What is the closes hotel to the United Center?|129048

Like so close, I could just walk across the street to get to and from.

  • Go to the website _www.stadiumhotelnetwork.com_. This is an organization that lists the hotels located around all major sports arenas.

  • It_s not in a very good neighborhood. Stay downtown (maybe the Hard Rock Hotel?). Better to take the bus (they wait for you after the event, and have extras lined up) or a cab. I_ve walked over to Damen and got a cab right away.

  • There really is nothing close to the UC and itts not really in that good of a neighbourhood your better staying at hotel downtown and taking a taxi

  • 4 blocks away:

  • What is the best way of getting from Dubai to Hawaii?|140627

I want to fly from Dubai to Hawaii with a short stop off on the way in Asia, Australia or New Zealand. So far my searches recommend that I fly via London and LA but I_m not keen. Can anyone suggest a better way of doing it?

  • I have made the reverse flight and London is your best bet. It could take a week or more in the air to do what you are proposing. If you want to go for free, join the navy! That_s why I flew from Pearl to Dubai. Seriously though, don_t join the navy. You may save some money flying from London to O_Hare, then to LA, or straight from Chicago to Honolulu.

  • It is WAY shorter to travel through asia. Its about an 9000 mile trip versus a 15000 mile trip. The best place for a layover would be in Manila, Philippines. Its almost a straight shot across. The flight from Manila to Honolulu would still be 8 hours or so, but what can you do?

  • If you want to do stops in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand then I would fly Dubai to Singapore. Australia and New Zealand both (as well as Taipei, Manila, Seoul, and Tokyo) have direct flights to Hawaii I believe.

  • It_s about the same either west or east.
Flying in to Hawaii from the west, Korea and Tokyo are easiest.
From the the east, (west for you), there are multiple ways to go. I like Chicago - Honolulu, or Minneapolis - Honolulu.

  • What is the exact date that Tucson, Arizona was incorporated?|139267

I searched and searched and all I could come up with was a possible year (1877) of incorporation, but not the date.

  • I Found this at (but no actual date of incorporation):

    http://www.tucsonaz.gov/tucson_history.h

In 1775, Hugo O_Conor establishes the Tucson Presido. This year marks the official birthdate of the City of Tucson.
Tucson becomes part of Mexico when it fights for independence in 1821.
After the Gadsden Purchase in 1854, Tucson falls under the jurisdiction of the United States.
Arizona becomes an official territory in 1863.
Between 1867 and 1877, Tucson holds the title of territorial capitol.

I suggest leaving a question at the city_s home page.

  • Geography
Tucson as seen from spaceTucson is located at 321252N, 110555W (32.214476, -110.918192)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 505.3 km2 (195.1 mi2). 504.2 km2 (194.7 mi2) of it is land and 1.1 km2 (0.4 mi2) of it (0.22%) is water.

The city_s elevation is 2,389 ft (728 m) above sea level. Tucson is situated on an alluvial plain, surrounded by five minor ranges of mountains: the Santa Catalina Mountains and the Tortolita Mountains to the north, the Santa Rita Mountains to the south, the Rincon Mountains to the east, and the Tucson Mountains to the west. The Santa Catalina Mountains feature 9,157-foot-high Mount Lemmon, the southernmost ski destination in the continental U.S., while the Tucson Mountains include 4,687-foot Wasson Peak.

The view of Tucson from Windy Point, at elevation 6,580 feet on Mt. Lemmon. The city is located on the Santa Cruz River, a dry river bed much of the year that floods during significant seasonal rains. (The Santa Cruz becomes a subterranean stream part of the year although it may appear dry.)

Tucson is located along I-10, which runs through Phoenix toward Santa Monica, California in the northwest, and through El Paso, Texas toward Jacksonville, Florida in the east. I-19, runs south from Tucson toward Nogales and the U.S.-Mexico border.

    [edit] Environmental impact
In 2006 the City of Tucson was ranked overall number 20 of 50 U.S. cities by the organization SustainLane on quality of life and economic factors that affect personal sustainability. The complete study is available online at www.sustainlane.com [1].

Tucson can point with pride to numerous public/private projects which have made the Tucson metro area a national leader in conservation/sustainable living evolution.

While Tucson is a _natural_ for development into a solar community, there is a long way to go. Perhaps the biggest sustainability problem is potable water supply: although agriculture in Arizona uses far more water than the city itself, and Tucsonans find lawns and swimming pools less acceptable than their neighbours in Phoenix, massive drawing down of groundwater resources over the last 100 years has occurred, visible as subsidence in some residential areas.

Tucson_s new reliance on the CAP canal, passing more than 300 miles across the desert from the Colorado River, cast doubt over _sustainability_ claims even at current population levels. This points to the need for further efforts at re-use and recycling, prompted by Pima Country and the city in numerous outreach campaigns, and halt to urban growth into the fragile ecosysems of the surrounding Sonoran Desert.

    [edit] Water
While the Santa Cruz river once flowed nearly year-round through Tucson less than 100 years ago, the city_s water has been slowly disappearing since then, causing Tucson to seek alternative sources.

Until 1887, Tucson residents purchased water for a penny a gallon from vendors who transported it in bags draped over burros_ backs. After that, water was sold by the bucket or barrel and delivered door-to-door in wagons.

In 1881 water was pumped from a well on the banks of the Santa Cruz River and flowed by gravity through pipes into the distribution system.

Tucson currently draws water from three main sources: Central Arizona Project (CAP) water, effluent (treated wastewater), and groundwater. In 1992, Tucson Water delivered CAP water to some customers that was referred to as being unacceptable. This problem led Tucson to modify its water resources plan to allow more study of the best use of CAP water. While currently dependent on groundwater, Tucson is making use of CAP water by selling it to local farmers, and is developing several recharge projects to augment groundwater supply.[2]

    [edit] Cityscape
Similar to many cities in the Western U.S., Tucson was developed on a grid plan, with the city center at Stone Avenue and Broadway Boulevard. While this intersection was initially near the geographic center of Tucson, due to urban development the intersection is presently located in the west-central part of town. As an expansive city covering substantial area, Tucson features many distinct neighborhoods.

    [edit] Earliest neighborhoods
Tucson_s early neighborhoods (some of which are covered by the Tucson Convention Center) include Barrio Libre; Barrio Anita, named for an early settler; Barrio Tiburn (in the present Fourth Avenue arts district), designated in territorial times as a _(red light) district_; El Jardn, named for an early recreational site, Levin_s Gardens; and El Ollo, named for a lake that was part of the gardens. Up until the building of the Tucson Convention Center (or TCC), El Ollo referred to this part of the city, which was inhabited mainly by Mexican-American citizens and immigrants from Mexico. Other historical neighborhoods include Armory Park, south of downtown, the Sam Hughes neighborhood (named after an instigator-hero of the Camp Grant Massacre), located east of the University of Arizona, and Menlo Park, situated adjacent to Sentinel Peak.

    [edit] Downtown
Downtown Tucson is undergoing a revitalization effort by city planners and the business community. The primary project is Rio Nuevo, a large retail and community center. Downtown is generally classified as north of 12th Street, east of I-10, and southwest of Toole Avenue and the Southern Pacific Railroad. Downtown is divided into the Presidio District, Convention District, and the Congress Street Arts _ Entertainment District.

UniSource Energy Tower (center) as seen from midtown looking westTucson_s tallest building, the 23-story UniSource Energy Tower (also called the Bank Building) is situated downtown and was completed in 1986. The proposed Century Tower for downtown would surpass the Bank Building at 27 stories. Other high-rise buildings downtown include Bank of America Plaza, and the Pioneer (completed in 1914).

Attractions downtown include the historic Hotel Congress designed in 1919, the Art Deco Fox Tucson Theatre designed in 1929, the Rialto Theatre opened in 1920, and St. Augustine Cathedral completed in 1896. Included on the National Register of Historic Places is the old Pima County Courthouse, completed in 1927 [3].

    [edit] Central or Midtown
As one of the oldest parts of town, Central Tucson is anchored by the intersection of Campbell Avenue and Grant Road. The University of Arizona, chartered in 1885, is located in midtown and includes Arizona Stadium and McKale Center. Historic Tucson High School (designed in 1924), and the Arizona Inn (built in 1930) are also located in Central Tucson.

Tucson_s largest park, Reid Park is located in midtown and includes a zoo and Hi Corbett Field. Local retail in Central Tucson is concentrated along Fourth Avenue and also Main Gate Square on University Boulevard near the UA campus. The El Con Mall is also located in midtown.

    [edit] South Side
South Tucson is administered largely by the city that shares its name. The South Side of Tucson is generally defined as the area north of Los Reales Road, east of I-19 and southwest of Aviation Parkway. While the South Side has lower real estate values than most other Tucson neighborhoods, it supports a vibrant culture influenced by Mexico. The Tucson International Airport and Tucson Electric Park are also located on the South Side.

    [edit] West Side
West Tucson is a combination of urban and suburban development. Generally defined as the area west of I-10, West Tucson encompasses the banks of the Santa Cruz River and the foothills of the Tucson Mountains. Attractions in West Tucson include Saguaro National Park West, Sentinel Peak, the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios, and the Marriott Starr Pass Resort _ Spa.

    [edit] North Side
North Tucson includes the urban neighborhoods of Amphitheater and Flowing Wells. Usually considered the area north of Fort Lowell Road, North Tucson includes some of Tucson_s primary commercial zones (Tucson Mall and the Oracle Road Corridor). Many of the city_s most upscale boutiques, restaurants, and art galleries are also located on the North Side including St. Philip_s Plaza. The Plaza is directly adjacent to the historic St. Philip_s in the Hills Episcopal Church (built in 1936).

