What are some good places to visit in Alaska?|158470

I_m thinking about moving to Alaska but want to go and visit for a few weeks before I move there. I_d kind of like to get a feel for the whole state so I plan on keeping on the move and visiting several different parts.

  • Be sure to include Southeast Alaska in your travels. Juneau and Sitka are a little isolated, but Haines and Skagway are on the road system. I can tell you more if you_re interested. Let me know.

  • I used to live in Fairbanks. It is a great place to see. Also about an hour noth of fairbanks is chena hot springs. Here is a website.

If you have any other questions just ask- my parents still live up there.

  • The hot spots are along the South East coastal lines of Alaska. I have lived in Sitka and Cordova also been through Haines the eagles are the best and moste exciting to see moste of all. People here in Alaska like to see the glaciers calving. The best way to see them would be going on a tour boat like Kenai Fjords Tours

Another hot spot is Seward, in which cruise ships make a stop from early part of May to mid Sept.

  • Near eagle river..north of anchorage, there is a Russian Cemetary at the ELKUTNA exit. Its one of my favorite places to see up here.
  • What is fun to do in denver, co at night for ages 18 and under?|139667

My boyfriend and i are stuck at home for spring break and we need something exciting to do for cheap!

  • Be creative, you can find a way to acquire a keg (convince an older friend or sibling to buy it) and have all your friends over and throw a rager. Kegs are only about $50 (which is cheap) and you can charge $3 per cup and make a profit if you get enough people to come.

Yeah, go ahead and give me a _thumbs down._ I_m fun and honest, which is why I have 57% best answers, while the museum/shopping crowd has under 10%.

  • You can go to Colorado Mills Mall, downtown Denver, Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, Butterfly Pavillion, or Belmar or to Boulder.

  • indoor skydiving :))
    omg it_s sooooo fun!
    [[not scary]]

    eh, kinda expensive though.
    but definitely worth it

  • I_m not from Denver but there_s loads of things to do.... its a bigger, more lively place than where I live now and I always manage to have a great time

  • Besides going to a movie (which I think is fun anyway!) you could go to a play at the Denver performing arts center (sorry, I can_t remember what it_s called, but it_s really nice), or a concert (they have just about all the stars) but my top recommendation would be Elitch Gardens. Once in the regular season, they_re open _till 9pm. They really up-ed their game when they broke off from the Six Flags franchise. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is fun, but the only things to do in the evening is IMAX movies (they don_t have the Hollywood movies, only the educational ones) and sometimes they have a special exhibition that has evening tickets available. Denver isn_t the best place for night-time activities, but you can still have fun!

  • goto 6 flags, imax, dave and busters, 16th street mall, im not familuar that much anymore i have moved to phx,az

    QUAKE22 GOOD answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • What is the difference between a hoagie and a sandwich?|160561

I don_t understand it. You can put the same ingredients between two slices of bread. I guess what I am after is what really makes a hoagie a hoagie??

  • You make a sandwich at home.

A hoagie is bought from a Mom and Pop store on the corner, and it has lunch meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a delicious oil on an Amaroso roll.

I live in Los Angeles. I cannot get a hoagie here :-(

    Can you send me one?

  • Amoroso_s rolls are what make a hoagie a hoagie!

  • __The hoagie (aka hero, submarine, grinder, and poor boy (or po_ boy)) is a sandwich defined by the bread- a small Italian (originally) or French bread loaf and its amount of stuffing (large compared to the average sandwich). Some of the names and the composition vary regionally, but the real deal is always a BIG sandwich.

  • I grew up in Philly and have heard many variations, but i beleive the commonly accepted historical source for the word hoagie, came from the old time Hog Island workers and the unusually long , overstuffed sandwiches they became known for bringing to work with them. It was often two meals for them since their shifts were so long. It became a popular regional treat and then grew from there! A hoagie is basically a sandwich overstuffed on a long roll, normally italian. And if you are from the area it has to be Amoroso_s bread ... mmmmmmm I miss it!

  • A hoagie is made on a hoagie roll which contains more breading than a thin piece of bread.

  • Usually a hoagie is an open faced sand which and it has been baked or broiled in an oven and a sand which has not

  • You gotta use the right roll to make a hoagie and S Philly has the best bakery_s for rolls and Amoroso_s is one of the most popular rolls to use. But it isn_t a hoagie if it is on bread it is just another sandwich.

  • A hoagie is a type of bread, a sandwich is a general term. All hogies are sandwiches, but not many sandwiches are hoagies.
  • How can I kill 4 hours in downtown Albuquerque? Should I stay in a hotel, or take the bus home that night?|160958

Next week I (and probably 1 other friend) am taking the bus to Albuquerque to see a free concert of my favorite band. The bus arrives 4 hours before the venue opens. Is there enough to do and see in downtown ABQ to kill the time? And also, there is a bus that goes back that night at 4:25 AM, would it better to take that bus home, skip the hotel all together and save a little extra cash?

  • I think the bus drops you off on 1st street right down town. It depends where the concert is, the convention center, which is downtown, Tingly, which is at the fair grounds, or the Journal which is out by the airport. There is not much to do down town. I would probably get a room and even rent a car. Everything is pretty spread out. If you had a car you could go ride the Sandia tram then get to the concert! Not sure when the bus will leave that next day but it_s never that fun to sleep in the station! I would get a room! Good luck!
