I_m seeking to move there. Does Florida get a lot of hurricanes? What areas are best to move to that_s inexpensive housing?

  • Well during hurricane season there was always a possibility for a hurricane to hit but they are always weak and most of the time aren_t even strong enough to be called hurricanes. That_s when a hurricane hits, but we havn_t had a hurricane in years, so you shouldn_t worry at all. And we always know way in advance if anything were to happen and there_s many hurricane shelters and such just in case. There_s no worries.

For your other question, it all depends what city in Dade County you are moving in to and what type of place you want to live in, for example, condo, house, etc. South Beach is in Miami Beach which is right next to Miami, just a bridge away. There_s inexpensive places to live in South Beach and the rest of Miami Beach as well as expensive. I would recommend just googling around, or going to craigslist or contacting a realtor, it all really depends on what is inexpensive to you and where and what you want to live in. But honestly just google will be more than enough, but if you see anything expensive in Miami Beach, don_t thik that it_s all around that pricing because it_s not, not even close. Like I said, there_s really inexpensive and expensive places to live. Also, as a sidenote, you could also move to a place near Miami Beach aif that_s where you want to move to, and just take any of the mass transit (some are even free like the Metromover) or cab, train, bus, etc or if you have your own car which living in certain palces in Miami you don_t need one, you can always just drive there. Enjoy your new life in Miami, I know you won_t regret and will love every second of it. Your going to love being a Miamian.

  • Is Palmer, NE a safe place to live if you are an African American?|147029

I have heard quite a bit of negative things about Palmer, Nebraska in reference to way minorities ranging from Italian to African Americans are treated. However; due personal reasons which can not explain I have been considering moving that small town. Can anyone give me any credible information about how true this is and possible ways to avoid issues that don_t involve not moving there.

  • Well, based on the 2000 census (for the whole ZIP code) of 1,168 total population (the city itself being less than 500) and 1,155 being white that leaves all of 13 whole people to be a variety of something else other than white. Zero being black.

That doesn_t mean that they are mean or racist toward people of other races but I would go spend a weekend there. Go to the grocery store, walk the streets... see how people treat you.

You can always live somewhere else since there are small cities all over the US but are more tolerant of _minority_ races than Palmer might be.

What is the best/quietest building/area of Disney Worlds Coronado Springs resort to ask for a room?|123822

I_m looking to book at the Coronado Springs resort on WDW property for a trip in December. I_d like a room that is close to the bus stop and main lobby, and that is in a quiet area of the resort. Any suggestions please?

  • Buildings 8-9 will be probably the best or the _Cabanas_ We stayed over at the _Racnchos_ near the pool and it wasent a bad walk to the lobby. Nice scenery along the walk you would not mind seeing.

  • There are multiple bus stops at this location so when you are looking at the map of the resort I would just pick a room that is close to one of them. I have stayed at the end of building 3 and 5 I believe at this resort and it was great! We were the buses first stop when picking up so the bus wasn_t already full from the other 3 stops at the resort and the first stop when dropping off so we were the first to get out of the crowded bus when coming back!

This is by far my favorite moderate resort! The grounds are great and the theming is Disney enough for kids but sophisticated enough for adults. Just wait until you see the main pool! Also rent the kayaks if you are adventurous or the surrey bikes for a bit tamer ride. You can ride around the whole resort and see all the great things it has to offer!

  • Most rooms at the Coronado Springs are quiet. The have them situated so that the rooms are seperated from the pool areas. There are several bus stops around the resort so that shouldn_t be an issue. You will be close regardless of where your room is. The main lobby area is also pretty noisy so you may not want to be close to that. They also offer trams with seats that will take you around the resort.
  • How do I go about moving from England to New York City?|134041

I_ve been considering moving to Manhattan from a town in England near London, and I have no idea how to look for help on organizing how it needs to be done, in terms of all the legal requirements, immigration laws, an apartment, job etc.

I_ve just finished a BA degree in Graphic Design, and New York is obviously a very affluent city with an enormous design society. So I_m also wondering how I would apply for jobs in a city so far away.

If anyone could help guide me in the right direction that would be great!

  • US companies have to prove that they cannot hire a US worker over a foreign worker. It costs them money to bring you in.

Normally it is worth sifting through such red tape if the foreign worker can demonstrate that they have an exceptional skill-set to offer the company.

Unfortunately, a BA in Graphic Design will not be enough.

However, New York is not completely closed to you. I suggest you apply to work for an agency that has offices in both London _ New York. Apply for a London position, prove your worth and then later on apply internally to be transferred to the New York office.

  • Well I dont know about the immigration laws but as for a job I would suggest you check out craigslist and other job sites such as yahoo jobs or something else there are a lot of jobs for graphic design tell them your situation and certain places can try to get you settled in an apartment or something, doesnt happen all the time but you could be really good at graphic design where they may want you. As for an apartment I would check craigslist thats where I found my apartment but just be careful there are some scams, sometimes it helps if you know someone in nyc to go check out the place for you and see if its legit. Hope this helps

  • You won_t be able to move to NYC with a BA in Graphic Design. The only realistic way for a Brit to get a working visa (H1-B) for the US would be to have a skill set that is in need and have an employer sponsor you. No employer is going to sponsor a BA in Graphic Design. Think more like PhD in Chemical Engineering.

  • You will need a work visa from the company.. I think it_s best to apply to company that will support and give you a work visa.

Maybe apply online or take a travel trip here first and apply for interviews.
  • How are parks considered to be National Parks?|159625

I was wondering, there are some parks that are State Parks and there are some that are National Parks. How does the government decides which ones are which?

  • The federal government agrees to take over certain lands if it feels worthy of designating those spots as a national park or monument. The states really don_t mind handing the land over, since the parks probably are a money-loser and it_s good to have someone else pay for it (and indeed will probably upgrade the facilities after taking it over).

Don_t forget that the federal government already owns bunches of land across the country, particularly in the West. Nevada has a very large percentage of land owned by the federal government. And some new national parks are a mere upgrade from national monument status.

  • State Parks are managed by State Employees. National Parks belong to the Federal Government. Which agency owns the land is the deciding factor.
  • What is a good area to stay in when visiting Miami in December?|157534

We are going to Miami in December and trying to figure out where we would like to stay any tips??? Whats the weather like?

    Thank you

  • dec. in miami is great! i would stay in none other than south beach, check out the pelican hotel on ocean drive they have uniquely themed rooms

  • Geography for 1st time visitors:

Most visitors want to stay on Miami Beach, a city on a barrier island of the same name off the coast of Miami _ connected to it by several causeways. _South Beach_ is the southernmost 2 miles or so of Miami Beach. It contains the best known beaches, shopping streets, restaurants, clubs, hotels, and the historic _art deco_ district.