Also on the North Side is the suburban community of Catalina Foothills, located in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains just north of the city limits. This community includes among the area_s most expensive homes, commonly multi-million dollar estates. The Foothills area is generally defined as north of River Road, east of First Avenue, and west of Sabino Creek. Some of the Tucson area_s major resorts are located in the Catalina Foothills, including the Westin La Paloma Resort, Loews Ventana Canyon Resort and Canyon Ranch Spa. La Encantada, an upscale outdoor shopping mall is also in the Foothills.

    [edit] East Side
East Tucson is relatively new compared to other parts of the city, developed between the 1950s and the 1970s. East Tucson is generally classified as the area of the city east of Swan Road, with above average real estate values relative to the rest of the city. The area includes urban and suburban development near the Rincon Mountains. East Tucson includes Saguaro National Park East. Tucson_s Restaurant Row is also located on the East Side, along with a significant corporate and financial presence. Tucson_s largest office building is 5151 East Broadway in East Tucson, completed in 1975. Park Place is also located on the East Side.

Situated between the Santa Catalina Mountains and the Rincon Mountains near Redington Pass northeast of the city limits is the community of Tanque Verde. The Arizona National Golf Club, Forty-Niners Country Club, and the historic Tanque Verde Guest Ranch are also in Northeast Tucson.

    [edit] Southeast Side
Southeast Tucson continues to experience rapid residential development. The area includes the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. The area is classified as south of Golf Links Road. The suburban community of Vail is also located on the Southeast Side.

    [edit] Northwest Side
Much of the Northwest Side is single-family residential areas, as seen from the northeastern foothills of the Tucson Mountains. The expansive area northwest of the city limits is known as the Northwest Side. The Northwest Side includes significant economic diversity ranging from the rural communities of Catalina and parts of the town of Marana, to the affluent town of Oro Valley in the western foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains, and residential areas in the northeastern foothills of the Tucson Mountains. The community of Casas Adobes is also on the Northwest Side, with the distinction of being Tucson_s first suburb, established in the late 1940s. Casas Adobes is centered around the historic Casas Adobes Plaza (built in 1948). The Foothills Mall is also located on the Northwest Side.

Many of the Tucson area_s golf courses and resorts are located in this area, including the Hilton El Conquistador Golf _ Tennis Resort in Oro Valley, the Omni Tucson National Resort _ Spa, and Westward Look Resort. Catalina State Park and Tortolita Mountain Park are also on the Northwest Side.

What are famous and good food spots to visit in sanfrancisco?|137176

can you help me find good placeses to visit in san francisco?
and good resturant? what is sanfrancisco well known for and especially in foods? what resturant? any sites, placese to visit?

  • San Francisco is a great food town. They are famous for sourdough bread. As an old port city it is known for its seafood especially crab and has a famous Fisherman_s Wharf. Gharadelli chocolates and the bar that claims to have invented the Irish Coffee are nearby. The whole Fisherman_s wharf area is, as you might imagine. a major tourist area. If you drink beer try to visit Anchor Steam brewery, a historic and great brewery. Beyond that the city is a great city for restaurants. You_ll definitely want to try the Chinese and visit the famous Chinatown but you will also find cuisines from all around the world and some of the world_s best chefs. Based on your tastes ask when you are here and you_ll get a lot of good suggestions.

Enjoy the city, it is one of the great cities in the world.
  • Where would be the best place to live in the San Diego area?|107640

I am single and planning to move in just a few years. I would like to live outside of the busy cities- I love quiet and slower living.

  • -East Chula Vista (Rencho Del Rey, Eastlake or Rolling Hills Ranch) is laid back. The area is reletively new. Lots of homes were built between 1999 and 2005. They are still building. There are parks, trails, shopping, resturants, and medical centers. Reminds me of Small Town, USA.
-Bonita is quiet and laid back. It_s tucked into a pocket between Spring Valley, National City, and East Chula Vista. Has a lot of country views with ranches. We used to drive through so our daughter could see the horses. Nice golf course there. It is expensive as well.
-The Tierra Santa is laid back and quiet. It_s kind of secluded but not far from freeway access. Not many people have to come into Tierra Santa unless they live or work there. Not a lot of shopping. Two grocery stores, a few shops, Blockbuster, a few resturants, a post office. If you want major shopping you have to cross the freeway.
-Ramona is nice and quiet. A small town with mountainous landscape. It_s a far from downtown San Diego.
-Poway is also reminesent of a small town. It_s secluded but has shopping and is one of San Diego_s best school districts. I know you_re single, but I thought I_d throw that out there anyway.
-Coronado is an island and it_s very laid back like a small town too. It is a tourist attraction and there are military bases there so the traffic during rush hour can be horrible.
-Point Loma (there area which is after Rosecrans and Nimitz Blvd intersect) is very quiet and close to the beach. Shopping is very close but once Rosecrans turns back into four, then six lanes, it_s hectic sometimes because the Sports Arena is in that area.

  • Mmmmmmmmmm, Coronado is just the best place in the world if you ask me. Better start saving fast, it is extremely expensive! But if you could get a small apartment over a shop in town, well now, that would be incredible!

  • San Diego is a big city.

If you move to east county you are outside of the busy city, but.. you are then pretty much in the desert. East County is _quiet and slow_.

The beach communities can be quite but Very expensive.
  • What are some good hotels in the Boston area?|105549

I am going on a trip to Boston with my boyfriend, and we are trying to find the best place to stay at, yet something that is affordable. Any recommendations?

  • Hotel prices are pretty steep in Boston, but there are frequently deals. Sometimes they are advertised at the Hotel_s web site. Or, check Hotels.com.

That being said, here are some of the top hotels:
There are in The Back Bay:
Copley Fairmont at Dartmouth _ St. James

The Weston at Copley Place at Dartmouth _ Huntington

The Four Seasons--across from The Public Garden, on Boylston Street

The Ritz-Carlton-- across from The Public Gardenat the corner of Newbury and Charles

The Lennox Hotel--Boylston Street, near Copley Square.

I live in the Back Bay, so can vouch for all of those hotels. Copley Square is a great location!

There are other hotels---Boston Harbor Hotel and The Marriott---both at Rowe_s Wharf on the water.

    Hope this helps! Bon Voyage!

  • ritz carlton

  • Welcome to Boston, MA

It depends on how much you can afford? Got price range? Search on the net for more options. However, hotels in Boston are expensive. So, good luck and have fun.
  • Where in western Michigan is a good place to camp?|128562

I am in the Kalamazoo area and am looking for somewhere to camp in a tent that_s under a mile away. I don_t like campgrounds where the people next to you are really close. Does anyone know of anywhere?

  • Firefly,

Sounds like you are looking to camp in your or a friends back yard. Part of camping is getting to know other people. I can understand you don_t want the next campers right on top of you, that will be difficult in lower Michigan unless you find a mom and pop campground.

Try these websites for area camping. I wasn_t able to find anything within a mile.

What is the weather like in the Middle to late part of November in Oahu?|193679

Planning to vacation for a week in November and want it to be enjoyable.

  • I love Oahu!

The temperature in Oahu stays approximately the same throughout the year, averaging seventy to eighty five degrees at any given time. However, wind and rain vary with the seasons, so visitors should be aware of standard weather patterns when planning their trips. It should be noted that the geographic design of Oahu makes it such that weather varies greatly in different parts of the city. As a result, visitors experiencing poor weather conditions in one area of Oahu should spend the day in a different area to avoid the problems. Southwest Oahu is usually warmer and drier than Northeast Oahu.

In general, the summer months in Oahu are considered to be the least rainy and the winter months are considered to be the rainiest. The two biggest weather problems tourists should be aware of are tsunamis and hurricanes. Tsunamis are relatively rare and cant be predicted so visitors cant plan around them. Hurricanes are generally likely to happen between June and November, although they are also relatively rare.

In terms of having to deal with other tourists, the busy season is from December through March, with the last two weeks of December being the prime time during which many people travel to Oahu. Rates are higher during this busy season and trips must be planned far in advance. In contrast, late spring and early fall are the times of the year during which fewer tourists tend to be in the area, decreasing rates in the area. Attractions remain open and fall visitors can experience the Aloha Festivals popular in the area.

  • Typically highs in the mid 70_s, lows in the mid 60_s--with lots of humidity and tradewinds. In Hawaii, everyone usually wears t-shirts, shorts, and slippers (flip-flops) year-round.

    Check weather.com for Nov. averages.

    Have fun!!
  • What type of car is reliable to get to canada from california carrying 4 passengers for a week and a half?|191588

And where can i find a car rental place in southern california that would allow me to rent one to drive to canada?

  • There is nothing really special about that trip, so your question comes down to _what type of car is reliable_.

In general, just about any fairly new car will be reliable over the short run. For quite some time, Japanese cars such as Toyota and Honda have had superiour reliability records, but the American car makers have made great strides. If you have any car that_s less than two years old, you should be fine, and even one that_s got a couple more years than that should be ok, too.

In the end, it comes down to the individual vehicle, and if it_s a private car, a good mechanical checkover should prevent any major problems. With a rental car, if you stick to main routes, they can reach you easily with a replacement in the unlikely event that you do suffer a breakdown. Most rental cars are new or near-new.

It could be a problem to cross the border on a ONE WAY rental (where you_re not returning to the US), but other than that, there should not be any big problem.

I would take a rough guess in the range of $200-300/week for a car that will hold 4 people comfortable.

  • my girlfriend just completed the same trip 2 weeks ago from la to vancouver in a 2005 nissan altima...no problems at all with her car so I can safely recommend a nissan.

  • Any of the major car rental companys. Hertz, Avis, Enterprise.

I really want to move there but they still thinking and i really need some thing to make them say _ok we are moving to New York_. Please Help Me.

  • Why do YOU want to move there? Tell them your reasons.

  • If they wanted to be in New York, they_d be here. I doubt anything you could say would make them want to move there just because you have a whim to do so. Moving to another state is a big deal especially for a family and if your parents own a home, they probably would not be able to buy one here for what they can get for theirs. Despite the housing slump, homes are still pricey here compared to other states. The cost of living is higher here, they_d have to find jobs in a lousy job market, etc.

