Can someone get married the same day when arriving in Gatlinburg, Tennessee?|116937

My fiance and I are planning to get married in Gatlinburg,TN and I was wondering if there are chapels that take walk-ins or may arrange same day services? We are not planning a fancy service, just the typical I do_s.

  • There are no waiting periods or blood tests. You can get married the same day as your license is issued and you may obtain your license up to 30 days prior to your wedding, however the license is only valid for 30 days. Both parties must be present to obtain a license.

  • yes they can. as long as they_re at a legal age, sure why not.

  • you need 2 check with state laws there

  • As far as i know yes, and alot of the chapels in gatlinburg also have honeymoon packages in some of the cabins...

  • If your looking for a simple traditional wedding and nothing too fancy, than u choose an excellent location. Their are plenty of chapels and etc., for y_all to choose from. Which ever fits to what your looking/wanting out of the wedding service. They have places from the chapels, in town, or even up in the mountains, close to the cabins. Gatlinburg has alot to offer and explore, so enjoy your wedding, honeymoon, and trip. Congratulations!!!

  • i live here in sevierville ...all you have to have is your license which is easily obtained and presto you can be married in no time flat ..i think one of them even has a drive through ..lol..make sure you are really ready for marriage and good luck...

  • sure you can do it. just find the right place. try the phone book and look up wedding chapels or something like that.

  • Gatlinburg is in Sevier County, Tennessee.

Marriage Licenses are easy to obtain in Tennessee. Simply appear in person at any County Clerk_s office, or one of the Marriage License Centers in Sevier County. Both parties must be present in person. Proof of age is required by a valid driver_s license or, another state-issued I.D., a valid passport, or certified birth certificate. You do not have to be a resident of Sevier County to get married here.

Couples may also bring a marriage license from any county in the state of Tennessee. Remember, licenses are only valid within thirty days from issuance. If applicants are under age 18, both parents or legal guardians must sign the marriage certificate.

No appointment is required at the Sevier County License Centers. Cost is $45.00 for out-of-state residents, which must be presented only in cash in the exact amount.

PLEASE NOTE: Recent Legislation has made Tennessee Residents subject to an additional fee for a marriage license if they have not had certified marriage counseling. Check with your County Clerk_s office concerning this matter.

You may get married as soon as you have a license to do so in hand.

  • yup and please pick me as an best answer i have never been one :_(

  • Yes! Several Chapels I_m sure that you can just walk in but you might want to call ahead to check on Marrage Licensing and tidy the detailes! Best Wishes

  • yes,my best wishes

  • Yep.

Residency Requirement: You do not have to be a resident of Tennessee.

ID Requirement: Valid driver_s license or certified birth certificate or valid passport. You must also provide your Social Security number. It is a non-negotiable requirement. You must have proof of Social Security. Passports from those who are not US citizens are acceptable.

Previous Marriages: You will need to show a copy of your divorce decree.

    Waiting Period: None.

Fees: Cash only in some counties, and some accept debit cards. The fee for a marriage license is $93.50 - $98.50. If you complete a premarital preparation course in the year prior to your application date, you will receive a $60.00 discount. You will need to provide a Certificate of Completion. Non-residents can receive the $60 discount if they complete an Affidavit of Non-Residency.

Other Tests: No blood test required.

Cousin Marriages: Yes. A marriage to a first cousin is allowed.

    Common Law Marriages: No.

Under 18: If either party is under the age of 18, they must be accompanied by parents. If under the age of 16, Tennessee law requires that the couple receives a court order before being allowed to marry.

Officiants: Any ordained or licensed clergymen over the age of 18, and justices of the peace, members of county legislative bodies, county executives and former county executives, current and former judges and chancellors of this state, current and former judges of general sessions courts, current and former governors of this state, the county clerk of each county, current and former speakers of the senate and speakers of the house of representatives, and Mayors of municipalities.

Miscellaneous: The marriage license is valid for thirty (30) days.