    Sobe hotels:
To be in the center of or within walking distance of the center of SoBe you want to stay somewhere below 23d street (address number under 2300) and on or within a block of Washington or Collins Avenues, or Ocean drive. You won_t need a car.

The weather is always perfect in December.
  • What are some crazy things to do on vacations with friends?|169656

My friend lives in Orlando, Florida and im visiting her over spring break. We are making a to do list of crazy things to do like talk to a hobo and chase seagulls on the beach. Any ideas of stupid little things we could do to keep entertained?

  • Lol talk to hobos? u guys are too crazy for meee!!!

  • Um, the thing about Florida is that something crazy is likely to happen to you whether you want it to or not. Just remember that, if you happen to come across an old grenade or land mine, Florida law requires that you play hot potato with it for at least an hour before alerting the authorities.

    1. You could throw something (PLEASE NOT FOOD) at a gator and try to get it to snap at it.

  • What is the best hotel in Philadelphia Pa?|156843

Okay I admit I am sort of a hotel snob. I like 4 and 5 star hotels. My family and I are going to philly for the weekend and I want a nice hotel but I would like it really close to all the historical things. Does anyone have any suggestion. Your help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • If you want to be by the historical sites, you want to stay in Olde City. (Although I agree with the other posters that it would also be great to stay in Rittenhouse.) In Olde City, try to get a room at the Omni. It_s fancy, beautiful, and in the heart of Philly_s historical sites.

  • It really depends on what you are looking for.

The top two luxury hotels in the city are the four seasons and 1615 rittenhouse. They are both located near the Rittenhouse square area.

However, given your preference for historicals, I would check out the Sheraton Society Hill, the Hyatt Penns Landing and the Holiday Inn Historic district, all are in the historic area.

You can_t go wrong with either, really, if you choose to stay in Rittenhouse, the Phlash shuttle is still running until the end of the month, or its a nice walk.

  • Some suggestions:

TripAdvisor ranks the Alexander Inn (
    http://tinyurl.com/4vxta7)
as the best hotel, but it is a 3-star hotel.

The first 4-star hotel listed by TripAdvisor (which is usually quite reliable) is the Sofitel (
    http://tinyurl.com/3g7ekl
    or
    http://www.booking.com/hotel/us/sofitel-

Another type of ranking could be found at Booking.com, which is another reliable site, because they basically email people who have booked with them, asking them to rank (something that prevents _fake_ reviews):

What is the best island to stay at in Hawaii?|110528

I am having a hard time narrowing it down to staying at a certain island in Hawaii. There is so much research to do and I just wanted a little help. Does anyone know which one has more activities or just the best island overall?

  • I agree Oahu has it all, it is lovely _ has something for everyone, a little piece of all the islands! If you need a good deal on a hotel there, try using a corporate room broker - you can get the best deals there.

This site has an Oahu package good for 2 adults _ 2 kids for 5 days but you can add extra people _ extra days if you need to. I_ve used this package before myself _ the resorts they offer are always 4 star _ very nice. There is no sales pitch or blackout dates.

Also if you go, there is a really nice diving spot in Waikikki area called AquaZone diving nearby offers a free scuba lesson! Good luck _ Aloha!

  • If you are first time traveler, then just Oahu( Honolulu), the most Beautiful island with nice beaches are in Maui, if you like volcano and something wild, the big island, if you like canyon, then go Li hue.
  • What is the best weekly newspaper for Anthem residents?|120559

I prefer reading very localized coverage about community issues. What options do I have available in Anthem and which is the best?

  • The Phoenix Republic has inserts on specific areas.

  • Dave is correct, I mean_t the Arizona Republic, I think that would be your only resource really, there are a couple of websites you can put your zip code in and get some info.. you could try that, but I don_t think it is news, more like statistics. Thanks for the best answer!

  • BTW, it_s actually called the Arizona Republic and they do have local editions for most areas like Tempe, Glendale, Anthem, Mesa etc.. No really decent other daily papers are that worthwhile.
  • What is the best and cheapest way to get from JFK Airport to Manhatten?|121040

We will have 3 very big suitcases, so we can_t take the Subway or a public bus, keep that in mind.

Does anyone know the price of any shuttle services from the airport?
Also, how long approx (in minutes) does it take from JFK to Manhatten.

We will be staying at the Hotel Edison, anyone ever stayed there b4 or heard any feedback from this hotel?

Thanks everyone, im from Sydney Australia, so any help would be great!

  • Taxi is a flat fare of $45, not including the $5 toll and tip. JFK is about 36 miles to Manhattan and usually takes 45 min to an hour to drive it. I wouldn_t take the shuttle, just because you have to wait on everyone else_s pick up and drop off. If you don_t mind the time, then go for it. With shuttle add 30 to 45 minutes more to your travel time.
Check out the shuttle website for their fare.

    http://www.nyairportservice.com

  • taxi_s are good for this stuff.
Tons of taxi_s wait outside the airport to bring people to Manhatten you won_t have a problem getting one.

Whoa your from Australia I have always wanted to go there it sounds amazing. Anyway have a good time here in the US. New York is truly amazing hope you get to do everything!

  • express bus service JFK to midtown.
    cost unknown.
go to the port authority web page and drop down on JFK
    then see the bus service.

  • Taxis are $45 plus tolls from all airports to Manhattan which would probably be your best bet as I don_t suggest driving in NYC to tourists.

noirdefilm, I don_t know what roundabout of a way you went from JFK to Manhattan but it_s only about 18 miles from JFK to midtown.

  • We just returned from NYC. It was 4 adults, two pieces of luggage -- 26_ers -- a stuffed backpack and 2 more carry-ons. Four humans crammed ourselves in a yellow cab passenger compartment with 3 in back and one in front with the driver. The carry-ons _ luggage fit into the trunk. The cab was a standard sized American made sedan.

We came in to JFK on Saturday morning and the ride to our hotel in Manhattan must have been 20 to 30 minutes (in no time after we crossed a bridge it seemed, we were at the hotel) because there was relatively light traffic at that time of day.

Each couple contributed $30 for a total of $60. That included the tip. We did the same when we had to return to the airport the following Saturday morning. Since we wanted a 7:00 am to 7:15 am early morning pickup, the driver agreed to return to get us. He was very prompt. Again, a happy arrangement for everyone.

We did not consider riding a van.

  • You can try SuperShuttle at
    http://www.supershuttle.com

They have shared vans that will take you directly to your hotel. Cost about $20 per person. You can pre-pay and arrange a pickup or you can go to their booth at the airport. Depending on how many drop-offs are before you, it will take about 45 minutes to an hour.

There is also the NY Airport Service bus, which costs I think $12 per person, but will only take you to Grand Central Station, NY Penn Station, and selected midtown hotels. Don_t know if the Edison is one of them. The bus runs on a regular schedule and will also take about 45 minutes.