Wait until you_re 18 and move yourself.

  • Tell them that there are a lot of opportunities in NYC for you. You have an amazing chance of having a really good profession an making a lot of money.

  • In NM, take the I-40 business routes, esp. in Albuquerque (Central Ave.) and Gallup. There_s also a drivable stretch between Laguna and Grants that allows you to see a little more small town.

  • Most of Route 66 is gone. The best preserved area of the road is in Oklahoma. There is also some areas in Arizona. In Oklahoma there is a good stretch between Claremore and Tulsa. As you enter a state, ask the Visitors Bureau to give you a Route 66 map.

I_m in san diego for a few weeks and wanted to go to the beach but i want to go somewhere where there_s not a lot of people. any suggestions? anywhere in or close to san diego would be great. Thanks!

  • With the weather being cool and rain on the way I doubt if you would find a crowded beach to begin with. Maybe the parking spaces with views of the water fill up, but that_s just people eating their lunch. They_re not soaking up gray-rays on the sand.

If it gets about 10-15 degrees warmer there might be an increase on the sand in PB, MB or OB. If you consider a few hundred to be a crowd then go just north of La Jolla Shores and Scripps Pier.

  • The beaches are generally not too crowded this time of year. It really depends what you are looking for in a beach. Torrey Pines is nice and you could hike around the Reserve which is right next to the beach. This beach is usually one of the less crowded...especially if you venture around the bend to the area not visable from the road.

For a complete guide to the beaches of San Diego (and directions) visit

  • Carlsbad Beach is hardly ever too crowded.

I will be staying on the strip @ the Flamingo and want to rent a car for a day. I would prefer not to rent from the airport and was told that some hotels have car rental keyosks.
What would be the closest one to the Flamingo?

  • budget is not there any more, but Hertz is. Just go to the concierge desk.

  • Hi Janet,
I believe you will find Budget has a rental location at the Flamingo. Doing a little research I found the site listed below. Unless you are going out of town I suggest you use the public transportation while on the strip ( Deuce bus, Monorail) not a car. Have a wonderful time and stay safe.

  • As in many hotels there is a car rental desk in the lobby near check-in and concierge. I forget which is in Flamingo..Hertz or Budget or? But I do remember seeing it there last year. You can rent the car there and drop off on way to airport (they then shuttle you rest way to airport if it_s off site)

  • You can begin a car rental process at any concierge desk in any hotel in Vegas. They will come and pick you up and take you to the rental office.

  • Check with the concierge at Flamingo. If they don_t then across the street at another casino they would have one. BTW Enterprise will come directly to go.

  • go to anywho.com

  • How difficult is it to get a taxi from JFK to Manhattan on July 4th?|111818

I_m told that because it_s Independence Day, a significant amount of drivers take the day off, and so it can be difficult to get a taxi. Also, I_m told that on Independence Day it can take longer to get into Manhattan than usual.

Is this true, what problems may I encounter?

  • Not that I want to correct SVincent but there is no bus at JFK that will take you directly to Manhattan for only $2.00.

But it will be quite difficult to get a cab at the airport (everyone is coming in for the fireworks). Trust me - with all the people coming in, taxi drives will not be taking the day off.

Your best bet: Take the subway:

Take the AirtTrain to the Howard Beach station. Then take a Manhattan bound A train to Manahhtan (since you didn_t indicate where in Manhattan you are going, I can_t advise further).

The AirTrain fare is $5 and the subway $2. When you get to the Howard Beach AirTrain station you will see MetroCard vending machines. There are people in maroon vests who will assist you should you need it. Purchase a $7.00 MetroCard and the proceed to the turnstiles marked NYC Subway. When you get thru the turnstiles go to the left and take the elevator or escalator down to the subway platform. The A train runs about every 16 minutes. Take the A into Manhattan, you can change to other subway line at various points at no extra cost if that will get you closer to where you want to go.

Note: If you will be returning to JFK you may wanyt to buy two $7.00 MetroCards or put $14.00 onto one. That way you_ll save time for the return trip.

Review the NYC subway map online to get a better idea of how to get to your destination. You can get a hard copy of the subway map at the Howard Beach station. Just ask the people in the maroon vests.

  • It most certainly can!!!! Your best bet is to travel by bus from the airport to Manhattan. WHy? Safer, easier and _LESS EXPENSIVE_!!!! The bus may run you...$2.00, but the cab maybe $45.00!! Big difference. Just do yourself and your pockets the favor on that day! Take the bus, lol! You_ll thank me later...

What hotel in Las Vegas is the best for marriages?|190891

My fiance and I are looking to get married in Las Vegas, we dont_ want to spend more than 5,000 on the actual wedding. Plane tickets and extra hotel nights are a gift.

What hotels can you recommend in terms of customer service?

  • The Venetian is beautiful and romantic with the water flowing through it.

  • Most of the major hotels on the Vegas strip have nice chapels and good wedding packages. You will have a great wedding in Las Vegas for way less than $5,000. Look at packages at Monte Carlo, Bellagio, Mandalay Bay and Treasure Island. The wedding packages at these hotels usually start at $299. Also make sure you understand the steps to getting married in Vegas.
    http://www.lasvegas-how-to.com/married.p

    Congratulations

  • My friend_s daughter got married at the Wynn and he said it was an awesome experience. They got married outside and the reception was in a bungalow suite. Very nice. Probably around your price range. Check out their website
    http://www.wynnlasvegas.com

Also I_ve heard very nice things about the JW Marriott. When my daughter got married last year it was a toss up between this place and Lakeside Gardens at Desert Shores. Because she really wanted the wedding outdoors in a beautiful setting, Lakeside Gardens won out. We then had her reception at Morton_s Steakhouse in a private dining room for 100 people. It was beautiful. Look at their websites.

  • We got married at the little chapel of the west and it was lovely we took the top package which was about $800 and then had a reception for 12 at Maggainaos. Best day of my life you will love it.

  • The Palms is a good hotel, a little away from the strip so its reasonable and nice. They have an awesome ghost bar to go for cocktails after.

I am not sure how much they charge for a wedding but the Venetian and Pallazzo are absoluetley gorgeous!!!!

  • oh, you mean weddings! I was going to say, if you are in Vegas without your spouse, then probably most hotels are going to be bad for marriages...

  • I have attended weddings at the Flamingo, Mirage, Ballys and Paris. All were very nicely done, each hotel has people who can help you with planning, meals, etc,

  • My son got married at _ Treasure Island _ excellent. They have a nice little chapel there . Its well worth having a look at

  • hmmm you are kind of limited with that kind of budget. i suggest that you check out the Planet Hollywood Hotel or the Palms.

  • I got married in the gardens at Flamingo. It was very beautiful and nice.
  • What are towns w/ great school districts in North Jersey? And a quick commute to Manhattan?|190786

Our family is considering moving to NJ but both of us work in Manhattan. We are interested in knowing what the best school districts are in North Jersey. The more details, the better. Any thoughts?

  • Well, it_s generally acknowledged that the towns all along the north side of Route 4 on the Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge are lovely towns with good schools, and they_re only about 30 or so minutes from Manhattan!

So, look into Tenafly, Teaneck, River Edge, New Milford, Oradell, Dumont, Paramus, Fair Lawn, etc., etc., etc., and the further north of Route 4 you go, the more _upscale_ it is, all the way up to Alpine, which is the most expensive suburban town in the USA, with average home prices starting at 4.4 million!!

South of Route 4 it_s cheaper, but let_s just say, _You get what you pay for,_ and leave it at that.

Good luck, and the link below is to a map of the area...
  • What is the best tour company to use in Las Vegas to take a day trip to hoover Dam?|142175

  • Wheres the coolest place to be for Halloween in the United States?|107970

I want to take a trip towards the end of October to some state that really knows how to celebrate Halloween. What I dont want is Halloween in Hawaii, or Halloween in Arizona. I want some place that captures the essence of autumn, pumpkin carving contests, street masquerades, themed food and drink, those fun houses where people jump out at you.

Some place where the leaves are beautiful and the culture is inviting, fun, and classically cool.

    Got any ideas?

  • Salem, Mass. Maybe they have a witch_s convention. Or Eerie, Indiana. Maybe Hell, Michigan is having devil of a time.

  • Ybor city, just outside of Tampa, the best

What of national interest is there to do in your town?|176823

What of national interest is there to do in your town?
Please answer the above question and sate where you are located (city/state/country). I_m thinking of taking a holiday. Thanks. ___

  • The Sears Tower?

  • Grand Rapids Michigan Lake Michigan has the best beaches and a beautiful shore line. Michigan_s Adventures just north of Muskegon Michigan.
  • Where can I take a family vacation with our dog who loves the outdoors?|120964

We are located in New York, so nothing further south than South Carolina, and nothing further west than whatever is next to Pennsylvania.
Our dog loves to go hiking with us and loves the beach. But we need _dog-friendly_ trails and beaches.

  • Some hotel will let you stay with your dog. Camping is the best vacation for the family and the dog. I heard that the mountain in Virginia and North Carolina. are the best.

  • What is so special about the Golden Gate bridge?|121445

And why do so many people want to make tourist there? It is just another bridge, why is it so attractive to tourists I don_t understand what_s it_s significance?

  • The Golden Gate Bridge had the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937. It has been surpassed by 8 others now.

The center span was the longest among suspension bridges until 1964 when the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge was erected between the boroughs of Staten Island and Brooklyn in New York City. The Golden Gate Bridge also had the world_s tallest suspension towers at the time of construction, and retained that record until more recently. In 1957, Michigan_s Mackinac Bridge surpassed the Golden Gate Bridge_s length to become the world_s longest two tower suspension bridge in total length between anchorages.

  • _The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the opening of the San Francisco Bay onto the Pacific Ocean. As part of both US Highway 101 and State Route 1, it connects the city of San Francisco on the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula to Marin County.

