Where in Philadelphia can I find an inexpensive wedding venue?|136529

I have a budget of $5,000 for my wedding and need to find a venue that provides, the food, alcohol and the space at around $2500. If there is nothing that cheap, where can I rent just the location and use an outside caterer?

  • I haven_t checked prices recently, but that_s going to be tough depending on the number of people. For 50 people it shouldn_t be much of a problem, but anything more than that at a minimum alcohol is probably not going to be included.

I called a friend I know in Philly who works for a catering business. For a buffet on-site for a wedding, you are looking at $77 per person for the first 100, including table rental, etc, if you want a basic alcohol package, $56 without. That doesn_t include the space rental, that_s just on-site setup, serving and cleanup. Clearly out of your price range.

It also depends on what kind of food you want. This was a higher end buffet, 4 entrees, 5 veggies, salad, etc, you can cut that down a bit to save some money.

Also, getting out of Center City will save you some money. Look for churches, community centers, even volunteer firehouses will hall space.

  • have you tried going on www.theknot.com ? That is a great website geared excusively for brides to be and you can search on your local area.

I am off for winter break and I want to do fun things during it. However, I don_t feel like ice skating or seeing a movie. I also hate museums. What can I do with my college friends or 10 yr old brother in chicago and the western suburbs?

  • Go to Streets of woodfied in Schaumburg, _ take your brother to Legos store _ take him to the Game Work. Afterward take him to Chipotle for lunch. There is a big theatre there too. Just north of it you can take a free shuttle bus it takes you to Woodfield mall. It is a biggest retail mall. In Chicago, u must go to Michigan Ave. There, u can take ur brother to Hershy chocolate store _ Ghirardelli chocolate shop. Go to down town Naperville, it has the feel of the city in a suburb. You also have downtown Evanston _ downtown Arlington Heights, they have the feel of downtown Chicago. Go to broadway _ Diversey to hang out . Oh gosh, there are so many places to go to. Have a fabulous stay in Chicago. Happy turkey day too!

  • Think Blues. Kingston Mines ort Rosa_s are the local choices.

    Second City for comedy.