  • What are some good hikes in Yosemite for teenage boys?|154272

I am taking my 2 teenage sons backpacking in Yosemite for 3 nights. I have never been and would like to know some good, easy hikes that provide a lot of bang for the buck. We are interested in seeing waterfalls, rivers, El Capitan or Half Dome. Any suggestions?

  • There aren_t really any waterfalls at this time of the year, no rain, and they don_t start again until spring when the snow starts to melt. Merced River that runs through the valley of Yosemite should still be running though.

You can see both Half Dome and El Captain from the valley floor. Here is some hiking information for the park:

  • You should have asked that question several months ago unless money is no object. The week between Christmas and New Year_s is one of the most heavily traveled weeks of the year and the discounts sell out far in advance.

My daughter_s birthday is on the 27th of July. We live in a small, boring city so I would like to take her and four of her friends to the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta for her birthday. Needless to say this trip can be expensive. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch. My daughter has had a rough year. This would be a great treat for her.

  • I agree with the first poster. However, there are exceptions to this rule: any day of the week if you go 1 hour and 15 minutes before closing, you can get in half price(about $13 per person). If your kids have student ID_s, they can get in half price Mon-Thurs after 3:45pm(however, they have blackout dates for this special, so I would call and find out). If you want to call, bypass all the crap by pressing _0_-you_ll get a live operator.

  • unfortunately unless you have a group of 20 or more you would not be able to get a discounted ticket to the Georgia aquarium.

    Ticket Prices are as follows:
    Ticket price: Adult - $29.50
    Child (age 3-12) - $22.00
    Senior (age 55 and up) - $25.50

  • What is the best way to travel between Ohare airport and Midway airport in Chicago?|159032

I will be arriving at O_hare Terminal 5with my wife and a 2-year-old and we need to get on connecting flight departing from Midway airport in Chicago. What is the best way? Is there a bus/public transportation? How much is a cab or a limo? How long will it take? Thank you.

  • Years ago their used to be a helicopter shuttle between the two airports.
There is still a shuttle service called Coach USA / Wisconsin.

This web link should give you some information.

    http://www.flychicago.com/ohare/groundtr

There are also some limo services that will go between the two airports, obviously a bit more expensive.
There is also public bus transportation, but I would not suggest it - especially since you have a small child with you.
    Good luck

  • Best solution is to take a taxi. If you book a car service, they typically require that you call them after you retrieve your bags. Although a car service is much nicer, that process can delay the transfer by about 10-15 minutes. Instead, just step outside to the taxi line and you should have a car within a much shorter wait. (By the way, always beware of any alleged _private drivers_ who solicit business in the airport or even outside -- it_s illegal).

Taxi will cost about $45, give or take, and you should be there in about 30-40 minutes (unless you_re traveling during rush hour and then plan for a good hour). They do charge an additional $1 per person. I wonder if they would actually charge for a 2 year old?

  • The best way to get there would be to just take a taxi cab. However, it will be about $45 and up, depending on what cab service you use. I know because I work at the Hilton Garden Inn right outside the airport, and we always recommend that our guests use Airport Taxi and Limo. Their phone number is 847-297-5556. You can also try calling their 800 number at 800-707-0380. They charge our guests a set rate of $45.

As for time planning, it takes 45 minutes with no traffic, and about an hour to an hour and a half if it_s rush hour, between 4-6pm.

    Best of luck :)

  • Depends upon how much time you have.
There is a bus that travels between the two airports $14 per person.
If you have more time you could try the cta ($2.5 per person). Take the blue line and transfer to the orange line at clark/lake. For this route, I would schedule 2 hrs of travel time. Not the fastest, but cheap.

  • If you travel with a baby, the safest way is to book a limo or a sedan with local chicago limo company, such as
    http://stretchlimochicago.com/
    .

The trip will cost you around $60 in black town car plus you order a car seat rental too for around $5 extra.

I never really been to the doctor and want to go get some blood work and I routine checkup.Im 22 and I do have insurance through blue cross/blue shield. Can someone recommend some place?

  • Texas Med Clinics (_Doc in the Box_) will accept your insurance, test your blood and provide a blood change if needed. They have discount coupons on their website.

  • Depending on you plan through Blue X Blue shield, which is widely accept, Labcorp and Quest will process bloodwork, but you need to have it ordered by a doctor. You should look for a primary care physician nd ask for a full physical with bloodwork. Blue X is accepted by all major hospitals so look at you plan to find a doctor. I really like Dr. Amy Thomas at Christus Santa Rosa in the Medical center.

  • Look on your insurance card for a customer service number. Call that and ask for a list of family practice doctors in your area that are accepting new patients and that are on your insurance plan.

Vacation ideas on the East Coast with and infant and toddlers?|139262

Looking to take my 1 year old and 2 year old with us on a vacation in mid-June. We are looking for something in the PA to NC area that is conducive to taking kids.

We are familiar with the NJ shore, VA Beaches, OC, MD, and DE beaches. If you have another suggestion for a beach - ok, but please let it have more to do there than just a beach and the ocean!

    Thanks!

  • I would recommend Williamsburg, VA - you can visit Colonial Williamsburg, the Jamestown settlement, Busch Gardens, or Water Country USA - all right there. Plus, Virginia Beach is only a 45 minute drive from there, where there is also the Marine Science Museum. I also think Norfolk (30 min away) has a Discovery Kids Science Museum that has lots of hands on things for children to do (though I haven_t been here myself, I_ve heard the reviews). Your two year old might appreciate this, but your 1 year old could probably have fun wherever. All of these places are kid/baby friendly!

  • King_s Dominion amusement park in Virginia.
    Colonial Williamsburg, VA

  • I_d like to suggest that you leave the 1 _ 2 year old with Grandma and you _ the Hubby take off for Barbedos.
  • How can i go on a day trip to New York from Boston?|142769

I want to leave Boston early in the morning and come back late night. I would like to see Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Cente and Grand Zero. Is there any tour bus operators in Boston for this or should i book a one day tour in New york or is it possible to see places by New york subway system?

  • You can definitely get around New York on the subway, and I_d recommend developing your own _tour_ versus taking an organized one. You_ll save money, and it will be more suited to your preferences.

Click on the link below for VERY cheap bus fares between Boston and New York. I recommend using the buses that go to 34th Street near Penn Station -- their schedules are more reliable, and the location is more central. Once you_re in the city, the subway is only $2 per trip, and you can also buy a daily pass that will save money if you use it a lot.

    Enjoy your trip!

    Kango Traveler

  • You can definitely see the Statue of Liberty, Roc Center and Ground Zero in one day.