The Golden Gate Bridge had the longest suspension bridge span in the world when it was completed in 1937 and has become an internationally recognized symbol of San Francisco and the United States._

_The bridge is widely considered one of the most beautiful examples of bridge engineering, both as a structural design challenge and for its aesthetic appeal. It was declared one of the modern Wonders of the World by the American Society of Civil Engineers. According to Frommer_s travel guide, the Golden Gate Bridge is _possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world._ wikipedia.org

  • It_s name make it special, _The Golden Gate_. Also, it_s so awesome to see this huge structure over the bay and able to communicate point A with point B.

Another thing that I feel it makes this bridge special is the color. This orange tone make a cool effect when the background is cloudy. The color also make it look _Imposing_ and _huge_.

As other person said, It_s spectacular to see it with fog. For those who see it for the first time, It_s an unforgettable experience

In conclusion, The golden Gate Bridge is a bridge, but not like any other. For this reason is the most important symbol that represent _The City By the Bay_

    I love it!

  • It_s not just another bridge that connects point A to B. It_s a BEAUTIFUL bridge that functions as a bridge as well as an amazing art piece and yet, complements very well with its natural surroundings.

It is indeed a marvelous engineering structure that has now been surpassed by other newer structures. But you do have to see it in person first to understand the beauty of it. AND to see it in different weather conditions for that matter.

  • For the context of the times when it was constructed (1930s), the GG bridge was (and remains) an engineering marvel. There are a number of documentaries that cover its construction. It has withstood the test of time for aesthetics and engineering.

  • It_s a bridge that_s by the water ^_^

and it looks so cool at night with all the lights! (especially if you_re looking at it from the plane as it lands into the airport)

  • It_s a bridge like no other. See it on a foggy day ! No doubt you_ve never been there.

  • Go see and you_ll know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Can visitors to the USA get a refund of taxes paid during vacations?|196329

Does anyone know if visitors to the USA can get a refund of the taxes they_ve paid during their vacation - like reimbursement at the border as they leave the country or something? The UK and Australia have similar systems and I_m wondering if the US do. I_m planning to go for a 3-4 week holiday next year and am curious. I_m not a US citizen (obviously).

  • Great question. Great idea.

No once they get their hands on your money, you cant get it back.
By next year they will have raised sales tax even more...as city _ states _ federal ..every one ! is low on money.
Sales tax goes for upkeep of the state, and city .. parks-roads- police etc. Which you_ll be using, so that would be their argument, Im sure. They have plans for all kinds of new taxes, too !
Its possible you_ll have hotel tax too, if youre going to a tourist type area.

    Sigh.

  • No, if you buy anything here you need to pay the taxes on it. It_s a sales tax, not a citizen tax.

How do I find a honest moving company that is resonable? Moving from California to Gerorgia?|173561

Doesn anyone have a good referal and or some good advice on this?

  • Try ABF u-pack moving company. They drop off a trailer and you have 3 days to pack it and unload it. You are responsible for any damage because you packed it. All you pay for is the trailer use an mileage.Unlike pods ABF goes everywhere even a very small town. From MA to Arkansas it cost 1200 dollars. We have also used Mayflower and that was almost $6,000 but they do all the work. Things can get lost or damaged.
  • Thanksgiving trip ideas-What cool things in the United States do you recommend?|109885

We want to spend it in the United States. Some people are coming from New Hampshire, some from Maryland, some from San Francisco, CA so we want to _meet up_. We_d prefer warm/hot weather (so not the North) and/or a resort. Anywhere cool that you live or have visited you can recommend? We like to swim, shop, go to theme parks, water parks, sightsee, do tourist stuff, go to casinos. Not big nature people (hiking, biking) and not doing extreme sports (hang gliding, bungee jumping). Thanks!

  • You might want to consider Hawaii. On Oahu they have swimming, warm weather, shops, a water park, and tons and tons of touristy sight seeing stuff. Waikiki Beach sounds like it would be a good fit for you all. It is a long haul from the east coast, but worth the trouble to get there!!

    Have fun.

  • I would recommend staying in Pennsylvania. There are amusement parks, like Hershey, fairs, historical sites to see and you_d be in the middle. So if you would want to go see Maryland and go to Baltimore, you wouldn_t be far, you could go to the Hard Rock Cafe in the Inner Harbor see the Aquarium and all that.

  • Branson, Missouri! Fly into Springfield if you_re not driving, and enjoy the gorgeous scenery on the way to Branson! Uh, this is a _cool_ place, tho... not warm. It is centrally located, and about everything on your list exists there.
That is, it_s cool in the fall and cold in winter... except for the fact that it is Missouri... you can never depend on the weather. If you don_t like it one day, stick around. It_ll change! You can scratch your sunburned back with your frostbitten fingers...

  • try disneyland in florida

  • I can only advise you in the area I know as Im on the east coast. In November , the state that has what your looking for is Florida. bettyk

  • I think Florida is probably your best bet. It_s got everything you mentioned doing...Orlando or Tampa/Clearwater.

  • yes I have been to the florida keys and loved key west fl. lots to do there and all the places you want to see and do are there. We are going back in august.

  • SIX FLAGS!!

  • Come stay with me! I am the manager of a small bed and breakfast in Southern PA (another vote for Pennsylvania!), and we are just getting it started up. Check out the website (below), and then let me know when to expect you! We are designed to be a resting place for missionaries, etc., but are open to the public this year until we have more missionaries lined up. Oh, and we do have a full kitchen you can use, and the option of meals prepared (for an additional fee), so you could have your whole Thanksgiving dinner all set for you! Hope to see you for Thanksgiving!

  • go to Hawaii
  • Where is a good place to stay off Disney property?|108525

I have 2 teenagers and an 8 year old. Because of the extra person we keep getting bumped up to the more expensive rooms. We are on a budget..any suggestions about a good place to stay for a reasonable price?

  • The last time I went to Disney we rented a house about 8 miles away. It cost about $1,000 for the week. It came with 4 bedrooms plus a den with cots and a heated enclosed pool. It was great. We even had a large kitchen and family room. It is much cheaper than staying in Disney World. We went with out 4 kids and both my parents so we had plenty of room. And it was only minutes away from Disney World.

This year for the first time we are staying in Disney World only because it is a present from our parents. You may want to check out Universal Studios. Much better than MGM Studios in WDW! You can spend a couple days in that alone. We only spent one day there but would definately go back for 2!

By the way, google rental houses in the Orlando area. There_s tons of them! You can pick what size house to rent. And they usually go by the week, sometimes you even get daily rentals, depending on the prices. It is well worth it!

    Enjoy your stay!

  • Why not rent a condo or a house ?

Then you would have 3 + bedrooms and your own pool - many of them have games rooms PStations etc to suit teenagers

Homeaway is a good website - you are renting direct from the owner and they also have a security guarantee.

You can search by price (starting around $300 a week) although don_t be afraid to make an offer - times are very tough in the Orlando vacation rental market at the moment and there are 3500 owners competing for your business.

  • I stayed in a 2 bedroom suite at the Cypress Pointe Resort in 2003, and it was great. One bedroom had a king bed, and 2 twins in the 2nd bedroom. They are basically condos. There was also a sofa bed in the living room. The place had a big screen TV, full kitchen (all utensils included), washer and dryer and a jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom. It also had a screened in balcony area. They did not have housekeeping included in the price, but I believe it was available if you really wanted it. I went in November (off season is always cheaper!) and paid $79 - yes $79 a night for it. They must have had a surplus of the 2 bedrooms, because I_d been looking at 1 bedrooms for like $99 a night, and happened to see that the 2 bedroom was cheaper. I was shocked at what we got for the price. The location is convenient...theres stores and restaurants nearby, and the entrance to Disney was only about a mile or so.
    Good luck with your search!

  • Check out the Seralago hotel it has 2 room suites at reasonable rates. 1 Bedroom 2 double beds, murphy pull down, and a double pull out sofa. Depending on the time you want to go will determine the rate. You can also call the hotel directly and ask for the magic card rate. This rate is blacked out for April and other holidays. You can get the magic card for free through orlando.com. This hotel is right next to Old Town where they have rides and games of all sorts. With kids that age it will be nice for them to have something to do after the park. You can check out oldtown.com for more information. The pictures they show on the web site are actual rooms have stayed there 2 years in a row. They do have transportation to Disney if you need it free of charge, but all other parks are for a fee.

  • Well this might be a little much but its not too expensive. My family usually stays at a rented house with its own screened in pool in Kissimmee. I know this sounds expensive but they really aren_t. For a 3 bedroom house with a pool for 7 nights its $695.00. The company we go through is inn house vacation rentals i will give you the websites. They are really nice and are so much nicer then staying in a hotel. I hope you consider this option because it will make your vacation so much better and will be fin for your 8 year old, the 2 teenagers and you.

  • Check out the Grosvenor Resort, my family and i stayed there a few years back, it was pretty affordable, there was nothing particularly special about it like the Disney resorts have but, it is close to downtown disney, within walking distance, and you could hop on a bus from the hotel to go to the parks, It also has a pool, gym, game room, and tennis courts, after all, you won_t be in the room that much on your vacation, hope I could help.
  • What is the best cost parking location in San Francisco near Union Square?|193066

I need to go to union square in San Francisco this weekend and the mall parking seems very expensive at almost $35.00! Even if it is within .5 miles.

  • My suggestion is leave the car at home.public parking will run you 15 to $20 a day. It_s cheaper to find the parking spot outside the city and take BART to the mall.

  • The cheapest garages are the city-owned ones. That would be the Sutter/Stockton garage or the 5th _ Mission garage.

The entrance to Sutter/Stockton is tricky. You need to go north on Grant Street, then west on Sutter, then right on Stockton.

  • If it were me, if you are coming from the South Bay or the East Bay, I would just take hte BART into downtown. Parking can get really expensive.

