What are some nice, fairly affordable hotels within walking distance of South Station in Boston?|131172

My buddy and I are going to be in Boston for just one night next month and need to stay pretty close to South Station. We_d like it to be someplace fairly nice, but not too outrageously expensive. Maybe around $200.00, max. Any suggestions?

  • Motel 6 is very affordable.

  • Try Westin Water front. I booked them through priceline.com. I put a bid for $150 and they accepted. I got a room with two queen beds. Pretty cool. And it is walking distance from the South Station and it_s a 4 star hotel. It_s new so you can get lucky.

  • ho-tel mo-tel,,holiday inn.:)

  • No Holiday Inn or Motel 6 near South Station.

The hotels that do exist are all luxury. Try Priceline.com, otherwise you_ll have to stay someplace else. But Boston_s public transit is very good so you probably do not need to be so close to South Station in the first place.

Try the Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express in East Cambridge near Lechmere.
  • Where can I find the cheapest airfare on the web? Are there any tips to getting cheap airfare?|130691

I haven_t seen my sister in 2 years and it has been longer since I have seen my nieces. I really want to fly out there, but the tickets are so expensive compared to when I checked last week. I am looking to fly out of Providence, Rhode Island into Valdosta, Georgia either the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th weekend in October arriving Friday and leaving Sunday. Also, I am bringing my 8 year old son with me. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Please don_t just give me a website, share your experiences with me. Thanks

  • It all depends on what you want.
Leaving on a Friday is probably the worst you could do because it is one of the most popular days. If you tried leaving on a Wednesday or Thursday, you may have better luck finding a cheaper rate.
Also, you will find a cheaper rate the more stops you have, if you are willing to leave at the wee hours of the morning, or if you are willing to fly red eye ((Fly over night)).

these are all very good websites:

    www.expedia.com
    www.cheaptickets.com

My reccomendation as far as airlines... try to avoid Northwestern. They are very rude and everytime I have flown with them something goes wrong, either delays or lost luggage, something! United is probably your best bet. They are respectful and polite and take care of everything properly.

  • you have to shop around _ compare. try the nearest airports _ the next closest to your origin/destination. wkends are more expensive so if you can leave thurs you may lower the price. the farther ahead you book _ pay the cheaper the ticket usually. example: if you book today for 5th of oct the ticket may cost more than if you book for 10th of oct....
