How to find roomates around my age in Seattle, WA?|193851

I am 18 years old and am taking a year off before going to college. I have found a very good internship in Seattle, WA and am planning on doing it. My only concern is that I would have to get an apartment, and I really do not want to be by myself. I just don_t want to be by myself in a big city with no one to hang out with, go out with etc. What are my options?

  • Craigslist or the Seattle Times classified section is the first place I_d look.

  • no craigslist is cool just make sure you have the guy checked out first but i buy stuff off craigslist all the time and there almost always honest people and its the same as putting a add in the newspaper wich is the only other way so just go with craigslist

  • Craigslist is fine, You can also just read the local paper

  • advertise on craiglist im sure theres others in your position

  • craigstlist for sure!!!
  • Where can i take high school kids on a trip to new york city?|182460

We are from Boston and i don_t know the city that well. Taking between 10 and 15 kids and it has to be an educaional trip or something like that within walking distance of ground zero also? Please help?

  • Wall Street, The Brooklyn Bridge, The Graves of Alexander Hamilton and Robert Fulton, St Paul_s Chapel (where President Washington went to church), to name just a few spots within walking distance.
Don_t miss walking along the Hudson River and the Winter Garden at the World Financial Center.

  • you can get a tour of the NY stock exchange thats pretty interesting depending on the age of the kids and NBC a local news station does tours for high school groups too! Have a great time

  • Take them to Ground Zero and show them World Trade Center 7(it_s open) then cross the Brklyn bridge. Battery Park and show them the Statue and ellis Is. show them the cilton Cir. I thnk they let people in the woolworth building. Should be safe now because there are like police on every corner in Dwntown

  • I recommend Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty. I_m sure many of your students had relatives that came through Ellis Island.

There are a number of great museums in lower Manhattan. For a list, go to the New York City Convention Center_s web site:

If you click on the link for _Planning Your Trip_ and then click on _Family Travel,_ you_ll be able to get ideas for visiting with kids or teens.

Let me add that few people mention that the United Nations is in Manhattan. I remember visiting it with my school as well as with my parents and I was do impressed that I can remember it to this day.

  • don_t forget the South Street Seaport, it_s a little bit of a walk from Ground Zero but the pay off is the Brooklyn Bride in its massive full glory. The S.S.Seapot also has a museum and such. Try to look up some info from them and see if you can arrange something theire. Historical and authentic.

  • depends on the class i guess. for science id obviously go to the natural history museum, art id go to the met or moma, for history id go way downtown for a walking tour,

  • see the staute of washington where he took his oath of office on broad and wall st across from the exchange ,trinity church, battery park at the tip of manhattan ,francines tavern where washington bid farewell to his officers, south st seaport and veiw the river aand its sights you can walk over to city hall up to chinatown and little italy ,then into grenwich village
  • What kind of legitimate info can you give me on living in Buffalo, Rochester, and/or Syracuse?|182941

I_m thinking about moving to upstate New York _ these are my top choices. I know they_re all cold _ snowy, which is one of the reasons I may move there, but what else can you tell me--more detailed climate info, cost of living, job availability, good/bad parts of town to live in, etc. Anything you can offer would be great. Thanks!

  • Personally I_m a fan of Upstate NY. I enjoy having 4 seasons - but it_s not for everyone. If you don_t like the snow then Jan / Feb will really get to you. Rochester out of the 3 gets the least amount of snow.

    Nice things about
Buffalo : Buffalo Bills / Buffalo Sabres / Huge Party Strip / Close to Canada and Niagara Falls

Rochester: Very nice bike trail / cross country ski trails / Tons of Festival in the spring / summer / fall

Syracuse : Syracuse Orangemen - SU hoops

Other nice things about this region - Housing is Cheap compared to the country . Close to Niagara Falls / Finger Lakes Region (wine country), and Adirondacks. There are lots of lakes / swimming holes, camping, parks, cute small towns, Erie Canal. Downfall is the job market isn_t the best and the population is stagnate. Don_t let people badmouth upstate... with our winters it_s not for everyone... but then again 98 degree weather isn_t for me.

  • Well, Buffalo and Syracuse are on some kind of snow beltway because you can always count on them to be the worst places to travel through. Lately there has been an increase in the crime rate in Syracuse. Personally out of the three, I like Buffalo the best. Now, not only are our winters cold and snowy (usually) our summers can get hot and sticky. Are you looking for just _entry level_ positions? I_m sure they are _a dime a dozen_ in any of the locations.Try the I love NY.com tourism website and I think it will ask you specific towns/cities and have all their census stats.