What are some good places to visit in Alaska?|158470

I_m thinking about moving to Alaska but want to go and visit for a few weeks before I move there. I_d kind of like to get a feel for the whole state so I plan on keeping on the move and visiting several different parts.

  • Be sure to include Southeast Alaska in your travels. Juneau and Sitka are a little isolated, but Haines and Skagway are on the road system. I can tell you more if you_re interested. Let me know.

  • I used to live in Fairbanks. It is a great place to see. Also about an hour noth of fairbanks is chena hot springs. Here is a website.
    http://www.chenahotsprings.com/

If you have any other questions just ask- my parents still live up there.

  • The hot spots are along the South East coastal lines of Alaska. I have lived in Sitka and Cordova also been through Haines the eagles are the best and moste exciting to see moste of all. People here in Alaska like to see the glaciers calving. The best way to see them would be going on a tour boat like Kenai Fjords Tours
    http://alaska.org/seward/kenai-fjords-to
Another hot spot is Seward, in which cruise ships make a stop from early part of May to mid Sept.
    http://www.SewardAlaska.com.

  • Near eagle river..north of anchorage, there is a Russian Cemetary at the ELKUTNA exit. Its one of my favorite places to see up here.
  • What is fun to do in denver, co at night for ages 18 and under?|139667

My boyfriend and i are stuck at home for spring break and we need something exciting to do for cheap!

  • Be creative, you can find a way to acquire a keg (convince an older friend or sibling to buy it) and have all your friends over and throw a rager. Kegs are only about $50 (which is cheap) and you can charge $3 per cup and make a profit if you get enough people to come.

Yeah, go ahead and give me a _thumbs down._ I_m fun and honest, which is why I have 57% best answers, while the museum/shopping crowd has under 10%.

  • You can go to Colorado Mills Mall, downtown Denver, Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, Butterfly Pavillion, or Belmar or to Boulder.

  • indoor skydiving :))
    omg it_s sooooo fun!
    [[not scary]]

    eh, kinda expensive though.
    but definitely worth it

  • I_m not from Denver but there_s loads of things to do.... its a bigger, more lively place than where I live now and I always manage to have a great time

  • Besides going to a movie (which I think is fun anyway!) you could go to a play at the Denver performing arts center (sorry, I can_t remember what it_s called, but it_s really nice), or a concert (they have just about all the stars) but my top recommendation would be Elitch Gardens. Once in the regular season, they_re open _till 9pm. They really up-ed their game when they broke off from the Six Flags franchise. The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is fun, but the only things to do in the evening is IMAX movies (they don_t have the Hollywood movies, only the educational ones) and sometimes they have a special exhibition that has evening tickets available. Denver isn_t the best place for night-time activities, but you can still have fun!

  • goto 6 flags, imax, dave and busters, 16th street mall, im not familuar that much anymore i have moved to phx,az

    QUAKE22 GOOD answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • What is the difference between a hoagie and a sandwich?|160561

I don_t understand it. You can put the same ingredients between two slices of bread. I guess what I am after is what really makes a hoagie a hoagie??

  • You make a sandwich at home.

A hoagie is bought from a Mom and Pop store on the corner, and it has lunch meat, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a delicious oil on an Amaroso roll.

I live in Los Angeles. I cannot get a hoagie here :-(

    Can you send me one?

  • Amoroso_s rolls are what make a hoagie a hoagie!

  • __The hoagie (aka hero, submarine, grinder, and poor boy (or po_ boy)) is a sandwich defined by the bread- a small Italian (originally) or French bread loaf and its amount of stuffing (large compared to the average sandwich). Some of the names and the composition vary regionally, but the real deal is always a BIG sandwich.

  • I grew up in Philly and have heard many variations, but i beleive the commonly accepted historical source for the word hoagie, came from the old time Hog Island workers and the unusually long , overstuffed sandwiches they became known for bringing to work with them. It was often two meals for them since their shifts were so long. It became a popular regional treat and then grew from there! A hoagie is basically a sandwich overstuffed on a long roll, normally italian. And if you are from the area it has to be Amoroso_s bread ... mmmmmmm I miss it!

  • A hoagie is made on a hoagie roll which contains more breading than a thin piece of bread.

  • Usually a hoagie is an open faced sand which and it has been baked or broiled in an oven and a sand which has not

  • You gotta use the right roll to make a hoagie and S Philly has the best bakery_s for rolls and Amoroso_s is one of the most popular rolls to use. But it isn_t a hoagie if it is on bread it is just another sandwich.

  • A hoagie is a type of bread, a sandwich is a general term. All hogies are sandwiches, but not many sandwiches are hoagies.
  • How can I kill 4 hours in downtown Albuquerque? Should I stay in a hotel, or take the bus home that night?|160958

Next week I (and probably 1 other friend) am taking the bus to Albuquerque to see a free concert of my favorite band. The bus arrives 4 hours before the venue opens. Is there enough to do and see in downtown ABQ to kill the time? And also, there is a bus that goes back that night at 4:25 AM, would it better to take that bus home, skip the hotel all together and save a little extra cash?

  • I think the bus drops you off on 1st street right down town. It depends where the concert is, the convention center, which is downtown, Tingly, which is at the fair grounds, or the Journal which is out by the airport. There is not much to do down town. I would probably get a room and even rent a car. Everything is pretty spread out. If you had a car you could go ride the Sandia tram then get to the concert! Not sure when the bus will leave that next day but it_s never that fun to sleep in the station! I would get a room! Good luck!

How does someone go about getting a job at Yosemite Park?|155208

I_m looking to move to California and wanted to work at Yosemite Park. I went hiking there a few years back and always thought it would be a great place to work. Hey, even if it_s to work at the pizza place.

Now my questions are: What are the qualifications? Is it difficult to get a job there? Does anyone have first hand knowledge about working there?

If anyone could help me out with my curiosity in this, that would be much appreciated!

  • You do realize the park is closed in the winter?
You might want to consider the South Lake Tahoe area. It_s open year round and the park is just a couple of hours drive.

  • That is a National Park and so jobs are listed (when available) at the National Park Service web site. The concessions are under contract to the Park Service, so you would need to find their home office for applications. You_d probably need to talk to the manager at the concession stand to find out where to apply.
  • Which city is best to live in Chicago or san fransisco, San diego is an option as well?|157110

Which city has the highest living expenses and which has the lowest? Which city is the most artisticly flourishing?

  • San Diego has a lot of open areas........The utilities aren_t as expensive as in San Francisco or Chicago....The weather is more temperament in San Diego. Rarely do you need to wear long sleeves in San Diego. In the evenings you can wear a windbreaker.........very few times do you wear a leather coat. If it is clear blue skies with puffy clouds and no smog........then San Diego would be the choice.

As in all three places there are many nationalities from all over the world. Each has its flourishing in its own artistic ways.

Historically Chicago and San Francisco have the more iinteresting buildings.

Here are some good sites for housing information:

    www.realtor.com

    www.zillow.com

www.signonsandiego.com one of the local papers

  • I don_t know anything about San Francisco, but I_ve lived in San Diego for my entire life and I frequently travel to Chicago. San Diego has beautiful weather. Its usually sunny, but the weather is very unexpected. Just yesterday it rained and its June. In Chicago, the winters are very cold. Sometimes below zero. The summers are nice too, but sometimes it gets too humid in my opinion. I have to say that the cuisine and epicurean taste in Chicago is a lot better than San Diego, but I prefer the traffic in San Diego over Chicago anyday. Also if you there are other forms of transportation such as the trains, buses, or taxi. In San Diego, there are only the buses, the coaster, and the trolley. Hope that helped.

  • San Francisco is the most expensive city, followed by San Diego, then Chicago. Chicago has the Art Institute, and a very artistic community. It is a city that has all you would need, and more. Only drawback is weather. It is truly the windy city, and icy, freezing as well. San Diego has the best weather, but it_s people are typical Southern Cal. - rude, self absorbed, entitled, and narcisstic - sorry, but all of Southern Cal. is like that! Northern Cal. has the best people, they_re more like Midwesterners in attitude and values. Chicago_s people are great as well.

I prefer San Francisco, for it_s beauty, things to do, and openness of people. If you go there, just bring lots of money because it costs!

  • as for highest living i already KN0W without having to think its gonna be ANYWHERE iN CALi period.

lowest...i really cant say but prolly chicago and chicago is flourishing alot right now with the olympics coming here in acouple years and all...chicago has alot going on!

i dont know much of anything about san fran besides all the up_down hills and the golden gate bridge-- i couldnt live there, but heres something to ponder--
..........im trying to move FR0M Chicago T0 most likely San Diego real soonnnn....chicago cannot be compared to san diego! like everrr! cali has much more to do in my opinion ESPECiALLY with the beaches and celebs and stuff Oh! and might i add the wonderful weather =]]

  • San Diego is really nice.
  • What part of Florida is best to visit during the summer?|125306

What part of Florida would be best to visit during the summer.
Must have a beach, be kid friendly, and not be in a dangerous area/region. Thanks=]

  • .....any where along the Emeral Coast of Northwest Florida from Panama City to Pensacola.

  • I would recommend that you either go to Miami, Key West or Clearwater. Both Key West and Clearwater have very nice beaches are beautiful places to visit. I would not recommend going to Orlando as it can be very busy as many people go for a holiday and the parks are extremely busy. If you go to Orlando and go to the theme parks, you are wasting your money as you will constantly be hot and you ill have to wait in hours of queses to go on rides while you are scorching hot. Miami isn_t that kid friendly but can have some nice beaches. Personally I would go to Key West for a nice relaxing holiday!

  • well pensacola beach has white beaches unlike most beaches on the atlantic. there are more than 50 beaches and there is one for every person. to avoid the crowd i recommend chicken bone beach. (name doesn_t have to do with anything) they have like a 10 mile road that you can ride your bike on or walk with no cars on it and it is paved. however, the keys are a good place. but not key west, i have heard there are a lot of homosexual activity there.

