When is the best time to visit Walt Disney World?|129826

I am a Florida resident, but I was wondering when there were the biggest discounts and least busiest times. I would like to stay in a hotel there, and the time would preferably be within the next few months, (November, December, January). Thanks for your help!

  • Preferably when the kids are at school!

I often wish Disneyworld would have an adults only week, but I will not hold my breath waiting for it to happen!!!!

  • Any time school is in session is a good time. You never have to wait in a long line. The only downside is that in the winter, park hours may be limited and some rides are shut down for refurbishment (Spaceship Earth is down right now I believe not a major attraction but a fun one nonethe less.) Check with Disney if their is a ride you are really looking forward to going on to make sure it isn_t down.

  • last week in aug, and first week in sept., when kids are in school.

  • not december, forget that...its xmas season. try for the off season. the end of january would be the best and the cheapest.jope that helped! call disney if you have any further questions!

  • I usually go in January...the parks are empty, but you can_t go to the water parks because t_s not warm enough. I went in June once, NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi,
You can enjoy there between September to mid-December.
I f you want to know more information, then you can take help from this
    http://www.alwaysonvacation.com/vacation
I think it will helpfull to you.

  • go to www.waltdisneyworld.com you will seek special offers for weeks that have the lowest crowds. Thanksgiving till New Years is a busy time so I would plan on before or after. Good Luck and have a great time.

  • The weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you want to seriously save money and can borrow the stuff, consider staying in Fort Wilderness campground. It_s under $50 a night for up to 6 (maybe 8?) people and you get all the perks and privilige of a hotel guest. This is camping like no other camping. The _front desk_ will hang telephone messages on your tent (or RV) door for you and you can use your call _room service_ using your cell phone and have a bottle of wine delivered to your campsite. Bring your bicycles if you can.

  • I enjoy the first 2 weeks in February.

  • I was told the first two weeks of December..I went then, and it was not crowded at all!! My advice would be to stay ON Park grounds. I can_t tell you how much more convenient that is!

  • Doesn_t Fla residents get discounts anyway?

  • I like the last week in October, the 1st week in November and the first week in Feb. although it seems to be a little cooler then.

  • My husband, child and I went last year the last week of January and it was great. The weather was perfect, with the exception of a short morning of rain, and we were not burning up hot! Also, the lines were no more than 25 or 30 minutes for the most popular rides. I_ve been to DW many many times and never had lines this short. We are headed back the same week this year...end of January and are truly looking foward to it!! Some of the others say that Christmas is the best time to go. I think it would be great to go while it_s decorated but many families go to DW during Thanksgiving/Christmas when schools are out and that causes quite a crowd! I would wait till January. :) Have fun and maybe you will see us there!!

By the way, the best website resource I have found for my trips to DW is www.allears.net

  • Also, this month wouldn_t be a bad choice as well. If possible, do it before Thanksgiving or a few weeks before Christmas.
  • How far in advance should you make hotel reservations for New Years Eve at a hotel near Times Square?|185602

My friends and I are planning to go to Times Square for New Years Eve next year and want to make sure we get a hotel thats pretty much in Times Square (like the Marriot or something)

  • Like now!

  • call now. i am sure they have policies and procedures in place. it is never too early to call and ask. you may have to get an advanced deposit in and usually the hotels fill up in a few hours if it is extremely large.
  • What are the good and bad areas of Austin to live in?|185204

I am moving to Austin in a few months. And, I am going there next week to find housing. What are the good AND bad areas so that I know where to look for a house or apartment.
Also, does anyone have any nice 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom apartment suggestions for my daughter and I? If you have any suggestions can you direct me to their company website so I can look at pictures?
    Thanks so much!

  • East Austin is not as bad as someone above mentioned. South Austin and Downtown are pretty congested with morning and afternoon traffic, but the toll roads are going to be opening soon so this might cut the traffic a little. North Austin and even surrounding towns like Pflugerville, Round Rock, Georgetown and Cedar Park are good places to look. Apartmentguide.com is a good place to look for apartments in Austin. Especially since they have good reviews on the apartments and everything else.

  • It_s really kind of hard to answer that without knowing what appeals to you...I mean, do you want to live in an area that_s closer to Stuff to Do, would you want to be close to the Hike and Bike Trail, or do you want to live in more of a suburb type area? And what_s your price bracket? There are neighborhoods that suddenly got all full of moneyed hipsters and nobody can afford them anymore, but if you can afford it you may want that. Do you want to live close to your job? Etc.