  • You can go anywhere and get married that day as long as there is a Justice of the Peace or other certified individual who is available to do it. However, you will have had to already gotten a marriage license for that state (which generally entails blood tests and paperwork.)

  • call their local licensing office _ they_ll tell you what you have to do

a marriage license doesn_t require much, other than signing your names, and showing your drivers license

    then you_re good to go

blood tests aren_t done anymore (not anywhere I_ve ever been)

  • YUP - Just knock out your two front teeth and cross your eyes and you are in!!!
Actually they say that Gatlinburg has more wedding chapels than vegas now.

  • they have some--my dad got married like that...but i couldn_t tell you their names
  • Need to access travel agencies to escorted tours to yellowstone national park?|126570

We would like a complete package tour to Yellowstone national park and need suggestions on travel agencies that provide that service.

  • Almost any travel agency can do it. Major tour companies typically work with any accredited travel agency.

Check with a couple of agencies in your area and see if any have someone on staff who knows Yellowstone well. Check also to see if the agency is a member of ASTA (America Society of Travel Agents). ASTA members are required to adhere to a code of ethics.

  • I think your better off going at it yourself with out the agency. They will over charge you and have you on a strict schedule. To really experience Yellowstone you need to have time to just sit back and relax. There are so many things to see that you wont get to experience with a tour group.

When I went, we would be relaxing and watching wolves and a tour group would pull up. They would all jump out cause chaos and take pictures for 5 minutes before jumping back on the bus and driving away. Tours are too rigid and you wont get the full experience.

  • Once you get there you can book a bus tour if you like, but it_s better to take the info packet they give you and just follow the road. Every spot is clearly labeled with lots of info. very easy to drive. Do it your self and take your time it_s great

  • How long should it take to get furniture from West Virginia to Texas?|100681

I need my bed from West Virginia, and they said it was shipped! But, I need to know when it SHOULD be here!

  • Lets see you can ask people here to guess; people who dont knwo who you shipped it with and whether it is coming from Eat Texas West Texas North Texas or South Texas and have to guess whether it is going to somplace like a decent sized city in West Vriginia or 42 miles down a dirt road Remeber us guessers dont even know who shipped it and when they picked it up

    --OR---

You can call the shipper and ask them where your bed is.

I am guessing the second option is more practical.

But since you asked for guesses I will be glad to make one.

It will arrive May 5, 2009 at 11;38 AM.

lLet me know how I did.

  • Typically, it may take a week or two, depending upon more variables than you_ve provided. It could take longer if it needs to go to Amarillo, El Paso, Del Rio, Brownsville, or- well, do you understand our dilemma? And is this bed coming from Weirton, Wheeling, Huntington, or where?
Is this bed the only item you_re having shipped, or is there other furniture along for the ride? Call the shipping company and ask them, and perhaps follow your own suggestion about medication.
  • What can I do in Vegas that is unique, unusual, different?|198592

I_m going to Vegas this summer and I want to do different things that I haven_t seen or done already. I_ve seen the shows, eaten at the resturants, the typical Vegas things. I_m looking for ideas that you wouldn_t normally find in a guide book. Unique places of interest that the locals would know about. Thanks!

  • In the summertime, Vegas locals don_t leave the house.

If you want to do something interesting...

    1) Drive to the stateline (CA) and ride the HUGE roller coaster.
    2) Eat a midnight dinner at Paymon_s Mediterranean Grill on Maryland Parkway- only the Hookah Lounge is open at that hour. Smoke a bowl of strawberry tobacco.
    3) Rent a ferrari. Why not?
    4) Enjoy a deep fried twinkie down on freemont street. They are surprisingly good.
    5) Learn to play Pai Gow Tiles (that_s the game played with dominoes). It_s a very fun gambling experience that most locals would never even try.
    6) Go to a dealer school, and pay them around $300 to learn to deal 21. You can learn this in a couple of days. At the end of your trip, go downtown to the El Cortez or the Golden Gate and tell the Shift Manager that you_ve just moved into town, and you_re looking for an audition. Wear black pants and a white dress shirt. Auditions are performed on live 21 games. How many people have DEALT on their Vegas Vacations?
7)Go to the new trampoline recreation center. I don_t know the name of it, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

  • Something I_ve never done is Vegas is WIN, so if I could do that, that would certainly be unique! Seriously, take a day trip to Red Rock State Park. Great hikes and beautiful scenary. My wife and I spent the day there and we will go again.