  • The whole state is too hot and humid in Summer...it_s the worst state to visit. The best of the worst would probably be Key West because of the prevailing winds, keeping the temperature and humidity level low.

Key West is not as gay as Floridians contend. Another key to checkout is Sugarloaf Key:

    http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g3465

  • Siesta Key. I love that place.

  • Orlando and surrounding area.

Fort Walton Beach is a very friendly community with beach front!

  • Key West.
  • How long does it take mail to get from auburn California to San Diego Ca?|196169

I have friends that live in San Diego Ca and I am curious to find out: how many days it would take them to get a letter I send from auburn Ca...I tried google but no answer was found. Thanks for the help.

  • 2-4 days. A lot depends on when you mailed it and where you mailed it from.

For example if you mailed it on Saturday afternoon after the post office already picked up at that location, then they won_t get it going until Monday. Under those conditions it could be 5 days.
  • How do I figure how much money in gas it would cost and how much gas it would take to go on a trip?|107161

I am going to do a wyoming trip and I can_t remember how to figure what it would cost in gas for the trip. And how much gas it would take.

  • 1.Total the anticipated round trip mileage
2.Divide the total mileage by the miles per gallon your vehicle averages.
    3. Gas cost per gallon-here will just use $3.00 per gallon

Say 1 above is 1500 miles
And 2 above is 15 miles per gallon
Then divide 1500 by 15. =100 gallon of gas you will use (in this example)
Using $3.00 a gallon, and you use 100 gallon-then your paying $300.00 for gas on your trip.

  • Depending on what car you drive.
Most cars are averaging about 20 cents per km. How to calculate that?
Take your full tank price divided by the maximum km your car can travel.
    i.e. = $100/500km = $0.20/km
So if your trip is going to be like 600km away, if would probably cost you around $120.
  • Any unguided tours to go horse back riding on the beach in California?|190823

I went to place when I was younger and they let you RUN the horses on the beach, it was all unguided they just tell you to follow the path, I_m looking for somewhere similar to that. I live in southern califronia.

  • I don_t know of one beach in southern California that allows horses on them. Most beaches are state parks, and I know that its not allowed. Then the city beaches are even more srict. Maybe theres a private beach I don_t know about that allows it. Not in Orange County. Good Luck!
  • What Hotel should we stay at for a great relaxing pool resort experience in Phoenix, AZ?|174035

If one had a choice to stay at the The Westin Kierland Resort _ Spa in Scottsdale or the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort _ Spa, Phoenix, which would you chose.

Our main focus is on nice restaurants in and around the hotel, _ laying buy a nice pool/pools during the day, lazy river a plus. To my knowledge they are both magnificent, but which one stand out above the other.

Thanks and please only answers that points to one or the other with a reason behind your choice.

  • I would vote the J.W. Marriott.
It is not really in the _city_ area. Its more north and the atmosphere is BEAUTIFUL! It_s quiet and serene and the pool is nice. Its not far from Desert Ridge either, which has great restaraunts and shopping.

As for the Westin Keirland. They have a NICE spa, but I wouldn_t chose it, because its right in the business of Scottsdale. A plus, it is by Kierland, which has upscale shopping and very nice restaraunts. (pricey)

Oh and just fyi... I got my engagement pics taken at the J.W. Marriot. They turned out gorgeous.

If you are interested. Of all hotels, I_d probably choose the Hyatt Regency off Scottsdale Road and I think its...

  • The Pointe is actually not called that anymore it is called like the Grand or something similar. I_ve never stayed there, but my friend goes up there from Tucson once a year. I guess they have like a water park too.

  • Doubletree or Camelback Resort and Spa

  • The Pointe Hilton 2 resorts are wonderful.

  • Pointe Tapatio!!!!!!!

  • Westin Kierland Resort _ Spa all the way!

What is the best way to sell an orlando timeshare?|193681

This timeshare is located near walt disney world and goes by a point system (no specific weeks used)

  • It doesn_t hurt to try craigslist but it is not an effective selling tool for timeshares (doesn_t hurt to try though).

The most effective way to sell is research and working with a good company.

I made a successful sale of my Mystic Dunes timeshare (Orlando) using sellmytimesharenow.com

Here is the research I did before choosing a company

    1. I checked the BBB report on the company
    2. I made them provide traffic and offer reports
    3. I acted like a buyer on search engines and only inquired with easy to find, top ranked companies
    4. I searched online for complaints about the company.

All this took me a couple hours (the final decision took days!)
I also posted on free sites at the same time and recommend you do the same as well.

I wish you the best in your venture!

    .:Gene:.

  • You can visit http://www.mytoursguide.com and find a good number of articles and very useful tips to learn timeshare options worldwide. One can even get a free timeshare as a promotional offers from travel companies.

  • We are in the same boat. Try redweek.com. Lots of good information on how to sell _ where. We are to the point where we want to give ours away!

  • If you don_t have a lot of money for advertising and you don_t want to pay a percentage to a realtor. You might want to try craigslist.com it is free.

  • Timeshares were an _80s phenomenon_ and can hardly be given away today. Most buyers finally realized that the hidden monthly costs are much more expensive that just renting a condo. Good luck. Try doing a Google search on _Condo Buyers._
  • What are some Chicagoans recommendations for things to do in the Chi?|104108

We are staying in the Chinatown Hotel. We are looking for inexpensive activities to do during our 4 day stay. Also looking for opinions on living in Hyde Park, Fuller Park, West Loop, and Back of the Yards. Thanks Chicago.

  • Depends on when you_re staying here. If you_re coming here soon, it_ll still be a little cold, so you_ll probably want to do indoor stuff like the museums (which have free days ... call first), Navy Pier, etc.. You can walk through Water Tower Place, look at the stores and slowly start to feel really poor (just kidding). Don_t know if you like to go out and party but the Metromix website has a list of bars with drink specials ($5 martinis, cheap beers and mixed drinks, etc.) Check out
    http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/barsa
and click on the little calendar thing on the right side called _bars and clubs deals_ and they_ll show the cheap bars. There are also a million little restaurants in the city with good, cheap eats. Pick up a copy of Time Out Chicago magazine when you get here. It lists bars, clubs, gallery openings, cheap plays, cheap restaurants, etc. It_s a pretty handy compilation.

As far as living in the neighborhoods you mentioned, they_re all pretty decent. West Loop might be kinda pricy, though. But Back of the Yards is a new, developing neighborhood with lots of rehabs. And all along South Halsted street from about 35th St. north to Jackson is being rehabbed. Lots of new art galleries, lofts, shops etc. The entire neighborhood around the University of Illinois-Chicago has been remade. It_s a little pricey too, but you might want to look into it. Hyde Park is a traditional old diverse neighborhood that close to the lake and the Museum of Science and Industry. You might be able to find some cheap place there though. You should probably look into a few other place. There are other neighborhoods besides those that are nice and have cheap rent. Not sure how much you want to spend, though...

    good luck

  • Yeah, you can do all that, and, then, go to a Cubs game.

  • try one of our famous pizzas at UNO_s or Lou Milnotti_s . Navy Pier boat ride . millinum park (free). Walk down Michigan Avenue Mag Mile Near North side. Visit water tower (both of them).

  • Fishing for carp in the Calumet River

  • Free stuff to do while in Chicago...Lincoln Park, Dearborn _ Division area LOTS of things to do and inexpensive as well. But you have to eat at 5 Faces on Division and Dearborn. It_s a whole in the wall place with hot dogs, burgers, fries, pizza puffs and cigarettes if you need them.

Please just go to 5 Faces. You won_t regret it.
  • How can I get from LaGuardia Airport to 1568 Broadway in New York?|178301

So this will be my husband and my first time in the city. We really would like to find the least expensive means to get from the airport to The Double Tree hotel on Broadway. We are trying to avoid cabs, but can we take the subway or a bus to the hotel? Please help asap! Thanks!

  • Here_s how to get from LGA to the Double Tree Hotel in Times Square.

Step 1: purchase a $4.50 MetroCard from any Hudson News stand at the airport and take the M60 bus from the airport to the Astoria Blvd subway station.

Step 2: at the Astoria Blvd subway station, transfer to the Manhattan-bound (westbound) _N_ or _W_ subway lines (Yellow Line on the subway map). Take either line from Astoria Blvd to 49th Street. The transfer between the bus and the subway at the Astoria Blvd subway station is free.

Step 3: at 49th Street, exit the subway at the south end of the station (47th Street) and you_re right there.

I hope this information is very helpful. If you have any questions or need travel directions while in town, just drop me a line by clicking on the avatar and e-mail icon in the profile. I_ll be glad to help.

    Good luck
    Native New Yorker

  • The easiest is to get on the Q33 bus from any terminal in LaGuardia to the last stop (Roosevelt Avenue) then go into the bus terminal building and take the E train (downstairs) toward Manhattan to 42nd street/Port Authority. You can walk from there.

At the airport look for metro card vending machines in the terminal near the exits and buy metrocards to get on the bus and subway. The bus takes coins ($2.25 but you would have to buy a metro card anyway to get on the subway)

  • Take the M-60 bus to Astoria Blvd which is one stop from LGA
Go upstairs and take the Downtown N or W train to Times Square
The often suggested Q-33 bus is a slow crowded local bus once it leaves the LGA property .....not so with the M-60 to the N / W combo

  • take the shuttle, only about $14

    http://www.goairlinkshuttle.com/

  • It would be simpler for a first-timer to take regular airport transportation from LGA to midtown on the West side. That address should be walkable from 42nd St.

  • take the M60, it will take you to Broadway, then get on the subway at 116th and Broadway.

  • Walking is the least expensive way to go!

How long would it take a package to get from Newport Beach to Chico?|181078

I ordered a sweater from this place in Newport Beach, California and I wanted to know typically how long it takes to get to Chico, California from there. It is on regular ground, nothing special. It_s only like a 2 hour drive from here so how long would it take in the mail?

