What is a good ski tour company leaving regularly from Orange County to Mammoth or Big bear?|129162

I want to take a weekend trip on January 25-27. What are some good companies that cater to individuals and groups?

  • query Mammoth online -you will find a plethora of info.
  • Whats the best way to get from Chicago Ohare to Rush Street in the Near North Side area?|127802

What are the best and fastest ways to get from the airport to Near North Side in Chicago and how long would different methods of transportation take?? (eg train, cab).. Also if anyone knows the costs of transport to the area that would be great too!

  • The Blue line _L_ leaves O_Hare every 15 minutes and costs $2.25. You can take this to the Loop and transfer (for free) to the Red line that will take you to Rush Street!

  • When you get on the Red Line subway, get off at Grand and State.
  • What do you like best about the idea of renting a Vacation Home Rental instead of a Hotel?|119308

I_ve been researching Vacation Rentals and alot of people i_ve talked to Really like the Idea. Whats everybody elses thoughts?
Whats the deciding factor in your decision to rent a vacation home instead of a hotel.
    Thanks

  • We use a timeshare place, with two bedrooms, and a full kitchen. I love to cook, and we travel with another couple. We all have privacy, and there is a great living area for TV when we are too exhausted to go out. Always get a place with lots to do in the area, like Orlando, Daytona Beach, or a place in the mountains. Hotels are too boring, and there isn_t room to spread out.

  • Well I like the idea of vacation rental or time shares because you can take day one and clean it from top to bottom. You can eliminate so many germs that way. Also it can be cheaper depending on the time of year. If it is fully equipped you can also save by cooking your own meals. Not that I would want to cook on my vacation.

  • i too recently starting using only vacation rentals: much more space, kitchen for your own food, usually not much more expensive than a hotel

  • we rented a vacation house at christmas in california. we chose a house instead of hotel so we could cook our own food, have the entire family together in the morning and nights instead of seperate hotel rooms, and we have little kids so they could have more room to play. honestly, for a family trip it was great we spent tim together and relaxed. if it was a quick trip or we had a lot to do everyday(and will be gone alot) a hotel is good, but the house was good to relax on the beach.
  • How long does it take for mail to go to aurora to chicago IL?|186923

This includes putting it into the mailbox and the mailman getting it, i know they have to put it into the post office and then send it out. but how long does it take? i know when mailing to saint charles it took about 7 or 8 days until it got to the person. but chicago is closer so should the time be shorter?

  • it just depends what time you drop the letter off it could be as little as 2 days and as long as 4 days

  • It should take 2 days to get a letter from Aurora to Chicago. That is provided that the letter was placed in the collection box before the last pick up for the day. If it was after the cutoff time, add one additional day.

The Aurora to St Charles time should have been the next day. If it takes longer, blame it on a bad Zip Code, non readable address or other issues which can occasionally happen. Also, don_t overlook the possibility that the recipient didn_t look at their mail for a week.

  • It depends on the time you put it in the mailbox. It should take about two days. If you sent a letter from Aurora to St. Charles, it should take a day or two. If it took longer, it may not have been properly addressed.

  • it should NOT take longer than One day or Two at the MOST...
Thats guaraneed, unless the Aurora post office is too lazy and thats why it took 7 days to get to St. Charles...
  • Why is very difficult for poor to get standard education that can fetch them bigger in come?|187404

Travelly make it very easy to be international expose and current. etc.!!!
I believe the above idea but to you do you and the others do you support the idea?

  • ecause the way seems to be to keep the poor, poor. and the rich get richer. I think $$ is a form of social segregation!

  • If you are determined to get a good education, you will! Listening to your friends or shithouse lawyers wont get you anywhere but unfortunately alot of smart poor kids get held back that way.
There are so many bright young kids out there who have great potential but see that having a gun and stupid friends might be enough to be liked and have a place to stay...
I remember my friends son telling me that he does not need good grades in school because hell live off wellfare like mom when hes grown up... his mom was so shocked that she got her behind out of the house the next day and got herself a job. Her life has changed alot - wohoo!!! but up until that day I was the only person her son knew who had a higher education so he thought I was exotic...
Luckily, thats a couple of years ago, his grades are great and he changed schools, thinks he might want to go to college and keeps asking me for opinions on that :-D
Where am I going with this?
Well, I think alot of kids are held back by negative influence. There are more scholarships out there for poor kids than there are opportunities for middle-class kids whose parents dont really have the money for their college education either, but not enough of the poor kids are using those resources. They need better role models and teachers that dont see the rebellious ghetto kid but rather the bright mind behind the front!