Leave early in the morning from Boston - either drive (4 hrs), take the Greyhound Peter Pan bus ($55 roundtrip - 5 hrs), or the Acela Amtrak Express (3.5 hrs -$100 roundtrip).

If you take the bus or the Acela, you will get dropped off in Midtown at either Penn Station (32nd at 7th) or Port Authority (42nd and 8th), so Roc Center and the Empire State are only a few blocks north.

Rockefeller Center is on 50th and 6th and walkable from the bus and train stations.

From there, get in a cab and go to Ground Zero (downtown). From there, go to Circle Line ferry over on the West Side Hwy, and hop on a boat to Statue of Liberty. Just check for ferry times since they may have a set schedule.

If you get to the city by 10am, you can be done with everything and even see a show and have some dinner (if the stike is over by then)

Have fun. Bundle up, its cold.

  • you can take Amtrak from Boston right into Penn Station in a little under 4 hours. You could leave at 7:00 am and return at 9:00 pm and get in a pretty full day. The fare is $59.00.
    take a look at tickets.amtrack.com

You can go from the 34th and Fifth (location of Empire State) by subway to Ground Zero or vicinity - but if you don_t know the system you might be better off with a tour and It might be hard to fit in the Statue of Liberty if you want to get up close and personal because you need to take a boat there.

Why not call GRAY LINE Tours (800) 669-0051 and for all other New York sightseeing info go to
    http://www.hotelsntravel.com/new_york_ci

  • I live in Boston, and have used the Peter Pan bus. I think it_s about seventy dollars round-trip. It goes directly from boston to Manhattan. Very few stops, and they usually play a movie during the ride. There is the Fung-Wah bus in Chinatown, but they are VERY unreliable, but cheap if you_re brave. You can also take the Amtrak 95 train, but it costs more and there are more stops.

You can probably get tour information from the bus company. All the landmarks are pretty easy and cheap to get to by taxi. A taxi can take you anywhere in Manhattan for, usually, less than 10 dollars.

  • Take the Greyhound from South Station in Boston. It_s $30 round trip from Boston to Port Authority in Manhattan (about a 5 minute walk from Times Square).

Once you_re in Times Square you_ll find many one day bus tours--there are guys that stand out on the sidewalk for each tour bus company. Otherwise you can grab a subway map and show yourself around New York and go at your own pace.

How far is it from Columbia Universty in NYC to the Broadway theater district?|106275

I_m gonna be there this summer, and I sorta need to know. First of all, what_s the distance between the two in miles? Also, which subway station is nearest, and where would I get off to wind up on Broadway? And in the event that I_d need to take a cab, about how much would it cost? Thanks!

  • Subway (#1 line) is the better option. Which station depends on where you are going in the theater district, probably 50th St. but possibly Times Square/42nd Street. Confirm which is closer, and how much time to allow, using
    http://www.hopstop.com
    .

    To calculate cab fare, try
    http://nyc.taxiwiz.com/.

  • It_s about 3.5 miles. You take the subway -- the 1 train -- directly from Columbia to Times Square, it_s a 10-15 minute ride, tops. Don_t bother with a cab, but if you take one, it_ll probably run $10-$12.

  • The subway stop at Columbia is the 116 Street station of the #1 IRT subway. Take it to 42 Street and you are in the theater district. The intervening stations are 110, 103, 96, 86, 79, 72, 66 (Lincoln Center), 59, and 50, which would also leave you in the theater district. Figure 15 minutes travel.
A cab would run about $12.
The #1 subway IS the Broadway line for much of its length.

  • Take the 1 subway train to 50th Street. Just a matter of minutes, five minutes tops.

  • File this in your NYC reference section:
Above 14th St. Manhattan is on a grid system with 20 N/S blocks to a mile and 5 E/W blocks to a mile- so now you know why cab fares are based on a 1/5 mile standard.
    Thus 116St-42St. =74 blocks / 20=3.7 miles

  • It_s 3 to 4 miles. I don_t know the subway station but it is right down Broadway from Columbia.

  • It_s about 2 - 3 miles. Take the 1 train that stops at 116 Street, right outside the gates of Columbia. If you take the 1 all the way down it will be about 10 stops to 42nd St. A cab will probably cost you $15 if you tell the cabbie to take the west side highway.

    Family of 4 - 2 adults a 13 and 10 year old also. Thanks

  • I live on 14th Street near Union Square. I have never stayed at the Union Square Inn, but I walk by it everyday. It appears to be nice and I read about in NY Magazine as an affordable hotel. The people that come in and out seem to be mostly Europeans, clean and _normal_. The rooms will run you anywhere from $79 a night if you share a bath to $169 a night for the most expensive room. They have quite a few prices in between, check the site below. It is a safe neighborhood, centrally located in Manhattan and very close to the Union Square subway station where you can catch the 4 train right on up to 161st Street Yankee stadium. Final year in the stadium. Go Yanks!

  • The Hyatt Regency or the Marriot in Times Square. How ever, you asked for moderately prices hotels in NYC. Unfortunately they don_t exist anymore, the minimum rate for a room in midtown Manhattan is usually around $200 per night. You may find rooms for less in either Queens or Brooklyn but the location is not as good.

  • The Marriot in Times Square is very nice

  • I_m not soo sure if it will be a good price but the best hotel to stay at is by far the Marriot Marquee in Times Square. My Uncle works in managment at the hotel so we get to go their every summer to stay. The place is amazing. It has numerous resturants and shops inside. They even have a beyond amazing all glass fitness studio which I do believe is award winning. The hotel is most definetly the best location seeming as it is right square in the middle of Times Square. The hotel may be a little pricier but you will save money on cabs and subways because there are so many wonderful things within walking distance from the Marquee including Broadway, Toys R US, Hard Rock, and Good Morning America.

    Hope I could help!

  • Moderately priced and New York City don_t go together.

If you want best location, anywhere in Midtown near 7th Ave. or Lexington Ave. or Broadway will mostly likely be near a subway station that will allow you to get anywhere in the city.

As for price, the average price of a hotel room in New York City is now over $300 per night. That_s an average, so it_s going to include places in Queens and Staten Island and the less desirable locations (like places where prostitutes frequent). If you want a decent hotel in Manhattan, where you won_t fear for your children, expect to start at $400 (unless you_re going in January or February when the rates are a little less).

  • You can always stay across the river in New Jersey. There is a Days Inn and the hotel_s van will take you to Grand Central Station. From there you can pretty much see everything in NYC. Take the subway to all of your locations - it is very easy to use.

  • The Sheraton New York Hotel _ Tower is the best place, I believe for someone to stay in Manhattan. It is on the corner of 53rd and 7th in Midtown, just north of Times Square, and this 4 star hotel is available at only $179/night on Orbitz!!!