  • Try the ride at the Luxor Hotel - In Search of the Obelisk.

  • Go to Red Rock Canyon. Its about 20 miles West of Las Vegas out Charleston Blvd (you can pick up that street at the north end of the Strip) Its a scenic drive-through park. Go early, not in the heat of the day; there_s no shade. You can also book bicycle rides through he park;soory don_t have a URL for that.

Drive about 30 miles southeast of Vegas and go to Hoover Dam; the National Park Service offers tours (@ $15.) there and its interesting stuff.

Drive about 50 miles north of Vegas and go to Valley of Fire State Park; it has scenic stuff also.

Drive about 3 hour north on I-15 and go to Zion National Park.

Be sure to go down to Freement Street

  • go swimming in the Bellagio fountans.

  • go 4 wheeling in red rock.i_m not a local though,sorry.

  • Visit the Clark County Museum in Henderson and The Dam.

  • Drive a stock car at the motor speedway

  • Jump in a taxi, ask where there is a good tattoo parlor, and get some ink. I did it a couple years back, it was fun, and I don_t have any regrets. :)
Or take a peek at the site below. It_s pretty cool.
Have fun, I just went two weeks ago. I don_t plan it anymore, I just go and see what happens.
  • I want to Travel to New Orleans, to tour the Cemeteries any tips interesting places to visit?|188561

How bad were the cemeteries hit in New Orleans by Katrina? Are there still tours of the area? I want to travel around the Halloween season, any interesting places related to ghosts, etc.? I like to take pictures of so called _haunted_ places, cemeteries especially any good stories and locations, in the New Orleans area?

  • I was in New Orleans in April and can tell you that the tourist areas of the city are in pretty good shape. You_ll have a terrific time when you go.

The Times-Picayune_s web site has an entire page dedicated to Haunted New Orleans:
    http://www.nola.com/haunted/

As for tours, I always recommend Robert Florence_s company, Historic New Orleans Walking Tours. I_ve taken many tours with him over the years and have never been disappointed. He_s a great storyteller who manages to be fascinating without all the sensationalistic and corny junk of other tour companies on whom I_ve squandered money in the past. He_s also written two very well-received books on New Orleans cemeteries. He does haunted tours, cemetery/voodoo tours and historical-architectural tours.

  • Be care full walking around the cemeteries in New Orleans lots of criminals hide behind the big tomb stones. There is a store off Bourbon Street that sell voo-doo items

  • The first answerer is incorrect. Some parts of New Orleans were not hit as bad as others so it makes sense that they are nearly back to normal. They have made a lot of progress but there is still a long ways to go.
Do not go to a cemetary alone. It is not and has never been safe and the cemetaries are popular so the thugs hand out there and will rob you. Always go as a group. There are organized tours and you can easily find them in the quarter. Go to New Orleans Online and request a city guide. It will have tour info for you.

  • i would HIGHLY recommend tours done by the French Quarter shop called Reverend Zombies VooDoo shop ... i went on the Cemetary tour in Feb and it was GREAT ! .. good stories.. and very well done..

they also have a Haunted Histoy tour i_ve been wanting to go on .. i would recommend goin to the 8:00pm one !

if you make reservations do it by phone.. just to clarify everything..

  • The state is still in total disarray. They worked on the downtown area, and the rich, the rest is still recked. From what my son said it will take YEARS before they are even 1/2 the way rebuilt.