  • i would have to say in my humble opinion, lack of effective management or leadership in 3rd world nations makes it hard for any international organization to implement such measures that will ensure consistant growth in educated population and most 3rd worl nations suffer from some dispute within or with external powers and so governemts agenda_s tend to be more focused in preventing the situations from escalating into disasters or into resolving economic problems created by the economic sanctions put in place by IMF and other world organization to try pressure tyrannical governments into handing over the country or to promote democracy i am no expert but thats my opinion, hope that helps
  • What are some cheap things to do on a date in Chicago in winter besides ice skating?|151296

What are some cheap things to do and eat in Chicago in the winter. I_m already planing on going ice skating in Millennium Park. What else is there to do?

  • All the museums have at least one free day a month. That_s a great date idea, in my opinion. This website lists the free days:
    http://www.chicagotraveler.com/chicago-p

Or you can always check out the museum websites. My personal favorite is the Field Museum.

  • Well the Auto Show is in February and is the most attended one in the world. If you like hockey the Chicago Blackhawks are a playoff caliber team that play at the United Center. On Sunday only, they are letting people skate at the ice rink at Wrigley Field. Besides that there are not a lot you can do that is cheap, and maybe consider doing something inside because it might be a little cold.

You should double check these free days.

  • What is the tackiest hotel on the Vegas strip?|161913

Im going for my 21st in October and I want a truley tacky Las Vegas experience. I want to be directly on the strip tho and I wold prefer to spend less than 200 a night. Any suggestions of hotels or anything to do while we are there?

  • gotta be the Tropicana
Dirty and smell of urine naer the pool and elevators to the tower.
This place has really run it self down.

  • Not sure what you mean by tacky, but if you mean old-school, try Tropicana or Harrah_s or even Excalibur. If you want a little farther down on the strip, there_s the Sahara. Most of the casinos on the strip are pretty new or renovated, though. If you_re looking to go to clubs, LAX at the Luxor is great. It_s very spacious and near the bathrooms there_s a sitting area (cause we girls know how rough heels can be when dancing!). For a smaller and less crowded venue, try Revolution at the Mirage. The drinks at the Abbey Bar (just outside of Revolution) are AMAZINGG. Plus, if you stop by the gift shop at the Mirage (as you come in from the strip just across from the burger shop), they have coupons next to the resturaunt for ladies to get in for free and guys to get a discounted entrance! Avoid Tao and Pure, unless you_re into that crowd of course, because the line is long and it is usually packed during the summer with people trying to see celebrities, which you have a better chance of seeing in L.A. than Vegas.

P.S. If you really want to party it up, DON_T buy _discounted_ passes from guys on the strip. These passes are usually available from the gift shops, or from promo people walking around the casino.

  • Well do you mean like stuck in the 70s tacky? Or do you mean over the top glitzy kinda tackey?

    - Tropicana would be the example of an old school hotel that is extremely tacky and stuck in a different time. Imperial palace also, as well as circus circus and the Riviera.

    - More modern tackey would be Treasure Island, luxor, excalibur, and planet hollywood.

  • 200 a nite will get you nice room on the strip. Mirage or Cesar_s nice. Bills is pretty dirty low down. You may have to go off the strip to Binnions or Horribles or one of the older hotels downtown. I cant confirm it but I hear roaches have been spotted at the rivera.

  • 200 for tacky?!?! not possible, if u want tacky go down to freemont street, just plain gross, strippers roam street from early morn to late, and all kinds of crazy/tacky things going on...and u can get room for really cheap, prob around 20 a night..good luck and have fun, major props to wut ur doin, just dont know why lol

  • There is NO tackey hotel on the famous Strip. But for $200 check out Circus Circus, Sahara, Tropicana, or Imperial Palace. Those are holder properties that might meet your unusal desires.