  • The Wellington Hotel is a pretty good location....it_s right near Times Square....from the front door you_ll be looking at Times Square....and it_s moderately priced

You_ll have to take the subway to Yankee stadium (or a cab). You don_t want to stay in a hotel in the Bronx where the stadium is....it_s too bad of an area and it is near nothing....
  • I am considering moving to Denver From Tennessee what is Denver Like?|128807

I am looking for someone who is from Denver. I am planning to move out there because my husband_s family is in Denver. Currently we have no family near us in Nashville. What are the pros and cons of Denver? What are some good neighborhoods to live in?

  • Denver_s awesome. I hope someday I_ll find myself back there. Good neighborhoods include, but are not limited to: Cherry Creek, Englewood, Lakewood, Littleton, Highlands Ranch. There are a lot of great neighborhoods, actually. The weather is great out there. You get all 4 seasons, unlike the south where it_s just hot, hot, and hotter. What_s cool about Denver weather is that a lot of time when it snows, it_s sunny and beautiful the next day (every now and then you do get blizzards, though). There_s a lot of great shopping, lots of great music venues, and a lot of great bars (someone told me that Denver has more bars per capita than any other city in the U.S.) The people are very friendly there, and you_re close to the mountains. The only bad thing about Denver are the Bronco fans (not the Broncos, just the fans).

  • Metro Denver is a nice city, Very clean, traffic is horrible for a smaller city however _ it is expensive to live here. I moved here last year(2008) from northern New Jersey(metro NYC area). It has almost anything a person could ask for. Only problem is the economy now. Unemployment is high!

  • Like Karen said.move here and don_t look back. Moved here 16 years ago from NJ. to Castle Rock about 30min. south of Denver. Would never move back to Jersey or anywhere else. Love it here. Check out
    http://www.townofcastlerock.org

Voted one of the top 10 family friendly towns by Better Homes and Gardens and Family Circle Magazines

  • i just moved away from Denver and miss it terribly. please see my answer in your other question and i explain Denver to you in it. Its a great town, especially if you have a family it feels very safe

  • I moved here from NY 20 years ago and never looked back, you will like the dry air and more days of sunshine than Florida, mild winters albeit we did have our fair share of blizzards last winter.. not the norm, concerts, broadway shows major sports teams great shopping and friendly folks.... Lowry and Stapleton are great newer areas to live in, close to the mountains...cons, winters can get cold at times and being from NY i still refer to it as a cowtown.

What website is the best for cheap hotel rates?|103013

I am planning a trip to Lake Tahoe and was wondering where to find the best deal on hotels?

  • I don_t like Priceline -- you never know which hotel you_ll get, and it may end up being nowhere near where you want to go.

    I use
    http://www.resideo.com/us/california/sou

You can look over the list of hotels, check rates, view pics, book online, etc. It_s an easy site to use, and they don_t have a lot of steps between choosing and booking (like expedia.com has).

Looks like Lakeland Village Beach _ Mountain Resort is having a summer special -- $139/night some nights.

    Good luck...hope that helps!

  • I just used hotels.com- it worked. I dont know if it is the best because it is the only one I have heard of. I found a great hotel at a great price and all the users comments were helpful. Happy Vacation (tahoe is beautiful!).

  • Travelocity...you can also plan your whole trip on there for cheaper than planning it all separately

  • Try Kayak.com

  • During my last trip I came across a website called
    http://www.cheaphotel-s.com
. It has quite a large variety of hotels. You might wanna give it a try.

  • There are a bunch of decent sites that have cheap hotel prices. A lot of them also have low price guarantee_s like this one.

    http://www.cheaphotelnow.com

  • hotels.com is pretty good. but the higher quality hotel you want the more its going to cost. so, like everywhere else it can get pricey.

  • priceline.com??? :_)
  • I am a 22 year-old moving to Maryland and looking for a fun, safe, somewhat inexpensive neighborhood to live?|115995

I will be working in Fort Meade, MD. I would like a short commute to work, preferably 20 minutes or less. By fun, I mean nightlife, bars, sports teams, and a younger crowd around my age. Any suggestions of neighborhoods, whether outside Baltimore or DC would be appreciated.

  • Your best bet is Laurel or Columbia. But stay away from Silver Springs! I have over 200 family members in the area....trust me!

I live in Owings Mills... about 30-40 minutes away from Ft. Meade. My parents bought a house in Severn, about three miles from Ft. Meade. If you need a realtor to help you find a great place, let me know via email.

Living in Columbia, Laurel, Odenton or Severn will keep you near both DC and Baltimore. You have two major areas to party at without living in them.

  • Silver Spring
  • Where is the most beautiful place to go camping in the eastern united states?|126717

I will be beginning a 2 month road trip next week. I plan on hitting South and North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky and Tennessee. Any ideas for websites to view good places to camp? Actually I am putting all my stuff into storage so if I find a real nice place to live, I can do that too!

  • Bryson City, NC was voted by Outdoor Magazine as one of the top 100 best places to live for outdoor enthusiasts. Sounds like you_d love it. It has the Deep Creek Recreation Area with hiking trails that join the Appalachian Trail and also general camping. If your into more of the _cabin camping_ type of camping, I recommend
    http://www.annasdeepcreekcabins.com/
because they are right next the the Deep Creek Rec Area (1/2 mile away). Seriously, I_ve been to Bryson City many times because I love the outdoors, and there is so much for me to do!

  • Try The Finger Lakes area.

  • Anywhere in the Adirondack Mountains! I live in NYS and may be biased but I never get tired of these beatiful mountains. Check out these websites below for more information.

  • that mountain area between Knoxville TN through Asheville (I-40) and south towards Spartenburg SC (I-26) is about the most beautiful I have ever seen!

  • Even though you are not travelling to that area, you should go to Georgia. There are some beautiful camp grounds there with lake views, and wildlife sightings, and all sorts of stuff. There are some beautiful houses there too so you can live close to nature. The trails give you a great way to start your day!!! (I sound like some sort of ad but don_t pay attention to me...)
  • Going on a seven or eight hour trip to Savannah Georgia from jupiter. Any ideas on how to pass the time?|126026

We_re travelling by car, and I_m with my Girl scout troop. I_m not exactly positive on travelling time, so could anyone tell me the time from Jupiter, FLorida to Savannah? I think we_re leaving at six or seven in the morning. I have a nintendo DS with Brain AGe2 on it, so maybe you could suggest some time consuming games.

  • well its going to take about 6.5 hours so maybe stay up really late the night before so that you could sleep in the car and pass the time away...bring a really good book...also think of some fun things you could do with your fellow scouts like I spy stuff and games like that...Or you could talk about Jamie Lynn Spears pregnant. IDK.

