Where in missouri or illinois can I find a romantic cabin rental with a hot tub?|102047

Looking to plan out a winter trip to a small cabin in the woods and cant really find anything. If anyone has any ideas that would be great!

  • What a great idea. I love staying in cabins they really can be very romantic. I might try the Birds Nest Lodge in Steelville MO. They have this beautiful cabin called the loft which does have a private hot tob. Getting there in winter weather should not be a problem. We have stayed in several of the cabins there and love it.

I might also check out Big Cedar Lodge. Awesome place with a wonderful staff and beautiful accomdations. It is a resort however it is just beautiful anytime of year. They do have cabins and they are just awesome to stay in. We have enjoyed several stays here. They do have one room cottages with a fireplace and a hot tub, we enjoyed ours.

Rustic Hideaway Cabins which are really nice. They are located in Southern IL. We stayed here a few years ago and loved it! They do have a hot tub and the place is very clean and the people who rent them are wonderful!

    Good Luck!
  • Where is the best to live in or near Dallas with good school system?|126962

Im considering moving to Dallas. Im an RN and finding a job will be the easy part. Im needing suggestions regarding school systems. Which areas have good school systems? Should I live outside Dallas? If so, what town? Will be renting an apartment, so any suggestions regarding would be really helpful.

  • The northern suburbs are the best. Plano, Frisco, Lewisville, and Richardson are nice areas.

  • If you want to be in the city then Dallas is okay, there are small towns like Lucas within commuting range so you can have the best of both worlds. But I would suggest you work in McKinney which is less than 30 minutes from Dallas but is growing yet still real pleasant, Lowry Crossing or Princeton [which has a high quality school system] are real short hops from there but offer nice homes not double-wides, on land, for great prices, like 1,900 sq ft on 1 acre for around $155k. If you like the coast, consider Galveston or Corpus Christi. Avoid Houston, it is over-populated due to refugees from Katrina. Cost of living is much lower in TX and there is a huge range of terrain and climate.

One of the best things with Cities in Texas, if you can work a schedule that is a little off the normal hours, traffic isn_t bad. Living in the McKinney area gives you country living but short drives to all the amenities of the city. Dallas museums, opera, symphony, landmarks, restaurants, race tracks (dirt track, drag racing, TX Motorspeedway for NASCAR). Hospitals in McKinney, Allen, Plano, Richardson, Dallas: Healthsouth, Presbyterian, Baylor etc.
It is important to understand the difference between driving commutes in NJ/TX; if I work late the I can make the 27 mile route home from Dallas, in 35 minutes, w/o breaking the speed limit, as there are only 2 lights _ 1 Stop sign. At rush hour I take back roads, 24 miles, yet still make the trip in under an hour, sometimes as quick as 45 minutes.

Helpful Texas sites below, some of the places are a ways from Dallas, like Galveston at 300 miles, but due to open highways that_s only 5-6 hours, most folks think nothing of making a run like that for a 3 or 4 day weekend. Email me any questions:

  • Plano, Frisco or Southlake

  • Plano is the best and it has the best top of the line hospitals as well. Plano ISD is the best, almost equal to private schools, high with technology and best in nation.
Baylor hospitals in Plano are great, and they just opened Bayloy Heart hospital and its the state of art _ technology. Move to Plano, its only 20 min to downtown Dallas, if you have to go! You will find everything in Plano. West Plano is more trendy specially Preston @ Park, Park @ Dallas Tollway (Willow Bend area). East Plano is less developed, cheaper to live, with lots of parks and less crowded and some sketchy neighborhoods.
2 bedroom apartment could run $700-$1100

  • How are the Mississippi beach fronts after Katrina?|124871

We would like to visit the Gulfport Boloxi area to bring them some of our tourist money and I am having a tough time finding Hotels (that are still standing). Where is a good place look for hotels, B_B_s etc Casinos, sight seeing. Are the beaches still wiped out or do some beach front hotels still exist? Thanks much!

  • The best casino to stay in is Beau Rivage. The beaches are OK, still not up to par and nothing compared to Florida beaches. The Hard Rock Casino is nice as well, across the street is Island View and a nice place. All have buffets. Not a lot of the historic homes still there. Long recovery still ahead but they have made a lot of headway.

  • Yeah1 They are totally back to normal. We went to the beach this summer and all the mansions and hotels are back up. The only thing I don_t know about is the casino but I think they are back up if everything else is. Go ahead and have fun! We did!

    CHEERHEAD:)
  • What do u think would be the most important steps to take in relocating ?|124180

Besides finding a job and a place to live.

  • Visit the place for several vacations. One whole week during each season. (to make sure the weather is tolerable)

Check the cost of housing as apposed to where you are currently living. Is it more or less?

Check the different types of jobs do they pay more or less?

Public transportation? Free museums, zoos, cultural activities?

Crime rate compaired to the place where you currently live?

The hospitals? How do they rate compaired to where you live?

The people, check them out. Go to the grocery store are they friendly and smile? Go to the park? Are they nice?

The schools? How do they rate? Are they better or worse than where you live?

  • schools ( if you have kids)
city life ( if you like to party)
    political demographics

  • The most important step you can take well before finding a job and a place to live would be to save a fairly significant amount of money, at least $10-15,000. In my experience everything always ends up costing more when you move and there are always unexpected expenses. This is especially true if you will be moving to Southern California.

    Good luck!

  • After you get a job and a place to live...

you have to get all your utilities started at your new place before you move in
Get your mail forwarded through the post office
and have all your utilities turned off and paid for when you leave your old place.

Don_t run from those bills - they effect your credit rating, so have them paid off and TURNED OFF, so you aren_t being charged for utilities you aren_t using.

Prepare to change banks, also, if your old bank is not available nationwide. You_ll need to close out your old bank account and open up a new one.

Don_t forget to provide your new address to all your credit cards.

  • 1. Cost of living: Will it be compatible to what you are accustomed to?

    2. Areas to live: Look at where you are planning to live both day and night. In LA, areas can highly vary.

    3. Activity: What do you like to do? Will the place where you are planning to relocate to offer your activities?

    4. Pace: Will the place where you are planning to relocate to offer the pace that you want.

  • You may want to look at the schools, how much is the income level there because it varies from state to state, how much is living cost, price of gas, the laws (don_t move to Oregon they have messed up laws), and the list goes on.............Good luck with your move!

  • Well, what else is there. Find a place to live and a job.....um..........break your lease or sell your existing place. Contact all companies for which you pay bills and give them your new address. Send a postcard to all of your friends and family. Cancel your utilities in the old place and activate in the new place.
