Do you know of a child friendly US vacation spot for a couple celebrating a 10th wedding anniversary?|149468

My husband and I would like to plan a trip for our 10th anniversary, but will probably need to take our daughter if my sis is unable to keep her for the week. Outside of a cruise, do you know of nice resort or hotel that offers a kids camp or program on the premises. Our daughter is 5.

  • I would certainly consider the Hyatt Regency in Scottsdale. It is such a beautiful romantic place and yet there are couples with children there as well. The reason being their wonderful activities for kids. They have a Camp Hyatt Kachina, kids from 3-5 or 6-12 get supervised games and activities, cowboy storytellers, making Indian beabwork, learning about the desert. The kids love it and you will too, as it leaves you free to enjoy the spa, golf or tennis or shopping or just lounging around one of the myriad pools. I don_t know when your anniversary is, but it_s hard to beat Arizona weather any time of year (it is a little HOT in July or August) but the rates are better then too.

Take a look at The Hyatt Regency and other great resorts in Scottsdale at

  • Go to Santa Cruz Ca.

  • cambria/san simeon california. nice hotels, restararaunts, elephants seals, beaches, hearst castle, antique stores, toy stores, cows, birds, the oceans, a lighthouse...i love it!!!

also...ashland, oregon is BEAUTIFUL! ashland has hotels, lots of ice creams, shakespearean plays in a model of the globe theater, and lots of little shops. trees, birds, nice people.

santa barbara is great too. it has beaches, a zoo...

  • Montecito Sequoia Lodge in California is our favorite place for family vacation.
It is a bit rustic but we always have great fun there. Our kids love it....the activities and counselors are the best!
My husband and I have time to be together to hike, relax, ride horses, and the food is great.

  • Las Vegas has become a better place to take families now. They have been focusing on it for a long time now...look into some places there.

  • Disneyworld/Disneyland in Florida and California
  • How do you get into the hottest clubs in Los Angeles? Does it cost a lot to get in and if so how much?|153854

I am 20 years old and living in Los Angeles and next year I_ll be able to go to 21+ clubs, but I was wondering: how do you get into the hottest clubs in LA? Does it cost a lot to get in? How much does it cost to get in?

  • Los Angeles_ straight hipsters follow a very simple maxim: Just go where all the gay people are.

The best clubs are in their natural habitats any way: Santa Monica, West L.A., West Hollywood, and Hollywood. And there_s some truth to the idea that the homosexuals know what_s _hot_ and what_s _not_.

A quick browse through the L.A. Weekly will basically confirm my point. Most of the places they recommend are mixed venues (with both straight and gay patrons).

Cover charges in L.A. aren_t too bad... usually $10 - $20. Most clubs make their profit when you drink rather than with an admission fee. That_s why they don_t do more 18+ nights (they lose a lot of money).

Dress code is the same as Vegas: Smart Casual. Unless you_re _somebody_ (they always let celebrities in)... you probably won_t get away with sneakers, jeans, shorts, t-shirts, and tanks.

If there_s a guest list, you can pretty much guarantee you_ll get in by being on it. Sometimes, that means shelling out far more money though (for a _club membership_ or _VIP Priority_...or some other soothing label).

  • It helps to be on some kind of guestlist. You can check the club_s websites for this info. If you can arrive early to clubs; there won_t be many people there... but the cover charge will be less, if they even have one. The most i ever paid for cover is $20. Drinks on the other hand can get ridiculous; which shoud be more of a concern instead of cover price. If you have the time and money you_d have a better time in Vegas in my opinion.

  • My suggestion to you is that you never EVER stand in line. It is a waste of time and it makes you look desperate. You can generally get on any list by knowing the promoter. How do you get to know the promoter, you ask? Well, of course, by perusing Myspace. Every promoter who likes to make money has a Myspace page and will eagerly add any hot girl or guy to his/her VIP guest list. Just search the names of clubs you want to go to on Myspace and the profile of the promoter of that club will more than likely show up. Also, you might just ask your friends, your friends friends, older siblings, siblings friends, coworkers, whoever if they know anyone who works at ________ club. Everyone knows someone who is a promoter/bartender/barback/bouncer in LA. Also, remember that the _hot clubs_ are generally those that haven_t been toted in the tabloids yet. Once celebrities check these places out, they get crowded, then the celebrities don_t return and the club goes down...the endless cycle in LA. Sooo, I would suggest trying to get into the places that have just opened to good reviews, places with name DJs and who are noted for good drink prices, not just the ones Paris Hilton frequents. Hope this helps!

  • you pretty much have to dress up if you want to get in. Girls might be easier to get in. If you_re on the list, then it_ll be easier for you to get in. May be if you_re waiting for the first time, just be friendly with the bouncer and slip tip so next time when you go, he_ll remember you and let u in without having stay in line.
    have fun!!
  • What documentation do I need to drive through canada to alaska?|151366

Me and 2 friends of mine will hopefully be driving through canada up to alaska in the next few weeks. Me and one of my friends already have a passport, so we wont have problems, but the other friend does not have hers yet. She is 17 if that makes any difference. Do we only need passports to re-enter the US? Or will she need it just to make it into Canada? Thanks

  • If she is 17 she will need a passport book, a passport card, or an Enhanced Driver_s License/Enhanced State ID issued by Michigan, New York, Vermont, or Washington.
She will also need a letter of consent of her parents who allow her to travel through Canada.

  • Yes - get a passport to minimize your problems. And what the person above me said about getting written permission from the parents is correct - make sure that the written permission you get from the parents is notarized. The customs officials will probably reject the written permission if it is not notarized. Any bank should have someone who can notarize the document - your friends parents need to sign it in front of the notary at the bank for it to be accepted and properly notarized.

I_m a Canadian living in the U.S. and have to get written and notarized authorization from my wife to take my kids into Canada if she is not along. Concerns about child abduction these days (even 17-year-olds) is why they do this. It doesn_t matter if you_re travelling on to Alaska. You_re entering Canada, and you have to follow their rules.

  • Passports are required for everyone 16 and over. See 1st site to read the law and 2nd site for all passport application info. Takes 4 to 6 weeks to get a passport, and you need to plan on the 6 weeks. She can get a passport in 3 weeks if she pays the expediting fee and express mail fees. She will need parental permission.

  • They_re usually very strict about people entering the US. She probably needs a passport...but at least a birth certificate and such.