  • I_ve lived all over Austin so I can say there really isn_t a _horrible_ part. I would stay away from East Austin from the Baseball Stadium to well below the River. If you_re looking for an apartment or duplex, check out the Parmer Lane area. Everything you need will be right at your fingertips and not much crime.

  • bad is probably high crime rate.

  • I lived around 620 and Parmer lane, there are a few nice apartment complexes near there. Spraddle Creek Apartments, do a search for that complex.

  • Yes the good areas are all the ones outside the state of texas, and the bad areas are the ones inside the city limits of Austin.
  • What is the best brand of clothing for Alaska?|184242

I_m moving to Anchorage in August. What is the best brand of jacket to buy? And the best brand of boots?

  • If you really want a warm coat, buy what outdoors people buy (they actually NEED to stay warm):

    Mountain Hardwear!!!
    Outdoor Research
    Arcteryx
    Marmot
    Patagonia (a little over-priced)
(North Face is over-priced and used to make good clothes, now its just all about fashion and prices.)

You will see a lot of people in Alaska with these brands on, and they will last for years.

  • You won_t need them in August. Wait until October to make your puchases. In October is when we (qualified Alaska residents) get our oil money proceeds - Permanent Fund Dividends. Every store in the state has huge sales so you can get more for your money then and all stores will have plenty of winter gear in stock.

Anchorage is just like every other city in the lower 48 - too noisy, too much crime, too many people, fast foods, box stores, traffic, etc. Get out of the city as often as you can and experience the real Alaska.

    Welcome to Alaska!

  • I am one of the few people who have lived in every area of Alaska........ thanks to 7 tours of duty here and 10 years as an Advanced EMT doing bush and mountain rescue.

Alaska is as wide as Boston to LA and tall from Key West Florida to Chicago. It has five very distinct weather climates - what you need for living in SouthEast Alaska will not work in the Interior or North Slope. You very much need to tell us what part of Alaska you are moving to, and, I can tell you what to prepare for.

You can email me any questions.

  • northface, colombia, basically anything that can take on cold, wind, and wettness. one of those coats that has the three options to it would be great. it all really depends on how much you are gonna be outside. if you are gonna be workin outside, then be smart and prepare for it all. if its just to get you to the car and back, then something like a nice down filled coat would be fine...unless its raining.

  • North Face or Sorel

  • north faces are high quality and popular but really expensive. try an online shopping site to get better deals.
  • What is the rainiest city within Portland, Oregon?|195340

I love the rain and cloudy weather, I really can_t stand the sun. I_m planning on moving to Oregon what_s the rainiest city in Portland or otherwise?

  • Someone else asked this VERY question!!!

  • Portland is a city and it_s quite cloudy and rainy. Seattle is another option. Check weather.com for monthly averages.

  • Portland
  • When will Southwest Airlines start flying somewhere within a reasonable distance of Atlanta?|196114

Southwest Airlines has a huge gap in its coverage surrounding Atlanta, GA. And, the cost to fly other airlines from the Northeast to Atlanta is ridiculously expensive. Any thoughts on how to get Southwest to start service to Atlanta or (preferably) a nearby airport?

  • unfortunately, you can_t _get southwest to start service_ but I_m sure they_re already trying to get more access to ATL since its a huge market.
first off, there has to be gates available, and in atlanta, there certainly aren_t any. AirTran and Delta have been in a bitter fight over some free gates in ATL recently. I would suggest try flying AirTran- sometimes there are fares from $29-$114 if they_re running a sale. And they fly to lots of place in the northeast.

  • Well southwest airlines is supposed to be talking to the Atlanta folks so they can get flights into there. They will hopefully open up by the end of 2009 and if not then in the year 2010.

  • Southwest has been flying out of Birmingham for several years. Depending on which part of Atlanta you live in, it can be a quick drive over to Birmingham. Otherwise, you may ask yourself, which is more valuable, my time (and gasoline expense) to drive to and from or the few dollars I may save by flying Southwest versus other airlines out of Hartsfield.
As far as when/if they will operate service from Atlanta, who knows?

  • Not cost effective for them. Gate fees are too much. I find prices from the northeast to Atlanta to be on the low side.

  • If you drive to Birmingham, they fly out of there.

  • I hear ya. They offer lots of great rates but they dont fly outta Memphis either. then closest airport to us is Nashville. Southwest flies outta there but I am not sure how far of a drive that is from you. Only about 2 1/2 to 3 hour for us

  • I think Birmingham is the the only location near Atlanta
most airlines can not compete with the volume of Delta out of the Atlanta

Jet Blue only made it 6 month in Atlanta
