How many coffee shops are there in Seattle?|187935

I_m doing research for some students and am trying to find out how many coffee shops, stands, cafes... (Starbucks, Tullys, SBC, independent...) are actually in Seattle. Would really appreciate a source also. Thank you in advance!

  • goggle maps list 9,368 - although having lived in Seattle I_d say that is a conservative estimate.

  • I don_t drink coffee

  • Oh, dear God--where to begin. You can_t swing a dead cat without hitting one. There are actually intersections with one on every corner. I would estimate that if NYC has 100,000 restaurants, that Seattle has about half that many coffee shops, counting the entire Metro area and everything that could be considered a _coffee shop._ Coffee is a way of life in Seattle nowadays--the _latte lifestyle,_ if you will.

  • How many street corners are there in Seattle?

  • Which block are we talking about? Where is there NOT a coffee shop!?!

  • The coffee addicted capital of the world,_SEATTLE_Wa.

  • You could probably find out by contacting the chamber of commerce.
  • What is the best/safest place to live in the United States?|130159

Based upon a worst case scenario and these criteria: away from nuclear power plants, military bases, fault lines, volcanoes, low lying coastal areas and large populations.

Does such a place exist inside the 48?

  • Pittsburgh, PA.

  • Any place you live will have a down side. You cant be paranoid of about all the potentials for disaster. I think if you choose Hawaii (for example) select a safer zone away from the volcano area. Many of the islands have no volcanic activity. California does have earthquakes but some areas are very safe and are not on the fault line and the weather is good. You just have to use some common sense. Oregon has some safe areas!

  • Warwick, RI. We don_t have to worry about any environmental crisises, population of 85808, and as much as we can all get bored of where we live I wouldn_t move anywhere else.

  • I would suggest that your risk perception is very different than the actual risks you incur. For example, being away from large population centers will result in you being far from good hospitals. It could lengthen your commute-- one of the deadliest things in the US (car accidents _ recent research about air pollution in traffic jams).

While nuclear power plants may sound scary, no civilian in the US has ever been documented as dying from nuclear power-- and their relative risk (e.g. calculated odds from cancer) are likely far lower than those of coal plants.

If you do make your decision on this, I would suggest researching which states/regions have the longest life expectancy. Then I would diet and exercise. That_s probably a much bigger deal than volcanoes.

  • Central Louisiana No hurricanes No Tornadoes No Fires No Earth Quakes No Crime No Humidity No Mosquito_s No Water Shortage !

  • Yes... some places in the south... Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky, even West Virginia maybe...
  • Just curious. Who has driving distance of over an hour to work and how is it like? How do you manage?|162444

Im asking because, Im trying to decide weather or not to take a job?. The distance from where i live right now is 1 and half hours. I live in a really small town in michigan and there are barely any jobs around here and the nearest is in bigger cities. I dont know weather I should do this or not. I was planning on moving to Kalamazoo michigan which is 40 minutes from the job but wont be moved in until end of july. What is your suggestion. Thanx in advance

  • Hi there!
I_ve driven anywhere from 30 minute to 1 hr 45 minutes (15 min. of traffic) to get to work!
In all honesty, it gets very monotonous unless you have nice scenery or countryside to travel through (not likely though!)
I would suggest moving, because you_ll save yourself some piece of mind, some sleep, some sanity, and when its all said and done- quite a bit of gas money!

How did i manage? Audio books on tape..I found that I was stimulating my brain as well as passing time..(just make sure to watch the road though! haha)
I also just listened to the radio, NPR, cds, XM, that type of thing..or pretend that whatever song came on next I was going to sing like I was auditioning for american idol.
(yes..i got weird looks, but the time passed)

Best of luck to you :)

  • Thanks for the advice, It really helped me with my long drive I had to my interview. Dont know if I got the position yet.!!!!

  • Don;t know what whay kind of job, but can you work from home?
Lots of people do that now instead of commuting.

