What should we do in Atlanta for our anniversary?|196240

I originally just wanted to spend a night or two in Atlanta for my Christmas gift from my boyfriend.
Our 2 year anniversary is coming up at the end of December and my birthday is a few days into the new year. We have decided to do Christmas/Anniversary/Birthday all at once in Atlanta.

I have planned for either of these two dates:
- December 30 - January 1 (What goes on in Atlanta for New Years??)
- January 2 - January 4

I just wanted to know what kind of things we should plan to do and where good places are to eat.

  • You can go have dinner at the top of the W hotel downtown. It_s really nice. If you like movies, you can go to the Buck Head Back Lot. It_s like a restaurant inside a theater.

  • Well there are numerous things you can do in Atlanta. Dinner possibilities are endless but I would recommend The Sun Dial, Chops, Six Feet Under, Dante_s down the Hatch, and MF Sushi. Also there is the CNN Center tour and Centennial Park is beautiful this time of year with all the Christmas lights up. If he is a sports fan i would definitely recommend a hawks or thrashers game because both are doing very well this year. Also on New Years go to the Peach Drop! Its a great atmosphere with tons of people! Hope this helped some! Enjoy your stay in my fine city!

  • I would suggest SunDial Restaurant, it should offer a beautiful view of the city. You could probably go to the Peach drop on New Years.
  • What are some good ideas for a 50th birthday at Disneyland?|132921

My mom_s birthday is in August and we have decided to go celebrate at Disneyland but I wanted to do something special for her. I have no idea what to plan or what to do and am wondering what you guys think. any special ideas?

  • Good advice above.

The best places to celebrate inside the parks is at the Blue Bayou or the Celebration Roundup at the Big Thunder Ranch. These are on the pricey side, but they_re very good.

Other fun places at the resort include Rainforest Cafe, Storyteller Cafe inside the Grand Californian Hotel, and Goofy_s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel, which has character meals.

    Have fun!

Yes, you can still get a Happy Birthday pin.

  • Well, for starters, she will get in for free on her actual Birthday, which is pretty cool. They also give her a big pin that_s got Happy Birthday on it, and they also write her name on it, too. Staff are told to keep an eye out for people who are celebrating their birthday, and it_s such a hoot to be in line for a ride, or walking around and for people to tell you _Happy Birthday, Jane_. I went for my b_day in May, and it was a really great day.

The other good thing is ... if you_re a local CA resident, she will be able to get a 2_fer FOR FREE. The downside is that if she gets the 2fer, she can only go into one park on her bday, either the Magic Kingdom or CA Adventure, and the second part of the 2fer has to be used within 45 days at the other park. It_s still pretty cool to get into both parks for free, and all just because you were born.

If you want to get up early, there are character breakfasts at a couple of the restaurants, where you all could have breakfast with Mickey, Snow White and whoever else shows up, which is pretty cool. You could have dinner at one of the real restaurants and have the waiter bring her some cake and have eveyone sing.

I_m telling you - just having that big pin on with Happy Birthday on it and having everyone tell me happy bday all day long ... I had the best time that day !!

  • ok obviously the first person has trouble reading

so if your mom doesn_t go on her b-day, she won_t be able to get in free, and even if she was going on her b-day you need to remember that she has to register herself on their website

now, yes Blue Bayou is the best, but call ahead for reservations as its always packed, especially on the weekends
  • What is the best way for me to get from Weed California to Antioch California?|196345

I_m going to an event later in July and I need to get from Weed California to Antioch california. I_m 21 but I don_t drive. I saw that the greyhound bus would only take me to vallejo and I don_t know how to get the rest of the way to Antioch. Any ideas?

  • It appears that your best option will be via Amtrak. They offer a combined bus/train rate of $68.50 one way.

    Go to www.amtrak.com

The tricky part is doing your search. When I searched from Weed to Antioch it wouldn_t do it, but if you do a multi-city search going from Weed to Martinez, CA and then from Martinez, CA to Antioch, it will do it. Your connections are Weed - Sacramento - Martinez - Antioch. You ride the bus between Weed and Sacramento, and then get a train the rest of the way. It should take you 8 hours and 10 minutes of total travel time (including about a 1 hr layover in Martinez).

  • Yes, take amtrak. I do this alot to visit my best friend, its very clean and pretty easy to take. You take a bus all the way to Martinez and the lay over is more like 30 mins max. Then you hop on a train for about 15 mins which takes you straight to downtown Antioch. Visit amtrak.com

  • a train? taxi? plane?have a friend pick you up? teleport?
how many other options do you need?
  • What are some good prom locations in the Los Angeles/Orange County area?|187088

Im in the sophomore council of my school and we plan the prom of the class ahead of us. Our school has a contract with a prom planning company but their help has been terrible. I need help finding good prom location in the Los Angeles/Orange County area ASAP. Please no hotels.
*It doesn_t have to be a low budget venue.

  • Try some local Country Clubs and Yacht Clubs. (Wilshire Country Club, La Canada Country Club, etc). They have very nice facilities.

Last year, someone wrote a question about Santa Anita in Arcadia; I checked them out, and they are very good, too.

Sinc you mentioned OC, I HAVE to mention the Anaheim Convention Center, and the Downtown Disney Resort (Not just the hotel there, but many of the restaurants there have large private banquet areas, like Naples and Ralph Brennan_s Jazz Kitchen.

    Good luck!

  • THe queen mary is overrated. i mean,...its nice but i have something about low ceilings when the place is suppose to be grand. my senior class had our prom at the Long Beach Aquarium, and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! theres a life size blue whale above the dance floor with 3 to 5 story aquariums for walls. seriosly, try to get that venue. you will be praised

  • The Queen Mary is always cool and hosts events like this all the time. There are several Yacht clubs in the area that will support proms as well and this is kind of cool because a nautical theme always works. Depending on your class size you could also charter a large boat. many are available and this keeps everyone together and helps with saftey etc.
    Hope that helps a little.
  • What is the best area of Atlanta to live in?|109825

Ive heard bad stories about Marta. I generally will make about $30,000 to $40,000 and based on my income I could afford $500 rent.

    What are your suggestions?

  • marietta, GA all the way. everyone that lives here are young couples with toddlers or parents in their mid 50s raising their teenagers. there are no marta stations here but the gas prices are low. it_s a nice, safe, place to live and jog and very close to scenic historic places and small shops. georgia traditions are upheld with an exciting twist because of the youngsters that live here. you can glimpse people you know sometimes which makes it comfortable and homey. the schools are excellent as well. we are located in east cobb, which is the best school district in georgia. walton, which is ranked in the top 50 or maybe even top 10 public schools in the nation is here. lassiter high school, home of the lassiter high school marching trojan band, which won 2 grand national championships and over 90 regionals practices every day and can be heard right outside everyone_s houses. they still hold the record for their breathtaking 2002 performance at Nationals. no one has EVER gotten that high. the band has over 300 members and it is still growing. people move to marietta for the band program. sprayberry, kell are also here. all stores hospitals schools theaters libraries etc are clean and orderly and only a few miles away from any neighborhood.

  • Suwanee and Buford are both nice. Hall Country hasn_t been so affected by the urban sprawl. Hamilton Mill is really nice for families. Marrietta has a lot to do.
