What are some good places to visit in Alaska?|158470

I_m thinking about moving to Alaska but want to go and visit for a few weeks before I move there. I_d kind of like to get a feel for the whole state so I plan on keeping on the move and visiting several different parts.

  • Be sure to include Southeast Alaska in your travels. Juneau and Sitka are a little isolated, but Haines and Skagway are on the road system. I can tell you more if you_re interested. Let me know.

  • I used to live in Fairbanks. It is a great place to see. Also about an hour noth of fairbanks is chena hot springs. Here is a website.

If you have any other questions just ask- my parents still live up there.

  • The hot spots are along the South East coastal lines of Alaska. I have lived in Sitka and Cordova also been through Haines the eagles are the best and moste exciting to see moste of all. People here in Alaska like to see the glaciers calving. The best way to see them would be going on a tour boat like Kenai Fjords Tours

Another hot spot is Seward, in which cruise ships make a stop from early part of May to mid Sept.

  • Near eagle river..north of anchorage, there is a Russian Cemetary at the ELKUTNA exit. Its one of my favorite places to see up here.