    Hope that helped!
    =)

  • to pass the time try playing a states game print out all 50 states and a line in front of them all. as cars pass mark off the state on there liscence plate. try to get all 50 states
  • How to get from Orlando to the beach?|151915

I_m 19 and going to Orlando with a friend (also 19). We can_t rent a car and don_t know anybody in the area. Obviously, we_re going to the tourist spots (Disney, Sea World, etc) but we want to fit in a few days at the beach. I know Orlando is far from the beach, so what are easy ways to get to the theme parks and the beach? Is there anything set up for tourists or do we just have to get a cab everywhere?

  • It would cost an arm and a leg to get to a beach by taxi. There are tours to Clearwater Beach, but those are over $50 per person.

I_d recommend going to Typhoon Lagoon in Walt Disney World.

How can I get a cheap ride from the airport to a bus stop?|113904

Take LANTA bus route F from the airport to the corner of Schoenersville Road and Industrial Dr. From there its a short walk to you final destination. The fare on LANTA buses is $2 a ride.

  • What are fun things to do on a family getaway in the middle of nowhere?|110642

Hello. I_m going away from Sept. 1 to Sept 4 with my wife, her brother, and her parents. We are going to Tupper Lake, NY. It is basically in the middle of nowhere. I know that we will do a little fishing, but besides that I_m not sure what to do to pass the time. Is there anything that we can do that will be fun? Is there anything that I should make sure not to forget to bring with me? Thanks.

  • Some useful tips and essential things for a safe and enjoyable holiday::

    1. Go in 2 or 3 cars/caravans if you are camping. There is
a great truth about safety in numbers. Consider bringing
another 5 friends and relatives for more fun, too.

    2. Bring along a couple of soccer/volley balls, frisbees, barbeque set.

    3. Ensure a few ground-sheets, hurricane lamps, LED torches(those that have 15-20 hrs ultra-bright and continuous lighting), 2 big pails, 5 big plastic bags.

    4. 2 hardwood 2m poles for self-defence and other emergency use.

    5. When you get to the spot, many ideas for activities will automatically present themselves, so don_t worry too much. Anyway 4 days will pass too fast! But have a good discussion with some people who have done _camping in the middle of nowhere_ and believe them when they say it is really NOT recommended. There will be endless problems and it may turn out to be a nightmare. Well, you have been cautioned.

    Have a nice holiday!

How can I participate in reindeer herding in Alaska?|123935

I got to know of this traditional event through an episode from My super sweet 16: Exiled. A family spends a few weeks out in the cold and put up barriers so the herd doesnt end up endagering themselves. It happens every year. I thought it was really interesting, wonderful and selfless act and I would like to know how can I get myself hosted by one of these families when their out doing that.

  • You are right. There are many traditional reindeer herders in Lapland, also known as Finnmark.
In Alaska, there is a University of Alaska herd, but most of the reindeer are owned by Alaskan Natives in the Nome area. They could probably use some help when they gather the herd together to remove the antlers. google reindeer herding on the Seward Peninsula and see if you can find a person_s name. Write to that person and ask if you can come help. You will have to bring your own food, sleeping bag, etc. Ask them what else you should bring.
  • What Utah national park is the Best to see and the most affordable?|197940

I want to surprise my Husband this year on our anniversary by saving money to stay at one of the Utah national parks. I don_t have much money so I would like to stay somewhere nice, but not too expensive. I choose Utah, because we are from Utah, but have not seen our parks yet. Based on your experiance, which one is the best to see? and affordable?

  • I have visited all of Utahs red rock parks. They are all nice in a different way. Just last spring we visited Escalante State Park fo the first time.Another hidden treasure in this area is Kodachrome Basin State. Its conceivably to visit all of the parks in a couple of days with the exception of Arches. Its not in the general area as Bryce, Zion, Capitol Reef, _ Escalante .Visit the more touristy parks then drive towards one of the lesser known parks for the better value

  • Bryce Canyon. Stay in Tropic, Not Rubys Inn. Way cheaper. May as well see Zions too while youre there.

  • What is the best nightclub club in Manhattan?|189128

Me and my buddy will be in Manhattan for 2 weeks and were wondering where to find the best nightclubs.

  • Check these two sources below for nightclubbing in NYC

  • You may want to be a bit more precise as to what you are looking for. You could end up in a leather dykes club or whatever else that just does not fit you...

  • There are two main areas where all the cool clubs are:

    1) Meat Pack District (below 14th Street around 9th Avenue). You can go to Budha Bar which is a beautiful place with music, lounge, and restaurant.
Across the street there is Tanjum a new hot club but very hard to get in. So dress to impress!

    2) Tenth Avenue between 27th _ 29t Street. That area is full of clubs but many young people (in their 20_s) go there on the weekend. the best time is during the week. But go check it out anyways, the experience is great.
The best places there, in my opinion, are
    a) Marquee (on 10th Avenue corner of 27th Street). It is a very popular club and full of models and new yorkers.
Pink Elephant is super trendy too.

Another hot spot is called The Box. I haven_t had the chance to visit yet, but go online to get the address. It is a night club with live shows and expensive. There you won_t find many tourists or very young people, but only new yorkers. It is located in the Lower East Side.

What is the best way (pricewise)to book a family vacation to disney world for 14 people?|112831

I am looking to book a trip for 14 to disney world fl. and I would liketo have a comfortable condo at a reasonable price. Also if there are any sugestions for park tickets that would save me money.

  • How fun!!!

Go thru disney. They will have deals for _good neighbor_ hotels that include park hopper tickets.

Check disney.com or call a travel agent. If you buy tickets and a place to stay seperately, it will more pricey.

  • don_t go

  • Get discounted park tickets through one of these legitimate vendors:

    Disney Store
    AAA (membership required)
Costco or Sam_s Club (Membership required)

My husband and I own a timeshare and sometimes stay at Fantasyworld Vacation Villas in Kissimmee. They are very nice. You can also look into the Best Western Lakeside - which is a wonderful resort with ajoining rooms.

    Have a great time!

  • I don_t know if you ever heard of Coastal but they have some great vacation packages that you can purchase once and can use it for the rest of your life. these are 15,000.00$ and upwards packages for pennies on the dollar. You don_t have to sell these packages to own one. Here is the website you can check out
    http://www.shahansdestinations.com
. It is a home based biz site but go on check out the packages(which are cheaper when purchased as just a package), then call the 1-800# and give them the ID code 7973LS and tell them you are interested in a package only not the biz or you can buzz me at 1-866-562-1967. Hope you find what your looking for and GOOD LUCK ON YOUR JOURNEY!!! (If you check out the site, it is a biz site and you start receiving emails just subscribe)

  • Traveling with 14 people, you may want to take a look at renting a vacation home instead of a condo. You may want to consider renting one of the homes with 5+ bedrooms. If you want to split up your travel group then you may want to consider renting two 4 bedroom homes. You may also qualify for additional discounts by using the _group travel_ method.