  • if its still there Bob Stupaks Vegas World. worst place i ever stayed.
  • When will we see the first Native American president of the USA?|161515

Everyone is talking about the first _black_ president or maybe the first _female_ president and how it is about time etc etc etc, but what about the Native Americans? Who do they vote for? Who is their political leader and voice and will we ever see a Native American president?

  • There has been Native American senators. As mentioned above Nightingale may be one of the most famous.

Even a Vice President said he had some Native blood but I never looked into that. If he did he wasn_t active in the culture.
Although Winona Laduke ran as Vice President with Ralph Nader a few years back. They got a lot of votes considering they weren_t one of the two major parties.

I wish it were different but to be honest I don_t see the American population as being ready for a Native President.
The reason I say this is because so many people believe that Natives are out to get the _Whites_ and if we ever had too much power in this country we would take all our land back etc.. etc... There is just so much fear, stereotypes, and more when it comes to the history of this Nation that people are not willing to face yet.

Having said that most people do have some Native blood in them so I am talking of a Native person who is active in their culture. And I think there is MANY people in Native country who could be a good US President. I also think there are many who would _wash out_ and may be able to get elected but it wouldn_t make once difference after they were....

Well this is a complicated question. Those are my initial thoughts. I_m a Native woman by the way.

  • well.... no actually when the governement allowed natives to run their own goverment it kinda just set us aside away from mainstream society..... so we are pushed aside while the illegal immigrants (whites not mexicans) build cities, and settle. Natives arent gonna be able to anytime soon,

  • There have been Native American senators and congressmen. Most notable one was Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell of Colorado.

  • Never, back during the western expansion we exterminated most At them, now they_re in little Indian reserves with casino in it. we may have a Mexican decedent at one point in the near future.

  • Well
As mentioned we have had several Native American congressmen. We still have various tribal reservations-each tribe elects their own leaders. These reservations are rather dispersed across several states.

All Native Americans can register to vote in both state and national elections. And several are very much involved in out national political process.

One of our states-Louisiana just elected an ethic Indian (the country of India) as their governor. Thus racial bias-while it still exists in some places has sharply diminished.

  • I know what you mean, but that question is more like an Oxymoron. All Americans born in America and have forefathers in America, or rather have an American heritage are _Native_ Americans.
  • What to see and where to eat in New york?|127321

    Hi all,
I know this question has probably been asked before, I am planning on seeing all the obvious Empire state, Central Park, night time bus tour of Manhattan, a broadway show. I am going with my husband and wondered if anyone knew of any place that was worth a visit other than these well known places, I suppose I_m looking for the not so usual tourist attractions worth a visit. Also any really good restaurants I love most types of cuisine and am open to any suggestions could anyone reccomend the best restaurant they have been to in the Little Italy district? I am going on Wednesday and can_t wait it is my second trip to NY and my husbands first so a million thanks to anyone that can reccomend places to go or eat.

  • You can try Ruby Foo_s in Times Square, it is an Asian Fusion restaurant which is really quite good, if a bit pricey.

If you_re feeling really adventurous, venture to my boro of Brooklyn. You can go to the Brooklyn Botanical gardens which are beautiful this time of year and have a meal at the absolutely fabulous River Cafe. I have had some of the best meals of my life at this restaurant on a barge in the East River with a beautiful view of lower Manhattan.

  • Mars 2112 its a cool restaurant.

  • Tony DiNapoli_s is a great Italian restaurant..

  • Go to Katz_s Deli in Lower East Side, Check it out on the web. It is the real thing. That is where everyone famous and some movies were made _Where Harry met Sally_, etc. I took my friend from London there and she had here first Hot Pastrami Sandwich on Real Jewish Rye. She was gaga over the authenticity. You can share a sandwich, you have your own meat cutter and he will give you samples to taste. ($1.00 tip in his cup) _Lovely_ Sue said.

  • YOU may love little Italy great Authentic food, lovey italy streeet settings!

  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is amazing to see. They have a great section that has Greek and Roman exhibit. It is $20 for adults per ticket. It is on 5th Avenue in Manhattan
