How confusing is Chicago Union Station and can Mega bus customers wait their?|182398

I have heard Union Station is like a maze particular with the one way esclator. I have also heard that Mega bus passengers cannot wait inside union station. Can they wait in the great hall and eat at the food court.

  • Not THAT confusing, particularly if you_re catching the Megabus. That bus stops on Canal Street which runs right between the two sections of Union Station. If you__re in doubt as to where to go, just go up and out to the street, find Canal Street and you_ll probably see people waiting. The bus stops on the east side of Canal (if you_re not sure, ask someone.)

As far as waiting inside for the bus, the station official don_t really want it. Megabus isn_t paying them anything (I think) so why should they accomodate their customers? But there_s no one stopping you from sitting in one of the bars in the train station and sipping a beer and waiting or eating at one of the restaurants and waiting, etc. I mean, how do they know what you_re waiting for. But if you_re just sitting there for hours doing nothing, they may ask.

  • Not sure about union station being confusing but i have taking megabus before. I always wait in the stairway and lot of peole so as well. There is actually a sign by the entrance that says that megabus customers are not allowed in the union station building but i still go in anyway especial to buy food or when it was cold outside.

  • chicago2210 - Union Station can be a little confusing the first time you go there, but really it_s not that bad. I used to work right around the corner from Union Station.

And, Union Station is a public place. ANYONE can sit in the great hall and wait (no security people are going to question you and demand your tickets) and eat at the food court. People come from the office building near Union Station to pick up lunch at Union Station.

    You_ll be fine...don_t worry.

  • MegaBus has its terminal on Canal St. near the entrance. You can come in and buy something at the food court. You can sit there. However, you cannot wait in the Great Hall because MegaBus hasn_t paid Union Station for that right. You have to wait outside on Canal St.
  • SF locals- What are the top things I should see and do on my trip to the bay area?|192910

I plan to spend 5 days in San Francisco on vacation this June. What sights and activities would you recommend?

  • As a local, I feel it is my duty to steer you away from all of the tourist attractions. That_s not to say you shouldn_t see them, but there are some wonderful things this city has to offer that you should really know about, mainly in the way of food.

    1) Aziza-it_s a Moroccan restaurant and it is amazing
    2) Burma SuperStar-Burmese food, and it_s been featured on the Food Network
    3) Haight Ashbury (not so much for the food, but it_s fun)
    4) Definitely go to Berkeley
    5) you have to take Muni and BART. It_s an experience all of it_s own

    Places to avoid:

The Tenderloin (unless you like crack and the people who love it)

The Marina (unless you like douche bags)

  • go to touristy places because they are nice especially if youre on vacation.

    1. alcatraz - get the audio tour!
    2. powell st - if you want some shopping
    3. beaches! like pacifica, crissy field, etc
    4. golden gate park (japanese tea garden)
    5. watch a musical or something!

  • Check out the Garden of Eden on broadway. You_ll have tales to tell when you get home, that_s for sure.........