  • I am doing the same thing this year but we have 17 people going. The cheapest way is going to be to rent a villa. The best site I have found is www.VRBO.com. They have tons of homes. You are probably going to need a 6 or 7 bedroom yourself - it depends on how the families are divided. They are running anywhere from 1800 up to 3000 for the off season. Check them out.

  • The best way for you to go to Disney World with 14 people is to camp there and for you to drive there from where every you are right now and you you to go at the beginning of spring and end of winter. Also get park passes before you go there so you don_t have to pay for them there. If you say on property you will get to go to a park early (early hours) and leave later then everyone else. I hope this helps.

  • How long does it take to drive from New York to New Jersey?|172601

Okay, so I am writing a story which involves a trip from NY to NJ. Since I don_t live in either states so I_m asking this. How long will it take to drive from New York to New Jersey? And on the way, what kind of view would one get?

  • OK, it_s about 14 miles from NYC to Newark, and it would take around a half-hour, and the link below is to a map with turn-by-turn directions...

However, bear in mind that very few New Yorkers have cars, so, in reality, the person would probably NOT drive there, they would almost certainly take public transportation, buses and trains, so the second link, below is a map of how to do it that way!...

  • I_ll take it from the Holland Tunnel-depending on traffic, 1/2 hr.

Take Routes 1 _ 9 South (Pulaski Skyway) for 5 miles to the _Newark and the Oranges_ exit.

Views along the way, before Newark: parts of Jersey City, freight yards, PATH train yard, huge postal distribution center in Kearny, either the Passaic or Hackensack River, Newark skyline, including the Prudential building (I think it_s the tallest building).

  • Manhattan to Newark....
    Any number of routes.
From lower Manhattan there are the Lincoln _ Holland tunnels... no views until you reach NJ highways ...mostly flatland on NJ turnpike ,some views of Manhattan, parts of the Meadowlands _ Newark airport
There is the George washington bridge at the north end....longer route
West Side Highway follows the Hudson river .
NJ is visible all the way .
If taken from the lower end the W. Side hwy has views of the NY Piers, west side high rise apts ( Trump Towers) upper west side , riverside park .parts of Harlem _ NJ Palisades..
Once across the Hudson into Ft. Lee , NJ local Hwys to NJTP south into Newark area.
Tunnel routes are shorter _ less scenic.
Either route can take an hour or more depending on time of day.
    Best regards

  • It still depends: where in New York and where in Newark.

On a good day, the Newark Airport might be only 10-15 minutes away once you get out of the Lincoln Tunnel. But going through downtown Newark can be bad, and driving through Manhattan, especially through the tunnel, can be really bad.

A half hour to 45 minutes might be a save guesstimate from Manhattan. More from Brooklyn or Queens.

  • Watch the opening of the Sopranos for the view from the helix coming out of the Lincoln Tunnel as for the time to drive it all depends on where in NY you_re coming from and where in Jersey and the time of day

  • depending on where in Jersey you are going, maybe 40-45 minutes depending on traffic and again where you are going in Jersey

  • It depends where you_re coming from and where you_re going to. I suggest you go to maps on google to be more precise.

  • 20 minutes. From Fort Lee, NJ to NYC is 5 minutes right across the bridge.

  • It totally depends where you are in NJ. It_s a pretty big state.

What made the disney company merge the worldshowcase half of epcot and the futureworld part together?|108208

I watched a documentary on Disney World and it said that future world and world showcase were both two different ideas for a theme park and i was just wondering what made them merge the two ideas. in my opinion they are nothing alike.

  • i watched the same one.

    what i am guessing is:
    1. they didnt want to make 2 separate parks
    2. they both deal with the world, life, and culture, so it seemed best to put them together.

EPCOT stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow

community i guess is the world showcase part and tomorrow is the futureworld part

  • Walt Disney innovated the not-traveling carnival called Disneyland.Epcot is a World_s Fair that never stops.Epcot is a combination of human (World Showcase) and corporate (Innoventions) values. Two Epcots would lead to the failure of the corporate one because humans do not hold corporate values.

Walt Disney wanted a balance of corporate and human values. Most have Walt Disney_s view of corporations but a few are libertarian which is a corporate philosophy. One theory why women earn less than men is that they hold human values higher than corporate values.

  • I think they did it to have some variety at epcot...
    and to make it bigger.
at worldshowcase, they dont have big rollercoasters. but in futureworld, they have a lot of stuff to do there for kids.
epcot is considered _the adult park_, so they probably wanted something for the kids (older kids obviously) to do while the adults are having fun at worldshowcase.
basically, when you put these two worlds together, you make a great themepark.

  • I think the idea of putting these two concepts together came from the Worlds Fairs that had been going on since the mid 1800_s. Two of the major features of these fairs were displays of technological inventions and advancements, and national pavilions showing the culture of various countries.

  • Neither was working separately. They couldn_t figure out what was missing and then someone noticed they fit together so they moved the model together and viola, it worked.

  • Both parks on their own were too small. For this reason they merged the two into one larger park.
I agree they are nothing alike.
  • What are some hipster neighborhoods in San Francisco and Chicago?|106118

Every big city has them. In Los Angeles they_re Silver Lake and Echo Park. In New York it_s Williamsburg (and some other parts of Brooklyn). I_m not too familiar with Chicago and San Francisco, so what are the quintessential hipster neighborhoods in those cities? If there are hipster neighborhoods in some other cities (D.C., Baltimore, Miami...?, St. Louis...?) I_d like to hear about those too!

  • The hipster stronghold in San Francisco is the Mission District. Hipsters hang out in other parts of the city but this the primary location.

Also, if no attendent for change, there s/b a bill changer (1 5 10 - 20) beside booth. This happened to my spouse. It increased from $1 - $5 very quickly. I think there_s penalties on penalties.

  • How long does it take to transfer between Chicago Ohare concourse C and concourse E?|125029

I have a short connection (1 hour) - will I have to go through security? How long does the transfer take between the concourses?

  • It_s going to take a while. You have to go through the tunnel from C to B... then walk through B.... then transfer terminals... then re-enter security....

    You should just fly direct.

  • .

  • One hour should be fine. 30 minutes is worst case to get from Concourse C in Terminal 1 to Concourse E in Terminal 2. You will have to walk a ways, but you don_t have to be a perfect physical specimen to make in on time.

Connections between Terminals 1, 2 and 3 are all beyond the security checkpoint, so you won_t have to worry about having to get do TSA again unless you do end up leaving the terminal.

And that will happen if you try to take the PeopleMover trains between terminals. At least you won_t have to walk between terminals, but you_ll have to get past TSA again.