  • I will say get it! I did not have a car so I needed to take the bus. The bus takes 2 hrs TWO LONG HOURS! in a car just 30 min. I did it and thanks to that I was able to buy a car!

  • Well I drive about 45 minutes to work, and well if you aint used of it then you might not like it. I mean get some tunes to listen to, take ur phone wit u, it took me about 5 months to get used of the long drive but now its nothing, 45 minutes breezes by and i dont even care about how long it takes. You will get used of it in time. Hope this helps ya out and good luck on ur job if u get it.

  • I do. I leave my home at 745am drive my boys (4,1) to grammas for day care, then go to work on the opposite side of town. I don_t mind cause I drive a Hyundai which saves on gas, but the travel time is terrible if I don_t get my coffee first! Do you value sleeping in? Or can you go to bed early?
  • How much snow is on the ground in Old Forge, NY at this time?|111533

  • Where can I find a complete list of all organizations in the Baltimore and Washington DC areas?|124617

By organizations I mean all businesses, nonprofit organizations, and advocacy groups. This is really urgent, so please help me to find a resource that has this information.

  • You can do searches for non-profits at GuideStar by location (_advanced search_ by state -- includes D.C. -- and/or city, such as Baltimore); however, you_d have to enter suburban cities for Washington, D.C. to be most inclusive of the Metro D.C. area (like Arlington or Alexandria, VA, etc.), if that is your request/need.
  • Where is the warmest and cheapest place to travel?|122526

I need to fly out of Edmonton Alberta and get some warm!! Anyone want to come?

  • Florida, Vegas in the Spring, Texas, Southern California, Bahamas. I would recommend checking out the website BookMe dot com. You can compare ALL the reputable travel sites, and save money. Good luck!

  • If you don_t mind staying in hostel( $24 per night), then California is nice places to go, many beach, park, food is cheap and delicious.

  • Florida,Texas

  • texas, georgia
  • Looking for a safe part of Moreno Valley to buy a house?|108089

We_ve been looking for houses in Moreno Valley, but they seem like such bad areas compared to where we live now. Most of the houses look beautiful, but the people look dirty and disruptive, and I checked the crime rate on most of the addresses and they weren_t that great, although it wasn_t absolutely horrible. Can someone please tell me some safe parts of Moreno Valley, or how I can know when the realtor takes us to a home if it_s a good neighborhood or not?

  • I used to work as a paramedic in moreno valley a couple years ago before I moved to Texas. I responded to all kinds of calls throughout the city. Moreno Valley has nice parts and bad parts. Its pretty much split. The thing about moreno valley is that there are a lot of thuggish people in that city that are straight from the hood of compton and south central LA that were forced out in the 90s when the government came in and bought their houses out to build the 105 freeway that goes through the middle of south Central LA. The thug people live in really nice houses that they are barely able to afford. I lived down south and up north. Up north (off of 60 freeway and Day Street) the neighborhood is decent but had drug dealing neighbors so go figure. Down south (Laselle and Iris) it is a lot nicer. the west side and central isnt all that great. It is not as nice as rancho cucamonga or murrieta/temecula but not as bad as san bernardino. Moreno Valley definitely has its fair share of crime though so just make sure you research the house or apartment before you go there. If you want more help email me
    damon.fogley@us.army.mil

  • It_s really not hard at all to tell if you have a safe neighborhood or not. Things to watch out for:

Tennis shoes on the telephone wires (drugs sold here).
    Bars on the windows
    Yards overgrown (foreclosed home/absent tenant)
Lots of foreclosed homes in the area
    Graffiti
Old junky cars parked on the street
One really nice car amongst old junky cars in the street.

    Good luck

  • Look in other areas! The I.E. has good areas Like Rancho Cucamonga, Riverside has nice parts. I have not heard good things about Moreno Valley. But there_s areas near it that may be better than Moreno. You should maybe consider that!!
