How to spend Christmas Eve day in San Francisco?|151534

How should a family of four (2 adults 2 teens) spend Christmas Eve day in San Fran? We were planning on ice skating in Union Square but what else would be festive and memorable?

  • Take the Cable Car to Fisherman_s Wharf and Pier 39. Enjoy SF.

  • I_d say the Nutcracker, but it_s surely too late to get tickets for Christmas Eve.

Umm... I think the Walt Disney Museum is screening Fantasia on a big screen, which should be fun. Though teens may be in that awkward phase where they_re not young enough to appreciate it at first-hand value, and not old enough for the nostalgia/kitsch value. I_m tempted to go to it myself, but it depends on how much I hate people/holidays then (doesn_t look promising so far). _:D_ But meh. Off-Market Theatre is doing a performance of David Sedaris_ Santaland Diaries (in highschool, everyone loved David Sedaris... I_m guessing that hasn_t changed in the past few years), if that_s your thing.

Meh. Doing stuff on Christmas is kind of annoying, imo. If you actually live here (as opposed to visiting), I suggest staying home and baking all day! _3

  • The wharf has everything for all of you. Take a sightseeing cruise in the Bay for an hour or two, stop at one of the street artists to have a caricature drawn of the family for a remembrance.

  • how about stay in and enjoy ones company playing games and watching movies!!

  • yelp, take the cable car and explore pier 39- the kids would love it.
  • What is the best way to get from Broadway to the Mets game using public transportation?|190886

I am visiting NYC and want to get tickets to an Saturday afternoon Broadway show and an evening Met_s game. What_s the best way to get there using public transportation (not a cab)?

  • Go to the Times Square subway station and take the 7 train in the direction of Queens. Take it to Willet_s Point/Mets Stadium.

That_s by far the best way!

  • If Broadway Show is near Times Sq, you could just take Flushing-bound (7) local or _7_ express during PM Rush Hour to Mets-Willets Point, where NY Mets plays at CitiField.

Station is no longer called Willets Point-Shea Stadium. It is now called Mets-Willets Point.
  • What is the closest shore point to Philadelphia?|188503

I want to drive down the shore today and I want to know what the closest shore would be, whether it_s in New Jersey or Delaware. Anyone know?

  • Back in the _old days_ (1970 or so) we used to call it, _The Atlantic City Expressway_. Not sure if it has the same name today, but a person could float the pedal around 79 mph and travel Philadelphia to Atlantic City in almost 1 hour. Others reading this may have better idea, but I believe that_s your best bet.

  • Wildwood NJ, Atlantic City NJ, and Ocean City NJ....

Wildwoods good if you like rides and a really nice boardwalk and a free beach...

Atlantic City is great for shopping and gambling...

And Ocean City is more calm, or Cape May which is kinda boring..

  • New Jersey is much closer than Delaware. Closest ocean beach in Delaware from Philly is two hours.

Distance wise, it_s Long Beach Island. But it_s a 2 lane road and you can_t go very fast.

Timewise from South Philly, it_s Atlantic City. Timewise from the Northeast is Belmar.

  • atlantic city is closest probably, but i_d go to ocean city... much nicer beaches... cape may is the farthest south but its very laid back, close to wildwood for rides and such

  • alantic city and marget and brigitine

  • Atlantic City Nj.

  • atlantic city, plus there_s lots of other stuff to do there besides the beach.
  • When does it start heating up in San Diego?|130818

We want to go to Sea World and San Diego Zoo next year as early as possible. After the winter, what month does it start to warm up? How cold does it get in San Diego?

  • Spring is kind of cool in SD in my opinion. Winter and Spring temps can vary depending on the weather, it will either be somewhat cool and in the 60_s or warm and sunny and in the 70_s and 80_s when there are Santa Ana winds or any slight offshore flow.

Mid-May to Mid-June is probably one of the worst times of year for weather along the coast. We call it _May Gray_ and _June gloom_ b/c the weather pattern at the time of year produces a thick marine layer and it_s overcast a lot. Late June through Novemember are the warmest times of year in SD.

The coldest it gets at night near the coast in SD is usually around 50. The days are usually in the 60_s and 70_s.

  • april-june

  • june is your best bet for a fun filled summer day.
  • Where can I park along the Magnificent Mile in Chicago?|154311

A friend and I are heading to Chicago this week. We are planning on hitting up the Magnificent Mile for some shopping and not much else. Where would be the best place to park? Are there any parking garages anywhere along/near Michigan Ave that would be good to park in? Please help me. It_s been forever since I have been in Chicago and I can_t remember.

  • One option is to park *south* of the Magnificent Mile - around the Art Institute are underground parking garages that are only about $12 - and take the bus or walk back up Michigan. It_s a short walk, and well worth it.

  • If you go one block west of the Mag mile, you_ll find several parking garages. In particular, I know there is one near Nordstrom_s. If you are looking to save some money, you can go about five blocks further west and park in the River North neighborhood. Here they have mostly surface lots so they_re a little cheaper than the garages. There are also parking meters in this area and I_ve had pretty good luck finding open meters on the weekend.

  • Do not park at the Intercontinental Hotel in Chicago. I just spoke to them on the phone their daily parking rate is $ 48, not $ 8-10.

    Here_s the Mag Mile website:

    http://www.themagnificentmile.com/Visito

  • Underneath the Intercontinental Hotel, (about 1/16 a mile away from _The Magnificant Mile_) is a parking garage, it_s only 8-10$ a day, security guard protected and safe within walking distance of your shopping haven. And, this is open to the public with certain amounts of spaces reserved for the Hotel. I stayed there long ago without knowing that I was so close to this famous shopping area and I was in heaven! Crate and Barrel got some money from me that day! Hope this help you out! Have a GREAT vacation in Chicago, I certainly did!
  • Is it embarrassing to pass resumes in hotels and restaurants through walk in?|167019

We all know that it_s hard to find jobs these days but is it acceptable to pass resumes in an establishment through walk in? Isn_t it kinda embarrassing?

  • Since you posted your question in the Las Vegas category I will tell you that here they want you to use their websites to apply for positions. Even if you walk into their human resource offices they will seat you at a computer to fill out the application. They will then tell you that they will call for an interview if you qualify. When you come for the interview is when you will give them your resume. Otherwise by now following the proceedure your resume will end up in the trash.

  • some of the large casinos do not even have personnel offices on site, they are blocks away. try it but it will not be a good tactic. you need to go the conventional route. do not be a maverick . they do not like it that way out here.
go with the flow. routine way of doing business.

  • Nooooo thats what its all about, or you can do it online but if you have a resume in hand you can go to all the shops and pass them to management all in one shot and get yourself in front of them! I say do it!! There is nothing wrong with that..

  • That is an excellent idea, much better then mailing it, this shows initiative. It also gives you a better chance for an interview. And a chance to meet more upper management.

  • WHat do you mean? You mean you are going in and dropping it off? People love that because then they get to see what you look like and how well you present yourself.
  • How much would a Taxi from Anaheim to John Wayne Airport cost?|164530

Websites and stuff would be nice, but an estimate is fine.
And are there other modes of transportation? Besides public transit. :) Thanks.

  • Both those answers are rude and dumb.
Taxis are expensive. Try taking the public transportation, it_s the cheapest way to go.

  • limo, metro, bicycle, but price depends on where u live, because its a running meter, find a taxi website, and give em a call

  • your mother