  • It shouldn_t take that long, you won_t hve that far to go. I_d say about 30 minutes, tops. (depending, of course, on what time of day your arrive, what day of the week, etc. For instance, if you were transferring at 10 p.m. on a Tuesday, it probably wouldn_t be that difficult to get from one to the other.)

    http://www.chicagotraveler.com/chicago-o

  • Anyone who tells you 30 minutes is a true optimist.

    A. It_s a long walk and depending on the time of day you may have some _people traffic_ slowing you down.

    B. You have to go through another security check point and depending on the time of day and the number of screeners and machines, that alone can take 1/2 hour, especially if they pull you aside for _special screening_.

    C. Concourse E is no little place. You may have a 10-15 minute jog if your plane is at the end of the concourse.

    D. You actually have to be on the plane a minute before they close the doors or some of the airlines will refuse to board you.

You might be able to do it in an hour, especially between 11 am-1 pm or after 8 pm and before 4 am. But the rest of the day is a crap shoot. But then, this is why I prefer flying out of Midway whenever I can.

How do I pass time on a 21 hour bus ride?|158715

My bestfriend and I would like to go to florida for spring break (broke college students) and I thought riding Grey Hound would be cheaper (which it was) but the bus ride would take 21 hours at the least. How can we pass time?

  • talk to your friend, listen to music, count cars by color, bring something to read, play a game, ask the tour guide irrelevant questions, take photos, sleep, poke the people who fell asleep with a long stick, talk with other passengers, make plans for the places you will visit, introspect, try to see how long you can stare at other passengers before they are notisably uncomfortable, call people or txt them, (if you can) log in to messenger or facebook, search for things on mystergoogle.com (and if you get a mission, go with it), record yourself talking and compare it to the way you hear your voice, prank calls, make up a _historical fact_ or strange memory about the place you_re at and share it with someone else in a serious tone (if the person catches you blame it on the information on wikipedia), or try answering questions on yahoo answers

  • Well at least you will have a friend with you and not be alone.
Take things like a DS system or iPod touch so you can play some games and listen to music, some embroidery floss to make friendship bracelets(even if you just end up giving or throwing them away later... it_s cheap entertainment and will keep you busy a few hours), maybe a few magazines. And I_d also suggest arranging your schedule before the long ride so that you are tired and can sleep a good amount of the trip.

  • Going with a best friend is definitely always better than going alone.

Heck, talking to each other would be fine too, just as long as you two have something to talk about. I suggest for you two to bring a set of cards to. There_s plenty of card games you two can play while on the bus. Maybe bring chess, checkers, etc. Although sitting side by side may be a bit hard, but you can always turn your bodies a bit to face each other.

If you two have phones, text other friends or call to converse with them too. Maybe bring some sort of game system so you can pass time.

  • OK`_ just for the purpose of having something to do on your ride !?! Here_s just ONE idea that me _ a few friends used to do while on the school bus to _ from school later after school on the way home !!!... Mention a favorite make of car !! As for me: I always or mostly picked the corvette !!! Now the idea was to spot as many of that kind of car we_d see on the streets _ or the high-way!?! _ ofcourse it was indicated by screaming out... _That_s my corvette_ !! lol. _ at times it be others that would want to join in !! So at times we could only shout out/claim a corvette only if it_s our favorite color !!!

  • Well if you don_t get car sick, you can read or play DS (if you like those). But if you want to do something together or you do get carsick, you can always share headphones and listen to music, or talk...and talk...and talk some more. My family always passes the time by playing those games almost every family has, like the ABC game or twenty questions or _I Spy_. If I was in college, I would definitely play the ABC game. lol

  • Play car games, read a book or magazine, play I spy, try to find a licence plate for each state as you drive, play punch buggy- each time you see a volzwagon beatle you say punch buggy, do cross word puzzles, word searches, do suduku, lots of stuff you can do. You can sleep, talk to each other, eat snacks, etc. Have fun.

  • i live in florida and we once took a trip to south carolina in a bus. now i know its alot shorter drive but still we played gameboys or whatver and listened to ipods , heck even a little reading. what i suggest most though is either a good game or book, something that will keep u interested the whole time. or you could just not sleep the night before and then sleep on the bus, we did that too

  • I_m going to haft to go with an iPod touch you can get on the internet (that is if the bus has free wifi) also you can put trait games on it listen to
music and watch movie tv shows and music videos. Hope this helps have fun on the trip.

  • I went to Florida with the High School Band this summer. It was a 24 hour bus ride to and from Florida. I listened to my Ipod and wrote a few chapters of my novel on the way down there. Writing and drawing helps to pass the time. If you_re really bored, take a nap.

  • Sleep, bring snacks, a portable gaming system, like PSP or DS, a music player is a must for me, cellphone, notepad and pen (doodle, play games like tic-tac-toe with your friend, etc.) make sure to charge everything.

  • Bring an iPod, itouch would be the best. Listening to music always helps pass time and if that dosent work you can always play a game or watch a movie.

  • Electronics is your answer. Ipod, entertaining phone, laptop. I dont recommend it but if you have school work you could easily finish it up. If you have no one sitting next to u stretch on the seat and take a nap

  • play the notebook game where you make a circle and keep adding things on to it to make a silly faces its a kinda a dumb game but its fun and passes time

  • Nintendo DS or a book.

  • hey get a PSP or get a portable dvd player

  • talk

  • lots of drugs and alcohol, LOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • How could I get to the metropolitan museum from the Staten Island ferry terminal in Manhattan?|192428

Like what train can I take and where do I get off. Thanks!

  • Here_s how to get from Staten Island Ferry Terminal in South Ferry to the Metropolitan Museum.

Step 1: take the uptown (northbound) _R_ or _W_ train (Yellow Line on the subway map) from Whitehall Street-South Ferry to Lexington Avenue-59th Street.

Step 2: at Lexington Avenue-59th Street, transfer downstairs to the #4 or 5 subway lines (Green Line). Take the uptown (northbound) #4 or 5 train from 59th Street to 86th Street.

Step 3: at 86th Street, transfer upstairs, at street level, to the M86 bus. Take the westbound bus, going to the West Side, from Lexington Avenue and 86th Street to 84th Street and 5th Avenue.

I hope this information is very helpful.

    Good luck
    Native New Yorker

  • Walk into Battery Park and get an uptown 5 train at Bowling Green. Get off at 86th Street, walk west to 5th Avenue (if you walk east towards 3rd Avenue, you_re going the wrong way). At 5th, make a left and walk to that huge building across the street down a couple of blocks at around 82nd-83rd Streets. That_s it.

Alternatively, you can get an uptown R or W at Whitehall Street, and transfer to an uptown 4 or 5 at 14th Street/Union Square, then get off at 86th as described above.