  • It depends on how they ship it, but I_d expect two days after it_s shipped. Remember that they won_t necessarily pack and ship it the day you order it.
  • What is a good place in Illinois that offers fun for the whole family?|191297

I live in Illinois and wanted to take my cousin who is 9 and my parents not to six flags but somewhere similar to six flags which offers rides/ roller costers any good places?

  • Well, it depends on where you live. I think Great America is in Gurnee, that_s up near Chicago.

Also, it_s July, which means you_re coming into or already into County Fair season.

There_s the Duquoin State Fair in late August, and I think they hold some kind of function in Springfield in early August. ;)

And, its out of state, but there_s always Santa Claus Indiana, the waterpark there is supposed to be outstanding, and the refreshments are reasonably priced, at least you can keep refilling your drink, according to the ads. I personally think I-64 in Indiana has us beat for green spaces along the highway.

  • You will be able to find some hotels that will allow 18 year olds to rent a room. However, and I do mean however, not all will - some require you to be at least 21. You may want to check ahead of time with any that you reserve to make sure you_re not left _out in the cold_ literally!

What are the benefits of moving to Hawaii?|164897

If you had the opportunity to move to Hawaii, would you do it? If you had enough money saved, a place to rent, and a job there, and the only thing holding you back was to finally make the decision if you were going to pack up whatever you know right now, and make the move or not, would you do it?
I say life is short, why not spend it in Hawaii if at all possible. Do you agree with that?

  • I am ready to go there now!! Having visited there 6 times, absolutely love it there! Met some wonderful friends in person whom I have _met on the internet_, so it was awesome to meet them in person!
I would def give up the Michigan winters to live there!!!
The tradewinds are totally awesome, sitting on the lanai of a morning watching the waves of the ocean, smelling the scents of Hawaii, and especially the Aloha Spirit of the peoples!!!

  • Well I actually did this exact thing myself, I have lived here for 4 years and I love it. I did not even have a job or a place when I moved but now I know it was the best decision I have ever made!!

  • Hawaii is like no other!
i mean if you_ve never been to hawaii you probably can never imagine what the word _Aloha_ means. That_s just how it is. Only on hawaii can you feel so connected to the people on the island. I was born and raised there but now I am living on the mainland and I can tell you this is two differnet worlds. Only downfall is the cost of living. Seriously crazy so make sure you paln on buying a home or something along those lines. it_s why i moved.

  • I_m desperately trying to get back after living in Maui for a few years. The beauty was never lost on me and the people are the best. I do miss the pineapple because we can_t get it in Chicago without paying a fortune. I miss the warmth of the air, the water, and the people. I miss the laid back lifestyle and taking my stateside friends to the Luau.

  • Yes I would and am... My husband is there now and why not live the rest of your life or at least part of it there... and we did not do all the planning that you are talking about. he is working and has been there 3 months and I will follow in 3 months but I am going tomorrow to visit.... PARADISE especially with the one you LOVE

  • u go for it. wont know till u try.

  • It would just cost a lot of money... I_m in Hawaii and maybe the beauty is lost on me because I see it every day, but I don_t think it_s quite worth it.

  • If I had the opportunity to live in Hawaii I_d be there in a second. The only thing is I_d have to make good money. Enough to be able to afford a home there. Hawaii_s expensive but there_s a damn good reason... It truly is paradise!

  • I would do it, simply for the pineapple!

  • I did it...twice.

I had been to Hawaii (different islands) a few times and fell totally in love with the place, so when my husband and I got married, we moved to the Big Island. We loved it but unfortunately weren_t well-prepared financially, so when my husband was offered a big raise and promotion at the company he worked for in California, we moved back to the mainland. We said that we_d work hard to pay off all our debt and be back in Hawaii for good in 3-5 years.

Within a couple of years we had decent money coming in. We paid off our debt and when we decided to separate in 2005, I applied for a job in Hawaii, got it, and moved back to the islands.

  • I live in Hawaii and the best part of living here is the Aloha Spirit, the beaches and the non stop sunshine. Live Aloha!!

  • The only benefits I can say about Hawaii is the nice weather and the low crime rate. Hawaii is a nice place to live once you lived all the other places you wanted to live.**

  • i wouldn_t. i was there (Oahu _ Maui) for almost 2 weeks. Fell in love with the beauty, warmth, and pineapple (many other things as well), but id miss seeing snow on christmas or going alpine skiing and things like that. would i go there again for vacation? in a heartbeat, but not to live.
  • Is it possible to rent a hotel in Orlando, FL without a major credit card, and without being 21?|139962

I_m going to go to Halloween Horror Nights, and I don_t have a credit card, but would like to stay in a hotel close by to have an extra day at Universal. Does anyone know a place?

  • Hotels will let you pay cash once you get there, so that won_t be a problem. It_s the making the reservation. Sometimes, if you call the hotel directly and tell the person at the desk that you don_t have a card but wish to reserve the room, they will work with you. If not, ask to speak to the manger. Be super-polite, volunteer to leave some additional deposit money for the length of your stay or offer to send them a money order for half the deposit in advance. They will let you, it_s just sometimes finding the right person to let you.

  • Most hotels/motels require that you are at least 18 to check in, sometimes 21 and sometimes even 25. The age minimum is totally up to the property.

As for not having a credit card, they would not hold the room for you without one but you can use your debit card number if it has a VISA or MasterCard logo on it (they shouldn_t charge anything unless you don_t show up without calling first or call to cancel after their cancellation deadline). Ask if you can pay cash when you actually check in.

  • Most hotels let you stay if you_re over 18. If you_re picky about hotel it would be best to have a credit or debit card. If you_re not, most hotels accept walk-ins especially this time of year since it_s less crowded. We did it twice. Just show up after 3 or 4pm and ask for a room. But it would be best to use credit card; borrow one from a parent or someone close and pay them back.

Orlando Metropolitan Resort or International Plaza Resort and Spa

Try going to HHN on Weekdays it_s cheaper and less crowded!

Edit- For the person who put Kissimmee...There are nice hotels there...More to the Disney area though =D Ramada Westgate is great and cheaper. They have an indoor pool!...But this person wants to stay near the parks. Most of the hotels on the source have free transportation to the parks and go until late at night. If you_re driving parking is cheaper after 5pm (I think)...right on time of HHN.

  • You should go to a real travel agency. They can make the reservation withou you having a credit card, though you may have to pre-pay and also give the hotel a significant cash deposit. Not sure about the age 21 issue in FL, but that is a hotel policy and not law in most states (law is usually age 18).

  • I would have someone like your parents call and make reservations with a credit card then pay cash when you check out.
Other than that you may be able to find something on the internet and call in advance, there are some cheap hotels around Kissimee. But I would not stay in them

  • unfortunately to check into hotels you need to be a legal adult. so sadly unless you have someone who is 21 or older to go with you, you wont be able to check in.

  • Most hotels will require a credit card for _incidentals_ in case you destroy the room.
Maybe go in with a friend who does have a credit card or a parent?

  • no

I want to send my friend a gift for Valentine_s Day, and I live in Southern California, and she lives in upstate New York. • What is it like to drive in North Dakota in the winter?|192795

I have a subaru. Will that be OK? I currently live in Florida and I_ve traveled to Alaska where they have to plug in their cars so that the engine blocks don_t freeze. Is that true in ND?

  • I_m from Bismarck. I can honestly say we have had some weird winters lately. I don_t think we have had more than a foot of snow in the last few years combined ( in Bismarck anyway ). It gets bitterly cold in the january months though. I also drive a subaru and have never plugged it in. No problems here. Plus with your subaru you_ll have no issues getting around.

And yes you can add a engine block heater at any time. Shouldn_t cost more than 100 or so. What part of ND are you moving to? Maybe I can show you around if its Bismarck. Only takes a day. lol

  • I_m from Manitoba (just across the border) so I know exactly what its like. Your Subaru will do fine for traction and I_m sure I don_t have to tell driving on snow is a lot different so take it slow till your used to it. We do plug in our cars when it gets really cold but if your car is built in the last few years and is in good condition it should start unless the the temperature drops below -30 celcius (-22F) It almost always gets bitter cold the first week of january so it depends when your coming. The coldest I_ve ever been outside for and extended period of time was -54c (-65.2) with the wind chill
  • What areas in Los Angeles are the most dangerous to live in?|122518

I planning on moving to L.A in the next two years and i want to live in the _good_ or _nice_ part of L.A because i hear about a lot of shootings, gang violence and racially motivated killings in certain parts of L.A i just don_t know which parts they are .i know that every city/county has crime and violence but some places have it more than others.

  • Seriously, some areas of compton are very bad. but other area are very nice people don_t realize that some area of compton are very expensive and have nice big singlehome lotss and wide streets.

The worst areas of los angeles is the majority of the ares running along the 110 freeway. the areas that are actually part of the city of los angeles places like (willowbrook, watts, athens, mt washington, cypress park, vermont harbor)

  • 95% of greater LA is safe. You can tell the dangerous areas as soon as you drive into one. They are the ones where people have bars on their home windows. Specially the areas where they also bar the second floor windows.

The rest of greater LA is fine.

  • Boyz N Da Hood is not really a legit documentary and NatGeo only does these specials for money.

Plus, all you need to do is believe these documentaries to know where the bad areas are. You can be a resident of Kokomo, Indiana and even know what they are.

  • It_s not too hard to figure out. Most of the news is made down in South LA, Compton, and Boyle Heights.

Not that you need to worry about that right now... Just make sure your resume shines, and that you have a lot of cash and experience when you do get here.

  • you mean LA county?
compton is terrible, east LA...any place in/near those cities.
compton has tons of shootings/gang violence...
good areas are La Verne, San Marino, Pasadena...very expensive though.

Would my friends and I be able to stay in hotels on a trip down the east coast of the USA?|161446

Anyone know if hotels would allow a mix of 18 and 17 year olds to stay there unaccompanied? (4 maximum)

  • No. Most require all occupants to be 21 or over - unless you have legal guardians/parents hosting children under their protection. Sorry.

  • Most don_t say anything when handed a credit card with ID at 18 as long as the info like Name matches. To be on the safe side the 17 year old can get a paper from Guardian or parent that states they have permission to be staying at the hotel(s) and have it notarized. I have found that most states on the east coast aside from alcohol consumption and gambling allow 18 year old to act as adults after all if you commit a crime you will be charged as an adult.

  • You do need to check with the individual hotels. Some require age 21 to check-in and others only require age 18.

Most hotels in the USA that require age 21 do so becasue there are mini-bars containing alcohol in the rooms.

    Good luck!

There are two with a rating of 6, located in zip codes 93551 and 93552. You can probably expand your search out, to possibly find schools nearby with higher ratings, but thought you would like to start here.

  • I went to the Phoenix Symphony the other night -- I wore a button-up long sleeve shirt with slacks and dress shoes. The women wore simple dresses.

I don_t know if the NY Philharmonic is more upscale - maybe clothing you would wear to a wedding, or to church? I don_t think a tuxedo would be appropriate...

  • Do you have a lil black dress?? Nothing too glam. A nice simple dress with pretty accessories. I think a up-do will be good. For the guy a nice suit with a different type of shirt not a dress shirt but maybe a nice polo inside?

  • you must be dressed up at all times

  • For the Evening try a simple dress, Black is always good. For a guy, a basic suit is fine.

For the matinee , its a bit more casual, a sweeter and khakis or Docker Types are OK.

  • a coctail dress in the evening and a decent dress, skirt and blouse or even pants suit in the day time. guy in the day dockers and a blazer, oxford shirt and tie. evening a dark suit , white shirt and tie.
  • Can i rent a car in houston texas and turn it in in new york?|176532

We are planning a trip to new york in march. We are leaving from Houston Texas. Can I rent a car in Houston and turn it in in New York? We plan on catching a plan back.

  • You can, but it will cost a lot more than returning it in Houston.

  • Sure, but it_ll cost you far more than the airplane flight. Driving 1700 miles? Don_t do it. Fly there, rent a car (not at the airport) and fly back.

  • it_s cheaper to fly there too than driving unless u want to visit other cities on the way.
thousands of miles is a lot of gas money.
  • What are the best areas to live in Buffalo, NY?|190014

I am thinking about relocating to Buffalo for a few different reasons, but I am hoping for some advice. What areas are good and which ones are bad? Is the weather worse in some places than others? Which places are safest, etc. Thank you!

  • We_d welcome you here.

I guess it depends on what you are looking for in terms of location. The general rule is, snow piled up the more south you go from the city of Buffalo. Yes, storms do hit everywhere from time to time because of lake effect snow, but the so-called southtowns get hit more often (West Seneca, Hamburg, Orchard Park, etc.).

In the city, the best area is probably North Buffalo. South Buffalo isn_t far behind although a little more blue collar. The other parts of the town aren_t as nice. City living has its advantages in terms of convenience and lifestyle.

In the suburbs, the economic leaders probably are Clarence, Orchard Park, East Aurora, Amherst, Williamsville and Lancaster. Lackawanna is down there with Buffalo in terms of average income. Tonawanda is a notch above.

  • The best places probably would be Clarence or Amherst.
Worst would be in the actually city or the Tondawanas.
The weather_s worst in the Southtowns. (west seneca, hamburg, etc.) The weather really isn_t that bad though, it_s the unemployment.

  • east aroura

  • Buffalo has been known to get unimaginable amounts of snow otherwise it_s ok.Do your homework as to where you want to live.

How much money can be saved with a big house in bad neighborhoood?|186082

I have very little knowledge about real-estate so please take this in mind but very curious. I am 25 and I still rent through apartments. Anyway I wa starveling from Nashville to Tunica Miss. and as I was crossing the Tenn/Miss Border in memphis I noticed a huge newly built house roughly 27 miles from the casino but the it was located in one of the worst neighborhoods that I have ever seen. I mean across the street from this house was a run down old shack and less than 60 feet down the road on the same side was a Trailer park...

Roughly how much Money can you save if you build a huge house in a terrible neighborhood?
I know the question come with plenty of answers but is this something that alot of people are doing?

The house was 2 stories and sat on about 3 acres of land 26 miles out side of Tunica and for anyone who has ever traveled that arae you know its prett bad.. Ii even seen street walkers about 4 miles down he road from this House.

  • It_s possible that those people were able to get the acreage really cheap because of the bad location, however building the house wouldn_t be any cheaper -- materials, labor, etc., don_t go down because the neighborhood is bad, only property value does.

  • Depending on the security system and the safety of that _investment_ you may wish to reconsider this plan.

You build a house to live in for 10 years or to sell in two for a profit.
  • Can you recommend an alternative wedding planner in Las Vegas?|111016

My fiance and I are looking to get married in Las Vegas next year. We_re trying to have a wedding on the pirate ship at the Treasure Island Casino. Our style is more alternative/punk/retro, but it would be nice to find a wedding planner that specializes in alternative style weddings. We just feel an ordinary wedding planner will not be able to understand our needs. Any suggestions in Las Vegas?

  • CLM Weddings specializes in Las Vegas destination weddings, Call (702) 982-2129.

Professional consultants and tailored weddings for every budget can be found with AR Consulting. Call (702) 631-3025 for more information.

  • as you_ve already decided where you want to get married, you don;t need to go to the expense of a wedding planner. Call Treasure Island direct - their weddings department will allocate a wedding coordinator to you and they_ll be more than happy to help. An outside consultant won_t be able to influence what Treasure Island can offer you.

    Have fun!

  • I agree you should call TI but when you call, ask for the Concierge Desk. They can be very helpful and and will give you advise on how to go about planning your wedding. They will also recommend a wedding planner they have worked with if you really need one.

    Congratulations

  • A good wedding planner would be flexible and works to your needs so don_t limit yourself or you could end up paying over the odds.

  • Call Treasure Island and ask!

  • just google it

  • How much does a trip for two to Alaska cost?|175647

Husband and I want to take a trip to Alaska. We live in Michigan. How much should we expect to spend? What would you recommend and what would you not recommend?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • Check Orbitz.com or similar for plane fares; we paid $550 each from NV. B_Bs/rented cabins cost $80-$120/night. I, personally, am not a cruise person. My husband and I flew up and rented a car, which was pretty expensive - around $1200. We got lucky and they were out of the cars we chose, so they upgraded us to an SUV at no charge. Even if we would have paid $2000 for an SUV it would have been worth it. There are many unpaved roads here that you will want to drive, like the Denali Hwy. Not that you necessary need a 4-wheel drive, but it_s nice. We spent 10 days driving a small part of the country (it_s HUGE) and loved every minute of it.

    Here_s what I think you shouldn_t miss:

Homer for fishing - expensive but worth it. We went out in a 6 person boat (us, 3 other people and the captain). We caught not a lot of Halibut this time of year, but enough to send home over 30 lbs. The whole fishing trip including shipping the fish back cost around $850, but it was something I_ll probably not do again, so it was worth it.

Denali National Park - You have to take a bus in to the park. I recommend that you take the Park Service bus, which is what we did. It costs $40/person to go in around 80 miles to Wonder Lake - the 2nd to the last stop. You have to pack your own food and water and it takes 11 hours. It was well worth it - we saw bears, caribou, moose, etc. There are also tours where they serve lunch and have someone narrate, but they cost around $135/person. Totally not worth it in my opinion. Our bus driver had worked there for 9 years and provided plenty of information.

Fairbanks - We were lucky enough to stay at a small lodge about 25 miles outside the city that had a dogsled team. We were close enough to Fairbanks to drive in and see the University of Alaska Museum. It was incredible. Admission was $10 each and well, well worth it.

There_s so much that we didn_t see! I_m actually typing this from a little bar in Healy - we_re flying out tomorrow. My husband got a cold so he went to be early. I would be happy to tell you more about our trip if you_re interested. You can email me at ldg.eal@gmail.com, I hope you get a chance to come up. We_re talking about our next trip already!

  • How about a cruise? You can take a cruise to Alaska starting at about $750 per person for a 7 day cruise round trip from Seattle. If you prefer a longer cruise then do a cruise/tour which starts at about $1,750 per person. This would include several days on land either before or after a cruise. I recommend Princess as they can take care of every detail and give you the vacation of a lifetime.

What are some romantic things to do around Boston?|172196

I_m looking to create a nice evening out in the city of Boston and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Price is not a problem.

  • Dinner at Top of the Hub in the Pru would be a lovely idea. Figure out when sunset is and try to make a reservation for then. You will get a lovely view over the city. Finale is also nice as well, and very cozy.

As others have suggested, a walk through the Common, a Swan Boat ride, or a Harbor Cruise are all great ideas as well.

What does she like? It sounds silly, but does she like sports? I love baseball, and I_d find it very romantic if my boyfriend took me to a Red Sox game. Music? Plays? There_s always a good concert or theatre show somewhere!

  • Go to top of Hancock or Prudential building or go on a harbor cruise.

  • I met my bf in his hometown of Boston not too long ago (my 1st time) and just loved the place. He took me to Boston Commons and then to Cheers (just across the street); then for a ride on the Swan Boats; we went to Faneuil Hall Marketplace and then for a nice meal on the pier...

    try this website www.cityofboston.gov/visitors

  • A view of the city is always nice and romantic, so you could go to the top of the Prudential Building, walk around the commons and ride the swan boats, and then go for a walk around the water. Maybe eat at a restaurant near the pier, and afterwards walk around the North End- get some pastry and sit in a little coffee shop for dessert. Finish the night off at one of the fabulous hotels in the Boston area which often offer spa packages, etc.

  • Walk down Blue Hill Avenue any Friday night.

  • I would say that you should take a walk around the common or ride a horse drawn carriage thats always grand?lol

  • The swan boats are great and memorable.
